Chapter 4
Percy had been trying to listen intently in what Athena, Annabeth, and Thalia were saying but through all of the noise in the cafeteria. He had only caught the words 'field trip', 'camp', and 'keep him busy for a while'. The only phrase that he'd been able to hear, but only because the cafeteria quieted a little as people started to notice that it was almost time to leave. Percy had gotten up and was waiting by the wall using his powers to allow him to see people by using the mist around them. Then the bell rang and Percy immediately pushed through the door and was walk/running down the halls to his class before anyone could notice anything, and before bullies could ambush him and keep him from his target of learning at the moment.
He was in his class waiting and had just pulled out his drawing materials when the others walked in. Annabeth and Thalia has immediately went to their seats, and Athena was at the head of the class teaching different forms of torture. All of which Percy knew about due to his parents having needed to tell him that they might be gone and put through it, and that he might be subjected to some of them sometimes.
The rest of the day went by quickly and when the bell rang, Percy was ready and heading out the door, Athena ordered both Annabeth and Thalia to follow him the best they could, but Percy was already too far out of their sight before they had gotten to the front of the school. They split up and looked for Percy, and Annabeth caught Percy heading towards the forest. She called out to Thalia and ran towards Percy to stop him from going through, but he had already gone a mile into the forest by the time they had gotten to its edge. A scream, a monster's scream rang out and the two ran through the first frantically yelling out Percy's name here and there.
They were both tackled to the side and pinned down with a hand on their mouths by Percy as an empusa went right by them. Percy had took his hand off of Annabeths mouth and lifted his vambrace in the creatures direction, and there was a short blast of air and a small ice projectile punctured through the face of the empusa and it disintegrated into a pile of dust. The ice-bullet was faster than Annabeth and Thalia's vision, but Percy could see and feel it perfectly fine. Heck if it wasn't going to reach its target he could just use his powers to nudge it in the right direction, and go against all of the laws of gravity and wind-force.
Percy' blades slid out from their place in the vambrace as Percy listened to another monster breathing heavily, and coming in their direction. Annabeth noticed that one side of the blades had a small hook at the end, and the other side was completely smooth and sharp. Able to seemingly cut through everything, and then Percy had quickly jumped up from his position on Annabeth and Thalia's stomachs and jumped through a gap in the tree above them. There was no sound as Percy jumped through the trees, landed and rolled on the other side, and jumped onto the other monster's back with no problem at all. His swords went into the monster's back in an instant and the creature made a small grunt and burst into dust. Annabeth and Thalia just looked on in shock, they just witnessed him kill the Minotaur and an empusa without getting caught, or causing noise...how? Was the only thing that both were thinking, and then Percy's swords disappeared and he glared at Annabeth and Thalia as if to say "don't follow me again...ever" and then he ran off. No sound, no warning, and no explanation as he was out of their sight, and tracking distance within a couple minutes.
Once Percy was sure that they hadn't followed him, though they had already went home to cook dinner and discuss what to do with the young assassin. He slowed and turned left just as a main street came by, and returned home at near four thirty PM. As quiet as he was the front door wasn't the easiest thing to sneak through in the world...at all. Percy opened it lazily, not caring about the noise, and then he went inside, closed it behind him, and walked to the kitchen to fix a quick snack. He noticed, through the reflection of the blank TV screen, that his mother was sleeping on the couch in the living-room, and had no idea that he was home. Paul was probably out doing another mission for family money that they didn't really need, but it kept his father busy. Otherwise he would've gone crazy by now not having any action to go to and only getting to train in the basement, fight Percy and lose, or go for a long, long run to calm his assassin's nerves. His mother heard Percy take out a bowl and put it on the counter, but she didn't hear him go through the door...what?
Percy poured some Lucky Charms Cereal into the bowl and then milk and grabbed a spoon before going over to where his mother was laying, actually now sitting, and sat down next to her and started to eat while she stretched. Then Percy put a small pile of monster dust onto the counter, and his mother looked at it and saw that it was finer than sand, and seemed to be disintegrating before her eyes. Then she realized what it was and she looked at Percy in slight shock, slight pain. She motioned for him to throw it out, and he grabbed it, put it in the sink, and then emptied his pockets, and shoes of it into the sink as well, and the mother watched by the door in shock.
"Did you enjoy you're first day at school?" she asked and Percy looked at her and nodded smiling. Then he told her that they were supposedly going on a field trip soon, but it hasn't been announced yet. Sally didn't question how he got the information because she would've done it as well...look into future events and subjects. He told her that it wasn't on their original plan, but seemed to be a last minute addition. All using the mist around them to form words out of water, and when he was done he had already returned to eating.
"Did you notice where you're going to be going"
Some camp, for special kids like me I guess Percy said and Sally stiffened, but Percy pretended not to notice I'm going to learn how to make my own weapons there, and fight in different styles. I am going to like it there a-lot I believe, as long as there's not too many ass****s who think that they're better than anyone anyways.
"Well I'm glad to hear that you are going to be having fun, and you have my permission, though you don't need it and are perfectly capable of defending yourself on your own, as by the monster dust that you showed me earlier, to go to the camp that you are telling me that you'll like"
Okay, and if I don't like it there I can always just run out and come back here without anyone Percy finished his meal and rinsed, washed, dried, and put away his dish before going downstairs to train a little. Percy's mother was a little sad that they had found Percy, she had hidden their tracks so well that she thought that no monster was able to track them, and yet Percy had killed a good amount of them, and was now going to the very camp that she knew he'd go to eventually but she wasn't ready to let him go yet.
----------------------------------------
The next couple days was filled with Percy learning about all of the different types of Greek monsters that there were, different types of torture and execution methods, and what certain weapons are made of. Then on Friday class was about to end and Athena stood in-front of her three students.
"I am moving up the poorly planned field trip up to next school-day, I won't be able to come with you, but Annabeth and Thalia have found a driver for you three to get to camp safely" Percy listened intently as he drew, the reason for this sudden change was because monster attacks on the three had been more and more frequent, and though Athena was there for a few of them. She didn't help, and Percy guessed that it had something to do with her being a goddess, and for every single one of the attacks. Percy had been the one to kill the invading monsters, and he's gotten pretty well on finding them hiding in plain sight too.
One time there was a transfer kid that had gotten into their class somehow, and all they did was stare at Percy intently and seethe in a seemingly never ending hate. Athena noticed a day after Percy due to the fact that the 'new kid' was always trying to follow Percy home, or stalk him during free periods.
Not to mention the person sat away from the three, but still in view of Percy the entire Lunch periods, and without touching their food at all. Percy had gotten enough of this stare-down annoyance and so he raised his hand and pointed out, and Athena most-likely knew what he was getting at because she let Percy go out of the classroom. Percy had waited till the monster was following him to the bathroom, about two minutes after Percy had left, until he struck.
As soon as it stepped into the bathroom with him, Percy ran it through with a small ice-dagger. Then spit on the dust that got into his mouth after the 'new kid' exploded into monster dust and went back to class. Annabeth and Thalia noticed after Percy came back the 'new kid' hadn't returned and they'd asked Percy what happened. He just made his Ice-dagger again and did the same motion he did to kill the monster before leaving the room and going home. They seemed to understand because Annabeth had her suspicions of the 'new kid' being a monster and was regretting not trying to come up with a solution earlier, and Thalia was mad that she didn't get a chance at killing it first.
Percy had gone home and 'told' Sally that the trip was moved up, and that monster attacks were getting more frequent. While she wished that she had more time to prepare herself that she wasn't going to see her son again. A monster had been stalking them, and it was one that she couldn't fight, as her skills weren't enough, and Percy wouldn't be able to without help as well either.
Their father would've also been killed by it, but he was gone at the moment...presumably dead by now. No thanks to his line or work, but Sally couldn't argue as she happened to have been in the same danger, and doing the same things before being kicked out of the SHIELD program for her 'recklessness'.
"Percy I think that it's finally time to tell you that you weren't meant to stay here forever, and you would've had to run before your sixteenth due to creatures that none of us understand having a certain taste for your type of blood, Demigod blood as they call it" Sally knelt as she explained that all of the training that they had put Percy wasn't just so that he would be able to earn and fight for himself, but also his ensuing survival in the world that he was about to enter in...forever.
When Sally was done explaining it to Percy, he nodded in understanding and wiped the stray tear that had escaped from her eye. Then he went to his room, and the monster stalking the family decided that then was the time to charge the house. The door flew open as a larger than average man stepped through the opening. His left hand held a bow, and on his back was a quiver filled with red-stained arrows.
"Run Percy, r—" an arrow went through Sally's throat before she could utter another word, and Percy risked a slight peep around he wall to see his enemy and he knew them that traveling away on foot was out of the escape list. Then his eyes traveled to his mother laying in the ground, with red seeping into her clothes and staining the carpet and the wooden floor, and Percy's hands curled into fists and his vambrace-blade slid out silently, and both of his hands held throwing weapons.
His left hand held three throwing stars, and his right held two throwing knives with another visible for a quick grab and throw, or stab if he had gotten closer than he'd wanted. The man had taken one step forwards when Percy slid out of the shadows and had already loosed the shurikens towards the enemy faster than anything he'd thrown before.
