Chapter 7
Surprisingly he knew where to hide in plain sight. And he knew I'd be the perfect place for it...
Y/N tapped her foot against the floor of her brother's car. Rashad hurried to the passenger side door. Ever since Amber got shot, Shad had been hot in the streets. Y/N's eyes glazed over with anger.
"Why did you call me here?"
Shad handed her a brown bag. Y/N tried to rip it open, "Don't check the bag. You know the rules."
Y/N leaned back in her seat, "What do you want me to do?"
Shad pulled on his chain, "Andre couldn't make this drop. So I need you to do it."
He passed her a Glock. Y/N averted her eyes at the sight, "Is that gun registered?"
Shad laughed, "You know it's not."
"Rashad, why you keep doing me like this?" Y/N asked frustrated.
"Family first always. You been riding with us before. It's nothing new. I know you remember how to do it." Rashad coached her.
"I got out for a reason." Y/N rubbed her aching head.
Rashad stepped out of the car ignoring her pleas for help, "The spot is at 86 and South."
....
Y/N sat in the back parking lot of the abandoned K-Mart. She anxiously bit her lip searching for the right car to pull on her side. The passenger side door of her car opened making her jump in fear.
Oakley slid inside lowering himself into the seat, "You should watch yourself. You're always in the wrong neighborhood."
Y/N held onto her beating heart, "Oakley. What the fuck?"
He shushed her, "I need you to look ahead and put the car in drive right now."
Y/N sighed when a police car approached her driver's side. Her fingers held onto the bag for dear life, "I gotta finish this drop."
Oakley pulled her face towards his shielding her from the officer's view. Y/N could feel his lips inching toward hers. "What are you doing?"
"What does it look like?"
"Are you really using me as a cover-up from the police?" Y/N asked in disbelief.
"You're always where I need you to be." Oakley let go of her face when the police car went the other way.
Before Y/N could oblige he pulled on his hood sinking further into the car, "Finish your drop."
Y/N watched as he tettered back into hiding. She didn't have time to think. The right car this time approached hers. With quickness, she rolled down her window as they tossed an envelope into her car. Y/N finished the trade-off by exchanging the secret items.
Y/N peeled out of the lost heading towards her part of town. Oakley who was still using his hoodie to cover himself winched at every sharp turn and bump.
"What is wrong with you? I did what you asked but you keep following me." Y/N shouted driving further down the street.
"Can you stop yelling my head is gonna fucking explode," Oakley responded pulling his hoodie down.
This time Y/N could see the blood trailing down the side of his head. His bloody nose and black eye were evident. Y/N cursed, "Damn."
Oakley winced holding his side, "Can you just take me to your place or something? I just need to lay low for a second. You're the only one I trust right now."
Y/N laughed, "You trusting me is like a bunny trusting a wolf."
Oakley didn't respond. He was passed out in the seat. Y/N shook her head. She drove the car to her brother's stash house a few miles outside of town. Her brother wouldn't be checking for her until later that night.
Y/N took her time dragging him inside. He mumbled under his breath as she ran a warm bath for him. After growing up with her brothers she knew what it was like taking care of someone who just got fucked up.
Y/N slapped his face lightly waking him up, "Wake up. Come on."
Oakley pulled off his top revealing his bruised stomach. She left him in the bathroom to soak while she prepared the first aid kit. He came out of the bathroom in some leftover clothes Y/N found.
"Lay down before you pass out again."
Oakley was silent as he followed her instructions. Y/N sat next to him on the couch. She tried to ignore his body but her eyes scanned his lanky frame. She ran the warm cloth over his face. He winched at her touch.
"Don't be a baby now."
He laughed groaning in pain, "You ever been beat up before?"
Y/N lifted her shirt revealing an old scar from her heart to her navel, "I was 15 and wild. So yeah that makes two of us."
Oakley averted his eyes as she tended to his wounds, "Why'd you get beat up?"
He tried not to smile at her question, "Victor needed me to take care of something. I had to fight my way through but I'm cool."
"You're crazier than I thought."
Y/N looked into his eyes as she wiped the last bit of blood from his face. Before she could process she leaned down to kiss him. Despite his pain, Oakley sat up gripping her chin. Y/N pecked his lips one last time before she forced him to lay back.
She threw the towel down noticing a tattoo on his arm. It reminded her of someone but she couldn't tell from where. Shaking her thoughts away she gave Oakley a blanket and turned the light off.
Authors Note:
We're jumping around a bit but that's the point. It's very clear that Oakley uses her for his needs and I wanna make that clear.
