Chapter 10

As soon as we got back to the party, Roan rushed over to Arian, “Are you okay?” he asked her putting one hand on her arm.

“Yeah, I’m fine now, it was just so horrible, he was too strong, I just couldn’t get free.” A tear started to form in her eye, despite what she’d said. Roan pulled her into his arms and she buried her head in his chest, he gently put his hand on the back of her head and just held her protectively. They both seemed oblivious of all the people around watching them, I looked at Midori and she just smiled at me, sliding her shoulders under my arm.

I looked at Roan and Arian, it seemed so natural for them to be standing that way, if it was any other boy I would just have seen a boy that was totally in love with a girl and I wouldn’t have had any surprises about what I saw, but because it was Roan, it seemed completely strange. Roan was a girl user and it looked strange for him to be holding just one girl that way, I don’t think I’d ever seen him show any sort of emotions to a girl before, except for lust.

We walked started to walk back to the VIP area together, Roan had his arms around Arian protectively, but no one said a word as they walked past, everyone could see the unhappy look in Arian’s eyes and the steely protective glint in Roans. Some idiot decided that it would be a good idea to try and shout something about Arian, he was on my left and I was walking past him as he started to say it, he never finished, instead he keeled over onto the floor after I had punched him in the stomach and knocked the wind out of him.

I had done it quickly and without warning on purpose, I wanted people to see what would happen if they tried it. I don’t even think anyone actually saw me punch him, one minute I was walking past him while he was shouting, the next he was on the floor gasping for air. I couldn’t believe that he still thought it would be okay to say anything about it that would be insulting to Arian. I was so angry. Everyone took a step back as we walked through them to the VIP area, no one wanted to get too close.

Once Midori was safely in the fenced off VIP area I walked through the crowed and over to the stage on my own, seething. Unclipping the restraint bar, I walked confidently onto the stage, the band cut out and everyone turned to look at me and a quick hush settled over the dance floor.

“You all saw what happened to that boy. The only reason that Roan and I didn’t knock him senseless was the fact that he was younger than us. If anyone, anyone at all, tries to do the same thing as he did, to any girl here tonight, then they will end up wishing that they were sitting in a tree in a dress. Understand?” I said in a low, clear voice, emphasising the question at the end. I could see the nodding of heads in the crowd.

“Assault of any kind will not happen at any of the parties we throw, if anyone disagrees with that then we will happily take them outside and show them what it feels like to be abused with no way of making it stop.” I took a deep breath to steady myself as I could hear my voice beginning to sound like I was shouting. “If anyone does want that kind of thing from this party then I suggest you leave now.” I said, clearly pointing to the door. No one moved. “You have all been warned, next time I will do than just stand on you.” I went to leave the stage, but stopped just at the top of the steps, turning back to the people at the party, “Oh and Dorian, enjoy this party when you catch your breath, because you’re never coming to another one… and, in future, watch your back.” I said menacingly, nodding at the band to start and leaving the stage.

I quietly walked to the VIP area, keeping my head down to remain inconspicuous. That’s when I heard it, “Let’s try and get Shigeru’s girlfriend when he’s not there, it should be fun trying to mess her around a bit. And I’d like to hear what sort of speech Shigeru has for that, ‘Someone raped my girl friend, I hate you all now, thank you for listening.’” And then a load of sniggering. I walked up behind Dorian and tapped him on the shoulder, “What?” he asked rudely as he turned around, when he saw me, his face turned slightly white, I bowed to him respectfully, marking the beginning of a fight and everyone cleared backwards, giving us room.

Dorian just stood still looking at me stupidly, “Bow.” I ordered him, he just stood still and folded his arms in front of his chest. “Fine, but you will pay for your ignorance.” I said calmly.

“Oh, I don’t think so.” He said, starting to jump around on his toes with his hands out in fists in front of him, I just stood completely still. “Come on you big shot, fight me.” He shouted at me.

“I don’t fight with dancers.” I told him calmly. He narrowed his eyes and quickly shot a punch at my face, I watched it coming and moved at the last second, retaliating with a small open handed slap on the side of his head. He pulled back, “Oh, we’re slapping like girls now are we,” He said laughing “So that’s what sensei is teaching you, well you’re fighting with the big boys now little missy.” He dived at me again, attempting a shot at my stomach, but I just slapped his hand away as if it were a fly.

He got slightly angry by this, so tried to do a series of attacks, but none of his hands even touched me, not even once. “If we’re done warming up, can we please start to fight now?” I asked him calmly.

“Yeah sure, whatever you want, as soon as this is over I’m getting a drink, one of the ones you’ve paid for.” He said smirking at me.

“No, as soon as we’ve finished you’ll be thrown out in a crumpled heap.” I said calmly and informatively. I could see that the matter-of-fact way that I’d said it was slightly confusing to Dorian, but I was so angry that I didn’t care, this was about teaching him to stay away from Midori, if he had to go out in a bloody mess then that was fine, as long as he knew never to mess with Midori. “Ready?” I asked him politely.

“Bring it.” I shook my head at his stupid remark and then swung a decoy punch at his head, bringing my other fist around and punching him with that instead, it made a satisfying thud. I went back into a defensive position, waiting for him to focus again; it had been a hard punch. “Ready?” I asked, he just kept his mouth shut and nodded his head.

I swung another decoy punch at him and then smacked him around the side with a roundhouse kick. He stumbled sideways a few paces, “Well if this is all Sensei’s taught you then I think the old man’s become a bit useless.” He said ignorantly.

“Oh no, I didn’t realised that you wanted me to use what Sensei has taught me, this is just from my fifteenth cycle, but if it’s Sensei’s teaching’s that you want then it Sensei’s teaching’s you can get, I’ll even teach you a few bits myself!” I said cheerfully as if I was telling a joke with a good punch line.

“The first thing you need is a good defence, attack me.” I ordered, he swung a few punches and kicks at me, but I just jumped back, up and then knocked the rest away with my open hand as if they were merely flies in the summer.

“The next thing you need is a good offence.” I said running towards him and doing a series of fast punches and kicks that left him doubled over in pain. I waited until he had returned to a standing position.

“Then you learn to make sure that all your sides are protected.” I punched him from the front, ducked under his arm, kicked him in the back of the leg, jumped around to his side and punched him in the side of the face. I moved so quick that he only had time to stumble forward and raise his arm in a defence that was too slow to work.

“Then it’s learning to expect the unexpected.” I turned around and walked away as I was talking, whipping around to face him when I had gone a few paces. “Ready… I doubt it.” I ran at him and just before I got too close I put both hands on his shoulders, swung my legs into the air so that I was over his head like doing a handstand on the grass, then I let go with one hand, turned my wrist and my body as I moved over him, landing facing his back, then I brought my leg up behind him and kicked him in the middle of his back so hard that he fell to his hands and knees in front of me.

“Get up.” I said in a low voice, all the fake pleasantness gone. He stood slowly and turned to face me. “Now I will teach you my own lesson; Respect.” I moved swiftly towards him, so fast my hand was a blur. I hit him in the jaw with a sharp punch, then in the stomach with my other balled fist, he tried to punch me back but by the time his fist got there, my body wasn’t. I laughed cruelly and punched him in the head, he staggered back a few steps and then looked at me, I could feel the anger burning in my eyes; this was for Midori. I ran to him again and did three fast punches in the chest, did a fake shot to his head, kneeing him in the stomach with so much force that it lifted him off the floor, when he was in the air I punched him in the chest again, making him fall backwards, but before he hit the floor I swung my leg round and hit him hard in the side, knocking him about a yard through the air. He landed heavily on his side, coughing up blood. I walked over to him slowly and knelt down next to him on one knee, leaning over him until my face was merely inches from his, “If you ever even hint at doing anything to Midori again, you’ll end up doing more than just coughing up blood.” I said menacingly. I leant back and then looked at him again, pure hatred on my face, “You make me sick.” I said and then punched him one last time, knocking him unconscious.

I stood up and walked away, past all the people watching, I could feel the anger burning in my face as I walked over to the V.I.P area. When I got there I realised that it was the last place I really wanted to be, I walked to the back and then climbed up a tree to get some fresh air, swinging myself up through the branches like a monkey. I got to the top and breathed in deeply letting the cool night air refresh my face. These parties were beginning to wear me out, they were no where as much fun as they used to be, I hadn’t even wanted to come to this one and it was supposed to be for me
