Chapter 3: Daily Life
P.O.V. [Name]
I sighed as I woke up and as I did I let out a tired yawn and began to stretch obviously relaxed from the amount of sleep that I had gotten. I took a few minutes to get out of bed and then slowly stood up. I then made my way towards the bathroom and began to go through my morning routine. I left the bathroom feeling refreshed and ready for just about anything. However, to say I was prepared for what I saw next would have been a lie.
I heard some humming, it was fairly light so of course, I assumed it was Kali and followed the sound. When I did I saw her wearing a slightly modified version of her typical clothing. One that seemed to be modeled after a maid's outfit. I stared at her a bit confused as I looked at her. I could see a duster in her hand so she was obviously cleaning. "Uh . . . Kali?" I asked gaining her attention.
"What's up with the outfit?" I asked as I looked at the female in front of me.
"Oh this is my cleaning dress," She said as she turned around as if trying to show it off.
"Ok? But why does it look like a maid's outfit?" I asked looking at her.
"I thought it looked cute," Kali said as she looked at me.
"Fair enough, it does look nice," I said as I looked at her causing her to smile brightly as she looked at me.
"Thank you!" She said as she once again began dusting the house. Come to think of it, it had been a while since Ghira cleaned the place.
"Give me a moment to change out of my good clothes and I'll help," I said as I began to walk back to my room. When I said this she nodded with a smile and began humming happily as I walked away. I had planned on going out today and exploring some more of the town which is why I put these clothes on. However, since it seemed like I was going to be cleaning for the rest of the day I didn't want to get them dirty or stain them in any way.
Once I arrived in my room I closed the door and began to change from my current attire to something I thought was a little more appropriate for the situation. I looked myself over once in the mirror and then stepped out into the house and began to try and find Kali. It didn't take me long considering she was standing on a chair to reach some of the higher areas so that she could dust them.
"So what do you want me to do head-maid Kali?" I asked joking a bit as I looked up at the female in front of me.
"Oh," She said as she turned around to look at me. She seemed a bit lost for words at the moment as she thought of something for me to do before pointing to a small closet. "In there are some cleaning supplies. I want to get the glass cleaner and clean the windows," She said as she looked at me. I nodded hearing this and began to walk towards the large closet. Every door in the house was a bit bigger than usual.
Mainly because of how tall Ghira was so we ended up making sure that he could walk around his own house comfortably without having to lean over and duck under the door when he was walking like he did at some of the other places we lived in the past. I grabbed the cleaner that she was talking about as well as one of the clothes that had been left in the closet and walked to the nearest window and began to clean it.
"So what made you decide to do this today?" I asked as I sprayed the window in front of me with some of the cleaner.
"What made you?" Kali asked as she looked at me.
"I saw you doing it and I thought it would be nice to help. It's a big house after all," I said as I began to wipe the window. As I did I noticed that there were still several specs on the window so I sprayed it again. I knew that most of them were probably on the outside but even so, I thought just in case I missed a few it would be better to go over it once again.
"Well if you must know it's because I didn't really have anything better to do today. Ghira's off doing his White Fang thing, and I thought you were going to try and explore the town a little more. So I thought I'd be here by myself. So I decided that I wanted the house to look pretty for when the two of you came back," She said as she continued to dust different areas of the house.
"Well that's nice of you," I said as I stopped wiping and once again saw several specs before moving onto the next window.
"Thanks, I wasn't really sure what else to do. After all, it's not like there's a lot for me to do here," Kali said as she looked at the wall in front of her. When she said this I looked at her and thought about what she said. Now that I was thinking about it she was right. While Ghira and I had something to do, I don't think she had nearly as much that she could or even wanted to do.
"Well then what do you want to do?" I asked as I looked at her. I was admittedly a bit curious to find out what type of things she liked doing.
"Promise you won't laugh?" Kali asked as she looked at me, and I nodded as I looked at her. Now I was just even more curious. What could have been so bad that she wanted me not to laugh at it? Nothing really came to mind or at least nothing I thought she would like. Her face then turned a bit red and she turned to look at me. "I want to . . . use a gun," She said as she looked at me.
"Really?" I asked a bit surprised as I looked at her. Of the people I expected to want to fight she wasn't one of them. She was always so playful, I never took her for the type that wanted to fight someone else. Kali looked at me and nodded a bit. "Well if that's the case I can show you," I said as I looked at her causing her to look at me a bit excited.
"Really?" She asked as she looked at me.
"Yeah, I won't go into to much detail but my old job had me using one pretty much every so I've still got it laying around. I'm sure we could find a safe place to go and let you give it a try," I said as I looked at her causing her to light up with a smile.
"Really? That's awesome! Thanks!" She said with a smile as she began to clean even faster clearly motivated by what I had just old her. I smiled seeing her reaction and went back to cleaning the windows. Was that why she never really talked much? Did she want to be a huntsman at some point and just never found anyone to train her? If that was the case I don't know if she's can still become a huntsman but I can at least offer her some basic training in case of a burglar breaks into our house and we aren't home to handle it.
She might even be a natural at it, now I'm getting a little excited thinking about it. What if she gets strong enough to start accompanying Ghira on some of his missions? I'm sure he'd be surprised and probably a bit inspired to see what Kali can do in action. The more I thought about the more excited I became for tomorrow.
