I had to change myself, I have to become ruthless if I'm staying in this mansion, Max tries to smother me with a first aid box but all I do is take it off of him and lock myself up in the bath room.

I pour the alcohol over the wound and over my fingers to sterilise them ready to take the bullet out of my arm. I used my fingers and took it out of my arm, I grunt as the pain sensation run around my body, causing me and my body to feel uncomfortable. I pulled out the bullet and wrapped my arm up in a bandage and take a moment to finally breathe without the full pain.

A knock emerged on the bathroom door but I ignored it, I couldn't be bothered to answer nor talk to anyone.

The door was knocked down and there stood Jayden with her sapphire orbs staring at me.

"Everything okay?" She asks and I sigh.

"Everything's fine." I say sternly and walk past her, going to the guest bedroom, but there she follows.

"Leave me alone Jayden." I say, my patience is wearing thin... I don't ever lose my patience, but when I do. It gets messy.

"Oh, come on, you're in my house here!" She exclaims and this is the straw that broke the camelus back.

"Right, listen here Jayden...You wanted a deal, I'm giving it to you, you leave me the fuck alone and give me my space. I mean it." I stare at her and she's already shocked that she's pushed my buttons so far that she's made me rage in anger.

"Grow up." She states and leaves the room I'm staying in, she closes the door behind her, making it a barrier between us both. I huff and throw myself on the bed, I stare at the cleling and wonder why I got myself into this mess.

I walk down the stairs, holding onto the banister for support as I go see where Max is. I find him in the garden, enjoying the cold breeze that engulfs us both.

"Everything okay?" Max asks and I nod, people like Elijah infuriate me, they have no need to behave in that way when I try and help.

"You're lying." He says, he can sniff my lies from a mile away. He nudges my shoulder and expects me to answer the question truthfully, but I'm not one for soppy talks.

"Just work." I say, he puffs his smoke into the air allowing it to disappear into the thin air.

Our conversation ends not long after it started and I travel to the office to finish off some files, I glance at the clock and realise it is passed midnight already.

I sit down on my chair and let the work engulf my mind, making me struggle to concentrate with the amount of shipments that there is.

I pile up the final lot of papers until I hear a tiny scream go off from upstairs, I quickly run and find myself in Olivia's room, she sits up straight with the sweat dripping off her forehead.

"Are you okay?" I ask and she tries to catch her breath.

"I had a nightmare." She said, my stomach twitched in pain.

"What about?" I ask.

"Y- You..." She tried to say it quietly but I heard from the distance at where I stand, it made my heart throb – and not in a good way.

"I'm so sorry Olivia." I don't usually apologise for incidents that occur, but when it comes to a going child witnessing something awful... I can't help but feel bad.

"Do you want to tell me what happened?" I ask and she instantly shakes her head, showing me she definitely doesn't want to tell me.

I sigh before I can talk and allow myself to catch my own breath I didn't realise I had been holding.

"Try go back to sleep, I'll be here until you drift off, okay?" She nods and faces the other way, pulling the duvet up to her head and getting herself comfy. I sigh and watch as she tosses slightly.

I wait a few more moments until I notice that her body is slowly moving up and down, indicating that she's sleeping. I slowly leave the room and close the door slightly, leaving a tiny gap to allow some light through her room.

I walk back to close the office door and travel to my bedroom, forcing myself to undress and wash away my thoughts, I get into my shower and turn the knob, allowing my body to seek the warmth it desires and deserves. Goosebumps emerge on my skin as the joymet runs through my veins, my hair was luckily tied up before I jumped in, saving me to wash it.

I scrubbed my body thoroughly making sure their is not dirt left on my body, I rub the scent of vanilla on my body, I quickly wash it off and turn the knob until the water stops at its high pressure and turns to small drops leaving the head of the shower. I wrap my body up in a towel letting it get cozy before I get into my silky sheets.

I change into my long oversized black T-shirt and my thong, leaving my body to fully breathe throughout the night, which prepares me for the next day. I hang up my towel, allowing it to dry and get into bed, letting the cool sheets engulf my body and giving them comfort. Before I know it, my eyes closed and everything went dark.

The morning arose and the smell of bacon filled my nostrils, I could already hear the knocking encounter my door. "Come in." I say, knowing it's Olivia.

"Morning Elijah." She gave me a small smile and I decided to return it after seeing her little dimple disappear.

"Did you sleep well?" I asked and she shook her head, I sat up against the headboard preparing myself for what she'll tell me.

"I had a nightmare, I think I screamed because that Jayden women came in and stayed with me until I fell back asleep." She shrugged because she wasn't sure if she got her name correct, but after that sentance her smile gleemed. However, guilt consumed me. I didn't hear her scream at all... I didn't go and see her... I feel as if I'm failing at being a big brother to Olivia— I always try to do what's best for her, it just never seems to work or turn out that way.

Olivia exited out of my room and let her feet make a patting sound as she went down the stairs, I sat up from the bed and walked over to the window, I opened it. Wide. Allowing the fresh air fill my lungs and prepare me for the day ahead, a day that will be like no other now, but a day that'll be repeated for how ever long it has to.

I walk down the stairs in my long pajamas bottoms and my vest on, showing my bare arms. I make it to the bottom and analyse my environment once more, I started to walk to the kitchen but am stopped with Liv standing right in front of me, fully dressed, hair all done.

"Are you going now?" I asked and raised my brow, to why she hadn't even waited until I got ready.

"Yeah, Max is taking me." She smiles innocently, but my heart sinks, it's always been me... I'm the only one who's ever taken her to school.

"Not happening." I say and sigh, I grab the banister and try to make my way up the stairs, but her little voice stops me in my tracks.

"Elijah, it's fine." She said, her reassurance made me feel slightly better, I don't trust this mafia, not one bit. It's full of evil people who do the wrong things, it isn't right.

"Fine." I sigh and bring her in for a hug, I plant a kiss on her head as Max emerged from behind the pilliar.

"Have a good day." I wave goodbye and let her go, I was petrified, anything could happen on the way to school, someone could be following them or anything. I tug at the roots of my hair and right on time I hear a raspy voice from behind.

"Morning." She said and walked right passed me, not even acknowledging I'm standing still.

I ignore her and begin to start walking up the stairs, feeling the coldness beneath me as the sensation runs up my feet.

"Get dressed, I need you today." I rolled my eyes as she throws demands at me.

For some reason I find myself fully dressed in black jeans and a navy polo top. I put my black boots on over my socks, ready for the day, I brush my teeth and jog down stairs to find Jayden all ready in black. She's wearing her black leggings, a plain black top and some black boots.

"How is your wound?" She asks, referring to my gunshot wound.

"Fine." I say shortly, waiting for her to respond, but when she does– it's a simple eye roll.

"This is why I need you today, we need to find out who shot you." I nod as we both head to the black range rover.

I got into the passanger seat and allowed Jayden to drive, I had no idea where we were going, but I was soon going to find out.

The drive wasn't long but we made it to an abandoned looking place, with no one in sight. We got out of the car and entered the building, the interior wasn't the same from the outside. It was modern. There were computers everywhere and files stacked up neatly.

"Where are we?" I asked and stared at her, watching as she moves across the building.

"My warehouse." She said and smiled, we both traveled to the computers and sat to analyse them, but there was no use.

"Nothing." Jayden says and sighs, but then we notice the dark figure, but not any facial features, nothing.

"Useless." Jayden moans and closes the computer down.

We sit there for a moment in silence until Max storms in and has blood dripping from his shirt His body falls to the floor as Jayden and I run over to him.
