Chapter 14 ♡Rest♡
Third Person's POV
Night has already fallen quickly which was also sign for the two to take some rest. After Yosetsu helped heal Momo, he was also the one carrying her throughout the day. He was a bit exhausted, yet he didn't want to stop as he knows carrying the injured princess was his duty. They decided to rest in a safer spot of the forest but was also on the same path as to their destination
Yaoyorozu watched as Awase set up a campfire in front of them. He was mostly doing all the work which made the princess feel bad.
"Please, Yosetsu? I feel terrible not doing anything." She pleaded him, wanting to do something and not make the thief too tired.
"It's okay Momo, I insist. I rather have you all recovered than having you still in pain." He smiled as he put another stick in the fire, "There, that should do it."
Yosetsu sat beside the princess as they stayed cozy with fire despite the cold air they were beung surrounded in the forest. Momo's foot was being rested on Yosetsu's cloak to act as a pillow or support for her sprained ankle.
"You doing okay, your highness?" He asked.
"Yep! I'm just bit sad that my sprained ankle is already being a bother on this travel. I wish it could just heal up faster." She frowned.
Awase let out a little laugh, "Just be patient, Momo. You moving too much will make it worse so as long as you have some rest, then you'll be fine."
"But...I just want us to continue. My excitement can't handle it and plus, I am still worried about how long I'm gone from my home." She spoke in worry.
It was true that Yaoyorozu somewhat had no problem with her going on this adventure, yet bits of her can make her worried about how many days long has she been away from the castle. She knows that her best friend is doing her best trying to keep everyone distracted, but that didn't mean they would immediately fall for that.
Then by her surprise, Awase held her hand and smiled at her reassuringly, "It's gonna be alright, Momo. If you'd like, maybe I can carry you while we get to our destination."
Yaoyorozu blushed by the idea, yet she doesn't seem to dislike it at all, "B-But...wouldn't that make you immediately tired..??"
He shook his head, "I've carried a lot of things and you are nowhere near to the heaviest stuff I've held. Besides, I want to make sure we still get there despite your injury."
She smiled brightly at him as gave him a tight and warm hug, "Thank you thank you so much Yosetsu!! You're truly the best."
The criminal was blushing furiously but returned the hug either way, "N-No problem."
They both let go from the hug as Yaoyorozu said, "We should get some sleep now. If we're still continuing our walk, then it's best we do it with all the energy we have."
Awase nodded as he yawned, making Momo giggle.
"Awase, you should sleep on my lap." She suggested which made Yosetsu completely confused and flustered.
"U-Uhh...why..?? It's okay if I just lay on the ground." He said, insisting that it was alright for him to sleep on somewhere else.
The princess pouted but explained, "Yosetsu, you did so much work than I did. It's only fair if you take some rest in a much cimfortable spot and plus, you'll do so much work again by yourself tomorrow if we're still continuing oue walk. You need more rest than I do."
"And how about you though?" He asked.
"I'll be fine. Now come on." Momo patted her lap, gesturing him to lay on it for him to sleep.
Awase paused a bit before sighing, shyly miving himself down and lying on the lap of the princess, "I can't believe I'm doing this."
Yaoyorozu noticed his face a bit red thanks to light coming from their campfire. She quietly giggled, enjoying to see the flustered face of his.
"Isn't comfortable though?" She teased him.
He playfully rolled his eyes and replied, "Yeah I guess so."
The princess giggled as she removed the bandana off of him and comed his hair, "Get some sleep, Yosetsu."
"O-Okay.."
Awase's eyes slowly start to feel heavier and heavier, every second that passed made him feel more tired. Then, he eventually drifted of to sleep.
She softly smiled at the sleeping thief, "I told you."
Momo then hears a bird chirping nearby. She looked up and saw the same bird of Jiro coming towards her. Its chipring got louder and louder every time it gets closer to her. Princess Momo places a finger on her lips, signaling the little bird to be quiet as it lands right beside her.
It had a little scroll of paper in it's beak with a pencil. She raised a brow and asked the bird, "Do I have to write something to Kyoka?"
It nodded and gave the paper and pencil to Yaoyorozu.
Momo smiled and took the paper and pencil, placed it on the ground and began to write to her best friend. Despite the darkness shrrounding her, she was thankful that there was some light coming from the fire for her to use when writing on the paper.
