The last day before departure, all the knights got their needed items in bags that horses could carry and got together to train one last time.

When she got to the training area, she noticed that Keith himself was giving instructions beside the Head Guard. The twins were already there because they went on early to have a quick talk with Keith. 

She got to learn more about the other men she was going with but she stuck by Theo's side. Shiro being nowhere to be found and Lance being too injured to come, she relied on Theo a lot now.

Katie went straight to Theo ignoring the looks the other knights were giving her.

They looked at her like she did not belong and she knew that she didn't but she had no other choice so she had to make it seem like she belonged.

She also felt Keith's eye on her as she walked over to Theo.

' Please don't regret your decision in picking me.'  She thought in her head as she got in her position and looked up at him.

His eyes met hers briefly before he was calling out another instruction.

" Get into partners, spar with them and learn some points from each other." He said and Katie immediately grabbed Theo's arm getting a confused look from Mark.

" Ted?" Mark said and they looked at each other with their identical gray eyes.

" Sorry Marco, I'm gonna spar it out with Pidge this time."  Theo replied and earned a shrug from his twin brother.

" Okay," Mark said and walked away to find another partner.

They walked over to a spot where no one else was.

" Marco and Ted?" Katie said and giggled as Theo's cheeks turned pink.

" Just some weird nicknames we gave each other when we were little." He mumbled and got to his spot.

" What kind of name is Pidge though?" He refuted back as the starting whistle blew.

Katie turned quiet and got a light look in her eyes so Theo knew he hit a nerve.

Before he could apologize, Katie hit a blow on his shoulder and he fell back from the shock.

He got up quickly and returned the blow before she could block. As she fell onto the ground, she growled and got back on her feet to get more hits on him.

After a few minutes they were still head to head but Katie was more exhausted so she didn't see Theo's long legs slide across the ground to her legs to trip her.

She fell hard on the ground but Theo's fast hands blocked her head from hitting the rock that was beneath her.

He used his other hand to pin her small body to the ground and towered over her that his shadow covered all of her.

" My brother gave me that nickname since birth because he said every pigeon was gathered around the medical place when I was born." 

She said looking up at him and chuckled at the thought of it.

After a long moment, Theo got off of her and got both of them water and sat beside her.

" I'm sorry." He said quietly and Katie nudged his shoulder.

" It's okay, you didn't know and I did laugh at your nickname.." She said and took a gulp of her water.

" Just promise me if something bad happens to me on this trip, please take care of my family." She said with a light look in her eyes again,

" I know it seems like a lot to ask but I want the best for my family even without me and you're the only person right now that I can talk to about this."

Theo didn't know how to reply to that so he gave her an answer he was sure he could give.

" Alright. I promise."
