Chapter 8-Logan
See, I don't usually read books. But when I do, I read fantasy books. I know that I'm definitely not living in a fantasy, but in those books, portals are bad. Like, I don't do math either, but even I know that portal+crazy guy=bad, bad news. Thalia raises an eyebrow. "I have a tiger," she says, pointing at the white animal. I roll my eyes. "Oh, really? I thought it was a mouse."
She glares at me. "What?" I ask. She rolls her eyes. "What I meant to say is that if I don't get answers-" she slid her finger along her throat to show a killing motion. Ok. So she did know that tigers can eat people. Good for her. At least she's a little sane.
Mitch looks at me and her confused. "What are you guys talking about?" He asks. We just stare at him. Does he seriously not see the big tiger next to Thalia? Then Mitch suddenly widens his eyes. Which, by the way, he seems to be doing a lot ever since Thalia. "Do you guys see that too, by any chance?" Mitch asks, pointing to the tiger. I roll my eyes. Thalia grimaces. "Mitch? Are you ok?" I ask.
Thalia laughs at what I said. I smile at her, and she raises an eyebrow back at me. "Logan is right. I was suspecting you to be crazy, but not that crazy." She points to the tiger once again. "This guy has been here ever since I got here." Mitch frowns at both of us. "I assure you, I'm not crazy. I just wasn't...paying attention." I grin at his nervousness. "Sure. Not paying attention. How about we tell the head that?" I wasn't completely sure who the head was, but Mitch kept muttering something about 'pleasing the head' on our walk here. Mitch shoots Me a glare. I just laugh. "We should be leaving." Mitch says. Thalia and I both nod. Mitch takes a small pendant out of his pocket. It was a small coin, bronze and embedded with emeralds along the edge. On top it was a carved torch and sword, crossed.
Mitch caught me staring at the coin, and quickly hid it with his palm. "Alright, everybody." He says "scrunch yourselves up. This is gonna be hard." I raise my eyebrows. Yup. Mitch was insane. Thalia seemed to think so too. "You don't need to scrunch to walk" she pointed out. Mitch looks at her, but doesn't seem annoyed, which is totally unfair. If I had said that, he would of freaked out on me. "Who ever said we had to walk?" Mitch asks. "What about my tiger?!" Thalia protests, reaching down to pet her beast.
Suddenly, the tiger isn't there anymore. A locket is left inside Thalia's palm instead. She widens her eyes. "Wha-" but Mitch cuts her off. "Of course!" He yells, genuinely afraid now. "It's time to go. Time to go now." He throws the coin in the air, and all I see is a reddish purple swirl before I am pushed inside of it.
Then everything goes black.
