Chapter 5- Thalia
We walked for about 30 minutes before the tiger abruptly stopped. He turned towards me, his electrifying blue eyes piercing into mine. After a while, he turned his head, as if to nod. He cleared away the overgrown plants to reveal a tiny path. It was so hidden, anybody would of missed it. I wonder if whoever created it did that on purpose.
I walked the path and suddenly I heard a voice. I quickly squatted behind the bushes. The tiger opened his ear as if to listen, then gave me another nod of the head, as if to say, ok. I stepped out of my hiding place. I don't know why, but I trusted this tiger. After a few minutes of walking, we reached the origin of the voice. It was low, but kiddish at the same time. The man that was talking had a small goatee that was brown, just like his hair. He was talking to someone I couldn't see. I'm not used to bad habits, such as eves dropping, so I cleared my throat to indicate that I was there. They both abruptly stopped talking, and turned towards me. The man with the goatee stared at me, then asked,"are you lost?" I shook my head no. He smiled, showing large teeth. "What's your name then, young girly?" I raised my eyebrow. "Why would I tell a stranger my name? Haven't you ever heard if stranger danger, young lad?" I put an emphasis on lad, just to mock him. He put his hands up in the air. "Feisty. Good. Love it. To answer your question, however, asking a name is just formality, missy." He chuckled. I smiled. I decided to give him my name. My real name. Not my foster care name. I put my hand out for him to shake. "Well, if you put it that way, it's Thalia Meyers" he looked at me when I said that and his eyes widened with fear. At me.
