56 A Magical Day

Y/N had been quiet for most of the day after being dismissed from potions. The couple had gone to their special place and did their 'special things' as Hermione called them, before eventually meeting up with their friends for lunch. Following lunch they had DADA, then study til dinner, then Muggle Studies and finally Astronomy. They trudged back to the Gryffindor Common Room just after midnight completely exhausted.

It was now the day Hermione had been so looking forward to. It was Halloween, the day of the Hogsmeade trip. She woke up early, even though Y/N wasn't going to work out, and spent an hour picking out her clothes before deciding on jeans with a pink jumper and jacket.

She went out to the common room with Lavender at 8:00am and was surprised to see Y/N wasn't up yet. She waiting until he came down at 8:30 before going to breakfast.

"You ok baby?" She said as he came down the stairs, looking rather rough.

"Of course love" he lied. "Looking forward to today."

Hermione knew her boyfriend better than he knew himself, and when it came to Hermione he was a terrible liar. She kissed him before taking his hands and sitting him on the couch across from Lavender.

"Please love, tell me the truth" she said as she looked at him, giving him the best puppy dog eyes she could.

She knew how to get her boyfriend to come round- one look at those big brown eyes and his defences folded like a deck of cards. Y/N sighed:

"It's just everything the last few weeks babe" he said looking around, throwing up a silencing charm to make sure no one apart from Lavender was could hear their conversation.

"Demons coming after me, telling me big players want me dead, that I'm the key to the whole apocalypse, Angels being instructed by... I don't know, God, to follow my orders. It's just..."

"A lot to take in?" Lavender asked in a tone that was half sympathy and half understanding. Y/N nodded.

"Yeah, but I don't know where to even start processing all of this. I mean I only found out the last few years about being the Prophesied One, and that's enough to take in, that I'm destined to kill Voldemort. But this? It's too big. I've got no idea where to even begin with it."

Hermione hugged Y/N tightly. It was a genuine hug. A heartfelt hug. Y/N returned it, instantly feeling better just being in the embrace of his soulmate.

"There no answer Lav, or I, or anyone can give you Y/N. But just know I'll be right next to you as your girlfriend every step of the way." Hermione spoke as she squeezed tighter.

"Me too" Lavender smiled before getting raised eyebrows from Y/N and Hermione.

"No I mean as a friend not ... shut up" She stammered as the couple started laughing at her.

"Thanks girls. Seriously I mean it. Now let's go get breakfast before it's time to go on our big date, baby."

Y/N smiled as Hermione's eyes lit up at his words. She really was adorable when she got this excited.

They went down and had breakfast and chatted until 10am when it was time to go. They headed out to the clock tower courtyard where Filch was checking names off against the approved list of students who could attend.

Professor McGonagall spoke to the students who were all assembled before they entered the carriages.

"Now remember, these trips to Hogsmeade are a privilege. One that will be revoked should your behaviour in any way reflect badly on the school!"

The students started to get into the carriages as Harry ran up to Professor McGonagall with his form.

"No signed permission slip, no Hogsmeade visit. That's the rules, Potter." The professor said sternly, but with Gentle eyes.

"But Professor I thought if you signed-"

"It must be signed by a parent or guardian Harry, and as I am neither it wouldn't be appropriate. I'm sorry that's my final word on the subject."

The four friends looked at Harry sadly.

"Don't worry about it guys. Have a great time" Harry said sadly before he walked back into the hall, his shoulders slumped.

Y/N felt bad for Harry as they got into the carriage. He sat with his arm around Hermione's shoulder, Hermione leaning lovingly against his large frame as he said to Lavender and Ron across from him:

"It may be for the best. I know Harry can't see it but Hogsmeade could be an ambush waiting to happen."

"You mean..." Lavender asked trailing off. Y/N nodded:

"Yeah. Sirius Black."

"Shouldn't you stay back too then Y/N?" Ron asked which was instantly met with a death glare from Hermione. Ron gulped at the look before Y/N chuckled.

"No. If he even tried coming near Hermione and I got hold of him..."

Y/N trailed off but the implication was crystal clear to everyone. They soon arrived in Hogsmeade village and got out the carriage.

"So what do you guys want to do first?" Ron asked.

He was met by three looks which all translated to 'you are a moron!'

Lavender grabbed his sleeve and pulled him away from the couple, adding: "You're coming with me. Have a great time guys!"

With that she dragged Ron towards the sweet shop leaving the couple by themselves.

Finally.

Y/N kissed Hermione on the lips before taking her hand and smiling at her.

"So, where did you want to go first baby?"

Hermione smiled sweetly, replying:

"Oh, you can choose love"

Y/N chuckled:

"Come on, baby. You've been planning this for weeks. You choose where you want to go and I'm ecstatic to go wherever you want, as long as I'm with you." Y/N said warmly, giving Hermione a half smile/half smirk, the one she found irresistible.

She kissed him again, whispering: "You really are the best boyfriend", before dragging him towards the post office.

They were there for nearly 45 minutes. Hermione was absolutely fascinated. There were over 200 owls, and they were colour coded depending how fast you wanted your letter or package delivered.

The couple were allowed in the back of the office in the processing area and Hermione smiled in glee as she examined every aspect of its working.

In truth Y/N didn't have the slightest interest in the post office or their owl delivery system, but he was brought to absolute joy seeing Hermione so happy and excited.

This place was Hermione to a tee. It was ordered, logical and efficient- everything Hermione was. Y/N couldn't help but smile wildly at her the whole time.

Once they were finished at the post office Hermione insisted they visit somewhere Y/N wanted to go, so he took her to the Quidditch supply shop. He got a new polishing set for his broom and a pair of everlasting gloves, which could shrink or grow to fit your hands.

"You've never needed gloves before baby?" Hermione asked surprised at his purchase.

"They're not for me love. They're for Harry. Hopefully this will make him feel a little better about missing out on coming."

He paid and they exited the store.

"You really are a good friend love. Such a giant softy" Hermione giggled.

"Yeah... but don't tell anyone" Y/N winked. "I've got a rep I'm trying to maintain."

Hermione giggled. Y/N could always make her laugh.

After this it was Hermione's choice and they went to a book store. Of course.

Hermione looked through numerous magical subjects she hadn't studied before and Y/N secretly sent books she was interested in to the counter. He had told the clerk via legilimency to hold them for him. When Hermione had finally decided on a book she wanted they went to the counter. She placed the book on the counter and the clerk smiled.

"That will be 55 galleons please".

Hermione's eyes jumped out of her head.

"That's not possible, the price tag said 8 sickles?" Hermione gasped in a panic.

"I got this babe" Y/N smiled at the cashier as he paid with an authorisation from his Gringotts vault for the huge pile of books next to the counter. He started levitating them into his moke pouch. It took a moment before Hermione clicked what had happened, arguing:

"Baby no. It's much too much"

"Too late babe, the Goblins have already taken it out of my vault. Just let me read them when you're done with them" Y/N smiled before she kissed him gently on the lips.

"You are too good to me, Y/N L/N."

"Not possible Ms. Granger. If anything I'm not good enough for you" Y/N replied. His tone was genuine, not fishing for a compliment.

Hermione instantly opened her eyes wide and was about to berate him before he kissed her on the lips.

"Come on, my choice next" Y/N smiled.

He gently grabbed her hand and walked briskly, Hermione shaking her head still at what he had said and leaving a chuckling attendant in their wake.

"Just like when Penny and Dean used to come in here" he smiled to himself.

Y/N's choice next surprised Hermione.

"Your choice is to come to a jewellery store?" Hermione asked puzzled.

"Yep" Y/N smiled, walking over to the charms cabinet. Within a minute he had picked out what he wanted and paid for it, another 25 galleons.

He gently took Hermione's hand, unclipped her bracelet and added the charm.

"Baby you're spoiling me too much" Hermione said with a tone of guilt.

"Hermione, please. I want to. I feel so guilty when I have to go on hunts and how much I see you worry about me, I just really like spoiling you. Please?" Y/N asked.

She smiled and kissed her boyfriend again. "You never have to, but thank you for making me feel like a princess."

She smiled as she looked down at her new charm. It was a solid gold Hogsmeade town crest. Y/N smiled at her happiness and explained:

"To always remember our first proper uninterrupted date, my love."

Hermione leant up and kissed him. Again.

Y/N discreetly checked the price on a couple of other items he wanted as they left the store.

They spent the next couple of hours browsing, relaxing, just enjoying being young and in love before Hermione realised the time.

"It's 2pm love, we have to get in the carriages at 3. I did want to see the Shrieking Shack but we won't have time."

"We'll go next time love. Can't do everything in one day. How about we go to the three broomsticks for a butterbeer?" Y/N asked.

"That sounds like a lovely way to end the day darling" Hermione smiled.

They entered the busy pub and Lavender waved out to them from the table she was sharing with Ron.

"You sit down love I'll get the drinks in" Y/N smiled.

He walked towards the bar, discreetly transfiguring into Sam as he did. He got a huge gushing smile from the publican.

"Hello Sam, what can I get for you today?"

"Hey Rosmerta. Four butterbears, one with cinnamon and two firewhiskey shots please" 'Sam' smiled.

She placed the drinks on a no-spill charmed tray and 'Sam' paid.

"Keep the change" he smirked turning and walking to the table as he dropped his glamour.

Y/N sat the drinks on the table and handed them out. He pushed a firewhiskey towards Ron before taking one himself.

"Really babe?" Hermione asked with a raised eyebrow.

"Hunting tradition love. Today we make Ron a man. Bottoms up Weasley."

Y/N raised his shot glass towards Ron before downing the shot. Ron mimicked Y/N until he swallowed the shot and started choking.

"It's like fire" he managed between coughs as he gulped down the butter beer in front of him. Lavender rubbed his back as Y/N laughed raucously, gaining a slap on the arm from Hermione

"That's why its called firewhiskey, Ron" Y/N chuckled.

Hermione and Lavender shook their heads but before Hermione could take a sip of butterbeer, Y/N stopped her.

"Take a sip of my butterbeer first, love."

Hermione was puzzled but she did as she was asked.

"Oh it's very nice."

"Cool. Now try yours."

She took a sip and her eyes lit up as she made an audible 'mmmm'.

"Yours was nice but this is amazing love" Hermione gasped.

"Cool I'm glad. I know how much you love cinnamon so I asked Rosmerta to add a shot into it. Glad you like it baby."

She smiled, resting her head on Y/N's shoulder and talking to Lavender about their day.

The four friends had a nice couple of butterbeers before boarding a carriage to go back to the castle.

Hermione sat smiling, her head on Y/N's shoulder and playing with her new charm. It had been a truly magical day.
