45 Words Spoken in Anger
Hermione had come to accept a lot on faith with her boyfriend. There were times, like when he went ICBM on Lockhart, where she just acted on faith and trusted Y/N knew what he was doing. There were other times, like with the legilimency in Hagrid's hut, when she hadn't trusted in Y/N but she should have. All their experiences told her to trust in Y/N, to follow his lead. Still, this was a lot to accept, even for her boyfriend.
"So you were pulled into a hunt with Sam, where spirits of dead muggles tried to kill you, and they were raised by some crazy bitch named Lilith, who is the boss of the Knights of Merlin who murdered your dad and tortured you."
"Yes but...."
"And the whole reason for this hunt was a breaking of a seal, a seal to the cage of Lucifer, the actual Devil, Lucifer; and Voldemort returning is another seal."
"Yeah but...."
"And you think I'm going to be ok with it because you said "I'm fine?""
Hermione used air quotes for the last two words. This was not good- sassy and angry Hermione was not good at all. Before Y/N could say anything in reply Hermione stood and walked to the Room of Requirement door. She stopped and spoke without turning around:
"We should spend tonight in our dorms in case McGonagall is watching us. Sev can only cover up for us for so long."
With that she left. Y/N sighed and held his head in his hands. A small green creature emerged from his hood and stood on his shoulder, gently rubbing his father's face.
"Thanks, Newt. I love you too. Nothing is ever simple though, is it?" he muttered to his tiny Bowtruckle before stroking the tiny creature lovingly and returning to his dorm. He didn't see Hermione on the way or in the Common Room. He didn't speak to anyone, he had been up for over 24 hours at this point and he needed to sleep.

Y/N woke up at his usual time, barely refreshed but still nice and sore. He got up quietly and got ready to work out. His conversation with Castiel the previous day confirmed one thing to him- evil wasn't taking a break so he couldn't afford one either. He went to the common room and waited for twenty minutes with no sign of Hermione.
"Barley" he called out, the sweet little House Elf appearing in front of him with a huge smile:
"Yes Mr Y/N L/N, what can Barley do for you?"
"Barley, could you please check if Hermione is awake?" He asked politely. The elf disappeared and reappeared a moment later.
"No sir she is still asleep".
"No worries. Thanks Barley I appreciate it."
"Always happy to help you, Mr. Y/N L/N."
The elf disappeared again and Y/N headed off to his workout alone. After he finished and showered he headed down to breakfast.
He sat alone, first eating his fruit and then yoghurt mix before starting on a large pile of eggs in front of him and began reading one of his books on Archons. He was about halfway through his eggs when he heard a girl with a Scottish accent speaking.
"I think it would take all the chickens of my village to keep you going."
Y/N looked up to see an admittedly beautiful Ravenclaw girl in front of him.
Y/N smiled bashfully as he answered:
"Yeah, I have a pretty intense workout schedule so a high protein, low fat breakfast is good for me."
He blushed slightly, feeling embarrassed, like he had to explain his eating habits to a stranger. The girl giggled before sitting across from him.
"I'm Cho Chang, a fourth year from Ravenclaw. Nice to meet you."
She held her hand out to shake which Y/N did, trying his best to give her a firm shake without breaking her hand.
"Y/N L/N, pleasure to meet you too."
The girl smiled and giggled again, adding: "I know who you are. I think everyone knows who you are, you must know that."
Y/N blushed again, replying: "Yeah, but assuming it kind of makes me look like a dick."
Cho laughed more this time and smiled as she pushed some hair behind her ear.

The pair had been sat talking for about twenty minutes when Hermione and Lavender walked into the great hall. Y/N didn't notice. He was enjoying his conversation with Cho, she was funny, sweet and easy to talk to. Plus, her brutal Scottish sense of humour cracked Y/N up.
Hermione saw fire as she caught sight of Y/N talking with a girl and stormed straight over to her boyfriend. Lavender swore under her breath, Hermione had been in a foul mood all morning.
"What's going on here?" Hermione snapped at the pair as she arrived abruptly. Y/N looked up towards his girlfriend puzzled, asking in a shocked tone:
"What do you mean, love?"
Cho quickly read the room and smiled at Y/N, saying:
"I'd better be going. Nice talking to you, Y/N"
Cho smiled as she left to return to her friends at the Ravenclaw table, who started whisper-gossiping and giggling as soon as she arrived back.
"'Mione, we were just talking?" Y/N half asked/half replied, confused as to why Hermione was so upset.
"Yeah whatever" she mumbled, turning and taking a seat three spaces down from Y/N, slamming her bag down as she did.
An intimidating dark expression grew on Y/N's face as he muttered under his breath and finished his breakfast. The atmosphere of the whole hall seemed to grow darker and heavier. He finished eating and got up to go to class, walking passed Hermione and Lavender without saying a word.
As he got to the Great Hall's giant doors Harry met him, entering at the same time.
"Morning Y/N" Harry said cheerfully, jumping when Y/N barked back:
"So sorry, Harry. I can't fucking talk to you or I might get in fucking trouble!"
Y/N stormed out the doors and Harry stood there resembling a stunned mullet. Bea walked over from the Hufflepuff table and placed a hand gently on his shoulder. She said quietly:
"I think it's a lover's tiff, Harry. Pay it no mind."
"Oh ok. Right. Thanks Bea" Harry said in relief before sitting at the Gryffindor table.

The Gryffindors had double Charms until lunch to start the day, and Y/N was by far the first to arrive. He walked into class, grunting a good morning to his teacher as he sat in his usual spot, at the front of the left hand side row of seats in the classroom.
Flitwick told Y/N he was going to the teacher's lounge but that Y/N could stay and read. Y/N nodded.

At ten to nine the teacher returned to charms, entering along with Hermione and Lavender. To the surprise of Flitwick, Lavender and especially Y/N, Hermione sat in the row across from Y/N.
Hermione looked at him momentarily but looked away, pulling out her Charms textbook to read. Lavender looked at Y/N sympathetically and smiled before she at next to Hermione.
A look of frustration grew on Y/N's face as he turned back to the Archon book he was reading, Ancient Evils.
Flitwick looked concerned between the two students before noticing Y/N's book and squealing.
"Mr. L/N! That book is from the restricted section"
Y/N looked up darkly and responded in a deep voice:
"No, it's not"
"Yes it is" Flitwick squeaked again.
"No, it's my personal copy,sir"
"Where did you get that?" Flitwick asked with a panicked gasp.
"Knockturn Alley" Y/N replied coldly.
The Professor squealed again, asking: "What were you doing there, Y/N?"
Y/N was getting extremely frustrated as he replied through gritted teeth:
"Buying a book"
The Professor stopped asking questions and Y/N continued to read without looking up. As more students entered the classroom someone stopped next to Y/N.
"Is this seat taken?" they asked. It was Yuffie Wallace, a fellow Gryffindor third year that Hermione and Lavender didn't get on with. She was a naive, vacuous airhead and Hermione didn't like the lustful looks she found Yuffie gave Y/N.
"Doesn't appear so, Yuffie" Y/N answered without looking up from his book.
Yuffie sat next to Y/N with a smile and started droning on and on about her pet rabbit and her parents and....
Suddenly words stopped coming out. She kept talking but nothing could be heard. Lavender giggled, recognising the silencing charm Y/N had cast on the annoying girl.

Flitwick began his lesson. It was a four hour lecture on Surface-Layer Physical Charms. Y/N didn't look at Hermione the whole time.

Hermione and Lavender arrived at the great hall for lunch and immediately noticed Y/N wasn't there. As the two girls sat after getting their sandwiches Lavender spoke:
"You have to talk to him 'Mione. This silent treatment is a bit much."
Hermione looked at Lavender angrily before the anger passed and she sighed:
"It's just first he is so dismissive of nearly dying and then I find him chatting up that Ravenclaw tart."
Lavender's jaw dropped.
"Really, Hermione? You really think that's what happened?"
"Well what would you say it was, Lav?"
"They were at our normal spot, Y/N was eating breakfast and had a book in front of him. She obviously approached him. And they were just talking. Look babe, Y/N is tall, handsome and kind of a bad boy, not to mention a noble. Of course girls are gonna try it on. You haven't helped by ignoring him."
Hermione looked down sadly and Lavender hugged her best friend tight, whispering in Hermione's ear:
"Just talk to him, ok."
Hermione nodded.

Following lunch the Gryffindors had Herbology. The two girls entered and looked around, Hermione's face dropped. Y/N wasn't in there either.
"Professor Sprout do you know where Y/N is?" Hermione asked the teacher concerned.
"Oh yes. He had to go on an emergency field trip with Professor Winchester. As he has an extensive knowledge of Dittany which we are covering today I said it wasn't a problem for him to go." Sprout answered happily.
Hermione's face dropped. She couldn't focus for the rest of the lesson. Lavender made sure she noted everything for her best friend. As soon as the lesson finished they walked towards their last class of the day- History of Magic. Y/N was already in class but he looked extremely tired. Before Hermione could approach him Susan Bones had already asked if she could sit next to him.
"May as well do Susan. No one else will want to" Y/N answered, the tiredness audible in his voice. Susan smiled and batted her eyelids, asking in a sweet voice:
"So who is this Professor Winchester? What excursion did you go on?"
Y/N looked at Susan and smiled. From where Hermione sat she could see his tired eyes.
"It's a long story and I'm bloody exhausted. Another time maybe Susan" Y/N said politely to the girl before turning back to Rowan, who was about to start teaching. He was unaware Hermione sat behind him with a sad look on her face.
"Before we start I just need to let you know I need to see you after class, Y/N" Rowan smiled. Y/N nodded.
The lecture on the Witch Hunts took the whole hour. The whole class except Y/N left. He sat through his Magical Theory class, which focused on spell creation, and his Ancient Studies class, during which he learnt about Ancient Egypt and their tome the Book of the Dead.
It was to say he was exhausted after he used his time turner and turned back the clock to 3:15. He exited the class to find Hermione waiting alone for him.
"Hey" she said shyly.
"Hey" he replied back.
"Can we talk?" Hermione asked as she looked up at her lover with sad eyes.
"That's up to you 'Mione. You're the one who was ignoring me the past three days" Y/N replied.
Hermione looked at Y/N confused as he realised what he said.
"Today. Sorry. Time travel messes with you."
"You were gone with Sam for three days?" Hermione asked in shocked realisation.
"Yeah. A nasty group of Wendigo set up in the Forest of Dean. We had to find and unfortunately we cull them all."
"What's a wendigo? Hermione asked. Y/N sent her a terrifying, but non violent, memory.
He couldn't show her what he and Sam had found. What had happened to the people they couldn't save. The sight in that cave would haunt Y/N for a long time.
"Merlin's Beard!" Hermione gasped. "How many were there?"
"I don't know like, thirty?" Y/N answered.

The couple had reached the Black Lake and were alone, sat against a tree, the only other being within their vicinity was the Giant Squid, who was frolicking on the water's surface, enjoying the afternoon sun.
"I'm sorry for being angry at you. It just scares me you going out doing these hunts." Hermione said sadly as she hugged into Y/N tightly.
Y/N sighed and dropped his stoic facade, leaning down to kiss Hermione on the head. She repositioned herself quickly and kissed him softly on the lips. He spoke gently:
"Look baby, Sam really was upset about dragging me in. But I saved his life Hermione. I literally saved his life. He would've died in that bathroom if I wasn't there. Me, my powers, I helped stop men and women from dying with the wraiths. I know I was hurt, but damn babe, the strength and magic I have, I couldn't forgive myself if I just sat back afraid of what could happen and let people die. And this hunt with the Wendigos, we saved fifteen lives. They had fifteen people hanging in their lair, ready to be eaten. I can't just stand back and let people die, Hermione. You're the same. You couldn't either. It's why we are Gryffindors."
Hermione opened her mouth to speak, before closing it again and kissing Y/N once more on the lips. She sighed:
"I know. You're right, it's just hard, knowing you are in danger. And how exactly did you even manage to get back when you did?"
"Uh yeah, I didn't arrive back until about 2 in the morning... uh, this morning I think? Dumbledore was waiting for me. And today I timed it to get back ten minutes early and walked to History of Magic."
Hermione looked at Y/N puzzled, asking:
"But love, Professor McGonagall said time turners only go back five hours?"
Y/N chuckled.
"Oh right- yeah Ministry approved time turners like yours are capped at five hours. This baby-"
Y/N smirked holding his up from his chest. "It's a real time turner. I could go back to the day we were born if I wanted to. That's why they are banned."
Hermione's mouth dropped open:
"So how did you get one?"
Y/N answered with a smirk:
"The Department of Mysteries provides its interns with only the very best, baby."
Hermione giggled and rolled her eyes at her corny boyfriend. Y/N leaned in to kiss once more and Hermione eagerly reciprocated. As they parted she said with a smile:
"Let's stay here until dinner and then go to the library, catch up today's lessons."
"Sounds great babe." Y/N smiled.
The couple sat there on the beautiful shores of the Black Lake hugging, enjoying the September sun and sounds of nature. The day ended far better than it had began.
