Vow (AmbergrisJane)

Vow

I'm sitting here beside you, don't be afraid.

I'll hold your hand, and never let go.

I promised. I promise.

The sun is about to set now.

Not yet dark.

The sun's just there, hanging, holding on, low, but not too low.

It's your favorite time of the day, love.

Dusk.

You made tea just about this minute, using that old chipped tea set that we got from your sister as a wedding gift.

I made tea. Can you smell it?

It's mint. Your favorite.

I have one of those biscuits that you like.

The ginger ones.

I like them crispy but you love them chewy, so you'd leave them out in the air a bit, as you said,

"To get the juices going."

I'm leaving one out of the tin for you, just in case.

The sea breeze is blowing gently, dear.

Gently, gently.

Bringing with it the sound of the waves as it laps the shore. Can you hear it?

The rushing water as it kisses the sand?

It lulled you to sleep all the time.

It lulls me to sleep everytime.

I hold your hand tighter. Tighter. Tighter.

I won't let go. I promised.

I promise.

The sun's half way into the sea now, love.

And I know how much you love it's golden light.

I love how you smiled when the light turned our gray hairs gold, my green, and your gray eyes, brown.

It still does now.

Your hair, gold, gleaming in the sunset.

It's quite a lovely sight.

I'm here love. Don't be afraid.

The sun has gone beyond the horizon.

The night's come, but I'm still here.

I'm still here.

I'll hold your hand, and never let go.

I promised, didn't I?

I promise.
