"Fondue is just cheese and bread, my friend." I heard Howard muttering to Steve, while I was leading the way. They trailed back, thinking I couldn't hear their loud whispers.
"Really? I didn't think..." Steve whispered back.
"Nor should you, pal." Howard interrupted. "The moment you think you know what's going on in a woman's head is the moment your goose is well and truly cooked. Me, I concentrate on work, which at the moment is about making sure you and your men do not get killed."

I sighed as I stopped in front of the metal table.
"Carbon Polymer." Howard said, louder this time. He pointed at a weird looking thing. "Should withstand your average German bayonet. Although HYDRA's not going to attack you with a pocket knife." He moved on to Steve's show shield. "I hear that you're kind of attached." He points a finger at me. "And that you want one too." I simply nod in response, too angry to form words in my mouth.
"It's handier than you might think." Steve gave it a tap before following behind Howard.

"I took the liberty of coming up with some options." Howard declared proudly. He nodded his head at the table before him. I stepped up to take a look.
"This one's fun!" Howard continued excitedly. "She's been fitted with electrical relays that allow you to-"
"I find it concerning that you're calling the shield 'her'" I narrowed my eyes at him. He rolled his eyes.
"What about these?!" Steve asked as he pulled two shields out from under the table. He handed me one and I immediately fell in love.

"No, no. That's just a prototype." Howard protested.
"What's it made out of?" I asked in wonder as I tried it out. It was light and cool against my arm.
"Vibranium." Howard replied. "It's stronger than steel but a third the weight."
"How did you even get your hands on this?" I gawked at him.
He shrugged. "It's completely vibration absorbent."
"How come it's not standard issue?" Steve put it around his arm like his other shield.
"That's the rarest metal on earth." he replied. "What you both are holding, that's all we've got."

"You quite finished, Mr. Stark?" Peggy walked up to us from around the corner, still radiating anger. "I'm sure the Captain has some unfinished business."
"Ahh that he does." I glanced at him to see that he was already looking at me. He looked sad but quickly looked back at Peggy.

"What do you think?" he asked proudly, showing off the shield on his arm. Peggy grabbed a gun from the table and swiftly turned back. Steve was quick enough to cover his face as four loud shots rang in the room. Everyone grew dead silent and I gawked at Peggy with my mouth hung open. But I was overcome by laughter as I glanced at Steve's face. He looked like someone just kicked his puppy. I tried hiding my laughter behind my hands but failed. Howard looked at me like I was insane since I was the only one wheezing.

"His face." I  mouthed to Howard. He rolled his eyes in amusement but he was still shocked. Peggy is VERY protective of me.
"Yes, I think it works!" she said, mockingly excited. She slammed the gun before walking past us with a glare. But she shot me a warm smile and strutted out of the room. Howard and I moved to stand beside Steve. I was still grinning when Steve looked down at me. I shrugged with a proud smirk and glanced at Howard.

"I had some ideas about the uniform." Steve pulled out a piece of paper from his pocket and handed it to Howard.
"And here's mine." I muttered sweetly, pulling out mine and giving it to Howard. Mine was very simple. I just wanted legging, a comfortable shirt with a jacket. In the back of the jacket, I wanted my symbol. A pair of black wings with a sapphire in the middle.

"Whatever you want." Howard grabbed it and stared after Peggy. After handing mine, I also strutted out and I could feel their gaze on me as I exited the room.
