Chapter Twenty-Three (Part 2)

Author Note:

I would just like to apologize for updating so late. I really wanted to update months ago already, but things came up, and I just wasn't able to. So again, I'm really really sorry!

Quick question. There's an edited version of this story available on Ao3. It's got a few extra chapters, the grammar is way better, and the plot is slightly different. And the reason for that is because many people where confused about some of the scenes, so I decided to change the story a little so that it makes more sense. Would you as the readers want to read it?
If so, I will also be uploading that version here on Wattpad.

Standing hand-in-hand, Adrien and Marinette eventually made it to the very top of the Eifel Tower. It took a few seconds for the elevator to come to a complete standstill, but once it did, a sense of deep curiosity immediately entered both of their souls.

Taking in a deep breath, a dull ringing sound flooded their eardrums before the metallic doors opened. At that very moment, the young female's body was left paralyzed by the magnificent scene that stood before her.

Still rendered speechless, Marinette squeezed her boyfriend's hand while searching his unsure face for a hint of understanding. She was nervously trying to fit the puzzle pieces together.

It was clear that a lot of effort had been done to make the place look so spectacular. Many stunning little lights were stuck to the ceiling of the tower, which in some way made it feel like they were staring up into space.

As her eyes began to slowly take in the rest of the room, her heart began to unconsciously race when she took a glimpse of the wonderful layout of the table. Right in the middle, was a huge bouquet of many bright red roses. In close proximity to them lay a number of lose rose petals that were unequally spread out all over the wooden table.

Not able to contain her joy, the bluenette suddenly blurted out, "Wow! This is so beautiful... How did you-"

Not saying anything, Adrien just gave her a mischievous grin before winking.

Just then, a young man who looked to be about twenty-five approached the happy, young couple. He had dark brown hair that was almost black, brown eyes and an olive complexion.

Holding onto what appeared to be two menus, the nameless man politely smiled at the teenagers before gesturing behind him.

"Good evening Adrien and Marinette. Your table is right this way."

Marinette could feel herself frown. She had never seen that man before in her entire life. She began to wonder how he knew her name, but then a thought came to mind. Perhaps Adrien told the waiter her name, but she decided not to think about it too much.

Still holding onto his hand, the baker followed him to their table. Once they got there, the blond slowly released her hand from his protective grip. Without thinking, Adrien pulled out her chair for her.

It took a few seconds for Marinette to process what had just happened. When she realized what was happening, she couldn't help but smile at her boyfriend's undeniable romantic personality.

"Thank you, Love."

"Only a pleasure, Princess."

Once she was comfortably seated upon her chair, Adrien gently pushed her in.

Seeing that she was content, the model quickly walked over to his seat before sitting down. Once the two teens were both sitting down, the waiter smiled before handing both of them a menu.

"Would you care for something to drink?" The waiter asked in a thick Spanish accent.

Looking up from the black booklet, Adrien forced a smile, "I'll just go with a cappuccino for the meantime. And what about you Mari? What do you feel like drinking?"

Slightly glancing at the scatterbrained female, the blond patiently waited for a response.

"Uhm... I don't really know... All these options are very tempting, and expensive too! I don't know if I can even afford a glass of water-" She nervously laughed.

Frowning, Adrien softly placed a hand upon hers, "Hey... Don't even worry about the prices. Okay..? I'll pay for everything. Just get whatever you want," gently rubbing his thumb along her sensitive skin, he gave her a tender-hearted smile.

The fencer's words confused her a little, but she chose not to express her internal conflict, and quickly nodded her head.

"Oh... Th-Thanks Adrien! That's really kind of you-"

Interrupting his girlfriend, Adrien gave her a suspicious look, "Did you really think that I was going to let my girl pay for herself?"

Marinette's cheeks instantly felt hot when he unexpectedly referred to her as 'his girl'. She obviously knew that they were officially an item, but at times it was still very difficult to believe that it wasn't just a beautiful dream.

Shyly tucking a single strand of hair behind her ear, she attempted to smile. "Uhm... No! I just- I wasn't-"

Adrien's expression softened. He immediately knew that the blue-eyed girl wasn't used to this type of attention. And due to that simple reason, he felt even more adamant to help her to feel special.

"Tonight is all about you. Okay? Please don't even worry about the money or anything else."

Her breath was instantly taken away. His immeasurable kindness and amazingly sweet personality was just so irresistible, that the poor bluenette instantly melted into a big, gooy puddle.

Making sure to not seem vulnerable, Marinette smiled while softly closing the menu.

"Well in that case... I think I'll just go with a strawberry milkshake."

Taking her response as confirmation, the waiter whose name tag read 'Jean-Luc' simply nodded his head before writing something down on his notepad.

"Coming right up!" Jean-Luc joyfully announced.

He slightly turned around, but stopped himself when he seemed to have forgotten something.

"Uh... Wait..! Would you guys like something to eat? Or do you need a couple of minutes to decide?"

Without hesitating, Adrien spoke up. "I think we'll have the chef's choice," he quickly glanced at Marinette momentarily to see if she agreed. When he saw that she seemed to agree, he took her menu from her. Placing one on top off the other, the blond then gave them both to the waiter.

"Okay, sure! No problem! Your meal will be ready in about twenty to thirty minutes or so..." The awkward young man unknowingly scratched his neck before walking away.

Once he was no longer in sight, Marinette immediately glanced over at Adrien with a very warm smile written upon her pale face.

"How did you do all of this? And how were you able to rent out this whole entire place for just the two of us..?" She asked in a skeptical tone.

The sweet male looked at his girlfriend with kind eyes and gave her a happy smile, "I have a few tricks up my sleeve."

"So you're a magician now?" The curious baker girl raised an eyebrow in skepticism.

"You could call it that."

Marinette softly giggled at his response. She honestly didn't know how he was able to pull it off. But in that moment, she didn't really care. She was just so greatful for the fact that she got to spend some extra, additional time with the love of her life.

Never in her wildest dreams had she ever imagined that she would one day find herself falling madly in love with the most popular guy in school. But all of that changed the moment he showed her his true colors...

Adrien, sensing the girl's unresponsive behavior thoughtlessly waved a hand in front of her face. He was hoping that that would get her attention.

"You alright, Princess?"

Eventually realizing that she had unknowingly zoned out, Marinette's face replicated surprise. She rapidly nodded her head as she attempted to apologize.

Her voice seemed unsure, "Yes! Sorry, I was just thinking..."

The bluenette's response raised a bit of curiosity. Adrien gave his girl a suspicious expression as he aimlessly tried to figure out her unknown, yet very intriguing thoughts.

"About..?"

"Well if you must know... I was just thinking about how amazing you are, and how lucky I am to have you as my boyfriend!"

The model didn't know why, but those words had somehow managed to cause a deep scarlet blush to cover most of his naturally tanned face. Although he knew that they were official, her unexpected complements always seemed to catch him by surprise.

Choosing to bury his vulnerability in the back of his mind, Adrien reached for his confident persona before playfully grinning.

"I know I'm amazing and so much more, but have you looked in the mirror lately..?"

At first Marinette was a little confused by the question. Which in turn caused her to frown. But when she finally understood, she couldn't help but giggle and gently slapped her boyfriend's hand.

"Oh my gosh, Adrien! Seriously..?"

He winked, "Don't worry, I'm just messing around," his face immediately became very serious, "But it's true though. You are really amazing! And honestly... I'm actually the lucky one here... You might not believe it, but you've already given me so much! And for that reason alone, I owe you everything..."

The blue-eyed girl's heart started to beat faster as she continued to listen to Adrien's honest words. He was just so sweet and caring that Marinette couldn't even find the right words to express all of her immense gratitude.

"I uh..."

Seeing that she was struggling to respond, the blond decided that it was the perfect time to give her the very thoughtful gift that he had chosen for her. Glancing away for a short moment, Adrien reached inside of his jacket pocket. Once he found what he was initially looking for, he pulled out his hand, only to reveal a small square, black box.

After taking a glimpse of the relatively small box, Marinette instantly felt faint. A hundred thoughts were racing through her head at that exact moment. She could only assume that it contained some type of jewelry or perhaps an exotic ornament.

"I actually wanted to wait till later, but I just feel like this is the perfect time..." the young man said while nervously brushing his fingers along the cardboard exterior.

"Wh-What..?"

"It's just something small, but I wanted to get you something to officialise our relationship... I know that we are official and all that, but I just thought that when two people are serious about each other, they signify their love for each other with some type of a symbol-"

Marinette's eyes grew wide, not knowing what to think. In her mind it definitely sounded like some type of a proposal, which made her a little worried, because they were no where near that stage in their relationship.

She wanted to ask what he meant by that, but she felt like it was safer for him to just continue talking. That way, she would hopefully find all the answers that she was looking for.

Looking into her shy blue eyes, Adrien felt obligated to continue speaking. He took in a deep breath as he slowly began opening the mysterious box.

"Don't worry... I'm not proposing. Well at least not yet," his coy smile instantly morphed into a cocky smirk.

Feeling a little relieved, Marinette gave her boyfriend an extremely shy smile before attempting to meet his curious emerald eyes.

Just as Adrien was about to open his mouth in order to say something more, the waiter had unexpectedly returned with their drinks in hand.

The popular model felt a little discouraged, because their 'moment' had been disrupted. Although he was feeling a tad bit awkward, he chose not to let his emotions take control of him.

Not letting either of the teenagers get the chance to speak, Jean-Luc rushed to place the drinks on the wooden table.

"A coffee for Mr Adrien, and a strawberry milkshake for Mlle Marinette," the young man said while giving the right drink to the right person. "Your meals will be ready shortly," he slightly nodded.

"Thank you Jean-Luc," the kind baker politely said while placing a straw into her glass.

He tried to smile, "You are welcome, Miss. I should... Get going-"

With that, the waiter quickly raced off without muttering another word. He disappeared back into the kitchen, leaving behind the confused young couple.

Reverting her gaze away from the kitchen, Marinette made eye contact with the blond, "That was... weird..."

After taking a sip of his coffee, Adrien placed his mug down. Mirroring the same expression as the very beautiful young woman who sat in front of him, he nodded his head in agreement.

"Yeah... He seems like a very socially awkward kinda guy. But enough about him... Where were we?" His voice automatically shifted to a much deeper, more seductive tone.

The humble young lady found herself giggling at her boyfriend's terrible attempt at trying to seduce her. Although she knew that he could definitely be a huge flirt when he really wanted to be, she honestly believed that he was way better suited at being his normal, more natural self.

"If I can recall correctly, you were about to propose," Marinette responded in a slightly sarcastic tone.

Grinning as wide as the Cheshire cat, Adrien leaned forward until his face was merely a few centimeters away.

"Hmm... No lady is able to resist my exceptional charm. So you should consider yourself lucky, Purrincess! Be glad that I chose you above everyone else," he happily chanted.

Waiting for a few seconds to pass, the blue-eyed girl rolled her eyes, a bit annoyed at his overly flirtatious attitude.

She raised a hand before playfully pushing his face away, "Pfft... What charm?"

"Meowch... M'lady you wounded me!" He cried out in defense while dramatically holding onto his broad chest, "My poor, little heart has been completely ripped to shreds... And now, thanks to you, every last ounce of blood is being drained right out of my body as we speak!"

Sensing the pain in his playful, yet slightly honest response, Marinette frowned with an immense amount of regret.

"... I- I didn't mean- Sorry, I-" The regretful female attempted to voice her apologies, yet she couldn't seem to find the right words.

Softly laughing to himself, Adrien winked, "I was only joking! But you have to admit that I do have some charm at least," he raised an eyebrow, waiting for his girlfriend's honest opinion.

Feeling slightly relieved, the kind baker girl deeply exhaled, "Don't scare me like that, you dumb cat!" Her eyebrows formed a single crease in the center of her forehead, slightly annoyed.

Almost instantly her expression softened when she realized that Adrien just wanted her to reassure him that she still cared.

"But on the contrary, you have more charm than anyone else in the entire world! Your heart is pure and your intentions are nothing but good.... I guess what I'm trying to say is that..." It took a few seconds for her nerves to calm down, before deciding to say what needed to be said, "I will always love you, Adrien Agreste! More than you'll ever know or even realize..." Marinette gave her handsome boyfriend an adorable tender-hearted smile, before shyly looking away.

Seeing the infinite mounds of sympathy in her bright, bluebell eyes, Adrien couldn't help but return her smile. Without thinking, he reached for the female's exposed hand. Once it was tightly locked in his, he gave it a slight squeeze, before longingly staring into those magnificent eyes which concealed so much emotion.

"Let me tell you a secret," the blond suddenly spoke up.

His unexpected statement really caught the baker girl by surprise. She could feel the uncertainty of Adrien's words begin to slightly way her down.

Whispering, Marinette tried to look confident, "Wh-What..?"

Pulling his girlfriend towards his face, Adrien smirked, "I love you too."

Before the bluenette even got the chance to respond, she felt the warm, intoxicating sensation of his lips upon her own. Right at that exact second, she could feel all of her insides erupt with euforia. Sitting there, while the man of her dreams passionately kissed her tender lips was honestly such an amazing feeling.

Although she had felt his lips countless times already, no amount would ever be enough. All she wanted was for time to stop, so that she could spend forever with Adrien. But deep down, she knew that that was unfortunately impossible...

To her disappointment, the young model eventually let her go. She wanted him to continue kissing her, until she burned with an unquenched passion. But too bad for her, this was reality!

Hesitantly opening her eyes, she finally saw a pair of unreadable emerald green ones staring right back at her. The way he was looking at her, made her insides twist with uncertainty.

"Here."

Following his eyes to the small black box which rested between his fingertips, Marinette's heart began to aggressively pound in her chest.

Her voice replicated curiosity, "What is it..?"

Smiling, Adrien let go of her hand, "Open it and see for yourself."

The suspense in the male's deep voice, caused a slight blush to cover the majority of Marinette's pale cheeks. Waiting for a couple of seconds, she decided that she couldn't wait any longer. She needed to know what was inside.

Without saying anything, Marinette making sure to be extra careful, slowly opened the tiny box. At first she couldn't quite understand what it was, but when she reached for the gold pendant, it became clear that it was in fact a handmade necklace.

The single piece of jewelry was magnificent to say the very least. A stunning, gold pendant in the shape of a violin hung from the thin, metallic chain. Still speechless, the young female began to closely inspect her present.

The words 'I love you' was written in bright red. Reading the very simple sentence had managed to cause Marinette's eyes to become a little teary. Although it was indeed a very basic gift, the thought and meaning behind it was what really got her attention.

"Oh Adrien... Th- Thank you! It-It's absolutely beautiful..." She said, while gently wiping her eyes in order to prevent any tears from running down her cheeks.

Glancing into her exquisite eyes, Adrien's lips turned into a huge smile, "I'm glad you like it, because I made it myself."

The baker's lips instantly parted, shocked by her boyfriend's very unexpected words.

"... You did..? But how?" She honestly question.

Shaking his head, the blond refused to answer the question, "This cat has a couple of secrets in the bag." He mischievously grinned while pointing to himself.

Frowning, Marinette tried to laugh, "I can see that. But seriously though... Did you really make this? I mean- I didn't think that you were the jewelry-making typea guy..."

"You'll be surprised at what I am capable of, Purrincess... There's still a lot left to be discovered-" He paused when he saw the helpless girl struggling with her necklace. "Here- Let me help!"

Leaving his seat without a single hesitation, Adrien hurriedly made his way over to his cute girlfriend's chair. Not saying anything more, he took the gold chain from her, and attempted to help her with it.

Once it was positioned correctly around her slender neck, Adrien smiled to himself, as he gently brushed a hand along Marinette's jaw.

"It suits you perfectly," he honestly admitted.

Still blushing, the blue-eyed girl shyly smiled, "Th-Thanks... It's perfect because you made it for me."

Adrien was about to respond to that but, the waiter had returned with their meals. On the one hand he was grateful that he could finally satisfy his grumbling belly, but on the other hand, he was a little disappointed that their moment had been disrupted for the second time that evening.

As they both sat down to enjoy their delicious meals together, Marinette began to wonder about her future with Adrien. She was beyond excited about all of the countless possibilities that could potentially happen.

Thoughtlessly grazing her delicate fingers along the metallic chain, the bluenette smiled, knowing that her future was in good hands, because it envolved a certain green-eyed blond who had somehow managed to fall head over heels inlove with his enemy.
