Chapter Twenty-Three (Part 1)
As the excitement faded away into a soothing tranquil atmosphere, Adrien subconsciously reached for Marinette's hand that was dangling by her side.
Without even thinking, the bluenette immediately gave her boyfriend's hand a slight squeeze as she lovingly gazed into his beautiful, emerald green eyes. Now that they were alone, the blond suddenly felt more confident.
He returned her smile after giving her a playful wink, which in turn caused the shy violinist to slightly blush. She didn't know what he was planning, but he seemed to be up to something...
The reality of all the various possibilities suddenly made her feel rather anxious. All she wanted was to step outside of the auditorium for some peace and quiet, but Adrien seemed adamant that they needed to go to the Eifel Tower.
Just as soon as they stepped outside, they began making their way towards the metalic building. Although Adrien's suggestion was very sudden and unexpected, Marinette was curious yet excited to know what all the hype was about.
Not being able to conceal her curiosity any longer, the young designer opened her mouth to say something, but stopped herself when Adrien gave her a concerned look.
"Is everything okay..?" he immediately frowned.
Marinette quickly nodded her head before giving him a kind smile, "Yes. Everything is perfect... But-"
Her sudden hesitation gave the pianist a painful sense of unwanted familiarity. Most of the time, her indecisiveness was a bad thing, because that meant that something was wrong... But Adrien was just hoping that it wasn't too serious.
Instantly interrupting his negative train of thought, his girlfriend continued her rambling.
"I'm just curious as to why we are heading towards the Eifel Tower... I know that it's spectacular and all. But I also know that it's usually closed at this hour..."
The blond could feel himself relax. He took in a deep breath before exhaling in relief. Finally knowing what she was thinking, Adrien stopped in his tracks in order to plant a loving kiss upon the bluenette's forehead.
Instantly, Marinette could feel the heat rise to her pale cheeks. How did he always manage to catch her off guard?
"B- Wh- I... Uh..." she couldn't even form a logical sentence, since the butterflies in her stomach were somehow preventing her from speaking.
After she had exhausted her final attempt, she merely tried to hide her rosy cheeks in her hands while looking forward.
Giving the embarrassed girl a mischievous smirk, the blond slightly squeezed her tiny hand, "Don't worry, Princess. Everything will be fine. Trust me!"
Those words gave the baker a sence of internal peace because she knew that she could trust him; no matter what! And since he seemed very confident about his unknown 'plan', Marinette unconsciously knew that everything would be okay.
Not saying anything more, the bluenette gave Adrien a reassuring smile before following him hand-in-hand.
A calm silence soon filled the space between them as they continued to make their way towards their final destination.
After about twenty minutes had passed by, the two teenagers eventually made it to the Eifel Tower. Although the darkness was surrounding them, the artificial lights that were present all over the tower's exterior seemed to somehow complement it. The beautiful lights seemed to dance to the music that was coming from the top of the tower.
Both Marinette and Adrien couldn't help but smile as they silently watched the miraculous spectecal that was occurring right in front of them.
In the midst of everything, the female suddenly felt a wave of deep adoration crash upon her entire being. She couldn't explain it, but she had an unquenchable urge to reach over and lovingly embrace the handsome young man who stood in front of her.
At that moment, she could feel nothing but love flow throughout her veins. She was so inlove that nothing else seemed to matter. A part of her knew how dangerous this was, but deep down she knew that it was all worth the risk. He was worth every risk, every chance, every uncertainty. He was worth everything!
Without thinking, she let go of his hand and wrapped her arms around his masculine body. Just as soon as her body came into contact with his, Adrien suddenly froze at the unexpected gesture while his eyes unknowingly grew wide in shock.
Right there, he was speechless, but that didn't matter for he was just so happy to have his princess right there with him. A moment of silence passed before the blond lovingly gave into her intoxicating embrace.
Timeless moments had gone by while the two still remained locked in each other's arms. The moment was perfect to say the least. It felt as if time no longer existed, and they were the only two people in the whole world.
With every passing second, their love for each other only seemed to increase. The lost boy who previously had no purpose in life was finally home.
In the arms of the girl he loved, he felt at home; he was found and he had a purpose. His torn past and broken family seemed so far gone by now, that it was nothing more than a forgotten nightmare. But thankfully, his wildest dreams had instantly morphed into a beautiful reality.
At times, he still found it hard to believe that everything wasn't just a wonderful, amazing dream, because it felt too good to be true. But every time he took a single glance, deep into Marinette's stunning Bluebell eyes, vivid memories of all the times they spent together came flooding into his mind, and he instantly knew that his dreams were in fact a reality.
He felt blessed beyond all comprehension, and he still struggled to understand why someone so perfect like Marinette would even think to give him a chance. His doubts were too many to even count, but a small part of him still believed in the absolutely wonderful reality called 'love'.
Before Marinette, he didn't know what love was. All he knew was pain and hurt, which couldn't even come close to the magnificent feeling he felt every time he was with her.
She had somehow managed to change him in a way he never imagined possible. And for that, he felt like he owed her everything.
Standing there, holding the talented designer in his protective arms, he subconsciously tightened his grip around her petite body. The extremely close proximity caused an eruption of indescribable emotions to rise up from within his vulnerable soul.
He felt content and was absolutely delighted to be spending that exact moment with the girl who had somehow managed to steal his heart.
After getting a little too carried away, Adrien suddenly felt his girlfriend's body shift underneath his own. Instantly, he knew what that meant.
Sadness momentarily filled his heart, but those unwanted feelings quickly vanished when he remembered why they were there.
Once they separated, the joyful teen gently squeezed the girl's arms, while giving her the sweetest smile she had ever seen.
"What was that for..?" he curiously asked.
Slightly flustered, Marinette broke eye contact, before reverting her gaze to the floor.
"I... I'm s... Sorry... I guess I just got a little carried away," a few giggles escaped from her mouth, "I just felt like giving you a hug. I think that's the least I could do, after everything you did for me..."
Adrien's heart instantaneously skipped a beat. Looking deep into those gorgeous, blue eyes, he couldn't help but blush, knowing that she really did love him.
"You don't have to apologize," his lips turned into a smile as he began to slightly brush his hand along Marinette's bicep. "I'm so greatful for your hugs! You have no idea how much I long to just pull you into a tight embrace and smother you with loving kisses. Every moment you're away, I feel so empty inside. I don't know how to even explain it, but it's like I'm addicted to you, because I can't stop thinking about you! I... Just- I l... Love you so much it hurts!" Adrien tried to smile through the tears that were beginning to blur his vision.
Marinette, patiently listening to his every word, could feel her own emotions begin to way her down. She had seen Adrien cry before, but this time it was because of a totally different reason. He was crying because of her!
Her brows came together as she gave him a very sympathetic look. Her heart was racing as she reached for his hand. She opened her mouth but closed it when he suddenly interrupted her.
"I'm sorry," he uncomfortably laughed, "it's just... With you, I feel like somebody. I feel like I can do anything. In the past, I was so mean to you, yet you still gave me a chance; despite everything I did... I... I'm so sorry, Marinette... I really don't deserve you..."
At that exact moment, Marinette glanced at her boyfriend with sympathy and love in her eyes. Adrien wasn't someone who would often say what was on his mind, but after hearing his most intimate, private thoughts, the bluenette had somehow managed to fall in love with him all over again.
"Aw Adri..." her soothing voice was soft as she began to wipe away his tears, "Where did that come from? That was in the past, and it doesn't even matter anymore! I love you more than you will ever know! You mean so much to me... And I hate to see you bring yourself down like that. I wish I could do something to show you just how special you are-"
Looking down at his beautiful princess, Adrien gave her a very small smile. The guilt was overpowering, and he wondered if he would ever be able to forgive himself for what he had done.
At the time, it didn't matter to him because Marinette was just some girl. She meant nothing to him, so in his twisted mindset, he thought that he could treat her however he pleased. But that was the old Adrien; the cold-hearted, insignificant boy who was hated by the world. Because nothing mattered to him, he never thought about the consequences. And he definitely didn't think that he would ever find himself falling head over heels in love with her.
He really hated himself for that, and he wished that there was some way to go back in time to fix his mistakes. But sadly he knew that he just couldn't...
Looking away for a moment, the disheartened young man attempted to correct his mistakes, "I-"
But before he could even mutter another word, a very soft pair of lips had somehow managed to find their way onto his. He didn't even have a chance to register what was happening, but deep down he felt a sense of euphoria begin to swell up from within.
Although his face was still drenched in tears, he no longer felt heartbroken. Something as simple as a sweet peck on the lips was enough to wash away all of his previous doubts and insecurities.
Despite the fact that the atmosphere was silent, the pianist could hear his heart pounding in his chest; he just hoped that she couldn't hear it.
The warmth from the kind baker girl's perfect lips was electrifyingly sensual. As the seconds began to tick by, Adrien couldn't hold back any longer.
As Marinette's lips began to move along his, he took the opportunity to mirror her movements. Gently cupping her bottom lip between his own, he subconsciously placed his hand behind her neck for support; in hopes to deepen the kiss.
The kiss wasn't too intense, but rather the opposite actually. It was soft and sweet; almost perfect in a way that seemed rather impossible.
The warmth, desire and love began to radiate with a sense of unfathomable intensity. They both had a mutual longing for each other, and together they both felt the passionate surge of fierce love and admiration, personified in the form of untamed electricity that penerated throughout their entire being.
As they both stood there, lost in each other's loving embrace, neither one wanted to let go. The moment was all they had, so the option of letting go, seemed too terrifying to even consider.
By now, the world seemed so far gone. An eternity of rich emotion expressed in the form of a pure kiss eventually faded away into oblivion, and they separated.
A moment of silence had passed before Adrien took a single glance into the pair of ocean blue eyes that were staring right back at him. Even though he struggled to understand his own emotions, he knew without a shadow of a doubt that he was feeling love.
He suddenly remembered why he was here. Already smiling, the blond tucked a single strained of hair behind Marinette's ear. Still staring deep into her longing eyes, Adrien gently brushed his hand along her jawline and down her neck.
The sensation instantly caused the vulnerable girl to experience a shockwave of electricity which trailed throughout her body. Although she was pretty nervous in that moment, she couldn't have been happier.
Her eyes began to flutter closed when his hand reached her collar bone. But she opened her eyes when she could no longer feel his warm touch.
When Marinette felt him pull away, she frowned. She instantly felt a little insecure, and wondered what was up with her boyfriend.
"... Is everything... Okay?" she tried to sound confident, but the uncertainty and defeat was evident in her hesitation.
Although he felt a little bad for disrupting their 'moment' so unexpectedly, he gave her a reassuring smile as he reached for her hand.
"I'm sorry..." he honestly admitted, "It's just... I have a surprise for you... And we need to go now if you ever want to see it."
Almost instantly, the unsure teen gave him a confused look. The possibilities were endless, and she couldn't help but wonder what it was.
Even though she had a million thoughts running through her mind, she glanced up at her sweet boyfriend as she attempted to smile.
"Okay. Where is this 'surprise'?"
Adrien gave her a wink after pointing towards the top of the Eiffel Tower, "Up there."
Marinette unknowingly frowned. She knew that everything was closed, but even if that wasn't the case, she knew that one would have to get special permission to be there at this time of night.
"... Uh..." the bluenette tried to speak, but couldn't seem to get the words out.
Seeing that she was beginning to have doubts, the male quickly gave her hand a squeeze while gently creasing his lips upon her cheek.
"Do you trust me?"
His unexpected question caused the conflicted teenager to meet Adrien's longing eyes. Without even a single hesitation, Marinette instantly nodded her head while her lips turned into a wide smile.
"Of course I trust you!"
Happy with her response, the blond pulled the bluenette towards his rock-hard chest. When she was close enough, he protectively wrapped his arm around her shoulders. And with that, the couple made their way towards Adrien's 'surprise destination'.
He still felt really nervous about everything, because he wasn't sure if Marinette would enjoy his surprise or not, but he needed to stay positive.
