* Chapter Twelve
Jin had been playing Mario Cart pretty much ever since Jungkook and Taehyung had left the building. Yoongi had played for an hour before giving up and leaving the game, saying he was getting tired and just wanted to relax for a bit. Of course Jin didn't believe him and kept saying 'uh huh. Are you sure it's not because I'm kicking your ass at this game?' every time Yoongi brought it up. Eventually, they just dropped it and moved on. So while Jin kept playing Mario Cart, Yoongi grabbed his laptop and went through his old music.
He hadn't written any songs in a while, not for a few weeks anyway. Since then, he'd gotten busy and distracted with everything happening in his life. Which was weird since no matter what happened in his life, he'd always find time to do music. So sitting here on the couch, watching Seokjin play Mario Cart with his other two noisy roommates were gone, it gave him time to write. And Yoongi had really missed composing music.
'Stop tapping your foot. Not only is it annoying, but it's also distracting and I'm about to break your foot.' Jin said, not looking at Yoongi. Yoongi looked up from his laptop, frowning. He hadn't even realised he'd been tapping his foot on his roommates leg. Grinning, Yoongi tapped his foot on Jin's thigh harder and Jin paused the game to smack his leg. Jin pushed Yoongi's legs off him and they fell onto the floor with a thud.
'Do you think the two of them are having fun?' Yoongi asked and Jin shrugged, turning his attention back to his game. Yoongi could see that Jin was in the lead and was about to lap the person in last place.
'Probably. I mean, it is Jungkook's dance. They probably are having fun. Didn't you?' Jin asked. Yoongi shook his head.
'I never went to my high school dances. I spent my final one at home talking to Hoseok. How do you keep forgetting that?' Yoongi asked and Jin rolled his eyes.
'I keep forgetting that you met Hoseok in your last year of high school. Holy shit you guys have been friends for five years.' For some reason, that was surprising to him and he didn't know why. Yoongi on the otherhand, didn't correct him. He'd actually been friends with Hoseok since he was in grade eleven around December. They'd been friends for a year when he'd mentioned it to Jin.
'Who did you take to yours? Wasn't it some girl from your chemistry class?' Yoongi asked, closing his laptop lid gently and peeling his headphones off his ears. He let them sit around his neck.
'Yeah it was. I think her name was Jisoo I can't remember now. Too long ago.' Jin mumbled.
'It was only six years ago what are you on about?' Yoongi teased and Jin pinched Yoongi's thigh.
'Exactly. Too many years ago.' Jin groaned when he bumped into a banana. The younger boy laughed and Jin cracked a tiny smile.
'Shut up. You're distracting me.'
Yoongi had to admit, it was weird watching his roommate play any type of videogame. The way his shoulders were hunched over, arms resting on his thighs. Eyebrows furrowed with his lip pulled between his teeth, a look of complete concentration on his face. The way he never took his eyes off the screen unless he absolutely had to. Jin's hands moved the controller and pressed the buttons to move, drive, and jump whatever. Yoongi didn't care. It was just fascinating watching the way Jin got when he was playing any game.
'Please stop staring at me. It's making me uncomfortable and throwing me off.' Jin let out a groan of frustration as he crashed, falling off the edge of the cliff again. He scratched his hair line as he waited to respawn again. When the little floating cloud (Yoongi had no idea what it was called and honestly didn't care) told Jin that he was allowed to go, Jin huffed. He'd ended up fourth. With a small blush, Yoongi tore his gaze away from Jin and back to the screen, watching the little mushroom guy drive in his tiny car. Yoongi enjoyed the time he was spending with Jin. It was nice just sitting here with Jin playing Mario Cart and Yoongi relaxing. He'd never admit to anyone but himself but he missed Jin.
When the front door slammed shut, Yoongi immediately jumped up, turning around, trying to see the front door. Unfortunately the lounge room had a shitty view to the front door so he couldn't see it properly. He could hear the soft voices of someone though. We've been broken into. Fuck we're going to die. Yet when his other roommates came into view, half dressed, Yoongi relaxed but was even more confused. He could no longer hear the upbeat music coming from the Wii either and looked down to see Jin following his gaze, the same look of confusion on his face.
Taehyung was whispering to Jungkook while holding onto him, arms wrapped around his shoulders. His sparkly jacket, along with Jungkook's, were clutched tightly in Jungkook's fist. Taehyung's eyes were trained on Yoongi and Jungkook kept his head down.
Yoongi hadn't expected them home tonight. He'd expected them to follow the traditional protocol of a school dance. He'd expected them to rent out a hotel and fuck, like every other student. He really thought they'd return tomorrow sometime, bitching about hangovers but still looking all smiley and lovey dovey at each other.
So the tense body language of Jungkook and the way it looked like Taehyung was trying to calm him down confused Yoongi. What happened?
'Go to bed, baby. I'll be there in a minute okay?' Taehyung whispered and Jungkook nodded, slowly walking towards his bedroom. The other three watched him leave. Something went down. Something fucking happened and it's broken my child. Clenching his fist, Yoongi narrowed his eyes at Taehyung who jogged over.
'You have five seconds to start explaining as to why Jungkook looks so shaken up before I punch your lights out.' Jin hissed and Taehyung didn't even react, just sat down on the couch and stared blankly at the paused Mario screen.
'Tae, what happened?' Yoongi asked softly, pinching Jin. The way he spoke to Tae was seriously not on. The older boy yelped and moved away, sitting next to Taehyung. Immediately, Tae leaned into Jin's touch, searching for comfort.
'I,' He took a deep breath before looking up at Yoongi. 'We were walking to the Hall with his friends when suddenly tears just start streaming down his face and he's clutching at me so tightly. I pulled him over because he wasn't really paying attention. Yoongi, he was having a panic attack. He was so fucking scared. I've never seen him that terrified.' Taehyung whispered and Yoongi was still confused. Jungkook had a panic attack?
'Why?'
'Something triggered the memory of his parents. You know the incident when they kicked him out?' Taehyung asked and Yoongi nodded. He'd heard of it but didn't have details. 'Yeah. Something flipped that switch and he kept mumbling about how he was afraid they'd reject him. How the kids at the dance would reject him because of me. Just like his fucking parents.' Tae spat the last sentence out with so much venom and he clenched his fists. Anger radiated off him and Yoongi could feel himself getting worked up too. How fucking dare they. How could they fucking hurt Jungkook like that? Yoongi had heard about the incident with Jungkook's parents two or so years ago when they first moved in and since then, he's had a deep seething rage under his skin, ready to burst at any given moment like a pimple.
'So I got him out of there as quickly as I could. I didn't want to make it worse so I just carried him to a park. Yoongi, I think he needs to see someone about this. I have never seen my boyfriend cry like that. Yoongi, I'm scared. I didn't realise this affected him so much. What do we do?' Taehyung's bottom lip trembled and Yoongi could tell he was about to cry.
'How about you go and cuddle him tonight. Smother him in love and cheer him up okay? We'll talk in the morning about this.' Yoongi responded and Taehyung nodded, getting up from the couch. Wrapping his arms around Yoongi, he hugged him tightly. Yoongi hugged him back with no hesitation. He wasn't really big on hugs but he could tell Taehyung was trying to keep himself together and that he needed a hug from someone that wasn't Jungkook right now. Taehyung pulled away and ran to his bedroom, small tears falling down his face. Yoongi's heart clenched painfully in his chest.
'Those poor kids.' Jin whispered and Yoongi didn't respond. Instead he sat down.
'I've never gotten full info about what happened with Jungkook and his parents all those years. All I know is that he hates them. Maybe we should look at getting him to see a therapist?' Yoongi asked and Jin nodded glumly.
'Yeah.' Yoongi let out a laugh but it held no mirth, just sounded lifeless and
empty.
'The last few days have been so fucking hectic. And emotional. Something good better happen,' Yoongi mumbled before standing again. 'I'm going to bed. I'm tired. Night, Jin.' He sort of half hugged Jin before padding to his room. Jin watched him leave before turning off the TV.

Breakfast Thursday morning was weird. That was the only way Yoongi could explain it. Wasn't awkward yet it wasn't the most comfortable tension he'd ever been in. The past few days had been the worst days off his life and he wasn't sure if it was getting better or worse right now.
Jin was on the phone, texting someone. He was leaning against the stove, feet crossed over one another and a sick part of Yoongi wanted to see him walk and fall over. He'd cooked all of them pancakes yet they hadn't been touched and sat on the table going cold. Taehyung was silent, chewing his fingernails, a habit he hadn't done since he was eleven. One arm was wrapped around Jungkook who was sitting on his lap, wrapped up in a blanket despite the sweltering heat. Tae would whisper things in Jungkook's ear and Jungkook wouldn't respond, just stared blankly at the patterned table cloth. Yoongi was sitting across from the lovebirds, eyeing them cautiously. He was trying to think of something to say. Anything to break the weird silence. Surprisingly though, it was Taehyung who broke it. He glanced up at Yoongi and squeezed his boyfriend's shoulder.
'I think it's time we spoke about the elephant in the room.' He said, a grin on his face and produced a tiny elephant figure from his pocket. He set it down on the table just as Yoongi let out a huge groan, his head dropping into his hands. Jin slammed his hand onto the counter.
'That was terrible. Worse than mine.' Jin spoke up, pocketing his phone and joining everyone at the table. Taehyung winked and squeezed Jungkook's shoulder. Yoongi watched Jungkook. Nothing.
'I'm sorry. I had to say something. I'm choking here.' Taehyung said defensively, shrugging. Yoongi smiled.
'Well, we do need to talk about the elephant. Not that one though.' He pointed at the little plastic figure. Taehyung's own smile faded into a worried grimace and Jungkook's eyes flickered to the elephant. The corners of his mouth twitched.
'Jungkook, baby, what do you want to do?' At the mention of his name, Jungkook shook his head.
'Do you want to go see someone about this?' Jin asked softly, rubbing the youngest one's arm. No reaction.
'Jungkook, please. We just want to help.' Taehyung pleaded, voice thick from the lump in his throat and his eyes were glassy. One look at Taehyung and Jungkook started crying. He rubbed his eyes and curled into Tae, hugging him. Tae immediately wrapped his arms around his boyfriend, hugging him close. Yoongi felt his own lump forming in his throat.
'I know. I'm so sorry for everything. I really do want to see someone.' He stuttered out and Yoongi could feel his own emotions rising up. He pinched the inside of his elbow to stop himself from crying. If he started crying right now he'd end up going to work with puffy eyes and a red face. Not a good look.
'Jin can you look into therapy for Jungkook?' He whispered to the eldest boy. Jin nodded. He planned to do it anyway. Seeing Jungkook like this, really stung. He wanted the happy Jungkook back. And Jin would do anything to see it.
'I'll do it once we've talked about it more.' He muttered back. Yoongi nodded.
'Well, I've got to get ready for work. Jungkook, there's no way I'm sending you to school. Don't look at me like that I don't care if you've got an important test today. There's no way in hell that you're up for it. Tae, you're to stay home and look after him.' Yoongi ordered. Taehyung nodded and whispered to Jungkook, who immediately got off his lap and walked to his bedroom. The other three just stared at each other, not really having the words to speak. They were stunned.
'Make sure he eats okay? Try to talk to him. But just be there for him. Please.' Jin pleaded. Taehyung rolled his eyes and crossed his arms as a brief look of anger flashed over his face.
'Of course, Jin. I'm not going to leave my boyfriend to deal with this shit alone. He needs me. How fucking stupid do you think I am?' He snapped.
'Okay tone it down.' Yoongi stepped in, sensing that a fight was about to break out. Both of them were glaring at each other, Taehyung with his arms now crossed over his chest and Jin's hands were in fists. No one said anything after that. Yoongi didn't want to make it worse and the other two were preoccupied with their staring competition.
'I'm going to go get ready for work.' Yoongi mumbled, breaking the awkward silence. Tae nodded. With one final scowl at Jin, he dashed off to his bedroom.
'I'll look into therapy today. I don't have classes or a shift.' Jin informed Yoongi and Yoongi gave him a thumbs up.
'Thank you. If you find anything text me the details okay?'
'Will do.' Jin mumbled and turned his phone on.

Yoongi was angry. He really needed to blow off steam. Not only had the past four or so days finally gotten to him and pissed him off, but he'd finally had enough of his work. Yoongi was about ready to burst.
He trudged his way to his hill, hands in fists. He was still dressed in his work uniform, too angry to drive home and change. If he did, he'd crash the car. He plopped himself down on the seat, yelping as the heat burned the back of his thighs. He jumped up, rubbing the back of his legs, wincing. Once the pain had faded, he sat down again, trying to get used to the heat. It's fucking four in the afternoon why is it so fucking hot? Despite the sun facing away from him, he had the full fucking heat of it burning his back.
For the first five minutes, he didn't do anything except try to calm down and stare out at city below him. He clenched his hands up and let out a strangled shout.
His shift at work was by far the shittiest shift he'd done in a while which was saying something. They were short on staff for some reason. Mina was sick. About half of them had cancelled for some reason and there was about seven people in the kitchen. Jonghyun was obviously livid at his lack of employees and was shouting at everyone if they did even one thing wrong. And it was just Yoongi's luck that they were extra busy the day ¾ of their staff were missing.
Yoongi would need both hands to count how many times he was shouted at. He was stressing over Jungkook and everything else that had happened and his mind really wasn't on the task at hand. He fucked an order up and the way Jonghyun had shouted at him, you'd think it was like Yoongi had killed his first born. He'd almost snapped back at his boss and almost walked out. Thankfully, the reasonable side of him that loved his shitty job, held him back. So by the time Yoongi had finished work, he was borderline seeing red due to how livid he was.
His phone vibrated in his pocket and he saw Jin's name flashing on his screen.
Jinnie: So I found a place where Jk can do therapy.
Yoongi: Are you really that lazy that you typed Jk???
Jinnie: Ur missing my point here, boi.
Yoongi: Who the fuck am I talking to this isn't Jin.
Jinnie: Back on track, Yoongi.
Yoongi: Right. Where??
Jinnie: centre of town
Yoongi: Wow that's a lot of help.
Jinnie: Tone down the fucking sarcasm, fucker.
Yoongi: How much will it cost??
Jinnie: It'll come under our private health care so probably not that much.
Yoongi: Cool. Did you book an appointment??
Jinnie: Yeah Fri @ 3.
Jinnie: Tae just informed me that they got the job. What fucking job???
Yoongi: There's a new ice-cream place in town. Run by a lovely guy ;) and they applied for spots.
Jinnie: I'm finding out about this now???????? Why????????
Yoongi: Shit happened.
Yoongi: Also what's with all the question marks. It's more annoying that Tae.
Jinnie: Leave me and my ?? alone.
Jinnie: I'll embarrass them on their first shift. It's like having children!!
Yoongi: Omg yes. Please. Take me with you
Jinnie: I'll find out more details
Jinnie: Where are you btw? Didn't your shift end ?
Yoongi: I'm clearing my head. Be home in an hour or so.
Jinnie: Be safe xx
Yoongi couldn't stop the small smile that appeared on his face. Jungkook was going to therapy. He was going to be okay. I can't believe it took us until now to realise that it'd been bothering him. Yoongi mentally kicked himself as guilt settled in.
How could they be so fucking blind as to not realise that Jungkook had been suffering? Why didn't they realise that he still was plagued by what his parents did to him years ago? Yoongi felt like he'd failed Jungkook. Yoongi had sworn to Jungkook that he'd look after him and protect him from everything. He'd made a promise that he'd make sure Jungkook was never distressed. Yet, he'd had to witness Jungkook crying uncontrollably twice in twenty-four hours. Hanging his head in his hands, Yoongi let out a huge groan and tried not to let the guilt swallow him up whole. I can't believe I've been so wrapped up in my own shitty troubles. That boy has gone through so much and I failed to protect him further.
His phone ringing woke him up from his misery. Hoseok's name flashing on his screen made the smile appear on his face. Heart hammering in his chest, he answered.
'What's up Hoe?' He asked and the sound of Hoseok laughing made his heart ache more.
'Hoe? Really? Why?' Came Hoseok's reply.
'Yes. Your name is pretty much Hoe. Ho-seok.' Yoongi stretched out Hoseok's name and the younger one on the other line couldn't stop laughing.
'Fair point. How are you?'
'If I'm being honest, completely shit.' Yoongi laughed but it was empty, his negative feelings returned. He didn't want to be feeling negative when the sunshine of his life was currently on the phone to him.
'Why?' Yoongi could just picture the concerned look on his best friend's face. The way his eyebrows would be furrowed together, mouth pouting.
'Lots of shit has happened at home. Plus work was a dick today.' Yoongi sighed and leaned back against the hot metal. He was chewing on his fingernails now.
'Rant to me.'
'Well, you know about Jin, right? How he left us for a few days. Well he came back yesterday and fuck. Everything's weird now. Also Tae got fired, I told you about that I'm pretty sure. But Jungkook's dance was last night and instead of having fun and being a teenager, he came home at ten crying and shaking.' Yoongi mumbled out. He felt heavy for some reason.
'Shit. Why?'
'Well,' Yoongi sighed, debating whether he should tell Hoseok the story. On one hand, it'd help him and give him some relief. On the other though, it wasn't his story to tell. May as well. 'Jungkook got kicked out of his home for dating Taehyung when he was fifteen. I'm not entirely sure about all the details but it must've been pretty bad for him to have a panic attack on the one night he should've been enjoying life.' Hoseok let out a whistle.
'I've never met Jungkook or his parents. But I really want to fucking kill his parents and hug the kid. No one fucking deserves this shit. God, what fucking assholes. I swear, if I ever see them, I'll shove my foot so far up their asses, they'll be tasting my toes for months. I feel so fucking sorry for that kid. Oh man. I want to hug him.' Hoseok ranted, his tone was angry and his voice had dropped an octave lower. Yoongi, despite the situation, found it hot.
'You're cute when you're angry.' He blurted. Slapping a hand over his mouth, Yoongi cursed himself. Oh fuck. He probably hates me now. Fuck. Hoseok probably knows about my crush on him. Yet, all Hoseok did was laugh.
'Now's not the time but thank you. I'm flattered. I'm actually blushing.' Hoseok mumbled, his mood doing a complete 180. Yoongi let out a sigh of relief. Hoseok doesn't hate me. Thank god.
'Uh, no problem.' Yoongi stuttered and Hoseok giggled. Yoongi's heart pounded in his chest, ready to burst. He's so cute oh my god help me. Yoongi was 100% sure that one day, Hoseok would give him a heart attack.
'You're so fucking cute oh my god.' He mumbled and Yoongi covered his flaming cheeks. He frowned when someone started shouting on Hoseok's side of the line. It wasn't audible enough for Yoongi to pick up what they were saying but they didn't sound happy.
'Look Yoongi, I've got to go. I'll talk later. Bye.' Hoseok mumbled, voice soft. He hung up, leaving Yoongi listening to the dial tone. What the fuck? He stared at his phone, confused. Why?
