* Chapter Sixteen
The first thing that popped into Yoongi's head when he stumbled into the kitchen at midday, too tired to function and the smallest headache prodding him was, our kitchen is too small. On a good day, the four roommates could barely fit. Now with Hoseok and Jimin awake and sitting at the table, looking like utter shit, Yoongi came to realise how small it actually was. Jimin glared at Yoongi. His eyes followed Yoongi as he padded over to the coffee machine and switched it on. Hoseok didn't lift his head up. He was too busy sleeping on the Winnie the Pooh placemat Yoongi had bought years ago. He couldn't stop the huge smile that crossed his face. He's so cute.
'If you fucking drop that cereal, Kim Taehyung, my boyfriend will be short of an employee.' Jin warned, waving the egg flipper at Taehyung who was rolling his eyes. He sat on the counter, eating a bowl of fruit loops while swinging his legs. The bowl was perched in the palm of his hand, resting cautiously. The other hand held the spoon. Even Yoongi was worried. He could just picture Taehyung moving the wrong way and the bowl tumbling to the floor with a clatter. Taehyung would be forced to clean the mess up so he wasn't that worried about it. He was more concerned about the bowl since it was one of the good ones.
At that moment Jungkook stumbled over, hand to his temples tightly. He so fucking hungover that he could barely think and pressed a sloppy kiss to his boyfriend's cheek. Taehyung hummed and let out a small giggle.
'Someone fucking get me aspirin. I'm never drinking again.' The youngest whined, clutching his head. Taehyung smiled sympathetically and fed him a spoonful of colourful rings. It seemed to help cheer Jungkook up the slightest bit.
The makeshift prom had ended at around midnight. Yugyeom and Chaeyoung (who thankfully hadn't had as much to drink as Yoongi thought) called Yugyeom's mum and went home on their own decision. When she'd arrived, Yoongi was a bit worried about the two graduates since they were still technically underage. He was worried about Yugyeom's mum snapping at them for getting her son and niece drunk. Thankfully, she nodded at Yoongi with a small smile before marching off with the kids. She didn't seem too mad at anyone but her tight-lipped smile at her children said otherwise. Yoongi hoped they weren't going to get in too much trouble.
Namjoon wasn't so willing to go home though. He'd wanted to stay with Jin. He kept arguing and clinging to his boyfriend. It didn't help the situation when Jin had encouraged Namjoon's behaviour with coos and kisses that made Yoongi want to throw up on them both. Eventually, Namjoon had called a taxi and Namjoon had agreed to go home after a bribery of kisses.
('Joon, next time you can stay over.'
'Fair enough. But still. I want to stay tonight.'
'Go home. I'll speak to you tomorrow, okay?')
And Taemin refused to go back to his apartment. Instead, he crashed on one of the couches in the lounge room with Jimin. Thankfully, for Jimin's sake, he kept away from the younger male and pretty much fell into a slumber the moment he fell face first onto the couch. Jimin, still sceptical about Taemin's behaviour, slept awkwardly on the other couch, curled up.
'So, who else feels like there's a little Jimin banging on their skull?' Taemin groaned as he stumbled into the kitchen, clutching his forehead. His eyes were screwed shut. Jimin reached over and smacked him, causing another round of pure agony to shoot through Taemin. He howled, clutching his hair tighter. Jin chuckled, shoulders shaking.
'How the fuck are you not hungover? You drank so much last night.' Yoongi commented.
'I didn't drink as much as you thought I did,' Jin answered, flipping more pancakes onto the plate. The smell had completely wafted through the house and Yoongi couldn't stop sniffing it. 'I had a few spread out over the hours. More concerned with Joon and making sure the rest of you children weren't going to die.' Utter bullshit. Jungkook scoffed. Jin narrowed his eyes but the youngest just smiled sweetly.
'And I never ever get hungover.' Taehyung put his two cents as well, his signature boxy grin on his face. Yoongi didn't miss Jimin threading his fingers through Hoseok's hair out of the corner of his eye, a smirk present on the younger's face. With a sigh, Yoongi pointed to the cupboard.
'Aspirin's in there if anyone needs it. I've got some good blackmail material by the way.' Yoongi smirked and everyone, who was awake, turned around to stare at Yoongi, comical expressions on their faces.
Jin was pointing his egg flipper at Yoongi threateningly, a pout on his face. Tae and Jungkook were frozen, mouths open. Tae's spoon of fruit loops was halfway to his mouth. Jimin was just straight up glaring and Yoongi found it fucking hilarious. Behind his hand, he stifled his giggle and disguised it like a cough, causing Jimin to scowl. If looks could kill.
'Delete it!' Jungkook and Jimin shouted at the same time.
'No. It was fucking funny. Besides, you don't even know what it is!' Yoongi defended himself and bickering broke out between all of them. Taemin whined, clutching his head.
'Can you guys please keep the volume down? I have a huge fucking hangover.' Taemin snapped which ended the conversation about last night. Standing up, he started bitching about inconsiderate people and slowly made his way to the bathroom. The slamming of the door vibrated through the house and another groan followed. Taehyung hid his giggle with a cough into his hand. Yoongi cracked a smile and even Jimin's lips curled. Oh so he's not a completely heartless, cold bastard after all.
'So, what's everyone doing today?' Jin asked cheerfully after a few moments of silence. He was met with nothing. No one answered him and Jin sighed.
'Well, I want to spend the day with Yoongi.' Hoseok spoke up, scaring Yoongi. Wide eyed with surprise, he glanced over to see Hoseok now awake, grinning madly at the older one. His eyebrow was raised in the slightest question. Being alone with him would give me the chance to ask him about what the fuck happened last night. The image of Hoseok dancing, the way his hips were moving were printed firmly in his mind and he couldn't unsee it.
'I was planning to take Jiminie to Taemin's studio for actual dancing but that's not gonna happen with how fucking hungover Taemin is.' Jungkook mumbled. Taehyung scratched his boyfriend's head reassuringly and whispered something. Immediately, Jungkook grinned.
'Well, I'm going over to Joon's to make sure my boyfriend didn't die from alcohol poisoning.' Jin mumbled and turned off the stove. He piled the rest of pancakes onto the plate before setting them on the table. He quickly grabbed a handful of forks, not bothering to actually count them and set them in the centre.
'We need a bigger table.' Both Yoongi and Jin said it at the exact same time. The older one turned to Yoongi with a smirk and held out his hand. Grudgingly, Yoongi handed him the money from the table.
'What the fuck?' Jimin asked, eyebrow raised. Jin dashed off down the hallway to grab a folded up chair for him, setting it up between Jimin and Hoseok. Jimin smiled while Hoseok grumbled under his breath about something.
'Roommate shit. It's something we do. If anyone of us say the same thing at the exact same time as someone else, they owe money. It's usually the youngest that pays up so Jungkook never wins.' Yoongi explained and Jungkook pegged a piece of cereal at the older one. Yoongi ducked and it landed on the floor with a small plop.
'Alright now dig in. I didn't cook all this food for you shits to let it go to waste.' Jin demanded. A silence fell over them and the only thing that could be heard was the scarping of cutlery on the plate. Yoongi didn't really eat. He just studied Hoseok.
He looked cute when he was sleepy. His face was the slightest bit puffy with a natural glow from his oily skin. Tufts of hair stuck up all over the place, messy and curly in some places. He reminded Yoongi of a small child. With every bite of the pancake he had, two dimples appeared on his face and it was the most endearing thing. Yoongi had the insane urge to stick his finger in one.
'Hey Seokseok, wanna go to the beach today?' Yoongi asked when everyone had finished. Hoseok glanced up and nodded. He didn't miss the way Jimin tensed up and shot Yoongi a poisonous look. Fucking relax Jimin. I'm not gonna try anything on your boyfriend. He wondered if Jimin was jealous of them or if he hated the nickname.
'Okay sweet.'
'Hey Jiminie. If you aren't too hungover, wanna come down to the studio with us?' Taehyung asked Jimin, wiggling his eyebrows. Hesitantly, Jimin nodded, not taking his eyes off Hoseok. The two of them seemed to be having a conversation with each other. Eventually, Hoseok nodded.
'Okay. Sure.' Jimin mumbled, poking at his pancake. Jungkook smiled.
'You're gonna love it!' Taehyung shouted. Jungkook whined before clutching his head again. Jimin and Hoseok winced as well.
Once breakfast was over, Jungkook and Taehyung dragged Jimin down to their room, talking about dance terms and shit. Hoseok had such a fond smile on his face as he watched a confused expression overtake Jimin.
'So, we're going to the beach?' Yoongi asked, trying to take Hoseok's attention away from Jimin. Call him jealous but he really didn't like Jimin.
'Uh yes. One problem. I don't have swimming trunks.' Hoseok mumbled sheepishly, feeling embarrassed. A blush crept up his neck. Oh my god he's so cute.
'I have some you can borrow.' Jin spoke up, quickly running to grab a pair of old swimming shorts. He came back and handed them over to Hoseok.
'Thanks Jin.' Hoseok winked before dashing to the bathroom to change. Yoongi stood up and followed.
'How the fuck do you forget to bring swimming trunks? You're a fucking moron.' Yoongi shouted, fingertips pressed to his forehead.
'I'm fucking stupid! We all knew this!' Hoseok had shouted back and Yoongi giggled. He'd fucking giggled. Hoseok was gonna kill him by the end.
'You're going on a holiday. Who forgets about packing clothes to swim in? Especially while it's thirty degrees outside.'
'Shut up and stop bullying me, cuntwaffle.' Hoseok retorted in between fits of laughter. Even Yoongi snorted. Cuntwaffle. That's so funny.
'Well hurry the fuck up!' At that moment, the bathroom door swung open and Hoseok emerged again. He wore Jin's shorts and a pair of thongs on his feet. A hat was perched on his head and his hair was pushed back, revealing his forehead. His arms were bare due to the singlet he had decided to wear and Yoongi could see his collarbones. Immediately, Yoongi felt his heart fall out of his ass. Trying to disguise his hitched breath a cough, he averted his eyes back up to Hoseok face. Bad mistake. Hoseok was staring at Yoongi, eyebrow raised and a small, questioning smirk on his lips. A blush crept up Yoongi's neck and he rubbed the back of it, trying to calm down. I don't know whether to throttle you and kiss the fuck out of you.
'Okay let's go!' It was nearing one in the afternoon when Hoseok and Yoongi started to head for the beach. Since the apartment wasn't that far, they just decided to walk.
Yoongi had a bag slung over his shoulder filled with water bottles, fruit, two towels and sunscreen just in case. Well, for his sake. Whenever he came into contact with the sun, he seemed to just burn and turn into a lobster. He never tanned. Of course, he wouldn't let Hoseok use the sunscreen. He loved Hoseok's sun-kissed, tanned skin too much to let it fade.
They both walked in silence, just enjoying each other's company. Besides, Yoongi was sure that if he opened his mouth, he bring up the incident from last night. He was 100% sure his heart wasn't prepared for that conversation.
The sun was beating their back, making Yoongi's pale skin tinged pink and hot to touch. If I fucking burn, I will murder someone.
Yoongi: Jin...
Jinnie: Why the e erlovin g fyvk are you tecting mr rn?
Yoongi: What's with the spelling mistakes?? I didn't catch any of that.
Jinnie: Don't ask.
Jinnie: Why the fuck are you texting me rn. Shouldn't you be talking to Hoseokie?
Yoongi scowled. He didn't want anyone else calling Hoseok that. It was his special nickname.
Yoongi: Call him that again and I will cut your dick off.
Jinnie: Oooh someone's jelous ;)
Yoongi: Sleep with one eye open, fucker. I hope Namjoon likes you enough.
Yoongi: I'm scared to talk to him?
Jinnie: You fucking what?
Yoongi: I'll tell you later. He's looking at me.
Jinnie: Don't leave me hanging, dipfucker.
Sure enough, Hoseok was staring at Yoongi, a small frown on his face. Yoongi groaned internally and cursed himself. I'm fucking stupid. I have Hoseok standing right beside me, in the flesh with so much skin on display and I'm talking to my dipshit of a roommate. I'm a fucking idiot.
'Am I that boring?' Hoseok asked quietly. His gaze was now staring at his feet. They'd come to a stop down the end of the street. Hoseok's hands were wrapped loosely around his waist. Yoongi felt his heart tug at Hoseok's tone. He sounded so miserable and self-conscious.
'No! You aren't. Why would you think that?' Yoongi placed his hand on Hoseok's shoulder. His skin was warm to touch and it heated Yoongi's palm. The contrast between their skins was such an odd thing.
Hoseok opened his mouth a few times before sighing out, 'it's nothing. I'm just paranoid. Don't worry. I didn't mean to ruin this.' He babbled out quickly before walking again, arms falling back to his sides limply. Yoongi's hand slipped off his shoulder and came to grip tightly around the younger male's wrist.
'Seokseok, you are far from annoying.' He reassured. Hoseok just stared at Yoongi's hand with a weird yet closed off expression before he shook his head. 'I'm sorry. I just had to sort some shit out with my roommate. I swear, I'm loving your company.'
'Okay. Now, let's just go to the beach, okay?' Hoseok wanted to drop the subject. His voice held a tinge of desperation and Yoongi sighed. This isn't over, Seokseok. For some reason, he had a feeling this had something to do with Jimin.
They continued walking in silence. The back of Yoongi's hand brushed against Hoseok's fingers and the urge to tangle them together was so strong, it took every part of him to refuse. Glancing down, he wondered what Hoseok fingers would feel like against his.
Thankfully, the pathway that led down to the beach came into view and without a moment of hesitation, Hoseok took off running. Yoongi couldn't stop the gummy smile that pulled at his lips and he followed, running at full speed.
By the time Yoongi had finally caught up to Hoseok (in Yoongi's defence, Hoseok had a head start), he was almost on the flat, sandy part of the beach. With a shout, Yoongi jumped on him and Hoseok staggered, hands automatically coming to hold Yoongi's bony ankles. He stumbled, trying to regain even footing.
'I almost fell over, asshole.' Hoseok mumbled as he came to a stop, panting. Yoongi laughed and rested his chin on Hoseok's head, sniffing him subtly. His arms were draped loosely around Hoseok's neck, fingers tangled in the straps of his singlet.
'You smell nice.' He mumbled under his breath. Unfortunately, he'd forgotten his mouth was right near Hoseok's ear.
'What the fuck? Why are you sniffing me, Yoongi?' Thankfully, Hoseok didn't sound mad more like he was struggling to keep his giggles in. I could die a happy person right now.
'I have no shame. Of course I'm gonna sniff you, Seokseok. I've spent the last four years wondering about you.' Yoongi announces and Hoseok starts walking, feet sloshing the salty water.
'Because that's not creepy at all.' Hoseok mumbles and the older male pinches his shoulder, earning a yelp. Yoongi's cheeks had started to sting from how much he was grinning.
'I still can't believe you're here.' He whispered. Hoseok just hummed and set Yoongi down. He kept walking, slower this time. Yoongi kept up pace, his hand on Hoseok's wrist lightly. Both of them walked in the shallow part of the water, the sea slushing up against their ankles. Hissing, Yoongi glanced down at his own feet as a stinging pain erupted. There must be a small cut or something. He hopped on one foot, shaking the other. The younger male smiled, eyes crinkling at the corner. Seokseok's got a heart shaped smile.
'It's so weird. You're right in front of me and not on my screen.' Hoseok commented after a while. Yoongi couldn't help but hum. It was weird having the person he'd been talking to through Skype and message right beside him.
If Yoongi wanted to, he could run his fingers through the younger male's hair if he wanted to. Of course he'd risk getting teased but it would be worth it. The
thought of hugging Hoseok whenever he wanted to, gave him a sense of warmth that began in his chest, spreading out to the tips of his fingers. Yoongi tilted his head up and stared. Hoseok was really breathtaking. The sun casted a shadow over his pretty face, sharpening his jawline. He wasn't sure how long he was staring but the younger male turned to look at the shorter one, confused.
'Why are you staring at me?' He asked, frowning.
'You're just pretty.' Yoongi mumbled, looking straight ahead again. His cheeks were painted a pink and he felt warm from embarrassment this time.
'Oh. Thank you, Yoongi.' As if to save him from the humiliation, his phone buzzed.
Jinnie: So, Taemin's over his hangover. We're all coming to the beach in twenty minutes bc well, Jimin's looking kinda funny.
Yoongi: Can you stall?
Jinnie: I've tried, Yoongi. I really have. Jimin just wants to go and see Hoseok again. I
think he's jealous lmao.
Fantastic. I can't even spend time alone with Seokseok because Jimin can't handle himself.
'You okay? You've got a sour look on your face and well, it's intimidating. For someone so small in size, you're terrifying.' Hoseok teased and Yoongi stopped walking, hands on his hips.
'Do you ever get tired of bullying short people?' He asked, Hoseok shook his head.
'Nope. It's fun. I didn't expect you to be so short.' Now Hoseok was standing in front of the older male, a small smirk on his lips. I want to smack you and kiss you.
'I'm gonna smack you.' Yoongi warned and Hoseok, the little shit he is, ruffled Yoongi's hair, laughing.
'Can you even reach?' And Yoongi pushed him. Hoseok lost his footing in the mushy sand and fell backwards onto his ass, landing in the water.
'You're so lucky I don't have my phone on me, shitstain.' Now it was Yoongi's turn to piss himself laughing.
'If you even think about pulling me in I'll kill you.' Yoongi hissed between laughs. Hoseok shifted so he was sitting on his knees, water up to his waist now.
Place the bag on the sand and come join me.' And Yoongi's heart stopped right then and there. Hoseok was looking up at the older male through his eyelashes, lip pulled between his teeth. And Yoongi knew his words held nothing but with they way he was staring at Yoongi, he couldn't help but take it that way.
'Uh, okay.' Yoongi stuttered quietly, marching to the sand and placing his bag down. It was still in eyesight but not at risk of getting wet. The moment he was in reach, Hoseok pulled on his ankle, sending him tumbling into the water with a splash. Saltwater managed to find its way into his mouth and he spluttered, tongue hanging out as he tried not to gag. Hoseok laughed and pushed him until he was flat on his back. Yoongi shrieked. The water was fucking cold and he shivered.
'Get off me.' He shouted, weakly pushing against Hoseok's shoulders. He struggled to keep his head above the water and by now, his shirt was now completely wet.
'Why?' Hoseok whispered, arms coming to rest right near Yoongi's heart. Feeling like he was about to have a heart attack, Yoongi let his eyes travel over Hoseok's body.
The water had turned his shirt completely see-through, making it easier for Yoongi to see the faint muscle definition on his chest. He could see the outline of Hoseok's abs and Yoongi swore he was about to die then and there. I honestly would have no regrets. Finally dragging his eyes back up to Hoseok's face, he grinned.
'I want to punch you right now.' He mumbled, hands resting on the younger male's shoulders gently. Seokseok, you have no idea how easy it would to just kiss you right now. And Yoongi's eyes darted down to Hoseok's lips before meeting his gaze again. With a raised eyebrow, Hoseok leaned forward just the slightest bit. Yoongi's heart sped up in his chest and he swore it could be heard by his deaf neighbour.
Yet the faint distant yelling of Jungkook snapped him out of his spell and he grudgingly looked over, water sloshing into his ear. The small dots of his friends (and Jimin) could be seen on the hill and Yoongi had the sudden urge to murder all of them. Before he could say anything, Hoseok had climbed off the older male and was running towards the group, pausing briefly to grab the bag they'd taken with them. He was shouting at the group and Yoongi couldn't make anything out. The water's damaged my hearing. Everything was muffled and resentment boiled in him. For once, he wished his friends would fuck off. I fucking hate all of you. Blinking slowly, Yoongi tried to shake off his hazy state as the group came closer. Struggling, he forced himself into a seating position and a grin fell across his face. Wait, was Hoseok about to kiss me?
Jin jogged his way over and crouched beside Yoongi, grinning. Yoongi nodded his head in greeting but didn't say anything.
'I'm sorry I couldn't keep Jimin away.' Jin apologised and he honestly felt guilty. He knew how much Hoseok meant to Yoongi and how long he'd been waiting for this moment.
'It's fine,' Yoongi kept his eyes on Jimin. He doesn't even seem to be paying attention to Hoseok. He's fucking talking to Taemin. 'But he's not even paying attention to his boyfriend. He's too busy chatting up Taemin, fucking fifteen feet away from Seokseok.'
'He kept bitching about how you're gonna try something with Hoseok. And honestly I thought for a split second you were,' Yoongi's eyes widened at the older's words, a biting remark on the tip of his tongue. Yet, Jin stuck his hand up and continued, 'but I know you. You'd never try shit with someone who's taken. So I trust you. Although, the position you and Hoseok were in when we arrived was a bit weird.' He raised an eyebrow.
'Hoseok started that. He pulled me into the water and pushed me. Then he fucking straddled me.' The younger male muttered, playing with the sand. 'I thought he was going to kiss me.' I'm so fucking stupid. He felt so fucking ashamed for having that hope in him. Of course Hoseok wouldn't kiss me. He's got Jimin.
'Jimin's eyes fucking bulged out of his head. You should've seen it!' Jin started laughing which picked up Yoongi's mood just the tiniest bit.
'I wish i could've.' Yoongi smiled. Taehyung had started to run over to the two sitting in the water. By the time he reached them, he was out of breath.
'Joon's got beer.' He panted, hunched over with his hands on his knees.
'Is that really such a good idea? After we all just got wasted last night?' Jin, like the responsible adult he was, tried to reason with Taehyung. He knew from experience that getting drunk the same day you were hungover was not a good idea.
'Yeah but, who cares!' Tae shouted, waving his arms in the air.
'Jungkook's got therapy tomorrow.' Jin commented.
'Maybe it's not such a bad idea,' Yoongi spoke up. He lowered his voice so only Jin could hear him. 'Besides, I think I need to have a drink. Jimin's getting on my nerves.' With a sigh, Jin nodded and stood up.
'Please, for the love of god, be responsible and think about your health.' Jin mumbled, defeated. There was no way he was going to win against Taehyung. The youngest male cheered and turned around, running back to the group.
'If I get drunk and accidentally kiss, Seokseok, don't hold me accountable.' Yoongi warned, making the oldest laugh. He helped Yoongi up. The younger male shivered. The water had been warm and now he was standing in cold winds. Goosebumps broke out on his skin, the hairs on the back of his neck standing up.
' Deal. Now let's go.' Both of them started running (or what could be classified as running in sand) towards the group. Hoseok immediately locked eyes with Yoongi when they were in sight, a small smirk on his lips as he raised his beer to his lips. Yoongi smirked in response. You're an asshole. Making sure he never lost eye contact with Hoseok, he grabbed his own beer.
