* Chapter Seven
'Get up now. I'll kick your ass, Yoongi.' Jin shouted, ripping the covers off Yoongi's body and whacking the younger male in the head with a pillow. Immediately, Yoongi groaned and cowered, covering his eyes and turning away. He'll give me brain damage one day. He kept his eyes screwed shut and he could hear the soft pat of Jin's feet around the room. As curious as he was to see what the fuck Jin was doing, he didn't move or react. It wasn't until he heard the clicking of the switch and the flashing of light behind his eyelids that he reacted.
'Could you be any more annoying?' Yoongi complained. He removed his own pillow from behind his head and threw it in Jin's direction. By the thud, he guesses he missed and it just landed on the floor.
'We have a fair tonight, dumbass. Get up,' He could hear more footsteps. 'Are you even packed?' Jin shouted and Yoongi snuggled further into the bed, turning on his side and closing his eyes. He groped the floor, looking for the blanket. He frowned when he couldn't find it. Eventually, he felt the soft duvet and he yanked the heavy thing back onto his bed, pulling it over his head. If Yoongi was a decent human being and had a heart, he'd probably sympathise with Jin and get up but since it was so early in the morning, he was going to be a stubborn little bitch and not move. Just because we have a fair, Kim Seokjin, does not give you the right to wake me up this early.
'Fuck off, Seokjin.' Yoongi's words were muffled by the blanket and Jin sighed, pinching the bridge of his nose. He shut his eyes, counting to ten to calm down. There's got to be a way to wake him up.
'You need to get the fuck up, Yoongi. I'm going to kick your ass! I want to be out of this house by seven.' Jin mumbled and Yoongi reached out under the blanket, feeling around for his phone. He hissed at the bright light and his eyes widened when he saw the time. 06:05 Am. Are you fucking kidding me? Oh, fuck Jin.
'Fuck you it's six in the morning!' He yelled and sat up, the blankets falling off. His eyes were still heavy with sleep and he squinted, trying to get used to the light. Jin smirked, even if it wasn't his technique, Yoongi was sitting up.
'Yay he's up,' Jin said sarcastically. He stood at the end of Yoongi's bed, dressed in actual clothes with his arms crossed over his chest. 'Now get the fuck up properly before I tip this glass of water on you.' That's when Yoongi noticed the water bottle hanging from Jin's fingers.
'Fuck you.' Yoongi said, venom in his tone. He felt slightly more awake, though, thanks to sitting up. He closed his eyes again, rocking in his spot a little.
Jin loved the sight he was currently looking at. Sleepy Yoongi with hair sticking up all over the place. His eyes shut and heavy with sleep, mouth turned into a small scowl. Whether Yoongi was frowning due to the taste in his mouth or the fact that he was awake at six in the morning wasn't clear to Jin but it was funny. The fact that Yoongi didn't have a shirt on made Jin's breathing hitch a little every time he let his eyes roam over Yoongi's bare chest and shoulders. It was a sight he saw many mornings but still couldn't get over.
'Get up. Now.' Jin said and Yoongi finally stood, stretching. His back cracked a little and he yawned.
'Get me coffee and I'll get ready.' Yoongi ordered and Jin rolled his eyes but left the room anyway, going to get the Prince a cup of coffee, mumbling under his breath.
Once Jin had left, Yoongi sat on the edge of his bed and grabbed his phone, slightly more alert. He saw that he had a text from Hobi.
Hope: Wait you're serious?
Slightly confused, Yoongi read back through the rest of his messages before it clicked and everything happened last night.
How he and Jin had a mini fight, how Taehyung came into the room and spilt Jin's secret behind his back, telling Yoongi with wide eyes and a worried expression that Jin had liked him for a while. How, after Taehyung had left, Yoongi borderline panicked and told everything to Hoseok with quick breathing. Just as Yoongi had started to calm down, Jin had knocked on the door and sent Yoongi into a frenzy again. He'd quickly attempted to make it look like he was asleep and in bed and he wasn't sure how long it had taken him to actually fall asleep.
Jin has a crush on me. He ran his fingers through his hair and closed his eyes, breathing heavily and trying to calm down. He did not want to have another panic attack before Jin returned.
Yoongi: I don't know what to do. I have to spend a few hours in the car with him. Fuck Taehyung and his motor mouth.
Hoseok didn't reply and Yoongi was sure the boy was still asleep since it was fucking six in the morning. Shit, I have a road trip in a few minutes. I'm not packed. Almost screaming at himself, and his stupid procrastination, Yoongi leapt up and ran to the closet, almost tripping over the blanket hanging off the bed and his own feet.
Opening the doors, Yoongi's stomach jumped at the sight of all Jin's shirts hanging neatly on his side of the closet. The small smell of Jin wafted through his nose and he did everything in his power to just ignore the scent. Instead, he focused on grabbing two shirts and a pair of clean jeans, throwing them onto the bed.
Yoongi quickly pulled on the jeans and almost got caught in putting one of the shirts on, accidentally shoving his head through the arm holes.
'The fuck are you doing, Yoongi?' Jin's voice made the younger boy jump a little and he turned to face the door. Through the material trapped over his eyes, he could make out Jin's outline and the smell of vanilla coffee wafted up to his nose.
'Help me.' He mumbled and Jin just laughed. He leant down, setting the cups on the carpet before stepping over to Yoongi and pulling the shirt off and handing it to the blue haired male.
'Coffee is ready when you are.' Jin whispered and gulped, turning away from Yoongi. Yoongi just rolled his eyes and pulled his shirt on properly, trying his hardest to ignore the way Jin's Adam apple bobbed in his throat.
***
Much to Jin's displeasure, both boys were packed and ready for their trip by 07:30 am. It was mainly Yoongi's fault as he was too busy fussing over the apartment and how he wasn't leaving until Taemin showed up. He kept mumbling that even though the gremlins were asleep, they'd find a way to mess up the apartment. Which made no sense to Jin but he was probably right.
So both boys sat at the table, Yoongi holding his empty coffee cup, bag at his feet. Jin fiddling with his glasses. A tense and weird silence had fallen over them and it set Jin on edge, a little uneasy. For the first time since they've been friends, the atmosphere between them was awkward and Jin couldn't pinpoint why.
Yoongi, on the other hand, was waiting for someone to either text him, giving him something to do and for Taemin to show up and save him from the hell. He wanted to say something to Jin but couldn't get the words out at all. He'd opened his mouth a few times but nothing came out. He just ended up looking like a fish out of the water.
At the sight of his reflection on his phone screen, Yoongi's nose crinkled in disgust at his hair. His natural roots had started to grow right through the mint colour. The dye was starting to fade and it looked ugly. When I get back I have to touch it up.
'Taemin said he'll be here in five,' Jin announced and Yoongi nodded, turning his phone on and off repeatedly. 'Yoongi are you okay?' Yoongi's answer was a shrug.
'Just Hoseok.' Yoongi mumbled and there was a bang on the door. Immediately, he jumped up, pleased that someone was saving them from their tense silence. Yoongi pulled open the door and Taemin stood on the other side, a coffee in hand and a grumpy look on his face. He smiled slightly at Yoongi before pushing into the room, rounding on Jin.
'Just because I fucking said I'd watch your damn apartment, did not mean I'd be here at ungodly hours, Kim Seokjin.' Taemin hissed, clutching the cup in his hand tightly. Yoongi couldn't stop the little smirk on his face. Jin looked up at Taemin with a frown.
'You live just down the hall what are you bitching about?' Jin asked, puzzled and Taemin rolled his eyes.
'So? The rest of us need to sleep.' Taemin snapped and footsteps could be heard coming down the hall. The three in the kitchen and saw a sleepy Jungkook stumbling with Taehyung holding his arm. Taehyung still had his eyes closed and was using his boyfriend as a guide to get through the house.
'You're not going to say goodbye?' Taehyung yawned and Yoongi couldn't help but awe at the sight. Both kids looked like little puppies with their sleepy eyes and messy hair and loose clothes. They looked tiny. The sight of Taehyung brought back the memories of what the younger boy had said and he glanced over at Jin, who was staring at the younger two with a raised eyebrow.
'Sorry, Taehyung. But we're only going to be gone for a day.' Yoongi says and Taemin just sips loudly on his coffee. Yoongi stifled a giggle at the sight of Taemin in the corner of his eye. Eyebrow raised a little, arms crossed with his drink to his mouth and a pure look of judgment on his face. He's a fucking diva.
'Still...' Jungkook complained and Yoongi knew that this was all an act. Really, the two little gremlins were begging for the house to themselves. God knows how much noise they'd make. Yoongi suddenly felt sorry for Taemin.
'Oh quit the act, Jeon, Tae. We already know that you're bursting for us to get out of this house so you can fuck without keeping quiet. Don't forget that Taemin is housesitting so have a little bit of consideration.' Jin said, standing and grabbing his back. Taehyung blushed and hid in Jungkook's shoulders. Jungkook just shrugged and grabbed onto Taehyung's hands.
'Alright, you caught us. We really just want you to hurry up and leave so we can have loud sex without worrying about you hearing us.' Jeon said a straight face and Taemin's mouth dropped open. Yoongi couldn't stop the smirk on his face and whatever sympathy he had for Taemin disappeared. He's had to put up with the noises for nearly three years. Taemin can handle it for a day. So I was right. I want to feel sorry for him but, seeing as though I listen to it all the time, I can't.
'You are not leaving me here with these two!' Taemin shouted as Jin grabbed the rest of his stuff and headed to the door. Yoongi followed and giggled at the bewildered look on Taemin's face.
'I'm sorry Taemin. I'll make it up to you. I promise.' Jin sighed, glaring at the two children who were giggling with smirks on their faces. A frown fell across Taemin's face and he must've accepted his fate because he turned the gremlins and sighed.
'Okay fair enough. Enjoy your trip.' He mumbled. Jin waved before walking out the door. Yoongi hesitated then grabbed their house sitter's hand, pulling him closer.
'If they start having sex and being loud, pour water on them. Don't worry you won't see anything. It's either dark or they're under the blanket. But yeah, water will work.' Yoongi whispered and Jin shouted for Yoongi to hurry up.
'Okay thank you.'
'Bye, you fucking gremlins. Don't make the job too hard for Taemin.' Yoongi shouted and left, trying to catch up to his friend.
***
They'd been on the road for nearly an hour and neither one of them had said a word to each other.
Yoongi didn't want to speak to Jin, afraid he'd blurt out what Tae had told him. So instead, he stuck his headphones in and looked out the window, ignoring the older boy.
Jin, on the other hand, had attempted to talk to the younger male. He'd attempted to talk to Yoongi, start a conversation. Unfortunately, though, Yoongi would either grunt out an answer or answer so short that it didn't leave any room for more conversation.
And it hurt. He'd obviously done something to upset Yoongi and he wasn't sure why or what. The more (or maybe less) logical side of him kept whispering that maybe Yoongi was just grumpy because he'd been woken from his sleep so early in the morning. Jin knew Yoongi wasn't a morning person. Hell, he wasn't even a person until he'd had coffee. Yet the way he was acting with Two Taes and Jeon told him otherwise. He'd upset Yoongi. How, though.
Yoongi's phone pinged and he immediately grabbed it, hiding it away from Jin. Hoseok's name was lit up on his screen and a gummy smile appeared on his face.
Hope: Don't say or do anything.
Yoongi: No shit. I can't anyway.
Yoongi: It is hard though since he keeps trying to talk to me. I hate ignoring him, Hope.
Hope: I know. But you can't let it slip that you know. It'll ruin your weekend and that can't happen.
Hope: Are you on the road?
Yoongi: Have been for a while lmao.
Hope: Keep me posted.
Yoongi just sighed and leant his head against the window. The small vibrations were annoying and were giving him a minor itch that he couldn't scratch somewhere deep in his mind but it comforted him.
He really did feel guilty for ignoring Jin. His best friend was sitting right beside him and usually, on a day when Yoongi had no clue that Jin was in love with him, they'd be acting up and being complete and utter idiots. And it wasn't like he didn't want to talk to Jin. He really did. Yoongi was just afraid of what he'd say.
'Why are you so grumpy?' Jin asked quietly, his eyes didn't leave the road but his hands gripped the steering wheel tighter. Yoongi finally decided to answer after a long pause, taking his earphone out.
'No idea.' He mumbled and Jin sucked in a breath before slamming his hands on the steering wheel and yanked on the wheel, driving it onto the side of the road. He parked the car and he turned to Yoongi, his hands in fists. Yoongi was terrified and he was never scared of his friend.
Jin wasn't the type to get angry with anyone, it just wasn't in his DNA. Sure, he gets annoyed with certain things and people but Yoongi had only ever seen Jin angry and that was when Taehyung broke the collectable Mario figure Jin had been saving up for months for. The atmosphere in the apartment was utter hell. Jin had shouted at Tae for about five minutes when he found out. He'd then sighed and headed to his room. Immediately, Taehyung had rushed after him, apologies pouring from his mouth. He had expected Jin to be angry and to shout at him more. Instead, Jin just smiled and said it was fine. Tae had breathed a sigh of relief and left, thinking that was the end of it.
Yet, for three days straight, Jin ignored Taehyung and snapped at everyone else. Pure fury radiated off him and Yoongi had hated the sight and tension. It wasn't until Taehyung broke down crying, apologising so much that everyone was sick of it, that Jin accepted and forgave Taehyung.
'Can we please just drop this, Jin? I don't want to spend our weekend arguing over my mood swings.' Yoongi mumbled, turning away from Jin with a sigh. The boy in the driver's seat just sighed.
'No. We will not leave until you tell me what's wrong.' Jin said and it was Yoongi's turn to sigh.
'Okay fine. I'm tired and I'm still a little pissed at you since you went behind my back.' Yoongi admitted and Jin shook his head.
'Okay. I'm sorry for that. I really am. Can we please move past it? I wanted a weekend away with you Yoongi and I didn't know how.' Jin rushed out.
'Okay fine, whatever. You're forgiven.' Yoongi mumbled/
'Are you sure nothing else is bothering you?' Jin asked and Yoongi nodded, not trusting himself to speak. I'm annoyed. Taehyung dobbed you in, Jin and I don't know what to do or say. I want to speak to you about it but I can't find the words to say without getting Tae in trouble again. The worst thing Yoongi could do right now would be to get Taehyung in trouble with Jin. He didn't deserve that. Not when he was just looking out for Jin.
As if Tae knew he was being spoken about, Yoongi's phone buzzed with Tae's signature tone.
Taebaby: Please be nice to Jin when (or if) he does confess properly, okay?
Yoongi turned away from Jin.
'Yes, Jin.' Yoongi mumbled.
'There's nothing else bothering you?' Jin asked again, wanting to be sure that Yoongi was okay. He hated seeing his friends upset or annoyed or like the world was on their shoulders.
With Taehyung and Jungkook, it was easy to get them to open up. The moment Jin asked what was wrong, they'd basically rant about their problems. With Yoongi, it was harder. He was more reserved than the other two housemates and it took a lot of probing, coaxing and bribing to get him to open up and even then, he didn't say much. Just enough to keep everyone off his back.
'Can we please just go?' Yoongi asked softly and Jin started the car, driving back onto the road.
***
They got to their hotel by midday and Jin drove around the little town, looking for the first hotel he saw. Why they didn't have them the moment you entered the city confused the fuck out of him but eventually, he found one. It didn't look too shabby on the outside but both boys knew that it was probably a disaster.
And they were right.
Yoongi had unpacked the car while Jin went and grabbed the key to the room, bitching under his breath about shitty customer service which made Yoongi laugh a little. Jin unlocked the door with a gasp, pushing it open. He scrunched his nose up at the sight and Yoongi peeked around Jin's shoulders. The room was so fucking tiny and ugly Yoongi didn't know how to feel.
The first thing you saw as you entered was a king size bed shoved near the door. Jin knew he'd end up bumping himself on it more than once during his stay. A closet was right near the bed. Another bed was at the other end of the room and it led directly to the bathroom. Yoongi was sure that the bathroom was tiny as fuck as well. There was barely any space between the second bed and the bathroom. The room didn't even have a proper kitchen, just a board hanging on the wall supporting a microwave with a mini fridge underneath.
'You had to pick this?' Yoongi mumbled, disgusted. His nose was scrunched up and he elbowed his way past Jin, bags in hand. He threw them on the floor and jumped on the bed. Leaning over, he plugged his phone in and waited for it to buzz to life. His phone had died about halfway during the trip and he was stupid enough to pack his charger in his bag which was kept in the boot. Kicking off his shoes, he relaxed and tried to rest.
'Shut the fuck up and enjoy it, Yoongi.' Jin snapped but his tone didn't hold any venom. Yoongi scoffed and grabbed his phone. He had a few messages from Hoseok.
Hope: How are things?
Hope: Yoongi???
Hope: Don't ignore me fucker.
Hope: Fine then. We're done.
Hope: Are you even receiving these.
Yoongi rolled his eyes before replying.
Yoongi: My phone had died and my charger was in the car. Sorry, I didn't mean to ignore you.
Hope: It's cool bud. How are things?
Yoongi: We're at a tiny, shitty hotel. We argued in the car. Things are peachy!! I can't do this save me.
Hoseok didn't reply so Yoongi turned his phone off. He stared at Jin with a raised eyebrow. The boy was still standing at the end of the bed awkwardly, fiddling with his shirt.
'Can you take a seat? You're making me uncomfortable.' Yoongi said, closing his eyes. They still had a few hours until the fair and he figured he could fit a nap in. Jin hesitantly sat down on the bed, running his fingers over the blanket, almost touching Yoongi's bony ankles. He watched Yoongi's chest rise up and down steadily.
'Can you please get comfortable? You're making me uneasy and feel awkward, Seokjin.' Yoongi mumbled with a yawn, not opening his eyes. Jin shrugged and laid back across the bed so that his legs were hanging off the edge and his neck was resting on Yoongi's feet. It wasn't exactly uncomfortable but it wasn't the most pleasant place to lie down on.
Both of them just sat in silence, Yoongi sleeping while Jin messed around on his phone.
Jinnie: So it's fucking weird I want out, Jungkook.
Kookie: What do you mean, Jin?
Jinnie: I don't know. We had a fight and now everything feels tense.
Kookie: Oh.
It was all in Jin's head, though. Yoongi was fine and he didn't have a problem with Jin. There was no tension to him.
Jin must've been staring at the ceiling for an hour because when he checked his phone again, he saw that it was two in the afternoon.
'I'm hungry. Where's food?' Yoongi asked, making Jin jump again. He looked over at the younger one, seeing that he was now sitting up in bed, hair messy and face still contorted in sleep.
'Um, I don't know.' Jin checked the bedside table, looking for a food menu. Sure enough, under a bible (seriously what's with hotels keeping those in bedside tables) and a phonebook, a piece of laminated paper with restaurants and fast food places were printed on both sides.
'Pizza?' Jin asked, going for the safest option. Half the places on here looked sketchy and like they'd give them good poisoning and the other half were spicy places which were something you didn't want to eat before going on a ride.
'Why not?' Yoongi got off the bed, stretching before pulling his shoes on again.
***
After they'd eaten, they'd headed over to the fairgrounds for the fair. Unfortunately, they didn't have a car since they walked to the pizza place and Jin wasn't keen on walking back home just to pick up the damn car. So they just walked there with Yoongi bitching until Jin carried him. The fairgrounds were pretty far away, being maybe half an hour walk.
It was only four in the afternoon by the time they reached the fairgrounds and Jin was surprised at how many cars were there. He tightened his grip on Yoongi's knees and starting running for the ticket booth. The laugh that left Yoongi's mouth and the way his fingers gripped Jin's shoulders made his heart race in his chest. He slowed as he neared the booth and groaned. The line wasn't that long thankfully but it was still long enough that they were waiting for twenty or so minutes in the hot sun.
Yoongi, despite just being carried for nearly half an hour, sat his ass down in the dirt, pulling his phone out. Jin rolled his eyes and leant against a tree near him, watching Yoongi.
'Your ass is going to get dirty and why are you sitting down?' Jin questioned and Yoongi shrugged.
'Leave me alone and stop judging my life choices, asshole.' His phone pinged, telling him that a text from Hoseok had appeared.
Hope: Shit man. How are you now?
Yoongi: I think we're all good.
Hope: Just in case, it isn't, have a good-looking selfie of me ;)
Honestly Yoongi was expecting a sexy and good looking selfie of Hoseok, not one of him derping and Yoongi couldn't' help the snort that left his mouth. Jin looked at him weirdly and Yoongi showed him the photo. Jin then shook his head.
'Get up the line's moving.' Jin said and Yoongi stood, turning his phone off. He kept walking forward until the line stopped again but this time, he didn't sit down. Instead, he leant on Jin.
'So, what ride do you want to go on first?' Yoongi asked, staring up at the Ferris wheel peeking over the top of the trees. He could hear the screams of terror and excitement coming from people already on the rides. The cheery yet creepy music that always played at these types of things mixed in with the voice-overs of people trying to sell their food and crafts. A weird type of feeling developed in Yoongi and it unsettled him.
Jin was watching the ticket line and shrugged. Excitement bubbled in him and he grabbed onto Yoongi's hand. Both of them stared at each other, giggling.
They waited another twenty minutes before it was their turn at the ticket booth, the lady behind the glasses winked at Jin and Yoongi raised an eyebrow.
'Hello, how many?' She asked, almost purring. Yoongi couldn't stop the second-hand embarrassment that washed over him. If only she knew that Jin was gay then she'd stop embarrassing herself.
'Two wristbands please.' Jin said, reaching into his pockets to get the correct change. She took the money from Jin, making sure her fingers brushed his and lingered on his skin. She then grabbed two yellow wristbands with a raised eyebrow. Yoongi stuck his wrist forward first. The lady hastily tied it around his wrist and he pulled back as Jin did the same.
And Yoongi wouldn't have noticed the way she slowly tied the band to Jin unless he'd been paying close attention. Yoongi most certainly wouldn't have noticed the way her fingers kept touching Jin's wrist unnecessarily unless he'd been watching carefully. And he surely wouldn't have picked up on the fact that she was obviously flirting with Jin.
'Thank you. Have a good day.' She winked at Jin. Yoongi rolled his eyes and clutched at Jin's wrist, pulling him inside. He almost bumped into a few people.
'She was flirting with you.' Yoongi teased and Jin smirked.
'Of course, she was. Everyone wants me.' He winked and Yoongi pushed him away, laughing. They both turned to properly focus on the fair and Yoongi swore his jaw hit the ground.
The set up took his breath away. To his left, all the faster rides and roller coasters were all bunched together. His right contained all the little kiddie rides and up ahead of him was the Ferris wheel, turning and lighting up the place. Little stores and stalls were scattered throughout the whole park. He could smell the sweet scent of cooking food and hear the constant buzz of talking and screaming. Yoongi was giddy again, feeling like a child in a lolly shop.
'Come on!' He took off running, pulling Jin along behind him. Jin just chuckled and Yoongi came to a sudden halt, a confused look on his face. He didn't know what ride to go on first. Jin slowed and just watched Yoongi, finding this way too funny.
Glancing around, he took in his options. A tower that looked like it rose a million feet into the air (probably an exaggeration but when you're 176cm and on the floor, anything like that looks huge) that had two tracks on either side of it. Seated right next to it was a red track with a turning buzz saw coated in fake blood out the front. That was appealing. A blue ride shaped like a wave that spun around and upside down was set up next to the buzz saw ride and Yoongi jumped when water shot out, hitting the people. Okay, we're definitely going on that later tonight.
'Let's go on the buzz saw one!' Yoongi shouted, this time not dragging Jin. He just ran ahead and Jin stood still, pulling out his phone and taking a photo.
Jinnie: He has more energy than Tae when he had four cups of coffee that day.
Kookie: Please keep an eye on the child. Don't let him get hurt or taken away. He is the size of a twelve-year-old.
Jin let out an ugly snort just as Yoongi called his name. Looking up, he noticed that Yoongi was already at the ride, waving his arms back and forth with a huge gummy smile on his face. Jin walked over, taking his sweet ass time.
They lined up behind the other people and Jin thanked whoever was looking over them that the line was so short as the amount of excitement and energy running in Yoongi's veins right now would not have been a good thing if they had to wait. Knowing Yoongi, he was pretty sure that if they had to wait more than half an hour, Yoongi would probably kill everyone just to get a go on the ride.
Jin's stomach plummeted when he took in the ride. The track rose straight up at a ninety-degree angle before branching out into a dip and twist, He watched in horror as the cart slowly rode up the track before speeding up as it went across the twist before diving straight down and up around again. It then came to a complete stop, half upside down before shooting backwards. Jin focused on the rocking sound of the tracks and how it seemed like it'd fall off. The screams from the people pierced his ears and he wasn't sure if he wanted to go on this ride now.
'Yoongi, are you sure you want to go on this?' He asked weakly, feeling his stomach dip again at the sight.
'Yeah. Why wouldn't I? It looks cool!' Yoongi shouted again, practically jumping.
'For someone who hates exercise and gets angry when the Gremlins make too much noise and move around too much, you sure are moving a lot and shouting at me.' Jin commented and Yoongi pushed him.
'Fuck off. I'm excited! I haven't been to a fair since I was twelve, Jin. I forgot about all the things that come with it.' Yoongi said and stared at the ride with wonder. He watched the ride do the twist and he had to admit, his stomach somersaulted at the sight.
They waited in line for another ten minutes before they were at the gate, Yoongi leaning on the chain separating them from the workers. They waited patiently as the workers ushered the previous riders off and checked over the ride to make sure it was safe. Once it was okay, one of them pulled at the rope and let the next twelve riders through.
Yoongi bounded over to the front climbed in, pulling his harness down over his chest. Jin on the other hand just stood there and blinked at his friend. There was no way in hell he was climbing in the front of a ride that dove head first at 1oo miles per fucking second straight down.
'Fuck no,' Jin mumbled but Yoongi gave him puppy eyes, biting his lip. With a sigh, he climbed in, running a hand through his hair and pulled his harness down. He couldn't ever say no to Yoongi pulling that face and he hated himself for it.
Once they were seated, one of the lady's working the ride walked past and made sure they were completely strapped in before going along the rest of the cart. After everyone was checked, she gave the okay and the ride shot off slowly and Jin grabbed onto Yoongi's wrist. Part of him was scared and the other half of him was running with adrenaline.
The cart climbed the track and the rattling sound would've worried Jin if he wasn't so focused on how pretty everything was. The sun had started to set and it painted the sky in blotches of pinks, light blues, yellows, oranges and a strip of purple. Oddly, it reminded Jin of bruises. He turned to look at Yoongi and his breath hitched.
Due to the sun setting on Yoongi's side, it had given him a soft outline and it made him look stunning. The huge grin on Yoongi's face combined with the way the light had framed his face made Jin want to take a photo.
Yoongi must've noticed Jin looking because he turned to look at him with a raised eyebrow. Jin opened his mouth to say something but at that moment they started to go upside down and all that came out was a tiny whimper, fingers digging into Yoongi's wrist. Yoongi laughed and shifted their hands so that he was holding Jin's and he stared at the track below him as the ride picked up speed, shooting them forward. Then came the part Jin had been dreading. They nosedived down the fucking ninety-degree drop. He squeezed both his eyes shut and Yoongi's hand harder as they dove downwards, screaming the whole time. Yoongi was laughing at him, he could tell. They then went upwards again before stopping. Jin peeked but at the wrong time as the cart shot backwards faster than before and Jin felt his stomach leave him, along with his soul. Why he agreed to this, he wasn't sure.
Yoongi on the other hand was enjoying this way too much. The ride was the best thing he'd ever been on in his life and combined with the way Jin was acting made it ten times better.
Much to Jin's pleasure and Yoongi's disappointment, the ride slowed to a stop and their harnesses popped open. With shaking legs, Jin climbed out and followed Yoongi out of the exit.
'Holy shit that was awesome!' Yoongi exclaimed, turning to Jin, his gummy smile so big Jin was sure it had to hurt his cheeks.
'Yeah, it kinda was.' Jin admitted, his own grinning taking over his mouth. Yoongi wouldn't let go of Jin and looked around.
Jin really couldn't get over how pretty Yoongi looked right now. The gummy smile on his face couldn't be wiped off and Jin was sure he's never seen his friend so happy. While Yoongi was distracted, Jin pulled his phone out, aiming the camera at Yoongi. Thankfully, Yoongi was still caught up in the looking for another ride to noticed Jin taking a photo of him. He put his phone away and grinned.
'Can we go on the drop?' Yoongi finally asked, pointing to the tower. Jin looked up, gulping before nodding. Why not?
'Okay sure.' Yoongi took off running again and joined the line. Jin trailed behind again, looking up at the sky. Eventually, he joined Yoongi and looked around, getting a basic idea of the layout and all the stores.
Yoongi hadn't checked his phone in a while and what he didn't realise was that Hoseok had sent him a message a few minutes ago.
Hope: This reminded me of you.
Hope: Fucking beautiful.
And every part of Yoongi set off, soaring high. He couldn't stop giggling and a faint blush appeared on his cheeks. It truly was beautiful and Yoongi didn't hesitate to set it as his lockscreen. Unlocking his phone, he smiled at the picture of his roommates and him when they went to the beach a few months ago. Now he had two of his favourites things.
Yoongi glanced over at Jin who was looking back down at him with a small smile on his face. The flashing lights played right across Jin's cheeks, giving them a coloured look. By now the sun had set and the lights on the rides had turned on as well as the emergency lights that stood around the fairgrounds.
The line for the drop moved faster this time and it only took them five minutes before they were climbing into a seat, pulling the harnesses down over their chests and the buckles across their laps. Jin glanced up and he couldn't see the top of the ride due to the overhanging shade and mechanics. Yoongi was kicking his feet, excitement bubbled up in him again and Jin grinned.
'Ready?' He asked as a worker came by and did a safety check, making sure they were both buckled in properly.
'Yep.' Yoongi said and grabbed onto Jin's hand. Jin raised an eyebrow and Yoongi smirked.
'You were a little baby on the last ride and I figured this one's scarier since it's higher. Just giving you a leverage, Jin.' Yoongi teased and if they weren't strapped into a chair, Jin probably would've smacked him. Instead, he opted for just squeezing Yoongi's hand really hard until the younger male yelped and pulled his hand away. Jin smirked in response.
The cart started travelling upwards slowly and nerves formed in Jin's stomach. Anxiety and fear climbed him. He took Yoongi's hand in his again and looked out over the field, almost gasping in wonder. It was pretty.
Due to how dark it now was, he couldn't see much but the flashing lights bouncing around kind of let him see. Little cars and specks of people milled around below and the higher they travelled, the softer the noise of the fair became and the louder the wind whipped in their ears. Jin's hair blew in the wind, getting in his eyes. Jin looked over at Yoongi just as the ride came to a stop.
Yoongi glanced below and his stomach dropped. Fuck we're so high up. He gulped and this time it was his turn to squeeze Jin's hand in fear. Yoongi's other hand gripped the metal bar of his harness tightly.
'Why have we stopped?' Yoongi began to panic, the most irrational fears setting in now. Is something wrong with the ride? Oh, fuck we're-
Yoongi let out the loudest fucking scream as they suddenly shot downwards, the wind getting louder. He squeezed his eyes shut and couldn't stop screaming. Jin was screaming as well but in pure delight because holy shit it was fun.
The ride came to a sudden stop, jolting their necks and their harnesses released the confines on the two boys. Both of Yoongi's hands ached from how hard he had been gripping the bar and Jin's hand and his legs shook and wobbled as he stood. Thankfully Jin kept a hand on his elbow and waist otherwise he would've toppled over and probably died. They made their way over to the exit, Jin bustling with excited energy while Yoongi wanted nothing more than to pass out from fear. A sign near the exit had a fun fact. The drop was 119m in the fucking air and fell at seven seconds. Fuck. No wonder it's so scary.
'That was fun!' Jin exclaimed and Yoongi glared at Jin.
'No. I think I want to sit down for a bit. Can we go and get fairy floss?' He asked quietly. The poor boy really was shaken up.
'Do you want me to carry you?' Jin asked softly and Yoongi nodded. Jin smiled and squatted so that Yoongi could climb onto his back. Yoongi's arms went limply around Jin's neck while his head rested on his shoulders. The older boy grabbed onto Yoongi's bony knees and started walking, looking out for a fairy floss store.
'So no more rides for a while?' Jin asked and Yoongi shook his head.
'Let me eat first then we can decide whether I can stomach another ride.' Yoongi mumbled as Jin stopped in front of a small stall that sold lollies and fresh fairy floss.
The smell hit Yoongi and he immediately shot up, wriggling out of Jin's grasp and over to the stand to join the line. Jin laughed as his phone buzzed.
Kookie: So,,, how is everything?
Jinnie: We're getting fairy floss rn. Yoongi just about shat himself on a ride tho. It was the best thing.
Kookie: Omg you should've filmed it.
Jinnie: I'm not going to bully him.
Kookie: So how's the plan???????
Jinnie: I don't know.
Yoongi had ordered three cones of fairy floss, two can of coke and two waffle cones with cream stuffed down them. Jin wanted to laugh at the look of pure concentration on Yoongi's face has he tried not to drop them.
Christ, how hungry are you?' Jin asked, taking a waffle cone, a can and one of the fairy floss sticks. Yoongi smacked his hand when he reached for another.
'I get two while you get one, fucker.' Yoongi hissed, taking a huge bite out of one fairy floss, eyes almost rolling back into his head in delight. They were good.
'Let's go and sit down, yeah?' Jin led them over to a small table sitting outside a pink and dainty looking ice cream shop. Yoongi raised his eyebrows at it as he continued eating.
'That shop looks gayer than you and it looks like the inside of a vagina.' He said and Jin choked on his coke, a hand going over his nose so he didn't spill it everywhere. Struggling to swallow, Jin coughed and Yoongi raised an eyebrow.
'Have you ever seen a vagina?' He asked.
'I saw your mum's last night.' Yoongi retorted with a straight face. Both of them stared at each other before they broke into a fit of giggles. Yoongi almost started choking on his fairy floss.
'Why are you like this?' Jin asked, struggling to get the words out through his laugh. Yoongi shrugged and clutched his stomach. Their cans were at a dangerous level of being knocked over.
'I've lived with Jeon for nearly three years. He's rubbed off on me.' Yoongi joked and tried to calm down. Both of them were breathing in and out deeply but Yoongi looked at Jin and burst into laughter again, head falling forward onto the table.
'Vaginas are gross.' Jin admitted randomly and Yoongi smirked. Jin scrunched his face up.
'Thank god you're gay.' Yoongi teased and Jin pegged a piece off his cone at him, making Yoongi yelp. He caught sight of someone over Jin's shoulder and furrowed his eyebrows, confusion settling over him. Jin raised an eyebrow and turned around, scanning the crowd. What?
'What the fuck did you see?' Jin asked, facing Yoongi again. The younger boy shrugged, taking another sip of his coke.
'I thought I saw Jimin but it must've just been someone like him.' And Yoongi thought it was him. He'd only seen Jimin in pictures a couple times and he'd recently dyed his hair red. Unfortunately, the guy was running off, probably looking for someone before Yoongi could get a closer look. Besides, it was probably just his imagination.
'Who's Jimin again?' The name was familiar to Jin, just didn't ring any bells. He'd definitely heard the name before though. Yoongi rolled his eyes, fiddling with the paper fairy floss stick. His fingers were tinted pink from the wet left over Yoongir and they were slightly sticky.
'The guy Hoseok is dating.' Yoongi deadpanned and Jin nodded, finishing off his can. The mood was ruined. Neither of them were in a laughing mood anymore.
'Do you want to go on another ride?' Jin asked and Yoongi shrugged.
'I kind of just want to look around right now. I've only just eaten and I'm still shaken up because of the Drop.' Yoongi mumbled nd Jin nodded, understanding. Honestly, the thought of going on another fast ride just after you've eaten a shit tonne of Yoongir and sweets wasn't very appealing.
'Do you think they have those little mini game stalls?' Jin asked, standing and throwing his trash away. Yoongi followed his friend's actions and proceeded to wipe his sticky hands on his jeans, trying to get rid of the substance. It didn't work. His hands were still sticky and he scrunched his nose up.
'Probably. I mean, it is a mini fair.' Yoongi commented and they slowly began walking in silence.
Yoongi couldn't get enough of everything. The flashing, bright coloured lights. The loud voices over speakers from the rides or people selling things in stores. The screaming of people on rides. The constant action, noise and lights made him feel alive. He missed things like this. Yoongi hadn't been to a fair or a show since he was twelve when his family could no longer afford to take him to one anymore.
Yoongi felt a pang in his chest when he saw a little boy with mouse ears on, talking and laughing as the mum handed him a huge ass lollipop the dad motioned to a ride to which the kid nodded enthusiastically. Yoongi couldn't help but smile sadly as he watched the child run off, the parents following behind.
It was things like this that made him miss his parents more than usual. He missed moments when he was a little kid, coming to these fairs and going on the small kiddie rides, cracking a tantrum when his parents forbid him from going on rollercoasters.
'Hey, Yoongi you okay? You've got a sad little smile on your face.' Jin asked, snapping Yoongi out of his nostalgia. He looked up at the taller boy, smiling properly.
'Yeah. Just thinking about stuff.' He said, his tone signalling that the conversation was over. Jin pointed at a small mini game with balloons.
'What's the bet I can kick your ass at this game.' Jin changed the subject and Yoongi scoffed.
'Please.' He said, running over to the stand. The man smiled at both of them warmly and Yoongi smiled back, reading the rules.
Basically, they had to aim a dart at a balloon and pop as many as possible in thirty seconds. Each balloon had points behind it. Pure luck.
'One game for each please.' Jin asked and paid the man the amount of money before ushering Yoongi first.
'Have to have the loser play first.' Jin said and Yoongi pinched his friend's arm before collecting the darts. Jin cursed and stood back, arms crossed over his chest.
The timer went off and Yoongi started throwing the darts. Low numbers kept coming up and he got frustrated. When he saw that he had four seconds left he just gave up and pegged the rest of them at the board.
'Score of 286. Nice.' The man said and motioned for Jin to step forward. The man collected the darts and handed them to Jin before moving out of the road. The buzzer went off and Jin threw the darts, one after another in a blur. Yoongi covered his eyes, not wanting to see Jin's score. It wasn't until Jin started yelling and laughing that Yoongi uncovered his eyes. His jaw dropped to the floor and he gasped. Jin had kicked his ass by a landslide. 586 VS 286.
'I win!' Jin started dancing and Yoongi pushed him.
'You cheated!' He complained and the man chuckled.
'Would you like your prizes, sir?' He said to both of them and Jin nodded. The man explained the price range for the prizes and Jin pointed to the pink teddy hidden up the top just under his score. Yoongi pouted before poking at the little Ryan toy in front of him. It was probably the size of his hand. The man handed them the prizes and Jin immediately smacked Yoongi over the head with his bear, grinning his smirk. Yoongi wanted to wipe it off his face.
'Have a good night you two!' The man called after them as the two boys left. Yoongi held onto his Ryan toy, smiling.
'You still cheated.' He argued and Jin just rolled his eyes before pulling over to the side to a stop. They were in front of a small hotdog stand and Yoongi wanted some now.
'If you're gonna bitch so much, have it.' He said, holding out the pink bear. Yoongi shook his head and pushed it away.
'No it's okay. You just take it.' Yoongi refused to take the bear. Jin did win it fair and square.
'Take it as an apology, please. For going against you.' Jin mumbled, waving the toy in Yoongi's face. Yoongi smiled softly before hesitantly taking it.
'Thank you.' He whispered and looked at it. Jin checked the time. It was only 07:45pm. They had a little bit of time before the thing shut.
'Did you want to go on another ride or do something else like another mini game?' Jin asked and Yoongi waved his hands in the air like a kid, grinning wildly.
'I want to do the Wipeout! It looks like so much fun!' Yoongi shouted and a young lady looked over at them, eyebrow raised. Yoongi just grinned before dashing off back to the faster rides, almost knocking over a little kid. Both Jin and the lady watched him. Jin smiled sheepishly.
'Sorry. He's had too much Yoongir today.' He apologised and the lady nodded slowly before continued on with her journey, mumbling under her breath. With a sigh, Jin started jogging to catch up to Yoongi who was in line for the ride. He was leaning against the barrier, looking down at his phone.
'Fucking hell you're slow.' Comment Yoongi, not looking up from his phone. Jin rolled his eyes and flicked Yoongi's forehead.
'And you're fast for someone who bitches about exercise.' Jin retorted and Yoongi flipped him off. Jin's phone buzzed and saw Jungkook's name on his screen.
Kookie: So how is everything?
Jinnie: He's acting like such a hyperactive child. I think I'll need to keep him on a leash.
Kookie: OOooh kinky ;)
Jinnie: I'm gonna smack you when I get home.
Kookie: Spank me daddy ;)
Jinnie: I'm blocking you
Jinnie: How is Taemin handling you two little shits?
Kookie: Everything is peachy. We're actually playing Mario Kart rn. Tae's winning.
Jinnie: And you aren't fighting him?
Kookie: No. He looks funny like this. Plus I'm not really playing. I'm studying for the QCS Test.
'The line's moving again.' Yoongi interrupted Jin's conversation and Jin put his phone away. The line had moved up a little and Jin grinned, feeling giddy again as he followed the line until it came to a halt. From where he was standing, he could see the ride clearly and how it worked. Gulping, he watched it come to life.
The ride swung upside down and rotated in circles like a wave (hence the name, Jin figured) before coming to a complete stop at the highest peak, it rocking back and forth gently before turning in a complete circle and diving downwards again.
'I feel like we're gonna throw up.' Yoongi observed and Jin just nodded. He wasn't scared per se, just a little nervous to be going upside down that many times. Yoongi jumped when a spray of water shot out of the machine and sprayed the cart, eliciting more screams from the riders.
'Fuck that's wicked.' Jin said, voice breathy in awe. Impatient, he tapped his foot and Yoongi giggled.
They waited another ten minutes before it was finally their turn. This time they sat smack bang in the middle and Jin wasn't sure if he was disappointed or not. He was seated between a kid who looked to be about thirteen and Yoongi who was kicking his legs again.
The workers stopped at each person and strapped them in properly, Jin grabbed onto Yoongi's wrist, a huge grin that mirrored Yoongi's.
Eventually, the ride kicked off, immediately turning them upside down and Yoongi could just make out the shimmering water below them in the dark. He giggled as they were upright again. The ride started rocking them at a slow pace and Yoongi could feel excitement bubbling up under his skin as anticipation killed him.
Jin tried to peak over the edge but couldn't see shit anyway due to how dark it was. Suddenly he found himself looking at the ground as the ride shot off again, twisting and turning. Jin couldn't stop the scream that came out of his mouth at the surprise movement. He gripped Yoongi's wrist harder as they spun. Both of them jumped when the water splashed them, soaking their legs.
Slowly, the ride stopped at the platform and their harnesses opened up, leaving them free. As they climbed off the ride, Yoongi began bitching about his legs.
'I can't believe my legs are now soaked.' He whined, lifting his left leg and shaking it, a disapproving noise leaving his mouth at the darkened fabric. Jin just rolled his eyes and smirked at the Ferris Wheel. No or never. He told himself.
'Ferris Wheel?' He asked hopefully and Yoongi shrugged.
'Why not. Then can we go home? I'm tired now.' He mumbled and Jin grabbed his wrist. This time though, they took their time. Yoongi was about to pass out due to how low on energy he was and how exhausted he was. The ground looked very comfortable right now.
Jin was just trying to stall time. Why he was forcing himself to do this he didn't know but he was. The Ferris Wheel loomed up ahead of them and with each step, the knot of nerves tightened and his feet felt heavy.
They stood in line for only five minutes and before Jin knew it, he was seated in a cart with Yoongi beside him, leaning his head on his shoulder. Jin made a deal with himself. If the ride stops at the very top, I'll tell him. He wrapped his arm around Yoongi's shoulders and Yoongi's eyes closed slightly.
They made a few stops and with each second, Yoongi started to get hyper again to the point where he was no longer seated and staring outside. Jin could see it as well from his seat and he had to admit, it was pretty.
The constant lights from the rides lit up the sky with bright colours and the contrast of complete and utter darkness on the horizon was pretty to him. He quickly took a photo of Yoongi standing near the window, his silhouette being illuminated softly by the lights and Jin found himself smiling.
The cart came to a stop at the top of the ride, rocking slightly and the anxiety returned to Jin's stomach. He'd completely forgotten about his promise while he was distracted.
'Hey, Yoongi,' He started and Yoongi turned around, eyebrow raised. 'Can you take a seat for a moment?' The ride was still stopped and he wished it would start moving again.
'Why?' Yoongi asked slowly but took a seat across from Jin, concern written on his face.
'I need to ask you something.' Sweat beaded on Jin's neck and Yoongi frowned.
Oh fuck. Don't you dare. Up until now, he'd completely forgotten about Jin's little crush on him and if it was going the way he thought it was, Yoongi had no idea how he'd react right now.
'Um, okay.'
'Well, for a while now,' Jin continued and lowered his voice as the ride began moving again, slowly. 'I've kinda had a huge crush on you.' It came out in one long sentence and Yoongi couldn't focus on anything anymore.
'Oh. Fuck.' Was all he said and the carriage suddenly felt like it wasn't producing enough air. Almost choking, Yoongi grabbed onto his knee tightly to offer some leverage.
'I'm sorry. I shouldn't have said anything since you like Hoseok-' Yoongi cut off Jin with a small voice.
'I already knew.' By now, the carriage had stopped at the bottom and Yoongi fled the cart in panic, taking off running in the direction of the exit. Jin was hot on his heels, confused. Was he that obvious?
Yoongi almost bumped into a few people as he stood outside the fairgrounds, bent over with his hands on his knees as he tried to regain his breathing again.
'Yoongi wait.' Jin caught up to him and stood a few feet away. 'Who told you?'
'Taehyung told me. At first I thought he was kidding because that's who Tae is and now, here you are, confessing to me now.' Yoongi's voice rose and he felt hysterical. Why he was acting like this he didn't know but he felt overwhelmed.
'Taehyung told you?' Jin asked softly and anger bubbled in him. He was so fucking angry. Angry at himself for letting his feelings slip, at Taehyung for telling Yoongi and at Yoongi, the boy himself for entering his life.
'Yes. Please don't let him know.' Yoongi said, trying to defuse the quickly building fire.
'And why shouldn't I? He spilled the one thing I told him to keep to himself!' Jin shouted and he felt so fucking betrayed. He forced Jungkook and Taehyung to promise and keep their mouths shut. He made them swear that they wouldn't say a word. Now, he was here being told that his roommate had spilled his secret.
'Please don't take it out on him.' Yoongi mumbled and Jin scoffed. He balled his hands into fists and took a deep breath.
'Whatever. Let's just fucking go home.' His tone held no emotion and he took off walking, leaving Yoongi behind. He texted Jungkook.
Jinnie: It turned out fucking terrible.
Jinnie: Also Tae is in for it when we get back. Let him fucking know that Yoongi spilled the beans and that I'm not happy.
By the time Yoongi had started walking, Jin was already in the car, staring out at the gravel, hands gripping the steering wheel. Yoongi climbed into the car wordlessly.
