* Chapter Five
It had originally been Jungkook's idea. They'd been sitting at the table that morning, Jungkook trying to finish some school work and Jin bitching about the fair that was coming to the next town over and how he had no one to take. He'd scored tickets from a colleague. Jungkook had rolled his eyes and suggested taking Yoongi. Whether it was a date or not was up to Jin. Jin had stared at the younger one with bewilderment and spluttered nonsense; trying to deny everything and Jungkook had just rolled his eyes. He wasn't stupid.
'You aren't as subtle as you think you are, Jinnie. The only person who doesn't know is Yoongi which doesn't make sense since he's more alert. If Taehyung can pick up on this crush then anyone can. But seriously, how doesn't Yoongi know how far up his ass you are?' Jungkook threw a pencil at Jin before adding, 'close your mouth, you'll catch flies. Now go and make breakfast and leave me alone. I have homework to do and if I don't finish it, I'll get my ass kicked.' Jin had then stumbled to his feet and left the younger boy alone. He'd shut the door behind him and peeked his head into his own room, heart softening at the ball curled onto the bed. He'd gone to sit on his bed and watch Yoongi sleep, as creepy as it sounded. He loved watching Yoongi sleep. The boy looked peaceful and soft in slumber. Jin's heart fluttered and warmed up at the sight. When Yoongi began to stir, he quickly got up and left. If Yoongi caught him staring, Jin would never hear the end of it. He decided on making breakfast like Jungkook asked him to. When he'd left for class after Taehyung had shouted at him, Jin felt a little sad leaving Yoongi alone for the day. Sure he was always alone but it didn't feel right leaving him alone this time.
Jin wouldn't call himself a perfect student but he always paid attention in class. This time though, all he could think about was Yoongi and the kind-of-date trip to the fair. He couldn't stop the grin on his face when he pictured the gummy smile on his best friend's face when they went on the fast rides. Or how Yoongi would beg Jin for fairy floss and sweets and basically to try every little piece of food at the fair.
He pulled out his phone and started texting Yoongi, not even caring about what the teacher would say. It was all about the quiz happening next week and Jin knew all the shit anyway. Jin didn't bring up the fair since he was too nervous. He tried to type it out but chickened and erased the message.
Jin didn't even notice that class was over until a classmate of his (Jihyo he thought her name was) tapped him on the shoulder and told him that class had ended five minutes ago. A blush spread across Jin's cheeks when he realized that she was right and that they were the only two left in class. Even the teacher had left. He hastily got out of his seat and kept apologizing but Jihyo just giggled and left, Jin following once he was packed up.
After checking his watch, he realized that he had a few hours to kill before he had another class. He only had two that day thankfully. He wanted to go home and spend the time with Yoongi but the younger one had work that day so Jin just opted for calling Yoongi instead.
He was nervous bringing up the fair. The answer would probably be a yes but he still couldn't help the doubt that filled him. He was scared that Yoongi would confront him about Jin's feelings and say no. When Yoongi did say yes though, he felt his anxiety melt away and relaxed his tense muscles, a smile forming on his face. The only problem Yoongi found was convincing his boss, Jonghyun to let him go. Jin could probably charm the guy with his good looks and sweet talking. The other slight problem was the apartment. Neither of them trusted the two children to look after the apartment themselves.
Once Yoongi had hung up, Jin felt lighter and giddy. He typed in Jungkook's name and cursed himself for texting the boy during class.
Jinnie: So, Yoongi said yes and since I can't trust you or Tae to look after my apartment, I'm getting Taemin to help housesit.
Kookie: Why are you texting me during school for one. Two, why don't you trust us?
Jinnie: You broke my Mario collectable last time I went away. What makes you think I trust you?
Kookie: You have a point but still,,, ouch. Betrayed by my own family!
Jin rubbed his temples and smiled. This kid I swear. His heart leapt though. Jungkook had always thought of them as family, that was given but hearing (or seeing it written) it made his heart race. It was so cute and Jin couldn't help but smile.
Kookie: So back to this date... Yoongi said yes?
Jinnie: He did.
Kookie: Do you plan on confessing?
Jinnie: Maybe, if the occasion presents itself.
Kookie: Do it on the Ferris wheel when it stops at the top! Oh it'll be so romantic!
Jinnie: Since when are you romantic?
Kookie: Since always *wiggles eyebrows*
Jinnie: We might not be allowed to go if his boss doesn't say yes.
Kookie: You have charms, use em.
Kookie: Now let me get back to school.
Jin didn't reply and headed home. His stomach made a noise and he realized that he hadn't eaten anything that morning. Cooking some food would be a great way to kill time. That is if I don't accidentally burn myself and get distracted.
He was probably ten minutes away when he got a message from Taehyung.
Taebaby: Jin!! Other Tae and I are hungry. Is your class over? We want some of your delicious cooking!!
Taebaby: Also Jungkookie told me that you're gonna confess to him at the fair thing. Is that true or false.
Jinnie: 1. Yoongi said yes. I do plan to confess. 2. 'Other Tae'? Meaning Taemin? 3. is he really hungry or is that just an excuse to get me to cook for your lazy ass?
Taebaby: ;)
Taebaby: Taemin is actually hungry let my boy live. Also, tell me how it goes btw. The confession that is.
Jin headed inside the apartment building and opened the door to the dance studio. Watching the Two Taes (as Yoongi called them) was something. Taemin was a better dance than Taehyung so watching both of them dance together was actually hilarious. He had to admit, they were good.
Taemin was the first to notice Jin as he stopped the music and smacked Taehyung on the arm. Taehyung scowled before Taemin pointed to Jin and Taehyung's face lit up in a smile. He ran over to Jin and tried to catch his breath.
'Did you bring food?' He puffed out between pants and Jin shook his head. Taehyung's shirt was sticky with sweat and his hair was dripping with it. Jin was sure he smelled bad too.
'I just got home. I'm going upstairs now. Both of you are welcomed to my cooking.' He turned on his heels and headed up the stairs to their apartment. He hated taking the elevator and preferred the stairs. Okay so he may have a tiny fear of moving closed cages. Jin was glad that the apartment wasn't that high up, only being on the third floor. He heard the studio door being shut and the sounds of running footsteps a few paces behind him. He reached the floor of their apartment and took the four steps it took to reach their door.
The Two Taes were quite far behind him and he rifled through his bag, trying to find his keys. He was still looking for them when the two boys reached the door panting and huffing. What If I left them at the university or I lost them? Oh god. We don't exactly have any spare keys.
Only two people were allowed to own a set of keys and that was Yoongi and Jin since they were the first original house owners. No one else was allowed them. Yoongi had the reason of 'I don't trust the other two' and Jin lowkey agreed.
'I'm going to die of starvation.' Taehyung complained and Taemin just shushed him. Jin let out a cry of relief when he found his keys. Taehyung let out a whoop and the other Tae giggled, mumbling 'finally' under his breath.
'Shut up and get inside.' Jin mumbled, unlocking the door for them. The moment the door was unlocked, Tae rushed over to the fridge and grabbed out Yoongi's juice, taking a huge swig of it. Jin opened his mouth to stop Taehyung but closed it when Taehyung put the bottle back.
'He's not going to know,' Taehyung smirked and stuck his hand in his pockets, his smirk fading after a while. 'Shit I forgot my phone.' Taehyung turned to Taemin who handed him the keys to the studio with a sigh. The younger boy dashed out the door and Taemin shook his head, taking a seat at the table. Jin just grinned and looked in the fridge for eggs.
'He'd forget his head if it wasn't screwed on.' Taemin mumbled and Jin began making scrambled eggs. Turning the heat on low, he kept stirring them.
'I know.' Jin grabbed his phone and texted Yoongi.
Jinnie: Talk to your boss.
Yoongi: Going rn. He just walked in.
'I heard you and Yoongi were going on a date to a fair over in the next town.' Taemin said, crossing his legs. Jin shrugged, waiting for a reply. Jin didn't bother correcting Taemin on the incorrect name. He probably should've but he was slightly distracted.
'If Jonghyun says yes then sure.' Taemin's eyes lit up and he clapped his hands.
'I can talk to him if you want. He's one of my friends.' Taemin asked and Jin shook his head.
'No it's okay. I can do it.' Jin's phone beeped, signaling a text from Yoongi.
Yoongi: Bad news. He said no more holidays L
'Now what do I do?' Jin mumbled under his breath and stirred the eggs. At that moment, Taehyung came running into the apartment and sat down in the lounge room, his loud breathing echoing into the kitchen. I can call Jong and convince him?
'Would it be a bad idea if I called him and asked?' Jin asked and Taemin shrugged.
'Worth a shot.'
'What are the risks though?'
'Yoongi losing his job, Yoongi hating you...' Taehyung shouted and threw his legs over the armrest. His feet were the only thing visible to the two in the kitchen.
'I'm gonna kick you.' Jin said but Taehyung was right. If Yoongi lost his job, he would probably hate Jin for a while.
'Do it. I dare you.' Taehyung challenge and Jin grabbed the spatula and took a threatening step forward in Taehyung's direction.
'Enough. Just keep making food, Seokjin.' Taemin stood up and stepped in, not wanting to see his friends kick each other's asses. As funny as it would be, he really didn't want to have to rush someone to the hospital.
'I'm going to call Jonghyun and see what I can do.' Jin quickly dialed the pizza place and waited.
'Hello this is Yoongi from Pizza Palace how may I help you?' Yoongi answered with a bored tone and Jin seriously struggled not to laugh.
'Hello, may I speak to the manager?' Jin put on a fake accent and Taemin stared at him with a judging expression and large eyes. Taehyung was snorting from the lounge.
'Oh um, okay.' He said, uncertain before shouting for Jonghyun. All three of them in the kitchen struggled not to let out laughs.
'How may I help you?' Jonghyun's voice came through the phone and Jin dropped the fake accent.
'Uh hi. This is Kim Seokjin,' He paused. 'I'm Yoongi's boyfriend.' Taemin's eyes widened to the size of saucers and even Taehyung sat up on the couch, a shocked expression on his face. His mouth formed a small 'o' shape.
'Ah hi. How may I help you? Did you want to speak to Yoongi?' Jonghyun asked and Jin bit his lip.
'Actually, I wanted to speak to you. You're the boss, correct?' Taemin slapped his forehead, muttering under his breath and Jin gave him the finger.
'Yes...' Jonghyun sounded a little unsure and Jin was starting to get nervous.
'Well you see...' Jin stumbled over his words and a sweat had broken out on his neck. Taemin shot up and switched off the stove. He was sure the eggs were burning. 'Has Yoongi spoken to you about this fair coming up this weekend?'
'Yes he has. He mentioned it once when he first started his shift. Why?' Jonghyun asked and Jin furrowed his eyebrows, trying to form the words. For s
'Well, you see, Yoongi and I have been dating for a few months and I wanted to propose to him at the fair on the Ferris wheel,' At that, Taehyung ran into the kitchen and his mouth dropped open. Taemin's eyebrows came together and Jin winced. 'And well, he mentioned that he wasn't allowed anymore holiday breaks.'
'I see.' Jonghyun mumbled and Jin sucked in a breath.
'I promise you that if you let him have this weekend off, I swear I'll make sure he won't ever have any more days off.' His sentence came out in such a rush he was slightly surprised that Jonghyun understood.
'Okay fine. I'll give him this weekend off.' Jin grinned and gave a thumbs up at the Two Taes.
'Thank you so much! Please don't mention the plan to Yoongi though. It has to be a secret.' Jin mumbled and Taehyung dished himself a plate of half scrambled eggs. The eggs were a little burnt but still looked fine.
'I won't say a word. Have a good day and weekend, Seokjin.' Jonghyun said before hanging up. Once Jin had placed his phone down, Two Taes pounced on him, Taemin being the more sensible one of course.
'What the hell do you mean 'proposal'? Since when?' Taehyung shouted and Jin shrugged.
'I had to lie! Do you think he would've let Yoongi have the day off if I told him the truth?' Jin snapped and grabbed his phone, pulling up Yoongi's contact.
Jinnie: Youre all set for this weekend.
Yoongi: The fuck did you do
Jinnie: I spoke to your boss and told him.
Yoongi: How?
Jinnie: Magic ;)
Yoongi: I don't know whether to be angry or relived.
Jinnie: Don't kill me.
Jin pocketed his phone again and Two Taes stared at him, Taemin with a raised eyebrow and Taehyung was shaking his head.
'I hope you realise you'll have to tell Yoongi so that when Jong asks about the proposal, he plays along.' Taemin had a good point and Jin mumbled out a curse word.
'Yeah. I'll tell him the day we leave,' He jumped onto the counter. 'So Taemin, you free to house sit this weekend? I don't trust Tae or Jeon not to mess the apartment up.' Taehyung scoffed.
'Sure why not?' Taemin shrugged. 'It's not like I have anything else planned this weekend.'
'I'll pay you for it. Just make sure they don't turn this house into a pigsty and that Jungkook actually studies. Oh and that Taehyung doesn't eat all my food.'
'I'm right here, Jin.' Taehyung waved his hands and Taemin slapped Taehyung's shoulder.
'Nah don't worry about money. It'll be like a sleepover.' Taemin said and stood, stretching.
'Thank you for this, Tae.'
'It's seriously nothing. I've got to get going. I'll see you tomorrow morning?' Taemin ruffled Taehyung's hair who scowled and slapped the older one's hands away. Jin nodded.
'See you tomorrow,' Taemin waved and headed out the door. Once he was out of sight, Jin sighed.
'Well then.' Was all he said and Taehyung shook his head.
'You're going to be in deep shit with Jonghyun if you don't tell Yoongi about your plan.' Tae mumbled, spooning more eggs into his mouth.
'I know.' Jin rubbed a hand over his chin and sighed. He was slightly annoyed with the constant buzzing of their nosey questions.
'And you've got to confess because that'll be a cute story to tell in the future.' Taehyung said through a mouthful of eggs. Jin jumped off the counter and walked to his bedroom. He had until Friday to think of ways to break it to Yoongi what was happening. He'd figure something out.
