* Chapter Fifteen
Yoongi had Saturday off so he made the most of it by sleeping in until nearly 10am. It was his first day off in a few weeks and he wanted to enjoy and spend it lazing around. He would've slept the whole day if it wasn't for the clanging of pots and pans and loud fucking noises coming from the kitchen. He didn't want to move just yet, stayed in bed, a scowl on his face as a headache formed. I'm gonna fucking murder whoever that is.
He'd stayed up late texting Hoseok about different things. They moved from lighter topics as stupid as cats that flew with purple wings,
('Why the fuck do they have purple wings?'
'Use your imagination, Yoongi. It's all part of the fun') to deeper, more psychological topics like death and the afterlife. And he had to admit, it unnerved him to hear Hoseok speak like that. Sure, he heard the younger one speak about his life and what he wanted to accomplish but he'd never heard him speak of dying and the afterlife. The only person Yoongi knew that spoke like that was Namjoon due to the very brief conversations they'd had together. That boy could get so psychological it unravelled Yoongi's brain.
Yoongi knew Hoseok was still upset about his fight with Jimin. Hoseok didn't have to tell him, it was in his voice. Yoongi could tell his friend was trying his hardest to put up a façade but it wasn't working. He never didn't comment on it though. He never would with Hoseok. His one fear was overstepping a boundary and ruining their friendship forever. Jimin was a boundary to him.
Grumbling to himself about ungrateful, inconsiderate roommates, Yoongi made his way into the kitchen, rubbing his temple to help ease his headache. It was ten am on a fucking Saturday. Did they have no consideration for others?
'I'm going to fucking skin you alive.' He shouted as he came to a halt in the hallway, taking in the sight of Jungkook standing near the stove, egg flipper in one hand and the sweet, yummy smell of toast wafting around the apartment. Yoongi stood dumbfounded for a spilt second as his still-sleepy brain tried to make sense of why the fuck Jungkook was standing in the kitchen at 10 in the morning, cooking breakfast until, he remembered. Then it hit him. Not only Jungkook had graduated yesterday, but it was also a Saturday morning. Oh my god. I really am stupid.
The youngest turned around, bunny smile on his face. He wore a shirt that looked like Taehyung's and his normal sleep pants, completed with fluffy hair and bunny slippers. Yoongi found that he looked like a six year old, not an eighteen year old and refrained from giggling. He's so cute I'm gonna squeeze his cheeks. Luckily, he held back the urge and instead slowly sat down at the table, yawning.
'Hey Yoongi! I thought it'd be a nice surprise to make an omelette on toast?' Jungkook said but it sounded more like a question, as if he wasn't so sure if it was a good idea or not. Blinking owlishly, the older male rest his head on his hand, trying to wake up. It took everything in him not to lay his head down on the table and fall asleep. Drowsiness still lingered in him and the placemat looked oddly comfortable. He mumbled some incoherent response to Jungkook who took it as a good sign, a huge grin appearing on his small face.
Before long, he was setting down a plate of a hot, steaming omelette and immediately, Yoongi's mouth was watering, mind more alert. Jungkook then placed down two cups of steaming liquid. Coffee for Yoongi, peppermint tea for himself. He took a seat across from Yoongi, a small, tired grin on his face. Now I'm awake.
'Sorry for waking you up, Yoongi. But I made breakfast and well...' Jungkook trailed off with a small nod of his head. Yoongi hummed in response before digging into his omelette. He had to admit, Jungkook was a pretty good cook. Not as good as Jin (no one was as good as Jin) but still he could cook a decent meal and Yoongi didn't want to throw up. So in his eyes, anyone who made decent food that looked good, was a good cook.
'This is really good.' He mumbled out, a mouthful of food and Jungkook took another sip of his tea, grinning madly.
'Thank you.' He whispered and both of them fell into a silence as Yoongi scoffed down everything on his plate. Jungkook had something to say, Yoongi could sense it but he was waiting for his roommate to finish eating before he spoke. Until Yoongi had finished, Jungkook just slowly drank his tea and watched, a small, smile illuminating his face. Once Yoongi had placed his knife and fork down against the plate and pushed the plate away from him gently, Jungkook lowered his own cup and turned his attention to Yoongi.
'I want to ask, why aren't you at work?' Yoongi asked, butting in first, frowning slightly. Sure, he was grateful that his roommate had cooked him breakfast (or maybe it was brunch) but he was curious as to why he wasn't at work. Namjoon had said that Jungkook had to work now that he'd graduated.
Jungkook shrugged, hesitating a little before answering. 'I'm not sure. Tae told me not to come in today. I'm okay with that though. I get to spend the day with my favourite person,' Jungkook winked, causing both of them to start laughing.
'Okay fair enough. But don't you want to go to work now that you've graduated?' Yoongi drank his coffee, tapping his feet against the side of the table. He studied Jungkook. The way he gulped a little and the grip on his cup tightened just a smidge, the way his lip was drawn between his teeth and was bleeding just the slightest bit from the pressure.
'I don't know, Yoongi. I really do want to work but, I just don't feel up to it.' Jungkook sighed, looking down. Yoongi could feel Jungkook's pain. Trying to help, he placed his hand over Jungkook's and squeezed his fingers.
'I get it. Take the time you need, Kookie. You've gone through a lot.' He whispered softly and Jungkook's eyes twinkled. Whether it was from tears or something else, Yoongi wasn't sure.
'Thank you.' The younger whispered. They fell into a silence again. Jungkook drank his tea and Yoongi could actually smell it. The strong peppermint floated around the kitchen and Yoongi had always hated mint. The smell and taste was disgusting. He tried to ignore it as best as he could.
'When's this prom thing?' He asked a few minutes later. Jungkook's eyes lit up again.
'It's tonight, actually. Yugyeom's going away tomorrow or something. Preparing for college,' Jungkook's mood dropped a little and Yoongi immediately picked up on the way his voice wavered the tiniest bit and how he refused to look at the boy across from him. Yoongi knew Jungkook's goal was to attend college after he graduated. He'd spilled that to Yoongi at one point. He had the opportunity to apply for some. He would've gotten in. He's a smart kid with a bright personality. Yet, Yoongi knew that he didn't do anything because of money and it would've meant leaving his roommate and life here behind. Especially Taehyung. More than likely, they'd have to figure out some long distance thing and they rarely ever worked out. Jungkook knew the outcome. So he decided to just stay here and work, like the rest of his roommates. Besides he was afraid of abandoning his set up and the way he lived. 'So we have to hold it tonight. It'll just be us four, Taemin and those two. That's it. Oh! I think Namjoon's coming.'
'Okay fair enough.'
'It starts around six tonight. So be ready. You have to come or I'll kill you.' Jungkook threatened but he wasn't very frightening. He looked more like a child trying to be tough.
'I wouldn't miss this thing for the world, Kookie. I'll be there.' Yoongi leaned over and ruffled Jungkook's hair, making the younger pout and scowl before grinning.
'Also,' the smallest glint and smirk crossed the younger's face and Yoongi took it as a bad sign. 'Jin's picking his mum up today and you're coming apparently.' Letting out a groan, Yoongi let his head fall onto the placemat with a dull thud. He really hated Jin's mum and he really didn't feel like going to pick that snake up.
'Do I have to?' His voice was muffled but Jungkook had heard him.
'Yes. Jin will text you all the details later. Or maybe he's already done it.' Jungkook glanced up at the clock again, eyebrow raised. With a sigh, Yoongi stood up and finished his coffee.
'I'm going to go and enjoy my last few hours of peace before this snake shows up.' He spat and the knowing smirk on Jungkook's face just bugged him further. Deciding that punching the kid wouldn't be a good idea, he settled for messing up his hair again.
'Good luck.' The younger one giggled.
'Isn't this upsetting you? Knowing Jin's mother is going to be here for your prom?' Yoongi whined.
'Nope. I quite like Jin's mum. She's lovely and she always brings back chocolate from where ever she's coming back from.' Jungkook grinned again and Yoongi was seriously about to smack the kid.
Jin's mum was always out travelling the world. She'd pretty much been doing it since Jin had graduated high school. Recently, she'd visited Australia. She said it was lovely but really hot. Jin had told him that she was ready to come back and pay a visit to her 'lovely son and his roommates.'
Yoongi hated her. He really didn't know why but a deep seething anger ran in him. He always felt guilty for hating her like he did since she always made an effort to attempt to be civil with Yoongi. Yet, they both despised each other and everyone knew it.
'I fucking hate you.' Yoongi mumbled, turning on his heel and heading to his room.
He heard Jungkook shout, 'I love you too!' and he couldn't help but smile. This kid.
Yoongi closed the door softly behind him and sat on the edge of the bed, grabbing his phone. He had a message from Hoseok and Jin.
Jinnie: I'm picking you up @ around 2ish. You're coming to the airport to pick my mum up. Don't argue with me, fucker.
So that's it. I'm doomed. Yoongi sighed again. Why tonight? Did she really have to come tonight and ruin his evening watching his roommates get drunk and act like fools?
Yoongi: At least make sure there's alcohol at this prom tonight. Otherwise I won't be able to deal with your mum's shit.
If there was no alcohol, he'd be in a shitty and pissy mood, ruining everyone else's fun. He really didn't want to do that. Deciding that he'd done enough sulking, he opened Hoseok's message.
Hope: Hey Yoongi. I can't talk today. I'm helping my sister move. I'll be busy!! Talk tonight ;)
Fantastic. Yoongi wondered if the world hated him or if he'd done something to piss someone off recently.
***
True to his word, Jin rocked up at the apartment again, a smirk on his face. The moment he stepped in through the door, Yoongi wanted to smack the fucking look off his face.
'Come on, Yoongi.' He called. Yoongi sat with his arms folded, sulking like a bratty child. He really didn't want to go. Jungkook giggled and began cleaning up the Monopoly board.
To pass the time, Yoongi had decided to play games with Jungkook. Of course, that was never a good idea since out of all four of them, Jungkook had the most competitive side and was so full on playing a game. He once wouldn't talk to anyone for nearly twelve hours because Jin won against him in Just Dance. So Yoongi had just let Jungkook win every time. The younger one caught on but didn't say anything.
After a few beats on silence, Yoongi groaned and got off the couch. 'Fine. I'll go.' He huffed and Jungkook laughed.
'Hurry up. Her plane arrives in twenty minutes and she will not be happy about us being late.' Jin tried to hurry the other boy up as quickly as possible. Yet, Yoongi was taking his sweet ass time making his way over to Jin. Jungkook rolled his eyes and Jin groaned.
'Okay I'm going.' Yoongi mumbled, quickening his pace. Jin grabbed his wrist in a tight grip and pulled him out the door without another word.
***
The car ride to the airport was silent. But then again, they always were. No matter what, Yoongi was always quiet in the car. Jin on the other hand, was softly singing along to the new cd he'd ordered the other week. His hands were tapping along to the rhythm on the steering wheel and Yoongi found it hypnotising to watch his fingers.
When they pulled up at the airport (after going through the long, unnecessary process of getting into the parking spaces), Jin glanced at the clock and cursed. A frown took over his features and Yoongi couldn't help but laugh.
'Yeah you won't be laughing when you suffer her fucking wrath.' Jin mumbled and Yoongi shrugged. He honestly didn't care. Jin's mum was going to be angry at them for being late? He honestly couldn't it in him to be angry.
'Good for her.' He snapped and Jin opened his mouth, his brain ready to fire a comeback but another glance at the clock made him think twice.
'Let's just go. We're already late enough as it is.' He grumbled, getting out of the car. Yoongi followed suit and stared at the airport in front of him.
The two of them headed in through the doors, Jin bitching under his breath about being late and Yoongi's mood began going south with each passing second. His mood wasn't the most pleasant to begin with but the more time he spent in the airport, the crankier he got.
Yoongi was never really fond of airports. He never really had a reason to go on a plane. The only time he went on a plane was when he flew from his home town to where he lived now. That was it. When he was younger, everyone fussed over going on planes and travelling but Yoongi never (and still doesn't) see the point and big deal of airplanes. And the business of the place never sat well with him either. There was just too much noise. The constant buzz of the announcements, the chatter, the rumble of planes leaving and coming. It gave him a migraine. All Yoongi could see was movement. It was like the world was in speed. The blur of bags and people. The blur of colour made his head spin.
Suddenly, Jin stopped, a hand on Yoongi's wrist and he was pulled back into somewhat of reality. Jin gave him a quizzical look. They'd stopped just before the doors to security check. Jin's phone had been ringing and buzzing for the past three minutes. Curious, Yoongi tried to peak and see who was calling him but Jin wouldn't let Yoongi see the ID. With a pout, Yoongi went back to watching everyone else. He could pick out different bits and pieces of Jin's conversation but he honestly wasn't paying attention. So when Jin tapped his shoulder gently, Yoongi let out a yelp and swore his stomach fell out of his ass.
'How fucking dazed were you? You just jumped a mile. Christ,' Jin narrowed his eyes and Yoongi shrugged, glancing around. He couldn't see Jin's mum. Sure, there were a lot of people but she wasn't hard to miss. 'Anyway, she's here. She'll be here soon.' Yoongi huffed and covered his face with his hands. A few more seconds and he'd be thrown into a week of utter hell. A week of spending time with the one person (besides Jimin) he couldn't fucking stand.
Yoongi watched through the gaps in his fingers as Jin began looking around, head whipping back and forth, trying to catch a glimpse of his arrived target. He paused towards the mass of people, a crooked smile on lips and an unreadable expression on his face.
'Jin?' Yoongi asked and his roommate wouldn't say anything. His smile got wider and he grabbed Yoongi's wrist, tugging.
'She's here. But don't look until I say. Take a few more moments of peace.' Jin mumbled out, not taking his eyes off that direction. Yeah fuck you.
'Don't tell me what to do.' Ignoring what Jin had just told him, he looked in the direction the older boy was staring in.
'Okay then. Don't say I didn't warn you.' Jin smirked and watched as Yoongi's expression went from annoyance to shock in 0.5 seconds.
Now Yoongi was 100% sure his ass had fallen out of his ass. His mouth was wide open and he couldn't focus. So many emotions were running through him and he was struggling to pinpoint one, to remember where the fuck he was. All he could focus on was the person standing at the baggage collectors. He wasn't facing them or looking at Yoongi. Everything and everyone else was a blur of colour and movement.
'Why the fuck are you still standing here?' Jin scowled and gave Yoongi a small push, snapping the younger boy out of it. Yoongi tore his gaze away, finally meeting Jin's eyes. The fucker had an amused expression and if Yoongi wasn't in so much shock, he would've socked him.
'I...' Yoongi couldn't finish his sentence and Jin rolled his eyes.
'Fucksakes. Go! Or I'll tell him to fuck off and go back home.' Jin snapped but his tone didn't hold any venom, just excitement. Finally coming to his senses, Yoongi took off running. He ran faster than he ever had in his life, a huge smile on his face and he knew his cheekbones would hurt later. His heart threatened to burst out of his chest and he was struggling to control his reaction. Right now, he wanted to cry and shout. It was too much for him.
'Hoseok!' He shouted. Upon hearing his name, Hoseok glanced around, eyes narrowed. When he caught sight of Yoongi running at full speed towards him, his eyes widened and he dropped his belongings at his feet. Suddenly, Hoseok was dashing towards Yoongi, a huge, bright grin on his face.
At that moment, everything seemed to slow down. The blur of people around him came to a stop, frozen. The distance between the two of them seemed to be too big, Hoseok was too far away. The distance between them didn't seem to be getting smaller until they were standing toe to toe, both panting.
'Holy fucking shit.' Yoongi breathed out and Hoseok nodded, wrapping his arms around his friend in a tight embrace. Yoongi couldn't stop the tears that were falling into Hoseok's shirt. He'd probably look like a mess when they eventually pull away but at this point, Yoongi didn't care. He was far too happy to care how he looked to everyone that passed the two.
'Oh my fucking god. You're real.' Hoseok whispered, clutching at Yoongi like he'd disappear if he let go. Neither of them were sure how long they were holding onto each other. It felt like an eternity to Hoseok.
'You're right in front of me.' Yoongi mumbled and the younger boy let out a strangled sound, mixed between a cry and laugh. That is the cutest sound I've ever fucking heard.
'Fucking hell that was the most emotional thing I've ever witnessed. And I saw The Lion King as a child.' Jin's voice broke through to them and it snapped Yoongi out of his trance. Slowly, he let Hoseok go but still kept a hold on to his shoulder. He was afraid that Hoseok would disappear if he let go. Yoongi refused to take his gaze off the boy in front of him. Holy shit he's so much prettier. I'm looking at an actual god. Holy fuck. Hoseok turned to look at Jin. Still, he kept a shaky hand on Yoongi. That was when Yoongi realised he too was shaking.
'Hey Jin. Nice to finally meet you.' Hoseok smiled and Jin nodded.
'Nice to see you too. Is your passenger here too?' He asked, glancing around. Confused, Yoongi glanced around before finally locking eyes with Hoseok again. Wait-
'Ah! There he is!' Jin waved at the familiar red head that made Yoongi's blood boil. So Jimin is here. Why the fuck am I not surprised. Heart sinking, he followed behind the other two as they made their way over to Jimin who had all of their luggage at their feet.
'I hope you don't mind that Jiminie's here.' Hoseok whispered. The nickname was like a punch in the gut, knocking the air right out of his lungs. Yoongi tried to not let it show that it fucking bothered him that he was. Of course not, Seokseok. I'm glad Jimin's here. Gritting his teeth, Yoongi attempted a smile that he hoped was convincing.
'Of course not.' He mumbled and the smile on Hoseok's face almost made him feel guilty. Almost.
***
While in the car, Jin explained the situation and as to how the fuck and why the fuck Jimin and Hoseok were here.
When Jin had first found out about Hoseok, he'd taken his number from Yoongi's phone and started messaging him ('that was months ago.' Yoongi had butted in and Hoseok had laughed before explaining, 'yeah. I know.'). They never became as close as Yoongi and Hoseok were, that was impossible. But they were close enough that it was easy to organise a meet-up between Hoseok and Yoongi. Of course, it was going to be as early as possible but life had happened to both of them. Whenever Jin suggested a day that Yoongi was free, Hoseok and Jimin had something planned and vice versa. Neither of the schedules matched up until now.
Once they'd both realised it could happen, Hoseok had to speak with Jimin about it. Since Hoseok had a minor fear of planes, someone had to come along. Jimin was the best option ('that explains why Jimin is here.' Yoongi mumbled out and Jimin shot him a look in the mirror).
The ride home, Hoseok and Yoongi sat in the back while Jin drove, Jimin shot gun. The two in the front kept up a quiet conversation amongst themselves. Yoongi and Hoseok said nothing though, just stared at each other and held onto each other's hands, matching grins.
It still didn't feel real. Hoseok was right beside him, hand in his and it felt so surreal. Fuck. Hoseok is right beside me. Every time he glanced over, it'd hit him again and he'd go tumbling back into shock. His eyes would go wide and Hoseok would giggle. And every time, Yoongi's heart jumped. He's gonna kill me. Hoseok is so much cuter in real life oh my god.
Jin pulled up outside of the apartment building and as he cut the engine off, a thought occurred to Yoongi.
'Wait does this mean you're here for Kookie's prom thing?' He blurted out, eyes wide. The corner of Jin's mouth quirked but he didn't say anything. His silence was enough of an answer. I could die right now and honestly, I'd have no regrets. Yoongi tried not to squeal. Instead, he just stared at Hoseok and squeezed his hands. I'm dreaming. Someone pinch me.
Once they were all out of the car, Jin unlocked the boot and went to grab a suitcase. Immediately, Jimin placed a small hand on Jin's wrist and shook his head before saying, 'let me carry it.'
'You're my guest. Let me carry one. Just one.' To emphasise his point, Jin held up one finger. Jimin rolled his eyes and stared up at the taller guy.
'No it's all good. I've got it.' Jimin argued back, grip tightening on his suitcases. Jin made a grab for one and Jimin moved away. Yoongi groaned and watched the two argue.
'Please. There's too many.' Jin spoke again and Jimin refused.
'Let's just go upstairs.' Hoseok mumbled and both of them dashed upstairs, giggling like school children. They still hadn't let go of each other, not since they got in the car.
Yoongi paused outside their apartment door and tugged Hoseok to a stop. The younger one looked at him with a quizzical look. It's taken every part of me not to fucking kiss you right now. Seriously Hoseok. I'd kiss you if it wasn't for Jimin downstairs. For once, Yoongi was glad Jimin had come. He didn't want to be a homewrecker.
'I just can't believe you're here right now,' Yoongi mumbled, looking down at his feet. He felt shy all of a sudden. 'Like I can't really believe it.' Hoseok made a noise and pulled Yoongi into a hug.
'You're such a fucking sap. I love it.' He whispered and Yoongi's cheeks heated up.
'Shut the fuck up.' He mumbled, pushing the younger one away slightly. Hoseok just laughed and waited for Yoongi to unlock the door. Both of them tumbled into the apartment. Hoseok was busy scanning the room and Yoongi cringed. He wished he'd cleaned up the apartment a little.
Unwashed dishes sat on this sink from this morning. Jin's books and papers were scattered on the table. Clean (or Yoongi guessed) clothes were laying on the floor in the lounge room and for once, he was embarrassed. Thankfully, Hoseok didn't comment (or care) so Yoongi didn't anything. The TV was playing Scooby-Doo at a low volume and he couldn't help but chuckle. Only Jungkookie.
'Who the fuck watches Scooby-Doo at,' Pausing, Hoseok glanced at his watch. 'At 3:30 in the afternoon?' Yoongi rolled his eyes and crept closer. The insane urge to 'aw' swelled up in him as he caught sight of Jungkook curled up and passed out. He must be tired if he fell asleep during Scooby-Doo.
'Shush. My roommate is asleep and it's the cutest thing I've ever seen.' Yoongi took his phone out and quickly snapped a picture.
Yoongi: He's so fucking cute. Too bad you can't see this ;)
Taebaby: I just let out the loudest shout and scared 4 customers. I have the cutest boyfriend ever.
Yoongi: Too bad you're not here rn ;)
Taebaby: Don't you have a friend???
Taebaby: Stop fucking attacking me and talk to your friend, asshole. Leave me alone.
'Which one is he?' Hoseok spoke up, pointing to Jungkook.
'That's Jungkook. He recently graduated.' Yoongi answered him and Hoseok nodded. They locked eyes and immediately, giddy smiles appeared on their faces and before Yoongi could say anything, Hoseok was hugging him again.
'I still can't believe you're right here!' He whispered loudly and Yoongi felt like his heart was about to burst from excitement.
'This is nice and all but what's sleeping arrangements?' Jimin groaned, his voice drifting into the apartment. Immediately, Yoongi's good mood deflated and he turned around, fighting to keep the bitter grimace off his face. Jimin was carrying two suitcases out of five. Jin wasn't far behind him thankfully, wheeling the other three bags in his arms. Why the fuck is Jimin carrying only two while Jin has most?
'Well, Taekook, that's the nicknames for our roommates, are gonna go stay at Taemin's for the week. Yoongi and I will take their rooms. God knows what's in there and I don't want you catching a disease or something,' Jin was cut off by a grumble. All four of them turned and found Jungkook was sitting up, bed hair in all directions. His hands were rubbing his eyes tiredly and he had a sleepy scowl on his face. He yawned and Jin raised an eyebrow.
'Our room is clean, you fucktwit. Stop insulting us. I don't really know who these two are.' Jungkook's voice was hoarse and he paused the movie, stretching. Jin scoffed.
'Anyway, you guys can take our room. Now, I've got to go pick my boyfriend and Taehyung up. See you in a few.' With a wink in Yoongi's direction (that made the younger boy blush gently), Jin dashed off, keys dangling in his hand.
Yoongi called out to Jin, 'pick up some fucking alcohol. We're all responsible, well sort of, adults! Do us a favour!' Jin didn't reply and Yoongi wasn't sure if he even heard.
'So, who are you?' Jimin asked, eyeing Jungkook sceptically while pointing. Yoongi wanted to smack him. The youngest made his way over, threading his hands through his hair. One thing he hated was how puffy and messy he looked whenever he woke up. Taehyung apparently found it cute but Jungkook just found it annoying.
'I'm Jungkook. I live here and I'm giving up my room for you.' He yawned again and Yoongi ruffled his hair. The other one slapped his hand away with a whine.
'I'm Hoseok. This is my boyfriend, Jimin.' Hoseok introduced themselves and Yoongi cringed the slightest bit at the term 'boyfriend'. Jungkook, who knew him well enough, picked up on it and patted his shoulder as if to comfort him.
'Nice to meet you. So, I take it that Hoseok is Yoongi's friend?' With a nod in confirmation, Hoseok winked at Yoongi. Yeah I'm not gonna survive this next week.
***
Taemin rolled up at the apartment at 5:30pm. He was already slightly tipsy but he had his speaker so Jungkook didn't care.
'What's up fuckers? I had a few drinks before I got here but aye. I've also got more alcohol in my apartment if Jin decides that he wants to be responsible and didn't buy enough.' He shouted and slammed the door behind him, a huge grin on his face. No one came out to greet him apart from Jimin who was sitting on the couch. He turned around with a bewildered look on his face. The official dance/prom didn't begin until six so everyone was still getting ready apart from him.
Taemin came over and sat down beside Jimin and not-so-subtle checked him out before humming in pleasure.
'You're extremely attractive. I see why Hoseok would go for you.' He smirked and Jimin just shifted uncomfortably in his seat. He already didn't like this guy. The guy clearly had no boundaries. Jimin prayed someone would save him. And as if someone heard him, both Hoseok and Yoongi appeared, still fixing ties and cufflinks.
Yoongi couldn't take his eyes off his friend. He looked so fucking good in a suit and the picture Hoseok had sent him months ago didn't do justice.
He wore a simple suit with a black bowtie but his hair was gelled and parted down the middle, showing off his forehead. Yoongi couldn't breathe properly and it took all of him to keep walking and do simple tasks.
The two of the paused in the doorway, Hoseok staring at Taemin questioningly and Yoongi was three seconds away from face palming.
'This is Taemin. He owns the dance studio where this prom is being held. He's also loud and well, a flirt when drunk and tipsy. Just ignore him, Jimin.' Yoongi gave a brief introduction and Taemin nodded. Jimin jumped up and away from Taemin anyway, walking over to his boyfriend. Yoongi didn't have the strength in him to watch them kiss. Instead, he jogged to Tae's room and banged on the door.
'Hurry the fuck up. It's already 5:46. You're gonna miss your prom.' He shouted and Taehyung grumbled out an incoherent response. A few moments later, the door swung open and the next thing Yoongi knew, he was being pulled into the room by his collar.
'So, what's gonna happen with you and Hoseok?' Jungkook immediately pounced on Yoongi. Groaning, the older boy shrugged.
'I don't fucking know. He's got a boyfriend.'
'So?' Jungkook finished tying up his tie and turned to Yoongi, his eyebrow raised. Yoongi scoffed and groaned.
'I'm not gonna become a homewrecker. Especially not to Hoseok. He doesn't deserve that.' At that exact moment, someone knocked on the door and Hoseok stuck his head in. A nervous, uncertain expression was written all over his face. Yoongi felt his heart leap in his chest and he smiled.
'There's two other kids here and Taemin's being weird. Can we head down? It's almost six.' He questioned and Jungkook nodded.
'Of course,' he turned to Yoongi. 'We'll talk about this later. Don't try and get out of it.' With a jab at Yoongi's chest, he left the room, Taehyung in his wake. Hoseok let them pass before he stepped into the room.
'Do I want to know?'
'Probably not. You look lovely, Seokseok.' Hoseok closed his eyes and hummed.
'I'm never gonna get used to how your voice sounds. It's so soft and pretty. Plus my nickname rolling off your tongue is the best thing in the world.' If Yoongi's heart wasn't beating so loud in his chest, he would've picked up on the tone of Hoseok's words.
'Oi! Let's go!' Jin shouted and thundering footsteps ran past the room. With a small giggle from both of them, they followed Jin to the kitchen.
'I feel so odd being the only girl in this group. But, I'll make sacrifices for my Kookie here.' Chaeyoung was saying as the two of them joined the others. Whistling, Yoongi noticed that everyone had dressed up for this occasion.
Jungkook and Tae were wearing their prom suits they wore the other night. This time though, their hair wasn't gelled down. Chaeyoung wore a pretty white dress with a lacy skirt. Instead of heels, flats adorned her feet. Yugyeom wore a simple blue tux. Namjoon just wore a button down and slacks but Yoongi guessed they were new due to the faint creases in the fabric. Jin wore his fancy suit he'd only worn once (which was to a wedding months ago). Jimin had a similar outfit to Namjoon's but with a tie. Taemin had a vest over a simple white shirt and dark grey slacks. And Hoseok wore the outfit from the photo Yoongi had.
'Holy shit. This is the first time I've ever seen you all dressed up.' Jin teased earning a slap from Jungkook. Yoongi noticed Jimin standing awkwardly to the side of the group and the tense energy from both him and Hoseok.
'Right let's just get going. We'll miss the party. Jin, carry the alcohol. All of it or I'll kick your ass. Tae, search Other Tae for the keys to the dance room and carry the speakers down. I'll carry the fancy lights. Everyone else, grab what you need and let's go!' Yoongi ordered and Taehyung fake saluted him, crinkling his nose. He didn't want to put his hands on Taemin while the older boy was drunk.
***
It was nearly eight and Yoongi had only had two drinks. He'd made a big show about drinking but now, he felt too ill to drink anything. He'd been nursing the same bottle for the last half an hour while he sat against the cold mirror, watching everyone.
By now, everyone apart from him and Jin (although Yoongi suspected he was a bit tipsy) was drunk or at least half way to it. Yoongi had to admit it was amusing watching them dance to girl groups.
The only reason he wasn't dancing was because he didn't feel like it. He was (well, he liked to lie to himself) content with watching the couples dance with each other. The only person who wasn't dancing with someone was Taemin but he went around and danced with everyone anyway, whether they wanted him too or not. It was quite amusing actually. They'd protest for five seconds before giving in because Taemin was stubborn and wasn't going to give up.
Yoongi stretched his legs out in front of him and kept his eyes trained on Hoseok. He was drunk or Yoongi suspected he was. He was an utter mess. His tie had come lose and his hair was fluffy. Not that Yoongi minded. It was cute.
The only problem was, he was dancing with Jimin. It made sense since they were dating but Yoongi couldn't help the reel of jealously that was unwinding inside of him. He wanted to have one dance with Hoseok. Yet, he was too shy to get up and ask. Besides, he was sure Jimin would bite his head off.
'Oh my god!' Suddenly the shouting of Jungkook's slurred words snapped Yoongi out of his daydream and raised his eyebrow in the youngest boy's direction. 'Everyone knows this song. Get in line. We're dancing to it!'
And Yoongi watched as his drunk friends managed to get themselves in a somewhat straight line in preparation to dance. It was a song Yoongi didn't recognise but by the way Jungkook had acted, he guessed it was a song everyone should know the dance too. The moment the chorus kicked in, everyone started dancing and Yoongi started laughing. He grabbed his phone out and turned it to video. This will be good blackmail material. It was an utter mess of arms and legs and too much laughter that was infectious.
Jin was a terrible dancer when he was sober. But when he was drunk? He was all flailing arms and uncooperative limbs and it was an utter disaster. Namjoon was much the same. He kept grabbing onto Yugyeom and stumbled due to the amount of alcohol in his system. Taemin, Jungkook and Jimin were surprisingly good in their intoxicated state. They danced the almost perfectly, minus their sloppy footwork and lazy arms. Yugyeom and Chaeyoung were doing quite well too. They weren't as energetic as the others but they were still into it. Yet, everyone had huge grins on their faces and the laughter that filled the practise room was louder than the actual music. Yoongi found himself grinning and laughing along as well.
Yoongi felt a pair of eyes on him and he scanned the dance line until his eyes met Hoseok's. Immediately, his mouth went dry, the smile dropping off his face and laughter dying down in his throat. The dance wasn't overly sexual yet the way Hoseok was dancing it, he made it feel like a sexy dance. He was fluid which gave Yoongi the impression that Hoseok wasn't as drunk as he led everyone else to believe and the older one found it very hard to breathe suddenly. And the hooded look and knowing smirk on Hoseok's face wasn't helping. The way he moved his hips. He knew exactly what he was doing and the effect it was having.
He couldn't take his eyes off Hoseok and he couldn't focus on anything else, not even Namjoon's flailing attempt. Everything else faded until all his attention was on the younger one dancing in front of him. Suddenly, Yoongi felt like he was too sober to deal with this. Fucker. He's gonna kill me.Downing the rest of his beer, Yoongi went and grabbed another. He raised it to his lips with his eyebrow arched at Hoseok. The other's smirk deepened and he kept dancing. Neither of them broke eye contact until the song was over. It felt like an eternity until the song ended and the loud noises that Two Taes and Jimin were making broke them out of the spell. Hoseok winked before turning back to the others and started shouting as well. He grabbed onto Jimin and pretended that he and Yoongi hadn't basically just been eye-fucking each other from across the room.
And all Yoongi could do was stand near the mini cooler, frozen. Holy shit. What the fuck was that.
