* Chapter Eleven

They were supposed to be getting ready but instead, Taehyung had grabbed Jungkook and pulled him onto the bed, kissing him softly. Jungkook was surprised at first. He wasn't expecting Tae to kiss him but eventually he kissed his boyfriend back, tangling his fingers in Tae's hair.

The one thing Taehyung couldn't believe was the fact that he had Jungkook in his arms right now. He couldn't believe that every night, he got to come home and hug him and kiss the boy in front of him. He couldn't believe that the boy in front of him was sitting right here, looking at him with a huge bunny grin on his face. Taehyung considered himself to be the luckiest man in the world.

'Do you really want to go to this dance?' Tae mumbled, kissing down Jungkook's neck before sucking and biting at the one spot of skin on his neck that always manages to make Jungkook weak. Jungkook gasped, eyes closing. As much as Jungkook wanted to stay home, he really should be getting ready to go to his final dance of high school. If he missed this, he knew that he'd kick himself five years down the track.

'Yes. I do.' He stuttered and half-heartedly pushed Tae away, wanting him to stop so he could clear his head and get back on track. At the same time, he didn't want Tae to stop. Thankfully, Tae got the message and sat up straighter, finger tracing the light marking on his boyfriends pale neck. Jungkook winced when Taehyung applied pressure to the hickey.

'I don't want to go. I want to spend the night with you.' Taehyung mumbled and shifted so his legs were crossed in front of him. Jungkook grabbed his hands, rubbing his thumb across Taehyung's knuckles.

'I know. But Tae, I want to dance with you. We can have one dance then we can go, okay?' Jungkook bargained and Taehyung nodded, kissing his boyfriend's forehead. The signature bunny smile appeared on Jungkook's face and Taehyung's heart picked up pace. No matter how many times he saw Jungkook smile, it always managed to make his heart beat faster. No matter what, he always loved seeing it and he would never get tired of it.

'Deal,' at that moment they heard the front door slam shut and Taehyung knew that Yoongi had returned. 'We've got to get ready now.' He whined, flopping back onto the bed. Jungkook giggled and kissed his boyfriend. Taehyung pulled him closer, flat against his chest and traced circles on Jungkook's back.

'I love you.' Jungkook murmured pulling way. Taehyung huffed and Jungkook climbed off the bed and grabbed the bag that held his tux and shoes. Taehyung watched as Jungkook headed to the bathroom, closing the door behind him.

Deciding that his boyfriend would kick his ass if he wasn't ready, Taehyung climbed off the bed and staggered over to the closet, opening it and pulling out his own sparkly tux. He could hear the soft sound of voices from the other three. Quickly stripping, he got changed into his suit and stood in front of the mirror, playing with his hair. He had to admit, he looked good. But did Jungkook think so? Nervously Tae glanced at the door and suddenly doubted himself. What if the suit was over the top and Jungkook hated it? Doing up the buttons on his shirt, he made sure everything was good and flattened before opening the door, heading towards his boyfriend.

'Oh holy shit Taehyung.' Jungkook gasped, turning to stare at his boyfriend who was now approaching him nervously. Taehyung smiled and Jungkook couldn't stop staring. He was officially the prettiest boy Jungkook had ever seen and he swore he wouldn't forget the way he looked in this suit. Jungkook looked him up and down and Tae did the same, subtly licking his lips.

The trousers Jungkook were wearing made his legs look so fucking good Tae was sure he was about to pass out. His jacket was done up and sat just right on his shoulders. He looked like a prince. Taehyung wanted to savour this moment and look forever because he was sure Jungkook had never looked as beautiful as he did right now.

You look like a disaster.' Jin said bluntly, folding his arms. He was trying so hard not to laugh. Tae glanced down at his shirt and for once, he didn't really care what Jin said. Everything that had happened the past few days felt like a lifetime ago as he held onto Jungkook's hands. He couldn't stop staring at Jungkook either. A huge smile was permanently plastered to his face and he was sure that his cheeks and jaw would hurt tomorrow morning. Jungkook had a matching smile. I hope I feel the same why I do right now on my wedding day. Taehyung thought to himself, glancing down at Jungkook's left hand. The bare spot on Jungkook's ring finger made Tae smile. One day, that would no longer be empty. One day, he'd have a matching ring.

'Hoseok says you both look lovely.' Yoongi mumbled. Taehyung glanced over at Yoongi and grinned. Jungkook planted a kiss to his cheek and tugged his hand, nodding towards the door softly. With a nod, Taehyung started running towards the door, pulling Jungkook along. Both of them were giddy with excitement and Tae felt like a fourteen year old boy going on his first date.

'Okay we should get going before we're late. Bye!' Jungkook shouted, squeezing his boyfriend's hand. They stood outside the door for a split second, just staring at each other. Yoongi shouted something about being safe and responsible but Taehyung didn't exactly catch it, too busy staring at his the beautiful angel standing right in front of him.

'No promises.' He shouted back for good measure. Jungkook giggled and pulled him along, running down the hallway.

'We're getting picked up by Chaeyoung.' He mumbled, pausing below the last step. Turning to face Taehyung, he couldn't stop the huge grin on his face. Slowly, Jungkook's hands came to rest on the side of his boyfriend's neck and he kissed him, soft and unhurriedly. Taehyung immediately wrapped his arms around Jungkook's waist, pulling him closer. He was sure Jungkook could feel his heart beating hard in his chest. It was loud to his own ears.

'I love you.' He mumbled against the younger's lips, a tiny smile gracing his own.

'I love you too. Now let's go. Chaeyoung isn't the most patient woman on the earth.' Jungkook broke out of Tae's grasp and walked out the door. He spotted Chaeyoung's car and dashed over, pulling Taehyung with him. They climbed in the backseat, grinning at the girl in the front.

'What took you guys so long?' Chaeyoung asked, turning around. Jungkook shrugged and nodded at Yugyeom who was seated in shotgun. Tae felt awkward sitting with Jungkook's high school friends. He didn't know Chaeyoung or Yugyeom. He knew of them from Jungkook's stories but had never actually met them. Thankfully though, neither Chaeyoung nor Yugyeom cared.

'So this is the boyfriend we keep hearing about?' Chae asked, raising an eyebrow. Jungkook nodded, taking Tae's hand and squeezing it reassuringly.

'Yes.'

'He's hot.' She said and turned around, starting the car. Tae choked on spit while Jungkook smirked.

'See? Told you.' He whispered in Tae's ear and Taehyung could feel a faint blush creeping up his neck and onto his cheeks. Not saying a word, Jungkook turned to look out the window. Taehyung on the other hand, just stared at the wonder sitting next to him.

Jungkook really did look beautiful tonight. Sure, he looked beautiful at every moment, even when he was sick and wearing ugly shirts that had holes riddled through them. But tonight, Taehyung was convinced Jungkook had been replaced by an angel. The fading light from the sunset settled across Jungkook's face, giving him softened features.

With a small grin, Tae leaned into Jungkook and kissed his cheek.

'You look so beautiful tonight. I fucking love you.' He whispered and Jungkook smiled, squeezing Tae's hand in return.

When they arrived at the school, no one was surprised to find it already half packed with students in fancy dresses and tuxes. Chaeyoung couldn't find a park however so they had to walk a fair distance, parking down the street.

As they got out of the car Yugyeom stopped Jungkook and glanced at his wrist.

'Why the ever loving fuck are you wearing a corsage?' He questioned and Jungkook shrugged. Chaeyoung rolled her eyes and grabbed onto Yugyeom's arm, pulling him towards.

'Please do not attack Jeon. We're here to have fun. I didn't pay to see you two bark at each other's throats. Now, let's go!' She exclaimed and Yugyeom just followed along. After living with Chae for years, you learn not to argue with her. Jungkook waited until they were ahead a fair distance before he started walking, Taehyung right by his side.

Both of them walked in silence, their hands hanging limp at their sides. Jungkook was too nervous to say anything. No one besides Chaeyoung and Yugyeom knew about his boyfriend and tonight would be the first time they'd see him and know that Jungkook was gay. Panic and doubt filled him, threatening to choke him. The gravel crunching under his feet did very little to calm him down. The person beside him wasn't helping.

Ever since the incident with his parents, he'd been so afraid of coming out to anyone. His own parents had disowned him and abused him. The very people who were supposed to love and cherish him, no matter what happened. Yet, when he should've had their support the most, all he got was a door slammed in his face and many cuts and scars on his body.

'Mum, dad. Can you please take a seat?' Fifteen year old Jungkook asked nervously, wringing his hands. His parents nodded slowly and took a seat in front of their son.

'Yeah sure. What's up Jeon?' His dad asked, placing his hand on his wife's thigh. Both of his parents stared at Jungkook with worry and confusion. Why was their son so nervous right now? What has happening?

'I have something to tell you.' Jeon mumbled. He felt like he was about to cry, throw up or faint. Whichever came first. He couldn't believe he was about to tell them about his boyfriend.

'Okay. Darling, take a deep breath. We'll love you no matter what. Remember that, okay?' His mum tried to soothe him and her words sort of helped. They'll always love me. They can't hate me.

'Well,' Jungkook took a deep breath and closed his eyes for a split second before opening them again. He stared at his parents. 'Well, there's this boy I've been seeing for a few months. His name is Kim Taehyung. He's a lovely boy, really. You'll like him once you meet him tomorrow. And well, we've been dating for a few months. What I'm really trying to say is that I'm gay and I'd like you to meet my boyfriend.' Jungkook babbled and he missed the way his father's expression hardened with every word that came out of Jungkook's mouth. He missed the way his fist clenched tightly and the way his jaw ticked. He missed the way a horrified expression came across his mother's face and the way her hands flew to her mouth. It wasn't until he was done speaking that he noticed it and every part of him shattered. They stared at Jungkook like he was an alien, like he was a stranger to them. Like they hadn't spent the past fifteen years raising him to be who he was.

'I'm sorry. What did you say?' Jungkook's mother asked quietly, looking down at her lap. Jungkook frowned, scratching the back of his neck. Hadn't he been clear enough?

'I'm gay, mum.' He tried again and his dad stood, staring at his son with a disgusted expression.

'I know. We heard.' She whispered, head in her hands. She refused to believe what she was hearing right now. Her youngest boy was gay? How? It didn't make sense.

'I want you to get out of my house.' Jungkook's dad hissed, slapping his own son across the face. Immediately, Jungkook's hand came to his sore cheek, the clogs in his brain turning over. He had no idea what was going on? Hadn't his mum told him they'd love him no matter what?

'You aren't my son!' His dad shouted, turning to stare at Jungkook, pure fury evident on his face. Jungkook was still confused but everything was slowly making sense and tears welled up. It wasn't until his dad started throwing things at him that he moved from his spot, running out of the house with tears streaming down his cheeks. He passed his older brother who just stared at Jungkook.

'Baby?' Tae's voice snapped him out of his daydream and Jungkook looked up. Tae's hands were planted on his boyfriend's shoulders. They'd stopped some time ago and were no standing outside of the hall.

'What?' Jungkook stuttered and that's when he realised his cheeks were wet with tears. Tae's fingers slowly wiped at the tears.

'You started crying. Are you okay?' Tae asked quietly and Jungkook's lip quivered.

'I...' He couldn't speak and instead just burst into tears. Taehyung pulled Jungkook into a tight hug, rubbing his back and placing kisses to the top of his head.

'It's okay.' He kept repeating over and over again like a mantra. And Jungkook wanted to believe it so badly. To believe that he was okay. That everything was fine. Yet he knew it wasn't. Everything was still falling apart underneath him.

Tae led Jungkook over to the bench outside the hall and sat down, pulling his crying boyfriend down as well to sit in his lap. Jungkook clutched at Tae's shirt, crying into the scratchy material of his boyfriend's jacket. Neither said a word. Tae just rubbed Jungkook's back and hugged him close, trying to offer as much support as possible without saying anything. Jungkook didn't need words right now. He just needed someone to hold him

'What happened?' He asked quietly once Jungkook's crying had subsided a little and all he was doing was whimpering and hiccupping. A few stray tears still fell from his eyes.

'I'm scared, Tae. I can't go in there. I'm so fucking terrified.' Jungkook looked up at his boyfriend and sniffled. Traces of faintly concealed anxiety and terror were evident on Jungkook's face, despite trying to hide them.

'Why?' Taehyung asked gently and Jungkook looked down.

'I'm scared they're going to reject me. Like them. I'm so fucking terrified.' Jungkook's voice cracked and Taehyung's already shattered heart disintegrated completely after hearing the fragile tone and words from Jungkook. This was all about his parents. His rejection three years still hurt him and that made Taehyung's blood boil.

'We don't have to go if you don't want. We can go to a park or something and just dance to our music.' Tae offered and Jungkook shook his head.

'I want to go in there and face my fears. I want to slow dance with you at a high school dance. I want to kiss you in front of everyone. I want everyone to know that you're my boyfriend and that I'm so proud to call you my boyfriend.' Jungkook mumbled, sniffling again.

'Baby, it's okay.' Taehyung whispered but Jungkook was stubborn.

'No it isn't! It's not okay. I want to prove to them. I want to be able to walk in there and be proud of us. I can't do that. I feel so fucking weak.' Jungkook's voice cracked again and a fresh wave of tears came and Taehyung kissed his forehead.

'You aren't weak. Let's go, okay? This isn't good for you.' Tae stood up and helped Jungkook to his feet. He crouched down and Jungkook took the hint and climbed onto his boyfriend's back. Wrapping his arms around Tae's neck, he rested his head on Tae's shoulder, the sequins biting into his skin.

Taehyung wasn't sure where he was going exactly. He just wanted to get as far away from the school as possible for Jungkook's sake. He just walked in a direction. It was dark and he really had no idea where he was but he didn't care, just held onto Jungkook tightly, trying to reassure him that everything really was okay.

Jungkook gently slapped Tae's shoulder and pointed at a kid's park. Setting Jungkook down, he peeled off his jacket and untucked his shirt. Jungkook untied his tie and took his shirt out from his trousers. He left his jacket on.

Jungkook didn't say anything just walked over to the swing set, dropping his tie somewhere on the floor. Taehyung followed behind and sat down on one of the swings beside his boyfriend. Throwing his jacket onto the sand, he kicked his legs and grabbed Jungkook's hand. Neither said a word, just gently swung in utter silence. Tae wasn't sure how long it was before Jungkook broke the silence with a hiccup.

'I feel like I've disappointed you.' Jungkook said, avoiding his boyfriend's gaze.

'You haven't. I promise you, Jeon Jungkook, that you could never disappoint me. Not unless you ate my last cupcake.' Taehyung tried for a joke and Jungkook cracked a little smile in response. Progress. Tae thought to himself.

'I'm just so angry. I can't even go to my final high school dance because of the shit they did to me three years ago.' Jungkook hissed. The hand that was holding onto the chain tightened briefly before going slack again. Tae stayed quiet, not really knowing what to say. He just let his boyfriend rant and get it out of his system. Who knew how long he'd been holding this in. Three years. He's been feeling this way for three years and you didn't seem to notice. Taehyung hated himself.

'I can't fucking believe it's been three years and it's still hurting me. It shouldn't be! They're no longer in my life yet, they still control me and haunt me. Tae I can't keep doing this anymore. I can't even live my own life.' Jungkook crouched over in his seat and his arms came to wrap around his stomach. More tears slipped down his cheeks and Tae could feel his own threatening to spill. He jumped off his swing and went over to Jungkook's hugging him from behind. His cheek rested on Jungkook's spine and he could feel every movement and hiccup that Jungkook's body produced and every sound and sob was loud in Tae's ear. Everything hurt.

'I want to fucking hurt them like they did me. I shouldn't be getting scared over this.' Jungkook stuttered and Tae's own tears fell. It seriously hurt hearing how torn up and upset Jungkook was. How raw his pain was.

'What do you want to do?' He asked quietly.

'I don't know. I just want the pain to stop. I can't keep dealing with it. Tonight has been the first night in so fucking long that I've actually dwelled on what happened at that house.'

'How about we go home and talk about this with Yoongi. He'll know what to do.' Tae whispered, kissing Jungkook's spine.

'I don't know. Can you please just hold me, Taehyung? That's all I want right now. I just want to feel safe.' Taehyung let Jungkook go and sat on the other swing, patting his lap. On wobbly legs, Jungkook got off his swing and went to go and sit on Tae's thighs. His head fell onto Tae's shoulders and his hands held onto the chain. The older boy's hands held onto Jungkook's waist tightly, face buried in Jungkook's neck. He peppered light kisses over Jungkook's shoulders.

'I love you so much. I'm so proud of you.' Was all he whispered and Jungkook couldn't stop crying. Everything was falling apart. The façade he'd built around that memory had now tumbled down, leaving his wounds open for the world to see. Everything was crumbling and he needed help to pick up the pieces. As much as he wanted Taehyung to help, Jungkook knew it wasn't going to be enough this time. Not anymore.

'I think,' He began, taking a deep breath. 'I think I might need to start seeing someone.' Tae kissed his shoulders again.

'Whatever you plan to do, I'll always be right beside you, cheering you on and helping you get through it.' Tae murmured as a fresh wave of tears fell from Jungkook's eyes. As much as he hated himself for being so weak, this felt good.

'You mean that?'

'Of course I do. I love you. Battle wounds and all.' Tae intertwined his fingers with Jungkook's and kissed him softly.
