* Chapter Eighteen

Hope: I can't believe you had to go back to work. I'm only here for another day :(. I leave tomorrow.

Yoongi: I know. I'm annoyed. Blame my boss for this.

Hope: :( :( :(

'Stop texting your boyfriend and help me, fucker. You only have another few hours at work.' Mina chastised Yoongi, a small teasing grin on her face. She briefly fixed her hat before going back to kneading the pizza dough in her hands. Her hands were smaller and nicer than his, steadier. Yoongi felt his face heat up and he slipped his phone back into his pocket.

It wasn't Yoongi's idea to come to work today. He was supposed to have the next few days off to 'plan his wedding' and wasn't supposed to be back until after Hoseok left. Unfortunately, Jonghyun was short on staff as most of his employees were 'sick'. Of course, Yoongi had a feeling it was bullshit. When Mina texted him, 'come in to work. We need to talk. Well, Jong needs to talk to you.' Yoongi grudgingly came into work, much to Hoseok and Jin's protests.

There weren't many employees in so Jonghyun wasn't lying. There was probably only a handful, much less than a usual shift. Yoongi didn't really know any of their names (no point, really) and the only one he recognised was Minho.

'He's not my boyfriend. He's just a friend.' Mina snorted.

'Uh huh. And Momo is my best friend. Let's face it, you're so far up his ass.' Mina argued and Yoongi smirked.

'I wish I was up his ass.' He mumbled under his breath. He didn't expect Mina to hear it but the way she started gagging and slamming her hands onto the dough, she'd heard him.

'Too much information. Just because we're both in relationships, doesn't mean I want to hear about your sex life. Ew.' She scrunched her face up, causing Yoongi to laugh.

'Same with you. Don't tell me about Momo.' He retorted and she stopped, turning to face him.

'I didn't say anything,' she said. 'I didn't peg you for a bottom either.' Yoongi scoffed at that.

'Me, a top? Really Mina? You obviously don't know me.' Both of them started giggling, Mina's hands covering her mouth. They got a few strange looks from neighbouring employees but neither one of them cared.

She glanced past his shoulder, eyes widening. When she spoke, her voice was hushed, almost a whisper. 'Don't look. Turn back to your work. Boss is coming.'

And as if Jonghyun knew he was being spoken about between the two of them, his booming voice reached Yoongi's ears. 'Long time no see Yoongi. How's the wedding planning?' And it may have just been Yoongi's mind, fucking with him but Jonghyun's voice didn't sound all that pleasant. Just like that, guilt slowly made its way up Yoongi's throat, threatening to choke him. He'd forgotten about the lie up until now. Slowly, Yoongi turned to face Jonghyun, a smile on his face. Sweat had started to gather at his hairline and his whole body was flush. I hope my face isn't bright red. Knowing my luck though, it will be.

'Hey, Jonghyun. The wedding planning's going okay.' He lied, wishing the ground would swallow him up whole.

'That's good to hear. Glad to see you back at work.' Jonghyun turned to leave but paused, eyes narrowed.

'Anything wrong, sir?' Yoongi tried to keep his voice steady. He grabbed the table top to hide his shaking hands. Why am I shaking so much? He doesn't suspect anything!

'Where's your ring?' Jonghyun titled his head, eyes locked on Yoongi's bare neck. Fuck. I forgot to put it on this morning.

'I guess I forgot to put it back on after my shower this morning.' Sweating, he tried to calm down. How flushed was his skin? Jonghyun didn't seem to really buy it. His eyes narrowed even more, turning into narrow slits and Yoongi could pick up on the suspicion and disbelief rolling off him.

'Okay. Fair enough.' His boss mumbled slowly and turned away from them before walking away. Once he was out of sight, Yoongi let out a huge breath and Mina patted him on the back.

'Shit man.' Was all she said and Yoongi nodded, knowing exactly what she was saying. His heartrate slowed down again and his skin still felt too hot. Am I flushed? He tried to catch his reflection in the pizza cutter in Minho's hands but his reflection was distorted and he couldn't see shit.

'Fuck. That was so close.' Yoongi could help but feel guilty for lying to his boss. Jonghyun didn't deserve this type of treatment. Especially when he was willingly letting Yoongi have days off to 'plan' his fake wedding.

'Where is the ring?' Mina asked.

'Jin has it. He's taken it back. He thinks I've told Jonghyun the truth I think. I've got to tell him.' Yoongi mumbled, turning back to his pizza dough.

'Yeah. That might be smart.' Mina turned back to making her pizza and that was the end of the conversation for now. Sweat was still dripping down Yoongi's skin, shirt sticking to his back. All he could hear was white noise now. I need to tell him. His phone vibrated in his pocket.

Hope: When you get off work, can we go to your hill place? It looks beautiful.

Yoongi: ofc. I get off in like an hour or so. I'll come pick you up. Gotta get changed first tho.

Hope: It's a date. :)

Oh my god. Oh my god. It doesn't mean that. He's got a boyfriend. Yet, he couldn't help getting his hopes up. Yoongi must have been staring at Hoseok's text a little too long as Mina bumped him, an eyebrow raised. Cheeks a bright pink, he showed her.

'You're so whipped.' She made the cracking whip action, complete with the sound.

'We aren't friends anymore.' Yoongi stated and Mina giggled again. Both of them turned back to the pizza dough.

***

Jin was the only roommate home when Yoongi finished work. He was lounging on the couch. Even though they were blocked from Yoongi's view he guessed Jin was curled up into Namjoon. Some movie that Yoongi didn't really know was playing on their TV and the two seemed to be watching it. He could pick up on their faint whispering and giggling over the movie. They look so domestic like this.

The moment Yoongi slammed the door shut behind him, Jin's head popped up, and a surprised look on his face.

'Hey, Yoongi!' Namjoon called, not taking his eyes off the screen. Yoongi waved in greeting to Namjoon, pulling out his phone.

Yoongi: Where are you Seokseok??

'Two Taes took your boyfriend and Jimin down to the dance studio. Good luck pulling him away from the studio though.' Jin told him, turning back to the screen. Yoongi felt his cheeks heat up at him calling Hoseok 'boyfriend'. I wish.

'Okay cool. Thank you,' Yoongi headed to his room but paused, turning back to the men on the couch. 'Oh and for the sake of me, the only single roommate, don't fuck on that couch.' Yoongi shivered in disgust. Walking to his room, he heard Namjoon splutter and cough while Jin shouted profanities at him. A small smile crossed his lips.

Yoongi closed his bedroom door behind him and stripped out of his work uniforms. He grabbed the pair of jeans from behind the door and the first shirt he found in his draws. His reflection caught the corner of his eye and his nose wrinkled in slight disgust. His hair was a mess. Majority of the hair dye had finally made its way out but the regrowth of his roots was yuck. The mint ends of his hair were pale compared to the light brown of the rest of his hair.

Thankfully, the vibration of his phone from his pocket distracted him from nit-picking at his reflection any further.

Hope: Coming up now !! Tae had dragged me down to the dance studio to pass time.

Hope: Jk is so good omg. He taught me some new dance and I'm in love.

Hope: Meet you outside the apartment????

Yoongi: Ofc. See you in a few

Hope: ;)

Calm the fuck down, Yoongi. How many times do I have to remind you that Hoseok is taken and happy with Jimin? Too many times for it to be healthy or helpful.

So Yoongi made his way to the door again, waving at Jin and Namjoon snuggled up together. The sight tugged at the corners of Yoongi's mouth.

True to his word, Hoseok was standing outside the door, hands shoved into his pockets. The simple long sleeved shirt he wore hugged his body nicely. Hoseok was bouncing on his feet, hair jumping with every movement and Yoongi noted that he was gnawing on his lip. Is he okay? He hadn't seemed to notice Yoongi's approach, not even looking up when the door slammed shut softly.

'Hey, Seokseok.' Yoongi touched Hoseok's arm gently, the younger male yelping in surprise. Immediately, the older male started laughing, causing a chain reaction for Hoseok to laugh.

'Hey, Yoongi. Sorry. Lost in thought.' He mumbled and started rubbing his neck nervously. Taking the opportunity to entwine their hands together, Yoongi just smiled.

'It's fine. Ready to go?' With a nod of approval, the two of them left the apartment building.

It was only five or so, Yoongi wasn't sure. A pleasant, somewhat cool breeze was blowing gently and it was nice. Walking beside Hoseok, hand in hand with the sun just beginning to make it's descend into horizon, Yoongi could almost kid himself into thinking both of them were on a date. If the constant plague of Jimin left me the fuck alone, I could actually think this was a date. Bitter, Yoongi tried to push the thought of the younger male away.

Neither one of them said a word, Yoongi was too busy staring at Hoseok while the younger male was lost in thought. He'd tugged his lip between his teeth again and now his eyebrows were creased in concentration. Or maybe it was confusion. Yoongi really had no idea but it was cute.

'Why are you staring at me?' Hoseok eventually spoke up. Because you're so stunning and beautiful. I really want to kiss you.

Instead, Yoongi replied with, 'I don't know. Why do you look like that?' And the way Hoseok's frown deepened, Yoongi felt ice run up his blood, freezing him up. Shit. I didn't mean it like that.

'Why do I look like what?' Hoseok mumbled.

'I don't mean it like that. You just look confused and deep in thought. I just wanted to know why. I should've phrased that better. Sorry Seokseok.' Hoseok smiled, pulling the other male into a weird side hug.

'It's fine. How far away are we from your hill thing?' He asked and Yoongi tugged him along.

'Just past my work. Come on! Hurry.' Both of them took off running. Despite Hoseok being faster, their hands still stayed intertwined. Giggles were leaving Hoseok's mouth while Yoongi's signature gummy smile was present.

Mina was just finishing her shift when the two of them dashed passed like children. She hadn't noticed them, too busy talking to someone on her phone. Immediately, Yoongi slowed down, halting the younger male in his tracks. He glanced around quizzically.

'This isn't your hill...' He asked, frowning again. Oh my god. You're so fucking cute. I want to kiss you.

'I know. I want you to meet my workmate, Mina. She's sort of my only friend at work,' Yoongi tiptoed up behind her, shouting in her ear while grabbing her shoulders. Mina let out a scream and she turned around, hand coming into contact with Yoongi's ribs. He let her go and bent over. It didn't hurt he was more or less in shock that she'd whacked him.

'Fucking hell, Yoongi. What the fuck.' She hissed but she was grinning.

'Sorry. Thought it would be fun.' And he was well aware of Hoseok standing awkwardly behind him. Mina was too if the slight shift of her eyes in his direction was a giveaway.

'Well, it wasn't. Who's this?' She asked, pointing to Hoseok.

'That, is the infamous Jung Hoseok. Seokseok, this is Mina. Mina, this is Hoseok.' He introduced them and Mina grinned. She stuck her hand out and Hoseok took it, hesitant.

'I've heard a lot of things about you, Hoseok. I must say, you're even prettier in real life. Yoongi's lucky to have you,' Yoongi could sense that she was about to say something embarrassing so he clamped a hand on her shoulder in warning. She winced but didn't say anything else.

'I've heard only one thing about you. You're Yoongi's workmate.' Hoseok said and he smiled at her.

'Okay let's get going. We've got to get back home before six or so. Come on, Seokseok.' Yoongi began pulling Hoseok away by the arm, pleading. Please, let's just go. Mina's gonna embarrass me and you're gonna hate me.

'Where the fuck are you going this late at night?' Mina asked, sounding like either Jin or his mum.

'The hill. Now please just let us go.' Yoongi was borderline begging and he would've been embarrassed if it wasn't for Hoseok's laugh.

'Right. Later then. I've got to get home to my girlfriend.' With that, Mina waved and climbed in her car. Sighing in relief, Yoongi starting stumbling to the hill again with Hoseok in tow.

'She seems nice. Can we see her again?' Hoseok asked.

'Sure. But in warning, she was gonna say something embarrassing back there. Oh, we're here.' Yoongi pointed to the small gate that opened up onto the climb.

'We have to climb that?' Hoseok glanced between the gate and Yoongi, eyebrow raised.

'Come on. If I do it most days, so can you.' Yoongi encouraged before jumping over the gate. He landed with a small thud and Hoseok followed suit. Side by side, they began the steep climb to the top of the lookout.

About half-way up, Hoseok had grabbed Yoongi's hand again and Yoongi's heart just about fell out of his ass. Even though he'd held Hoseok's hand plenty of times, it was still weird to have Hoseok initiate it.

The moment they reached the top, Hoseok ran over to the seat and sat down, staring at the horizon. The breeze was rustling the tree situated behind the seat, blowing leaves onto the grass.

Yoongi wasn't sure how long he was staring at Hoseok but he jumped when the younger male said, 'sit down. You're making me anxious.' Shrugging, he made his way over to Hoseok and sat down, leaving a small gap between them. He didn't want to sit too close to the younger male but he didn't want to be that far apart either. So he left just enough space for Hoseok to shift closer if he wanted to.

Out of the corner of his eye, Yoongi kept a watch on Hoseok while under the pretence that he was looking at the sky.

'It's so beautiful.' Hoseok breathed. Yeah it is. It truly is. Yoongi wasn't even talking about the sky but about Hoseok. He truly was breathtaking and it hurt Yoongi.

'Truly.' Another silence fell over them and Hoseok smiled.

'So, what was Mina gonna say that was so embarrassing?' Hoseok brought up after about another five minutes of silence. Yoongi groaned, his hands coming to cup his cheeks and cover his eyes.

'Shit about you I've said.' He was trying to be vague while letting Hoseok know the truth. He hoped the younger male would drop it. If Hoseok decided to pry, Yoongi wasn't sure if he'd be able to lie or keep his mouth shut.

'Oh yeah? Like what?' Slowly, Hoseok removed Yoongi's hands from his face and inched closer. His eyebrow was cocked up, a teasing smirk on his face. Yoongi's heart was beating so fast he was sure he was about to have a heart attack.

'Nothing!' He squeaked and embarrassment curled up inside of him. He made the mistake of glancing down at Hoseok's lips because the other male just giggled.

I want to fucking kiss you so badly right now. And he was trying not to but Hoseok was making it so hard. With the way he was slowly but surely leaning in.

But the buzzing in both of their pockets surprised them and they sprang apart. Yoongi fumbled with shaking hands to grab it while Hoseok fished his out perfectly calmly. I'm gonna fucking kill whoever this is.

Jinnie: We're going out for dinner tonight. Jimin's suggestion as a final get together thing. Please be home by 6:30 so we can leave by 7.

Yoongi: You fucking suck.

Yoongi: But okay.

Jinnie: Tf did I do now????????
'So we're going out to dinner tonight.' Hoseok said, looking at Yoongi. The older male refused to meet his eyes, instead focused on his fingernails. I fucking hate everyone right now.

'I got the exact same text. Maybe we should head back home.' Yoongi suggested and the younger male nodded, standing.

****

The walk home was weird. Hoseok wouldn't speak to Yoongi, only let out incoherent noises when Yoongi asked him a question. Yet he still held Yoongi's hand so the older male didn't really complain. The whole way home though, Yoongi was so confused. This wasn't the first time Hoseok's "attempted" (if you could even call it that) to kiss him. Why? And he didn't want to get his hopes up by thinking that maybe Hoseok liked him because that was just wistful thinking. It'd get me nowhere and I'd only end up crushed.

There was so much noise coming from the apartment, the two could hear it from the end of the hallway. It was muffled thanks to the door but still, Yoongi could hear it.

'How we haven't had any noise complaints yet, is a miracle.' He mumbled, opening the door. Hoseok snorted and followed him inside.

Taemin and Namjoon were there sitting at the table, unsurprisingly. Both dressed up in smart casual with nice jeans and button ups. Taehyung was sitting on the counter, combing Jungkook's hair. Jimin was the only one not in sight and Yoongi could only guess he was in the bathroom.

'Ah! Hurry up and get ready!' Jin yelled at them the moment he saw the two. In that moment, under Jin's gaze, Yoongi felt like a teenager that had been caught sneaking out.

'Yes mum.' He mumbled and he ducked when Jin swatted him with a rolled up tea towel. The two of them dashed off to their room to get ready. Hoseok's hand was still in Yoongi's.

It took them about fifteen minutes to get ready. The moment everyone was ready, he'd ushered them all outside so they could get going. It was quarter past seven and Jin was bitching.

'I told you all to be ready by seven yet, here we are. Not ready!' He hissed and Taehyung was trying not to laugh. Jin continued his rant while everyone else just watched. Namjoon, Taehyung and Jungkook were seated on the dirty pavement while the rest stood.

'Can we focus on the more difficult matter? How the fuck are we getting there? Last time I checked, Jin was the only one who owned a car and there's eight of us. I'm not paying for a taxi.' Yoongi spoke up, rolling his eyes at Jin. Seriously. Who fucking cares?

'So I guess we walk?' Jimin spoke up. He had his arm around Hoseok's waist and Yoongi felt jealous. He's Hoseok's boyfriend. Stop this. He looked away.

'Cool. Where to?' Taehyung asked.

'There's a small restaurant near here. About a five minute drive? So maybe, a twenty minute walk?' Jin said and Taehyung stood, pulling Jungkook up as well. Jin helped his own boyfriend up.

Jimin still had his arm around Hoseok's waist when they left, almost in a protective manner. Guilt swelled up in Yoongi, threatening to choke him. I'd almost kissed Hoseok. Oh my god. He looked from Hoseok who was smiling and talking to Taemin to Jimin who was glaring at Yoongi. Jungkook and Taehyung were leading. Hoseok and Jimin behind them with Taemin while Namjoon and Jin dawdled behind with Yoongi.

'You okay? You look pale.' Namjoon whispered to Yoongi and placed a comforting hand on his shoulder.

'I'm okay. Not feeling too good.' Partially true. He wasn't feeling sick, just wrecked with guilt. Jin, noticing their exchange, glanced over and slowed down. The others continued, not really noticing they'd slowed.

'You look like you're about to throw up.' Jin mumbled, feeling Yoongi's forehead for a temperature. Immediately, Yoongi slapped his hand away.

'I just. I did something shitty and I feel ill.' He confessed. Namjoon raised his eyebrows.

'What did you do?' Jin hissed but Yoongi shook his head.

'I'll tell you later. Let's just get to the restaurant. I'm starving.'

It took another twenty minutes (almost 20:15, Yoongi noted) to be seated and ready to order.

The walk was only ten minutes or so but since they didn't have a booking (a minor detail Jin had left out) they had to talk to one of the waitresses about getting a table for eight fucking people. In the end, they ended up pulling two four seated tables together and sitting them there. The noise of metal scraping across carpet got them odd looks from other people.

Jin and Taemin were at either end of the table. Jimin, Hoseok and Jimin were seated to the right side of Jin. Namjoon, Taehyung and Jungkook were seated the other side. Jungkook would only keep his eyes trained on his menu. Taehyung kept a hand on his boyfriend's knee under the table, trying to reassure him.

'So, now that we're finally settled and ready to eat,' a pointed look at Jin. 'What are we gonna order?' Taehyung asked. All of them shrugged and Jin scoffed.

'Ungrateful brat.' He mumbled and Yoongi snorted, disguising it as a cough. Hoseok's mouth twitched.

'So, what are we ordering?' Jimin asked just as the waitress came over. She was pretty. Jin's eyes widened when he saw her and he tried not to smile.

'Hello my name's Jihyo. I'll be your waitress this evening. So to start off, drinks?' She asked and when she glanced around the table, her eyes lingered on Jin but she showed no other reaction. So this is the girl from Jin's classes. She's pretty.

Jin did the mass ordering for them. The only person who didn't order a soft drink was Jungkook. He ordered alcohol, much to everyone's surprise. Even Jihyo's eyes widened.

'Can I see ID?' She asked and Jungkook nodded, getting his ID without much noise. After checking that he was eighteen, she jotted it down before walking off without saying anything else

'Jungkook what the fuck?' Jin hissed, leaning on the table. The youngest just shrugged, fiddling with his napkin.

'Leave him alone, Jin.' Taehyung retorted. The oldest sighed and Namjoon entwined their hands on the table.

'I feel like the eighth wheel here.' Taemin shouted and Yoongi hummed in agreement. They were the only two present without a lover and it was a bit weird. Yoongi glanced at Hoseok but his eyes immediately caught sight of Jimin's hand resting on Hoseok's thigh.

'Sucks to be you two.' Taehyung teased, poking his tongue out. Yoongi kicked him under the table.

'Shut the fuck up, brat.' He said and Taehyung giggled. Jungkook whispered something to Taehyung and the smile fell off his face. The next thing anyone knew, the two had jumped out of their seats and dashing off.

'The fuck?' Jimin asked, craning his neck to see where they'd gone.

'I'm actually concerned.' Jin's eyebrows were creased together.

Yoongi: Is Jk okay????

Taebae: He's nervous, Yoongi. He's so scared that he's shaking. I'm so scared. My poor boyfriend :(

Yoongi's heart broke. The image of Taehyung holding a shaking Jungkook played like a movie in his head. The helpless look and feeling Taehyung was probably feeling drifted into Yoongi and it hurt. The thought of Jungkook having a panic attack because of everything and having no way to really help made Yoongi feel sick. Neither of them deserve this. Especially not Jungkook.

Taebae: Don't tell anyone else. Please. Pass it off like we're fucking or something. He's embarrassed.

Yoongi: I got you.

'Don't panic. Jungkook's apparently horny.' Jin narrowed his eyes and Yoongi wouldn't meet his gaze. Everyone either seemed to buy it or knew not to ask questions.

The two returned sometime later. Taehyung's hand was a feather touch on Jungkook's back, guiding him back to his seat. Jungkook wouldn't meet anyone's eyes and he kept them glued to the table top. Taehyung's eyes were glassy and his lip was now bleeding. Poor kids.

The rest of the dinner seemed to pass quite well. After they ordered, they all struck up individual conversations. Jin talking to Namjoon and Jimin. Taemin on his phone and Jungkook whispering to Taehyung. Yoongi had the chance to talk to Hoseok but he didn't take it. Instead, the two of them just passed expressions and looked at each other, trying to say anything. Hoseok eventually slipped their hands together, resting them on the chair.

When Jihyo had taken three trips to drop off all their food, a comfortable silence fell over them. Yet Yoongi didn't miss the passing look between Taehyung and Jin when Jungkook ordered more alcohol. Taehyung bit his lip, watching Jungkook with a worried expression.

It was almost 21:30 when they were ready for the bill. Jungkook had ordered another three glasses of alcohol and finished them quickly before anyone stepped in.

'That's enough, Kookie.' Taehyung had told him and Jungkook only nodded.

After the bill had been paid (Jin had nearly shrieked at the price), they started walking home. Namjoon and Jin were leading the way home, whispering and glancing back every so often. Taemin and Jimin were talking to each other, hand signals and everything. Jungkook was hanging off Taehyung drunk off his ass. He kept giggling, a complete 180* to his previous behaviour. Taehyung kept trying to calm him down but failed. And Hoseok and Yoongi brought up the rear, completely quiet.

Every single time Hoseok's fingers curled in his, even if it was briefly, Yoongi wanted to start yelling and demanding answers. Why did you almost kiss me earlier? The question was on the tip of his tongue, threatening to spill. Instead, he said nothing.

Eventually, they reached the apartment and went their separate ways; Two Taes and Jungkook heading to Taemin's apartment. The other five entered Jin's.

'I'm going to bed. See you in the morning.' Jin yawned, dragging Namjoon with him.

'I'll see you in the morning, Seok. Love you.' Jimin kissed Hoseok and with a nasty glare at Yoongi, he left the two alone.

'So' Hoseok started and for some reason, it felt like an awkward date. I need to shut the fuck up. The air around them was so thick, Yoongi was suffocating.

'Goodnight, Seokseok. See you in the morning.' Ignoring the urge to kiss his best friend, Yoongi stumbled to his room. His head was spinning.

But Hoseok's voice stopped him dead in his tracks. 'Hey, Yoongi?'

'Yeah?' He didn't turn around, afraid that he'd suddenly run back and kiss Hoseok on the mouth.

Hoseok sighed and it was awhile before he said anything. He sounded resigned. 'Nothing. We'll talk tomorrow. Sleep well.' Frowning, the older male crept into Taehyung's room. Jin and Namjoon were asleep already. Stripping out of his shirt, he climbed into bed. The soft pitter patter of Hoseok's feet on the hardwood floor then the flicker of the TV going on could be heard even through the walls.

Hoseok. What are you doing to me? What's your aim here?
