* Chapter Eight

'What the fuck is going on here?' Jin shouted the moment he stepped foot into the apartment. Yoongi didn't say a word, just walked to his room with his head down. Jin glanced at him before turning his attention back to the three idiots who were at the kitchen table. He was surprised to see his apartment still intact and clean. The only mess he'd have to clean up was the stack of dishes piled near the sink.

Two Taes and Jungkook froze in place at the sound of Jin's voice. All three of them had bowls of something in front of them and Taemin's hands were painted blue while Jungkook's were red. He couldn't see Taehyung's as they were shoved in the bowl. He guessed all three of them were in pyjamas as Taehyung had his duck onesie on, the hood pulled over his head. Jungkook was just dressed in a plain white tee with sweat pants while Taemin had some weird dressing gown thing on.

'We're playing with goo! Taemin found a recipe and used to the money you left behind to get the ingredients!' Taehyung replied, his boxy smile lighting up his entire face. He pulled his arms out of the goo and wiggled his green tinted fingers. Jin frowned.

'What did you use for dinner then?' He asked and Taemin raised his hand, the gooey stuff dripping off his arm and onto the table. Jin sighed, knowing he'd have to clean the mess up later. More shit to clean up. He thought to himself.

'We used Taemin's money. How was the trip?' Jungkook butted in, wiping as much goo off his arms into the bucket as possible before cleaning the rest with a paper towel. Jin shrugged.

To be honesty, the road trip home was complete and utter hell. Neither of them said a word to each other on the way back to the hotel and no one said goodnight just climbed into separate beds. Yoongi had avoided looking at Jin and Jin had pretended to go to sleep, starring at the ceiling. He knew Yoongi wasn't asleep either by the sounds of his breathing. He wasn't sure who fell asleep first.

When it was time to head back home, Jin didn't even wake Yoongi up himself. Just set an alarm for 06:30am and when Yoongi didn't get up, pegged all the pillows as hard as he could. It was a good way to get his anger out of his system. Jin didn't expect to still be angry when he woke up that morning but he was and pegging pillows at the problem was therapy.

Yoongi had mumbled under his breath before heading to the bathroom, taking his bag with him. Once he'd reappeared fully dressed, he hopped in the car and sat there, pouting like a child with his arms crossed over his chest. Jin climbed in twenty minutes later after returning his keys and making sure they had everything. He'd rolled his eyes at Yoongi's childish behaviour.

The drive home itself was ugly. Yoongi wouldn't say a word and ignored his phone every time it beeped, just stared out the window with his headphones in. Jin kept the radio on low and had the strongest urge to crash the car, killing both of them. He kept gripping the wheel tightly and if Yoongi was paying attention, he'd tell Jin to slow down and stop driving so recklessly and to be careful.

'Um, it was okay,' Jin started before pointing to Taemin. 'I'll pay you then you need to get the fuck out of my house.' He snapped. Taemin raised an eyebrow but got up, washing his hands and stood near the door. Jin grabbed the money he had to pay Taemin and pushed him out the door. Once he was gone, he marched down to Yoongi's room and peaked in, frowning when he saw that Yoongi had fallen asleep with headphones in, cuddling up to a spare pillow on his bed. His arms were wrapped tightly around the pillow with it shoved between his knees. The music must've been loud as Jin could hear the slight hum from where he was standing. Shutting the door quietly, he headed back to the kitchen and leaned against the counter, arms folded over his chest.

Jungkook raised an eyebrow and started to clean up the goo, making sure it was all in a Ziploc bag and in the fridge. He knew why Jin was acting like this and he wasn't prepared for the war that was about to follow in the next five minutes. Jungkook could feel the anger radiating off him and he knew Tae was in for it. He wanted to protect his boyfriend from Jin's wrath but this time he couldn't. Instead, he opted for making himself busy and shooting worried glances at Taehyung.

Taehyung on the other hand, sat at the table so confused as to why Jin was glaring at him. His hands and arms were stained green from the food colouring and at any time but right now, he probably would've found it hilarious but the tense and thick air around them made it hard to laugh. Jungkook took a seat across from Tae, watching him.

'Did you tell Yoongi?' Jin asked quietly and Jungkook tensed up. He watched his boyfriend's expression as it changed from confused to understanding to horror in 0.5 seconds. He clenched his hands and tears welled up in his eyes and Jungkook's protective side kicked in. He wanted to hug Tae but settled for holding his hand across the table.

'I did. But I never meant to, Jin. I swear I didn't!' Taehyung said quite calmly for how high his emotions were raging inside of him. Hysteria was quickly rising. He was scared of Jin.

'Really? How does one accidentally reveal a secret like that? I made you promise not to tell!' Jin shouted and Taehyung cowered. Jungkook's grip tightened.

'I'm sorry. I'm really sorry!' Taehyung looked on the verge of tears and Jungkook's heart panged in his chest.

'Leave him alone, Seokjin. He's apologised. Just let him be, okay?' Jungkook butted in, getting up to go and wrap his arms around Tae who clutched at Jungkook, his hands holding onto his boyfriend's biceps.

Taehyung was like a little child. If you yelled at him, he'd burst into tears and sulk. That's just who he was.

'Fine. Whatever. I need to go and see my professor anyway. I'll be back in an hour.' Jin sighed and grabbed his keys and phone before stomping out the door.

Taehyung sniffled and Jungkook squatted in front of Tae, hands on his boyfriend's knees.

'You okay?' He asked, gently rubbing his thumb over Tae's thigh. Tae nodded, patting Jungkook on the head, a small smile on his face.

'I hate seeing Jin mad. I never meant to tell Yoongi. It just slipped out. I'm sorry.' Taehyung mumbled and Jungkook's heart fell in his chest. The defeated tone of Tae's voice broke him.

The one thing that always upset Jungkook was seeing any of his roommates sad. Especially Tae. Seeing Tae sad was like looking at a kicked puppy and there was nothing worse than that.

'It's okay.' Jungkook kissed Tae's knuckles and the older boy leaned down, kissing the top of his boyfriend's head, heart pounding in his chest.

'Woah did I walk into something because what the fuck?' Yoongi's voice scared both of them and Jungkook fell back on his ass with a yelp. He turned to see Yoongi standing near the dining table, staring at the two lovebirds with a concerned expression.

'Um, no. You didn't walk into anything like that. But, did you not hear the screaming match that took place five seconds ago?' Jungkook snapped, anger boiling under his skin. His neck and ears felt hot. He was angry at Yoongi for letting it slip that Tae told. Now, because of Yoongi, Taehyung was all shaken up and Jungkook wanted nothing more than to protect him. Tae, sensing his boyfriend's anger, intertwined their hands with a gentle squeeze.

'Jin shouted at Tae?' Yoongi asked, frowning. Jungkook nodded and Yoongi shook his head.

'Why is he so mad about this? Tae told me. Big deal. Who cares?' Yoongi mumbled and leaned over to ruffle Tae's hair.

'Apparently it's such a big deal.' Taehyung muttered and swatted at Yoongi's hand with a small smile.

'Why did you spill anyway?' Jungkook questioned, raising an eyebrow. Yoongi shrugged and sat down on the edge of the table.

'I'd panicked. That's the only explanation.' Yoongi offered vaguely and waved his hand. He didn't want to go into too much detail. That was a problem saved for Hoseok.

'And is that a good enough reason to drag Taehyung into this?' Jungkook hissed and Yoongi smacked him upside the head.

'Enough. I don't want everyone in this damn apartment arguing with each other,' Taehyung mumbled before looking at Yoongi with a confused expression. 'How come you said no to Jin?'

'I don't like him like that. He's my best friend, Tae and that's all he'll ever be.' Yoongi admitted. Plus I'm in love with someone I've never met but I don't think you want to hear that story right now.

Tae frowned and stared at his lap before standing, pushing away Jungkook and Yoongi. He pulled his hoodie over his head again.

'Excuse me.' He whispered and headed to his room, borderline crying. Jungkook's heart fell apart in his chest for the umpteenth time that day and he wanted to go and comfort his boyfriend but he knew it'd only make the situation worse. Instead, he let out a sigh and walked over to the couch, flopping down with his hands over his eyes.

'His grandma's very sick. I'm not sure how long she's been ill or if she'll survive. He blurted out to me last night when I found him crying. He's upset over that. Plus this whole thing with Jin isn't helping.' Jungkook murmured when Yoongi sat near Jungkook. Yoongi's mouth parted in shock and he looked down the hallway, seeing the shut door to Tae's room hurt. He had been hurting this whole time and he didn't tell anyone?

'He's so good at hiding it.' Yoongi whispered and Jungkook sat up, his hands falling into Yoongi's hair accidentally.

'Which is why we need to go easy on him. He's upset right now. I'm trying to do my best to help ease it but he needs to go and see her and his brother and sister. He needs to see them.' Jungkook whispered, voice cracking.

'I wish we could send him to see them.' Yoongi mumbled and he knew how much Tae needed to see her. She raised him.

When Taehyung was about seven, he was sent off to live with his grandparents as his own parents struggled to look after all three of them financially. They thought his siblings and Tae would be better off somewhere more stable and where they didn't have to worry about money. Taehyung didn't really see his parents that often since they worked so hard but he saw them occasionally when they came to visit.

'I'm just worried about him,' Jungkook sighed, staring at his hands. 'He juggles so much on his plate and I'm so proud of him.'

Yoongi ruffled Jungkook's hair and pulled him into an awkward hug with a small frown.

'He'll be okay. I'll take up extra shifts and I've got money saved up from before. I'll just use that on Tae. Don't worry, Kookie.' Yoongi said.

'Are you sure? I don't want more stress on you.' Jungkook mumbled. The one thing that hurt him more than anything was stress on his friends and knowing that he couldn't do anything to lessen it. His phone buzzed in his blazer. Opening it up, he frowned and let out a dramatic sigh.

Jinnie: I'm going to be staying at Jihyo's for a few days to clear my head. Plus I need to catch up on this assignment. Sorry.

'Your best friend is so fucking dramatic I swear.' Jungkook mumbled and showed Yoongi the text who just rolled his eyes before giggling.

'Seriously? Oh Jin.' Yoongi found the whole thing funny. His best friend was being petty and staying at a friend's place purely because Taehyung had spilled a secret. Was he really going to act like this?

'He's so dramatic!' Jungkook exclaimed and started laughing. The situation wasn't even that funny. If anything, it was depressing but he blamed hysteria.

'How long until you graduate?' Yoongi asked, changing the subject. Jungkook did a quick calculation in his head.

'Well the date today is the twenty-six so roughly three weeks.' Both boy's eyes widened at the same time and they stared at each other, shocked.

'Holy shit you're so old!' Yoongi exclaimed, a huge smile on his face. Jungkook rolled his eyes and pushed him.

'I am not! If I'm old then you're ancient,' He teased. 'Also, you don't have a spare tux right? Our dance is this Wednesday and well, I don't have a proper tux.'

'I don't. Even if I did, who said it'd fit you? I mean, you're so much buffer than I am.' Yoongi glanced down at his noodle legs then at Jungkook's. Yoongi's thigh was probably the same size as Jungkook's calf muscle.

'Shut up. Well, can we go shopping for a tux? Wait doesn't Jin have one?' Jungkook frowned and Yoongi ruffled his hair.

'Never thought I'd see the day Jeon Jungkook starts stressing about tuxes and dances,' Yoongi teased and Jungkook gave him the finger but started grinning.

'Shut up. I want to look somewhat pretty standing next to Tae.'

'You're taking Tae to your dance? That is the cutest thing.' Yoongi cooed and an image of Taehyung standing next to Jungkook, both on tuxes with styled, gelled back hair popped into his head. He struggled to stifle a laugh. Jungkook just smiled.

'Of course I am. He's done so much for me and well, he should be at my final event for high school.' Jungkook's eyes glazed over and Yoongi knew he was remembering that time because he was thinking of it as well.

Jungkook was only fourteen when he met Taehyung. Yoongi wasn't sure how they met but they were quite young when they started dating a year later. The two of them had been dating for a few weeks when they decided to tell their parents. Luckily, Tae's grandma was so accepting of it. Jungkook's parents on the other hand, were against it.

When Jungkook came out as gay and that he was dating Taehyung, they kicked him out. At first, they told him that it was just a phase but when he brought Taehyung over to prove that they were dating, his parents waited until Taehyung left before throwing things at him. They left a huge bruise of Jungkook's cheek that lasted a week. His parents then kicked him out and told him to never contact them again.

Immediately, Jungkook went back to Tae who cleaned up the cuts and bruises while crying. The whole time, he mumbled 'I'm so sorry, Kookie.' Under his breath. Thankfully, Tae's grandma let Jungkook live under their roof until he got himself sorted.

'You'll look just as pretty as Tae.' Yoongi whispered softly, gently playing with Jungkook's hair who leaned into his touch.

'I won't look as pretty as him. No one is as pretty as him.' Jungkook's eyes were wide with adoration and they were bright. His voice was soft. Yoongi would usually say that a teenager wouldn't know what love was but the way Jungkook and Tae acted and talked about each other, they were so in love no one else knew what love was. No one compared to these two.

And Yoongi was jealous of them. He was jealous of how much they protected and looked after each other. How much they cared for one another and how fucking, sickeningly in love they were. As gross as it was, it was also so fucking cute it made Yoongi's dead heart flutter,

'I'm going to go check on him and make sure he's okay.' Jungkook got up and jogged to his bedroom and Yoongi laughed at the way his hair bounced up and down. He heard the door close behind Jungkook. He headed to his own room and grabbed his phone, sitting on the bed. Biting his lip, he stared at Hoseok's contact.

He hadn't spoken to Hoseok since yesterday before Jin's confession. Since then, he'd ignored everyone who contacted him and that included Hoseok. He'd gotten the message as his texts stopped after about two hours.

Hope: How are things?

Hope: Yoongi???

Hope: I take it things are good??

Hope: Yoongi please answer me

Hope: Message me, okay?

His last text was sent at 11:59pm that night and it'd been a full twelve hours since his last text. Deciding he's calmed down enough, he messaged his friend back.

Yoongi: I'm so sorry bud. I've had a stressful 12 hours.

Hope: Skype session?

Yoongi: Ofc. Why do we sound like gossiping teens?

Hope: Bc you're talking to The Jung Hoseok now fucking skype me twat.

Yoongi grabbed his laptop and waited for it to boot up. While he was waiting, he made sure he looked somewhat decent. The bags under his eyes, the slight puffiness in his face and his brown roots made him cringe but he couldn't do much about it right now.

Opening Skype, he clicked the video call button next to Hoseok's name and turned away from the screen when his face popped up. He stared out the window and the ringing noise from Skype was slightly calming to him.

'Hey Yoongi.' Came Hoseok's soft voice from his laptop and Yoongi turned back to the screen to see a blurry Hoseok grinning at him. He couldn't help the gummy smile that crossed his face. Hoseok had that effect on Yoongi.

'Hey Hope. How are you?' He asked, shifting so that he was laying down.

'I'm good. I went to a fair last night with Jimin.' Yoongi picked up on the strain of Hoseok's voice when he mentioned Jimin but decided not to press it. Not my place.

'What fair?' Yoongi asked and he prayed it wasn't the one he went to. He'd kick himself if it was. Blurry Hoseok shrugged.

'I'm not sure but Jimin's brother gave us tickets to go to some fair that's a day's trip away from us.' Yoongi did the math in his head and he groaned, letting his head drop onto his keyboard with a slight bang.

'We were at the same fair.' He mumbled and Hoseok started laughing.

'Are you serious?' He asked in between fits and Yoongi nodded. He knew he'd spotted Jimin!

'Yes. I thought I spotted Jimin. I wasn't sure since I've only seen him once but I'm sure that was him now! Fuck! I could've met you.' Yoongi looked up at the screen and saw that Hoseok had a sad, tiny smile on his face and Yoongi sighed.

'Oh well. There's always next time,' He smiled properly now. 'How did that thing with Jin go?' And Yoongi groaned again.

'Fucking horrible. He told me he liked me in a fucking Ferris Wheel,' Hoseok burst out laughing again and Yoongi's heart skipped a beat at the sound. Hoseok had the prettiest laugh. 'And well, I let it slip that one of my roommates had already told me and now, Jin's not even staying with us. He's staying at a friends place for a while. The whole thing is fucking hilarious.' Yoongi ranted and Hoseok shook his head.

'Wild.'

'I know. Trust me. I'm living it.' Yoongi stared at Hoseok, completely awed with how pretty he was. His hair was messy and sitting off his face and he was wearing a loose shirt that hung a little off his shoulder. Plus his smile was written on his face and Yoongi's insides melted.

'Why did you shoot him down? He's a pretty good-looking dude.' Hoseok prodded and Yoongi's eyes widened a fraction.

'I like someone else. Besides, Jin's my best friend.' Yoongi admitted vaguely and the boy on the other end of the screen smirked. Yoongi felt his insides twist. He's about to ask a question I know I won't want to answer.

'Who is this boy you like?' Hoseok asked, his voice taking on a weird tone and Yoongi gulped. Thankfully (or maybe not) his door shot open and Taehyung stood there, staring at Yoongi with a confused expression.

'Yoongi who are you talking to?' He asked and Yoongi shook his head.

'No one.' He mumbled and Hoseok scoffed.

'Who's there, Yoongi?' He asked and Yoongi sighed.

'Yoongi, who is that?' Tae asked and took a step closer.

'I'll call you back, Hope,' He closed his lid and sat up, eyebrow raised. 'You want to tell me why you so fucking rudely burst into my room without knocking?' Yoongi asked and he felt kind of angry. Now, Taehyung knew about Hoseok and he wasn't prepared for this conversation right now.

'I wanted to ask something but this is more important. Who were you talking to?' Taehyung came over and sat on the edge of Yoongi's bed without permission. Yoongi counted to three in his head, feeling the strongest impulse to break Tae's legs.

'None of your business,' Tae raised an eyebrow. 'Fine he's a friend of mine.' Yoongi mumbled and Tae gasped.

'You have friends besides us?' He teased and Yoongi was three seconds away from knocking the younger boy out.

'Fuck off. I do. Mina's my friend.' He snapped and his tone didn't faze Tae at all. Instead, it only made him grin more.

'She doesn't count. What's this guy's name? You called him Hope. Is that his real name?' Tae shot question after question at him and Yoongi considered pushing him off the bed. Taehyung grabbed on Yoongi, shaking him slightly.

'His name is Hoseok. Hope is a nickname I've given him.' He answered, hoping that Tae would piss off.

'Why haven't we ever met him?' He asked. Yoongi groaned again.

'Because I've never met him myself. We've been friends for five years. I haven't met him because I haven't been able to afford to see him nor do I actually have the time. Can you piss off now?' Yoongi asked, whining slightly. He just wanted to be left alone now. Tae shrugged.

'Do you like him?' He asked suddenly. Yoongi coughed, choking on air.

'No!' He shouted and Tae smirked, raising an eyebrow.

'Liar!' He sang and Yoongi actually did push him off the bed. His roommate landed on the floor with a dull thud and a yelp of pain.

'Fuck off. Go and annoy Taemin or something. What did I do to deserve this torture?' Yoongi asked and Taehyung jumped up, skipping to the door.

'See ya lover boy!' He shouted as he bounded down the hall. Yoongi flopped back onto his bed and grabbed his phone.

Yoongi: That was Taehyung. He's one of my roommates and he's a pain in the ass. He says hi.

Hope: lol he sounds cool. Wish I could meet your friend L.

Yoongi: I know. One day tho.

Hope: I've got to go. I'll skype you tonight.

Yoongi: See ya. I've got to get ready for work anyway.

Checking the time, he scrambled up and grabbed his work clothes from his closet. Quickly pulling them on, he remembered the mild lie Jin told to Jonghyun.

'Fuck.' He hissed.

Yoongi: Fucker, get your ass here we need to talk.

Jinnie: Why?

Yoongi: You fucking lied to my boss and im now 98% sure he expects some ring on my finger. Do you have one?

Jinnie: I'll be home in a few.

Yoongi sat on the edge of his bed, confused. Jin was coming home, not even an hour after saying he wasn't going to be home for a few days? What changed his mind? He finished getting changed and shoved his phone into his pocket.

Once he made sure he was ready, he ran to the door and opened it, standing outside. No point in waiting inside for him if he was going to bounce to work anyway.

Jin arrived five minutes after Yoongi left the apartment, walking down the hall with his shoulders hunched. Yoongi watched him and his heart tugged. He looks sad. Jin, are you okay?

Jin stopped in front of Yoongi and took his necklace off, holding it out to Yoongi with a tight smile.

'Take this. Don't lose it and wear it around your neck until you don't need it.' He mumbled and Yoongi hesitantly took it, clipping it around his own neck and tucking it under his work shirt. The cool metal of the ring burned him and he felt guilty for everything that had happened.

'Thanks. Listen, Jin.' Jin held his hand up, silencing Yoongi.

'No, I get it. Don't explain. Just take it. Don't feel guilty and I'll see you later.' And with that, Jin headed back down the hallway, leaving Yoongi to stare after him with a frown on his face.
