Chapter 1: New World... Same Life.

Caldwell opened his eyes and looked around...

In a new world, and a lot of trees... Forests, he can tell...

And He's alone with in front of him was a trail of shoes and feets marks...

[Distrustful (Lv. MAX)]

His Paranoia sparked, as he looked aroung and grabbed all his equipments and weapons up and head to the cave... Making sure that other Hunters won't be shooting him... If he kills them first.

Reloading his Winfield Talon to full and his Nagant Officer... He then went into the cave...

Though, he did wonder why he also got speed loaders for his Winfield Talon along with a load of Compact Ammo... But he just shrugs, at least he won't have to take nearly a minute to reload. And he won't have to worry about running out of ammo for now.

...

"That's just great..." Caldwell muttered.

Out of nowhere, he's now firing at the Goblins with his Winfield, and then hacking them down with his Bladed Stock.

He spotted a Goblin Shaman about to cast a spell... To Caldwell's eyes, some kind of Demonic Spell... Caldwell closed his eyes and prepared for the blow... Disappointed of his Fifth Rookie Mistake...

"... Back to the Wellspring ag-."

A Throwing Knife landed at the Shaman's Skull. Sparing him from his fifth Wellspring run.

"One."

Caldwell turned his back to the stranger behind him and it's a Knight with Full Mediveal Armor. He couldn't see the person's face well...

Despite that individual just saved him... His distrust of everyone didn't help, he then said...

"Who are you, and are you here to gut me alive?" Caldwell coldly ask, before aimming his Winfield at the individual.

Goblin Slayer's POV.

...

He aimmed some strange Crossbow at me, despite I've saved him... Telling from his tone and expression... He seems to trust only himself...

A pity. Whatever happened to him, must've caused him to keep his distance from everyone.

"... Calm down." I told him. But he didn't relent.

"How can I trust you? You'd stab me in the back at any seconds." The guy replied, still hostile.

"This place is crawling with a lot of Goblins. Not only that, you're nearly killed by a Shaman, and your weapons has alerted the entire horde. They were loud." I replied.

He raised his eyebrow before adding.

"Are you... an expert of these... Goblins?"

I nodded.

He seems to contemplating for a few seconds... Until...

"... I'll help you with those things. But any funny ideas, and I'll make you wish you were never born."

It seems he's willing to help me. But he still doesn't trust me...

"Good enough for me. I'm Goblin Slayer." I told him, which he seems to calm down a bit.

Back to Caldwell...

{Distrust Lv. III > Lv. II*}

I'll trust him... For now.

...

Odd... Why does he sounded younger... or feminine?

...

No. I should focus on those Goblins instead of who he is, with that said, I'll use my title name, since I've heard rumors of a place that only have title names...

"...You can call me, Fallen Hunter."

"Fallen Hunter?" The Young Knight asked.

"A Hunter hunts Monsters... But a Fallen Hunter hunts anyone. Hence the name." I replied, while taking out a Big Goblin with two shot to the eyes with my Nagant, and caving it to the head with my Winfield's Stock.

"I see. And that's a Hobogoblin, you've just killed." As the Slayer tossed two throwing knifes at two Goblins with bows and arrows.

One of them got an arrow at my shoulder, but I finished it off with an another shot with my Winfield... Until I've noticed a smell...

...

Of course, they dipped Poison onto their Arrows.

"You can smell the poison?" The Goblin Slayer noticed.

"Yes. An Old Habit." I replied, after tossing a lit Fire Bottle at a Goblin Lord, and the throne of human bones was on fire... It managed to dodge, but the Goblin Slayer took care of that thing.

He then gave me something, a bottle full of something... Probably Poison or Infected Alcohol...

"Not thirsty."

"It's to cure the poison."

I tried to rebuke, but my shoulder feels like it starting to burn like hell or eating my flesh...!!! This one is stronger than the ones I've been through...!!!

"Argh... Okay... I'll trust you for this one...!"

I took the Antidote and drink it... Expecting more Poison or Placebo... Only for it to stop the poison... And I feel better...

...

Okay... Maybe I should trust this guy at all cost... The Others... Not so much.

"... I suppose that I'm wrong about you... For-"

"Focus on the Goblins first. Then you can say sorry." He replied.

Right... Ahem. I reloaded my Winfield, along with my Nagant as the Goblin Slayer took care a few of them for me. As I continue forward and took care of the Archers, and Shamans. And now the guy took care of the Goblin Lord. And checked around...

While I check their weapons... They looked crude and low quality... But I suppose it's mitigated by high quantity. I spotted a few runners, and took care of a few of them, while I missed some. Which the Goblin Slayer took care of the rest.

"They've not reproduced yet... Good."

I looked around and used my Dark Sight and noticed a few small Goblin Juveniles behind a fake wall...?

"There. I saw a few kids over there." I pointed. "A Fake Wall was hiding them."

"You do use Dark Magic?" Goblin Slayer asked.

"Only Dark Sight and Necromancy. Always for reserrecting myself for the Necromancy part."

"How do you restore your powers?" He asked...

"Souls of my Hunts."

Which is a lie of course. It's either the Wellspring or the Darkness... I was Damnned after all...

"... I see."

You can guess that he took care of the Goblin Kids... And it's quite a bloody mess...

...

I really don't feel any remorse about them... I secretly smiled as they're slaughtered...

While to some people, Goblin Childrens can be redeemed...

But for me... Demon Lord or Goblin Childrens... They're all prey in my eyes... A Hunter must Hunt after all... Fallen or not.

"You done?" I told him, as he took care of them.

"Yes." He replied, still with a hint of feminine voice... Odd...

But anyways...

"Do you need me to tend to your wounds?" I asked.

"No need. My Health Potions will do the trick."

"Suit yourself." I replied and then tended to my own wounds, and he kept guard.

I could use my Vitality Shot... But I doubt that this world would have them... Unless I could find a certain merchant who'd accept Hunt Dollars, then I'm screwed.

After finishing with my minor wounds, by stitching, disinfecting and bandaging... He motioned me to follow him... I suppose I why not? He saved my life twice, and never stabbed me in the back...

Though, I won't be sure about the others.

After getting out of the cave... I noticed Goblin Slayer is waiting for me, on a horse.

"... Can't I just walk and you tell me where to go?"

"You'd risk being ambushed by any passing Goblins. It's better to stick with me, Fallen Hunter." He replied.

...

Hmph... Now, how the hell am I going to repay his generosity...?

"... Thanks... Mister Goblin Slayer." I reluctantly accept.

Later... Goblin Slayer's POV...

He still keeps an eye on the surrounding, despite we're now nearing to the town.

...

He even mistake me as a guy... When I'm girl.

Either way, I'll start an another Goblin Quest, since he took care the most of it, before I arrived.

...

Strange, why do I felt some connection for him?

What's with the odd feeling of me being attrected to him? Like an obsession?

...

No. I should focus on the Goblins. He's likely going to prefer to trust himself, except me.

At the Guild...

"We've arrived." Goblin Slayer told Caldwell.

"Right..."

After arriving at the Guild, which looks like a tavern in Caldwell's eyes. They both entered and...

"Ah! Welcome back!"

While Goblin Slayer responded with a usual hello... Caldwell noticed that she looks akin to a clerk of an Office or Train Station. Which caused Caldwell to wonder... 'Is this place for Mails or what?' As he noticed other commodities on the place, like a small bar, and a board for missions. Or Quests in this place.

"Hey." Was Goblin Slayer's usual greeetings.

"How did the mission go?" She asked Goblin Slayer.

"Good. All Goblins are dead."

"Of course."

She giggled, she then noticed Caldwell and asked...

"Oh, but who are you might be, stranger?"

Caldwell replied.

"Cal... Fallen Hunter... Well, Goblin Slayer saved my skin from those bastards. I guess I owe him."

"I see! I'm happy to hear that someone was spared from their awful abuse!"

"Yeah... I doubt they would abuse me... they rather to have my head on a spike, instead." Caldwell replied, with a cynical tone.

"O-Oh... S-Sorry for the offense..." She apologized and then turned to Goblin Slayer and said. "Here's your pay for the mission, Goblin Slayer."

A decently sized pouch was placed on the table for Goblin Slayer to take. She then poured half of the contents which is a few gold and few silver coins... And then gave it to Caldwell, surprising both Guild Girl and Caldwell... (Caldwell doesn't know.)

"Here's your cut."

"A... Are you sure about this...?" Caldwell with a confused tone.

"Yes. You've killed a fair amount of Goblins before I've arrived. Along with a good number when we finished them off. You Dark Sight helped revealed the hidden Goblin Childrens. You earned it."

Caldwell was hesistent at first... but let out a slight smile and accepted it.

"Thank you..."

"Oh? So, You helped killing the Goblins as well? Are you an adventurer?" The Clerk asked.

"A Demon Hunter more like... I'm an indepenant contractor. The pay is higher than that, but it's highly competitive and cutthroat... Most don't care of who's returning with the Bounty... Hence the reason."

"Oh dear... That's really dangerous." She sounded worried for him.

"I could explain why you don't trust anyone... Except me and Guild Girl." Goblin Slayer added.

"You're not wrong..." Caldwell, unable to rebuke. Along with one reason why he goes alone.

"Anyways... If you need anything, feel free to ask me. You can call me Guild Girl. And maybe you could try some Missions that would be less competitive." She told Caldwell.

"Appreciated." Caldwell replied to Guild Girl.

"Any Goblin Quests?" Goblin Slayer suddenly asked. causing Guild Girl to blink in shock, but for Caldwell...

"I take it that I made it easy?"

"Correct. I didn't do a lot. I can do another... I mean no offense." Goblin Slayer replied.

"None taken." Caldwell replied.

"Well... If you say so..."

Guild Girl sighed, she then picked up a few papers, flipped through a few of them and give one.

"There is an another quest in a nearby town. It's a small nest from the looks of it, but since you've just finished with one quest, I'm not letting you do anything more difficult, okay?"

"Okay." Goblin Slayer replied, which she smiled and hold the paper out for him to take.

"Be careful on your mission! Oh, and about your paperwork..."

"I'll fill it out once I get back."

"Alright. Alright..." Guild Girl sighed before bowing." Do take care out there. Okay?"

"Yeah."

With that's done, Goblin Slayer turns around to leave. She looked a Caldwell, and gave him a nod, which Caldwell returned the favor, before she left...

After the doors closed...

"What will I do with her...?"

Caldwell noticed and said...

"Wait... Goblin Slayer is a girl...?" Caldwell asked, confused.

"Oh! Yes, Fallen Hunter... Did you mistake her as a guy?"

"... Juding by the Armor and Helmet... Yes..."

Which Guild Girl giggles a bit and replied...

"It's alright. Some people do mistake her as a guy, Fallen Hunter."

"R-Right..."

After a few seconds of silence...

"So, er... Care to fill the details on this place?"
