Chapter 5: Absolute Chaos

Sooooo, just to review, here are the zodiacs and their corresponding familiars... refer to this if you're confused in the middle of reading, because even though I made the names very clear and simple, there are first initials repeats that complicate things. I know I did when I wrote this. Oh, and also feel free to refer to Chapter 3.5 too :) It was so hard juggling all twenty-four characters, but I tried my best!!

Aries : Arina

Taurus : Thalia

Gemini : Gray & Glenn

Cancer : Callum

Leo : Lealie

Virgo : Vance

Libra : Liam

Scorpio : Scarlet

Sagittarius : Serna

Capricorn : Connor

Aquarius : Awua

Pisces : Pax

Now, onto the story.

Prepare for absolute chaos indeed.

Nobody POV

The familiars popped in the minute the zodiacs finished breakfast.

And scared the crap out of them.

"So, I think I'm ready to go and meet some babes," Gray said, stretching leisurely. Because Gray was Gray, he had unbuttoned his blazer and left most of his shirt unbuttoned.

"Oh, geez, stop being such a pushover," Arina said, rolling her eyes and leaning over to button some of the buttons up.

"Where the heck did you find the school uniform?" Aries asked.

"Universe very nicely gave them to us," Serna said.

Thalia sighed loudly. "Yeah, but I do wish that I could just wear some normal fashionable clothes... at least I got to keep my heels."

"Uh, if I remember right, Universe specifically said, and I quote, 'Do you know how hard it was just to manage to smooth you into the program?! Galaxia's trip was fine because she's a grown and certified adult but twelve newbies is something completely different! The least you could do is be grateful!'" Awua said jokingly.

Aquarius sighed. "Yep, that sounds like the good ol' Universe we all know and love."

Taurus grinned at Thalia. "Don't worry, you and I both know that you can pull just about anything off."

"And she's well aware of it," Scarlet sighed. "I, for once, agree with Princess. I miss my frilly dresses. I mean, scaring the kids would've been easier that way, but oh well."

Pisces cleared her throat. "Um, if I may say, you could probably scare them just fine right now as is."

"My zodiac is completely right," Pax agreed. "I mean seriously. Scarlet. You've never taken a close look in the mirror, have you?"

"She doesn't need to because she's already hyperaware of it," Liam interjected. "Like, hyper-hyperaware."

"We did only stop jumping after about three years of her taking delight in doing it," Glenn mused. "Then again my bro and I always tried to scare her back and-"

"It never worked, yes yes we know," Lealie practically shouted. "Now listen up peoples, let's go and show ourselves off!"

Leo looked so proud. "Yep, that's my familiar all right."

(A/N: Warning, the actual zodiacs might not get a lot to say in this chapter because hey-their familiars have been cooped up in Nowhere for a looooooong time, so of course they're super excited. And, as a result, their enthusiasm kind of drowns the others out. Bear with them/me.)

You can probably imagine the spectacle and the absolute uproar they all made the minute they stepped foot into the school.

I'll spare you the details, only that many boys and girls fell hard for the familiars.

And that eventually, the principal had to be called in to disperse the crowd.

Yep.

Two minutes into the story and we already have the promised absolute chaos.

Math w/ Arina, Aries, Cancer, Callum, Pax, and Pisces

(These sections will be relatively short, the action will come later so I'm trying to get to it)

"WHAT IS THIS?!" Arina blew up at her worksheet for the fifth time. Aries sighed and moved over once again to explain things to her. Mr. Kageyama had already tried and failed. He was currently sitting at his desk, calmly ignoring the sound for his own sanity.

Callum, who was sitting next to them with Cancer, groaned and massaged his temples. "Geez... glad to see you haven't changed a bit, Ari..."

"Ugh, so true," Connor groaned. "I still remember those days when she blew up at our math teachers," Pax agreed.

"Is it my fault? This is literally just a buncha numbers and marks floating around my face!" Arina exclaimed.

"Maybe, if you tried to actually take the time and understand it, you'd get it," Aries grumbled.

"Just concentrate and sort through the information in your head," Cancer suggested. "I mean, I'm not the best at math either."

"But try and keep it down," Pisces added.

Arina actually looked kinda thoughtful. "Hm, quiet down? Sort through the information? Hm, maybe I do need to do that! Thanks!"

She resumed scribbling on her worksheet and pretty much everybody breathed out a sigh of relief.

A few minutes later...

"ARRRRRRRRGHHHH!!!!!"

Needless to say, the innocent worksheet ended up in shreds.

History w/ Libra, Liam, Thalia, Taurus, Awua, and Aquarius

"I bet you ten invisible dollars that I will ace this class," Liam said smugly. "It's my familiar's best subject, so naturally it should be mine as well!"

"Actually," Libra corrected him sheepishly, "My best class is Social Studies, but History is my second-best subject."

Thalia rolled her eyes and stretched. "Ugh, whatever, Liam. That's only because you've raided the library so many times."

"What's one supposed to do when trapped in the house?!" He cried indignantly.

"You could try actively trying to find someone to argue with," Awua suggested. "And not, say, go around making people angry just because you're bored."

"That's true," Thalia agreed.

"Hey, I don't make people angry on purpose," Liam argued. "They get mad on their own. I don't even do anything!"

"Yeah, yeah," the two girls said in unison.

"Sounds like your life is utterly boring," Aquarius noted.

"It is," Thalia groaned. "I can't find someone who can match me-"

"I can't find anyone that I can have a good debate with-" Liam jumped in.

"And I can't find the end of the house, which is extra annoying," Awua finished.

"Wow," Taurus said as they sat down at a table. "And here I was thinking maybe life in a never-ending house wouldn't be that bad."

"Surely there are some good parts," Libra tried.

The three shook their heads at the same time. "Not after a thousand years, no."

"Huh."

Half an hour into history class...

"Young man, leave right now! Detention for speaking back to a teacher and holding back the entire class!"

"Liam!" Thalia and Awua hissed at him. "What were we just talking about before class?"

"Sorry, I forgot," Liam said, shrugging offhandedly. "At least that was sort of fun."

He winked then sauntered out of the classroom.

The girls facepalmed in unison. "Ugh..."

Science w/ the G Twins, Mini, Scorpio, Saggitarius, and Serna

Mini was assigned to look after the twins. Well, more like Gem forced her to do it, and she was also forced to feel his smugness for having 'won the fight'.'

The beginning of the class was fine, everything went relatively smoothly. Then Gary started whispering to her.

"The science teacher is a real babe," Gary said eagerly. "Right, Mini?"

She narrowed her eyes. "Huh."

"We have a certain taste for things like that, don't huh me."

Scarlet groaned. "Ugh, remind me again why we have the same classes. This is literally going to be us painfully suffering through them flirting with girls."

"Mm." Serna hummed, blissfully ignoring them as she looked out the window.

"Serna, watch out!!!!"

Class was called off early because the entire table got destroyed.

Gym

Taurus sat on the bleachers once more, enjoying himself thoroughly as he watched them play. It was basketball again today, and as expected today it was Arina and Aries that dominated. Well, actually they were on different teams, just to 'ramp up the excitement more.'

In other words, they were playing as if their lives depended on it.

Thalia had spent a good ten minutes arguing with the gym teacher. He had insisted that she couldn't wear her heels while playing, and so naturally they got into a fight which she evidently won. She was darting around the court now, and it was also evident that her balance was impeccable.

There she is, playing wearing high heels as if it was nothing, Taurus thought with a smile. And here I am, sitting on the bleachers with my crutch.

"YAAAAAAAAH!" Arina screamed a moment later when she scored again. "Take that, Aries!"

"Hey, that's not fair!" He protested. "You've been training way longer than I have!"

Actually, if they were being honest, it was mainly the zodiacs and the familiars that were playing. The rest of the kids were too busy ogling them to notice.

Wait, no, scratch that. Vance and Lealie weren't playing because he spent all his time staring at the sky and she didn't want to ruin her hair.

"Exactly," Arina said smugly, tossing her long red ponytail off her shoulders. "Better luck next time!"

"Now, now, calm down," Coach said in an utterly bored voice. "Line up again and we can maybe squeeze in another game before class ends-"

BOOM.

The unmistakable sound of a bomb blew off. The students screamed. The entire left wall was completely obliterated into dust, and so was most of the gym. Taurus lept up from the bleachers when he spotted a vague shape in the rubble and dust. "Guys..."

The shape grew closer and soon they could make out the form of a girl, laughing maniacally as she loaded her gun. "Class's done, children," she said. Her wide smile glinted through the dust. "It's time to let the lions play."

----------------------------------------------

Before anybody could speak the girl had her gun ready and had fired it at Taurus. "You look relatively easy to kill! I'll start with you!"

The instant before it would've pierced his heart Thalia ran in front of him and thrust out... her schoolbag? To all of their surprise, the bullet ricocheted with a pang! off of the bag. It wasn't even dented. "How dare you try and attack my zodiac first?!" she asked angrily.

The assassin's smile widened. "So you're the princess, are you? It's good to see my sources weren't wrong."

"What do you want?" Pisces spoke up bravely, though her voice trembled. The girl lowered her gun. "It's obvious, isn't it? I'm here to kill you all."

They all tensed.

"First, though..." the girl took out a... was that a playing card? But no, it had strange runes patterned on the center, not a number. "We need some privacy, don't you think?" She let the card slip from her fingers. All eyes were on it as it floated almost tauntingly down. The moment it touched the ground light shone from it. The zodiacs blinked.

There was nobody in sight except for them.

"Waaaah?!" Leo exclaimed out loud. "Where the heck did everyone go?!"

"It's a Clearing Rune Card," Serna said, voice also trembling but her eyes were fierce. "It 'clears' the field and stops time outside of the range so the people inside can have some privacy."

The girl grinned. "Correct, Serna. Knowledgable as always, hm?"

"Who are you?" Arina demanded. "You have no business with us!"

"Actually, I do," the girl corrected. "But before we launch into battle, names. The name's Worst. I was specifically trained to kill you."

"But why?" Scarlet hissed.

"As if I would tell you that," Worst cackled. "Pleasantries are over. I need to decide which one of you I'd like to take first!"

"Lay one finger on my friends and I'll show you what a real princess of Everything can do," Thalia snarled, pulled out a knife from her bag.

Worst's grin only widened. "You're first, huh? Great!" The other zodiacs watched helplessly as the two girls rushed at one another. "I've always wanted to kill a princess!"

"Hey, Thal?" Awua called. "Remember not to go full force!"

"Why not?" Capricorn asked, surprised. "That girl is literally trying to kill us!"

"Yeah, but when she goes full force she can literally obliterate his entire school campus off the map," Connor answered for her. "And trust me, you do not want that to happen."

"Can she really do that?" Taurus asked, worried. "Do you think I should...?" He caught Aquarius's fierce glare. "Okay, so no."

"Don't worry, she can take care of herself," Lealie told him.

And it certainly seemed like it as neither of the girls seemed to be yielding. Thalia put her knife back into her bag, lept back into the air, and opened it again. Dozens of copies of her knife flew out, but Worst deflected them easily and retalitated, shooting a round of bullets in a single second.

Thalia put away her knife and instead took out a red thin-spiked weapon and slashed at Worst, who dodged, took out a long whip-like item, and swung it at her. Sparks flashed as the two weapons collided midair, then they both landed again.

"So, um... is anybody else offended that she's not paying any of us attention?" Leo asked.

At those words, Worst perked up. "Oh, so you want my attention, huh? Well, then, allow me to fancy your request!"

She swung her whip at them and they just barely lept out of the way. In the same second, she took out her gun and fired another round of bullets that thudded into the wall behind them.

"LEO YOU JUST HAD TO SAY IT DIDN'T YOU"

"You wanted my attention, and now you've got it!" Worst slung back her head and laughed and laughed and laughed maniacally. From under her coat, she pulled out three dangerously sharp knives, each as long as a forearm, and threw them with deadly accuracy at Cancer, Pisces, and Taurus.

"YOU'RE OPPONENT'S OVER HERE DAMMIT" Thalia attacked Worst, throwing her bag towards them. "Use it as a shield!"

Turns out they never needed it, because something slithered down and intercepted the knives with its body. "Oh no! Are you okay... ay?" Cancer stopped midsentence. Because the thing that had intercepted the knives wasn't a human.

Sure, it looked like a human and it had the characteristics of one... but it was made out of liquid metal.

"What is that thing?" Sagittarius asked.

"I think I know," Glenn replied.

The knives melted right out of the body and clattered onto the ground. It was extremely odd; the thing looked just like a statue. It had a puppet-like face and two pigtails. It wasn't wearing anything except for a silver skull choker around its neck.

From the other side, the two girls stopped fighting. The thing (we'll call it a puppet for now) raised a hand. "C'mon, Thals, let me have some fun too!"

The voice seemed to be from the accessory and sounded oddly... familiar.

Thalia lowered her weapon. "Eh? Fine." She hopped back to the group of familiars and zodiacs.

Worst looked delighted. "I've been waiting so long for you to come on out, Kouzaku!"

Libra's mind was the only one that registered the information. Kouzaku?!

The puppet's arms lengthened and the ends split into five separate tentacle-like things, each wielding a sharp edge. They came towards Worst, but when they touched her clothing nothing happened. Worst grinned. "I'm wearing weapon-resistant clothing, fool!"

She threw a bomb at the puppet's feet. It exploded, and electricity arced up and down the puppet's body. Worst smiled triumphantly, but it died when the puppet continued moving towards her. "Aw, seriously? Electric shocks don't work?"

The puppet attacked again, its limbs easily wrapping around Worst and dragging her to the ground. She growled and took out a blade, slicing through the restrainers and shooting ten bullets into her. She growled louder when the bullets dripped right out.

"So, I suppose metal has an advantage, eh?" she snarled. "Fine-"

They were interrupted by a soft squeaking sound. "Hello? Is everyone all right?"

Horror and one gleeful smile as a small girl stepped out from behind a piece of rubble. She picked their way towards them. "What's going on? Why is there a scary lady-"

"Perfect! It seems we have an intruder!" Worst cackled. From behind her ear, she threw a small ball at the puppet. Once it landed, a high-pitched sound echoed from it.

The puppet stopped. It twisted around, as if confused.

But that was all it took.

"Time to say nighty-night, girl!" Worst laughed. She ran at superhuman speed towards the girl, who stared, too frightened to move, as she was about to get killed.

"NO!"

Blood splattered across the ground and the knife slashed not into the girl's head... but into Taurus's shoulder.

"Taurus!"

The girl stared up at him in shock and worry as blood dripped down onto her dress. "Wh-wha..."

Aquarius and Thalia had both reached his side at the same time. "What in the world were you thinking?" Aquarius demanded.

Taurus gritted his teeth as he clamped a hand onto the wound. "I'm fine."

Worst tried sneaking up on them, raising a sword out of her coat, but Thalia blocked her. "I don't think so!" She was furious. "How DARE you!"

The puppet seemed to have gotten over its initial confusion and was slowly regaining its senses. Worst looked between the puppet and a seething Thalia, and shrugged offhandedly. "Well, I guess that means it's time for me to go! I managed to draw a zodiac's blood, so that was pleasing." She flashed a wide smile at Taurus. "I hope to see you again soon."

"OH NO YOU DON'T-"

Worst threw a bomb onto the ground. Smoke billowed out of it and the sounds of confused people slowly started seeping in. The zodiacs all ran to where Taurus was lying on the ground. "We have to get you to Universe," Aquarius said, lifting him up.

"Um... mister... thank you!" the little girl said, bowing nervously.

Taurus smiled weakly at her. "It's no problem."

"You'd better hurry." The puppet spoke. "That knife was laced with poison. The slow-moving kind, but poison nonetheless."

"Thank you very much for telling us," Virgo said, bowing to the puppet as well.

"It's not a big deal. I have to go now. I hope your friend survives and I'm sorry I wasn't more of some use." After those words were spoken the puppet slowly melted back into a puddle of liquid metal and dripped back into a nearby pipe-just as the rune magic faded completely and the other kids rushed in. "What happened?!" Coach shouted immediately.

Mini blocked his way. "We'll be going now," Gary said, smiling. The crowd of kids started getting thicker and thicker.

"Scarlet, you've got a one-way teleportation device, right?" Glenn asked.

Scarlet nodded. "I know. Hold on tight, everybody!" She tossed her shining necklace onto the ground and the group was instantly teleported away.

--------------------------------

"Universe!"

Universe jolted up from his seat. "What's going on-oh, no no no no no..."

"I don't care how you do it," Aquarius said, voice growing slightly desperate. "Just get the poison out."

Universe nodded. "Got it. He looked at the other people. "Familiars, you're dismissed. Zodiacs, get out while I perform some magic."

Before the familiars could protest he snapped his fingers and they disappeared. The zodiacs, except for Aquarius, also got transported outside.

"Thalia's going to murder me later," Universe muttered as he pulled out some leaves from a jar. "But right now I have to focus and frankly a group of people staring over your shoulder isn't the most comforting. Lay him down here, my boy." He snapped his fingers again and a cushioned cot appeared. A second snap and Taurus was redressed in only a pair of pants. "There. Much better."

Universe took out the leaves and ground them magically, then spread them over the wound. "Now for the spell."

He closed his eyes and hovered his hands over the wound. "Dnuow siht ot evoba sdog eht no llac I."

As Aquarius watched in amazement, Universe's hands started to glow as well as the leaves. The leaves lifted off the wound and lengthened. "Laeh." At Universe's word the leaves seeped into the wound. The blood disappeared and the wound knitted itself back together. From out of the cut seeped out a green, icky stuff, which Universe took and put into a separate jar.

Taurus exhaled, and the light disappeared. He was completely healed. "Where... am I?"

Aquarius lept to his feet, eyes alight. "Taurus!"

Taurus sat up. "Is the assassin gone?"

"She is," Aquarius said, then gave him a hug. "If you ever do that again I swear I will kill you."

Taurus chuckled lightly. "Got it." He looked up to Universe. "Thank you, sensei."

Universe waved a careless hand. "It was nothing, really." He clapped and the rest of the zodiacs flooded in, instantly barraging Taurus with questions and comments.

"Quiet, quiet," Universe trilled. "Now, would someone please explain how this happened?"

Taking turns, the zodiacs relayed the events to Universe. His face darkened. "I see. I'll talk to Galaxia about it. I believe it's time for you to learn how to fight, my young zodiacs."

The zodiacs exchanged delighted looks.

"But before that... I think an extra security measure wouldn't hurt." Universe blew sharply into a whistle. "Huooootani!"

A moment later a red-haired girl, just a bit older than they were, appeared in the doorway. "Yes, sir?"

"Can you please go and tell Kan to come over here? I've already sent her a telepathic message to start investigating this Worst person, so she's probably working."

Huotani bowed. "Right away, sir."

"Um, who was that?" Leo voiced.

"That was my assitant/secretary," Universe explained. "Huotani."

"Oh."

Nobody really knew what to say then.

----------------------------------------------------------

See? Told ya we'd have action!

So, yes, that happened. Surrrprise!

For some reason, even though Taurus is my sign, I always choose him to be the one who gets injured or goes through the worst things. Don't ask why.

Oh yeah, and what do you think of Worst? Sadistic, isn't she? She's the one that made a small appearance at the end of the last chapter.

This is what Worst looks like: (actually it was this picture that inspired me to create her character and DamianWayneXme, I already know what you're thinking.)

She will appear again and will play a pretty prominent role in the story. So yeah, be prepared.

Universe's words meant: "I call on the Gods above to heal this wound" and "Heal" backwards.

Guys, guys, tell me the truth: do you think I'm rushing or do you think I'm stalling the action? Tell me in the comments below if you want more action or more details, that will help my worry a lot. :)

See you later,
