Chapter 3: The Reaper Leviathan

(Y/n) smiled.

The (hair-colored) human stood in satisfaction. They've been moving their equipments and resources from the Cyclop into the Precursor's Primary Containment Facility - making it a temporary base for (L/n).

It was a huge chamber, the walls - the same black polished steel - lined with alien computer equipment, electronics and machines that blinked and flickered with a life of their own. (Y/n)'s tools were awkwardly tossed in the corner next to Precursors' working bench.

"I hope the Precursors don't mind... not like they're returning any time soon."

And of course, the most important thing they brought was the "Stay Calm" Kitty Poster. Now this Precursors' Base felt more like home.

"There it goes... I need my Positive Mental Attitude!"

The Aquarium was perfectly calm, like a peaceful lake, and its soft murmurs were scarcely audible. Below the ruffled water surface were different fishes : they are small, yet fast. They swam peacefully leaving a small dart of golden enzyme.

The Sea Emperor swam slowly like it usually did for the past 1500 years within this Prison that was called an Aquarium. They've been here for as long as it gets - But Alas this time, the Emperor swam impatiently.

They've been thinking about the Human being that visits them - (Y/n)

They aren't like the Native of this planet. A Precursor is a precise and evolved being - they move strong, their steps are calculated. But the humans don't seem to function that way. (Y/n) would make casual miscalculation which would lead her/his to redo things again. But Whether it was a good treat or a bad one; the Emperor knew well what the Human owned but the Precursors didn't - emotions.

The Leviathan can sense (Y/n)'s fear, love, excitement and anger whenever they encounter something new. They would get amazed by the most colorful plants, they would flinch whenever a new creature approaches them.

'Are all 'humans' capable of sympathy?' Wondered the Emperor.

For the rest of the day, The Sea Emperor Leviathan would stare up at the platform from which (Y/n) always comes from, hoping that they would arrive soon. They were gone the whole day.

But Alas, no sound was heard nearby.

In the meantime: The Prawn Suit pitched and rolled like a frantic child thrashing about in the waters of the choppy and wallowing Sea.

(Y/n) held tight to the prawn suit railing, his/her knuckles white. Controlling the mechanical suit, they moved it forward into the depth of the ocean. Through squinting eyes , (L/n) drank in the sight of the waves, the garish lights of the surface is barely reaching. The Human Survivor was now bellow 400m below the ocean surface, in search of a Sea Crown sample.

"It's awfully quiet in here... something's fishy" - (L/n) made a horrible pun, despite the gloomy atmosphere. Speaking of fishes - there were barely any around... that could mean only one thing.

That's a Reaper territory.

The roaring and pounding obliterated all other sounds and (Y/n)'s mind was awash with exhilaration. Where ever it was - it was roaming in circles , making (Y/n) hard to indicate from which side the Leviathan is Coming. Her/his muscles had frozen in place, there was no running away.

The (Gender) moved their prawn suit faster, they had to swim a little closer to get to a cave system which contained those Sea Crowns plants. Upon smelling the Human's fear - a Serpent like monster noticed the moving vehicle.

With a monstrous Roar, a Reaper Leviathan launched at (Y/n), digging It's Blood Red claws at the Prawn Suit.

"Oh GOD NO-!" - the Human shrieked horror, they were so close to the plant.

Red lights and PDA warnings flashed everywhere around (Y/n).

The Prawn Suit hooped and hollered to the Reaper as if it's raw power was crashing the mechanism. Four eyeballs stared into the (Gender)'s (eye-color) one's , it roared in anger, showing it many sets of sharp teeth.

"no no NO! GET AWAY FROM ME YOU-"

A drill arm smashed onto the Red Leviathan's face, sending the Reaper a wave of pain. The glass of the Prawn Suit started to shatter, letting in some water - the suit won't be able to handle Reaper's claws any more, and all that stood between (Y/n) and the damned creature was the vehicle.

"JUST GO AWAY... YOU PEBBLE!"

Just Before the Monster could launch himself for the final blow, an inhuman soundwave washed between the Reaper and the (Gender).

A delicate , yet forceful lights washed in (Y/n)'s eyes - purple and blues. They danced between their vision, emitting small murmurs and roars. As if a different creature was interfering telepathically, rather than physically.

Whatever it may be, the Reaper Leviathan sensed it, and immediately let go of the Prawn Suit leaving scratches and holes onto the vehicle. Without a second glance at (Y/n), the Serpent Alien left as it trailed away into the depth of the ocean.

The ocean was quite again.

"... what."

"Hello...? I'm back."

A small figure glided within the Aquarium upon their entrance. The Human Survivor came back to the base after a long journey of searching the Sea Crown. (Y/n) didn't even bother to swim, they just let the water engulf their body and pull them downward.

'You came.'

The Sea Emperor spoke, their gaze following the (Gender) who stayed at the sand floor. The Giant Creature could tell, they were tired - exhausted. To indicate simple support, the Emperor Leviathan decided to lay nearby the human to take a closer look. Giant claws layed down near as their tendrils swayed back and forth in the back.

"I was doing some research, and I started to collect some flora that may come in handy for the recipe in the future..." (Y/n) stayed still nearby the Emperor's head, her/his arms hugging her/his knees.

(Y/n) looked down at the sand, but the Sea Emperor stayed close. The Creature came suddenly upon a human sitting in an attitude of profound distress, The hands of this human were stiff with fatigue - His/Her eyes were red, while his/her face was wet with tears.

"But it seems that some things require me to go directly onto the Reaper's nest... I took a risky move."

'You did well. More than you might imagine.'

"It was too close! I just collected some samples fearing that it might come again... I must think of something else rather than jump into my death so fast!" - Her/his sigh was of a softly deflation; it was as if a tension had lifted yet left her/him with a melancholy instead of relief.

The Huge Leviathan shifted its paddle-like claws closer to the human body, the sand shifting beneath them. Soft yet raspy murmurs followed, like music to comfort the sadness that engulfed the poor (Y/n)

'Reapers are fast hunters. It's hunger is unavoidable comparing to it's anger. Bring it food, and I promise - it won't harm you ever again.'

"Bring it food...? Wait, you telling me to feed it? By myself? These thing attack everything they see - they see me as food!"

'They are hostile. But they are no different than the others, I assure you.'

The Emperor's voice was ghost-like, quite and assertive. Their two antennas lights a warm light down onto (L/n)'s face allowing the colossal Leviathan observe her/his expression. (Y/n) gulped - that's a ridiculous idea. But she/he couldn't care now, they just wanted to rest. It was a long day, and there's more to come.

Resting on two large mandibles on each side of The Emperor's small mouth, (L/n) muttered below her breath

"Hey, Thank you for saving me today..."

"A Sea Crown sample has been collected."
