The Bank

I ran almost 20 blocks to the Gotham City Bank, smiling happily as I thought about the possibility of everything falling into place.

When I got there alarms hadn't gone off, yet, so I still had time. I opened the cloudy glass door to find Joker holding a child at gunpoint and Harley filling up a dozen duffel bags with cash as their henchman were keeping an eye on everyone.

When I had entered I must've startled them because a bullet whizzed past my shoulder and hit the wall behind my head. I glanced at the hole in the beige wall before turning back towards the man who shot me. I raised an eyebrow and sneered.

"Is that the best you can do?" I asked, strutting over to the crowd of people. "Do you have any idea who I am?"

"Mad Hatter!" I heard Joker laugh. He shook the child he was hurting and whispered in his ear, "You're so dead, now." He began to walk towards me happily.

People were screaming, but Joker cocked the gun and most of them quieted themselves. The few stragglers were hushed by other people aggressively.

"What are you doing here?" I asked in distress. "Leave these people alone." Joker gave me a sideways glance, but I wouldn't stop pushing. "I need to talk to you, it can't wait." He rolled his eyes at me and motioned to the people around him.

      "I'm kinda busy, Maddie."

"I don't care! Did you know someone kidnapped me?!" I yelled to him. I grabbed a fistful of my blonde hair and stomped my foot. I may have been acting like a child, but I had no other way to express how I was feeling. "Someone hurt me, Mister J! You're supposed to pro--"

"Blah blah blah! Do ya have any idea what you sound like?" Harley had thrown in the last stack of cash when she turned around, crossing her arms and pulling her revolver from the holster on her hip. "I'm so sick of all your yapping! The only one Mistah J cares about it me!"

She pointed her gun at me.

I put my hands up, opening my eyes, trying to mentally tell her to stop acting crazy. Everyone in the room was dead silent, staring at us incredulously. Harley began to waltz toward me, with her cotton candy pigstails swing behind her. She had a wicked smile plastered on her face and I was too shocked to move. Once she stopped walking the muzzle was touching my forehead, still warm from the last time she must've pulled the trigger.

"H-Harley?" I whimpered. "Why are you doing this? I thought we were family."

"Are you dense?" She brought the gun back and hit me across the face with it. I could feel blood running down my cheek, and I still couldn't bring myself to fight back. "We don't want you anymore! You were a sex toy for Puddin', and I made easy money selling you out. But, now you've got your brain back and you wanna act like you haven't been hoeing your way through the Justice League!"

She cocked the gun, licking her lips viciously.

"It was you..." My breath hitched in my throat and I couldn't swallow. My whole throat felt like it was swelling up. "You did this to me. You kidnapped me. You--" I broke into a run towards the cloudy glass doors. I heard two gunshots go off. One of them missed, but the other hit me in my left shoulder.

As I screamed in pain, the hostages began to scream as well. They started climbing over each other, trying to escape.

The sound of a full round of ammo deafened my ears, making me pause in my tracks and turn around. Blood was running all over the floor. Almost every person had been shot and the remaining were crying and screaming for help.

I gasped as I fell to my knees, trying to control my breathing. When I did, Joker came to me, putting his crotch right in front of my face. He ran his hands through my hair, making my spine shiver. "You were always such a good pet, Dolly. Made me wonder why you ever left us." He got down on his knees, staring into my eyes. "Why aren't you crying?"

       "What?"

"Why. Aren't. You. Crying?" He pointed to all the dead people on the ground. "This just let's me know you were crazy even before we tortured you."

I stood up, my knees shaking. He got up with me and we never broke eye contact. Before I could do anything he had me by the back of the neck and began kissing me. With his whole tongue, using both of his hands to hold me close to him, knowing I couldn't push with the bullet wound in one arm.

I began to cry. My heart dropped into my stomach as memories of every single thing they had done to me flooded into my head. My headache was unbearable. I felt like I was being dragged into a tornado, being whipped around and having the air sucked right from my lungs. My vision began to blur, like black ink had covered my eyes. A feeling of shock had surged through my body and I lost control.

       I was having a seizure.
