chapter 4

"I can't feel my fingers" she said between the clattering of her teeth. She covered her hands with her sleeves but her fingertips numbed from the cold. Winter had grown intense those days.

"Stop being dramatic it's not that cold" he said rolling his eyes. The duo walked down the path of their neighborhood with a destination only known to the man who refused to say a thing. The cold freezing her while it soothed him.

"If.. if you are immune to the cold that doesn't mean everyone is" she said plastering her cold hand against his neck making him jolt away.

"Now you feel it" she said blowing on her hands.

He glared at her making her shrug her shoulders. She kept rubbing her hands moving them around to induce blood circulation.

"Dramay" he said taking her hands in his rubbing them. Her heart fluttered as he rubbed and blowed on her fingers tickling them.
(OverDramatic)

Her ocean eye met his warm chocolate ones. Time stopped for them as his movement slowed and hold tightened. Her heart fluttered remembering what her mother had talked to her about.

Her parents had called her to their room saying that it's time they a talk. Well the topic of the talk was how they were thinking about her and Micheal getting married. Her first reaction was to burst out laughing. But after a while it as confirmed that this was not a joke she had only laughed louder.

"We're not joking. He's a nice boy with a humble personality. Just think about it, you and him both know eachother better than your parents even. Just give it a thought." They had said. Her mother had placed her hand on hers squeezing it giving her an assuring look.

"Why can't you be like him? Look he's warming his wife's hands and then there's you. They're so cute aren't they?" they snapped out of their thoughts by the sound of a girl complaining.

They looked over to see a couple walking past them, the girl gushed smiling widely at them as they walked away making them look back to eachother. She could see him holding her hand just like this for the rest of her life. She had given it a thought and she couldn't lie to her since her everything started and ended with Micheal in it. She blinked her gaze away from his.

"Ew" she said jolting away from him as if struck by lightning.

"Cute or yeh. Baji aapki aankhein kharab Hain?" She said gesturing to him.
(Cute and him. Sister are you eyes not working right?)

"Tumhare baare me bhi mere aise hi kuch khayalat hain" he said walking away. He smiled at the thought waiting to here her footsteps behind him.
(I also have the same thoughts about you?)

"Tumse kisi ne pooche hain tumhare khayalat?" She said standing where she stood not following him. She scrunched her nose at his back crossing her arms over her chest.
(Did anyone ask about your thoughts?)

He kept walking forward until later when he didn't feel her jogging behind him. He looked back to see her going the other way.

"Now where are you going?" He yelled making her wave him off.

"Laila" he yelled running after her. Hearing his footsteps she started running faster, laughing at him. Her steps halted as she heard the loud blaring of a horn. Her eyes widened as she looked to her right where a car came screeching diagonally on the road.

"Stop. Laila" he yelled pulling her back before the car could drive over the side walk and run over her instead of the street lamp. He pulled her into his chest hiding her eyes away from the scene.

"Are you okay?" He asked but her eyes were stuck on the bloodied body that rolled out of the shattered window of the car.

"Laila." He said shaking her out of it. Her eyes snapped to his as she nodded shakily. Her face paler than before as lips white as paper.

"I.. want to sit down" She said after numerous tries, her legs wobbling making her take his support.

"Here sit here" he said making her sit on a cement bench near them.

"Insaano waale kaam Kia Karo. Kia paglon ki tarah bhaagna shuru hogaye thi" he whisper yelled.
(Act human for once. Why did you start running like a mad woman)

"Footpath pe bhaag rahi thi konsa road pe utar Gaye thi me. Aur mujhe Kia pata tha ke footpath pe gaari charhane ka naya trend aya hai" she yelled as loud as she could with the shortness of breath.
(I was running on the footpath not on the road. And how would I know there's a new trend of driving on the footpath)

"You're hopeless" he sighed making her jerk her head to the side.

"I want to go home" she said.

"Haan tu jao kisne roka hai?" he said rolling his eyes.
(So go who's stopping you?)

"Yeh kaanpti Hui taango ke saath jaaon me Ghar. Rikshaw Kara ke do" she said moving her hands wildly.
(Shall I go home with these wobbling legs. Get an auto)

"Ya Allah save me now and for the rest of my life." Muttering under his breath he hailed an auto and told him the address. He helped her in and got in after her.

"Where are you taking me? This isn't the way to my house" she yelled turning to him.

"Will you shut up?" Micheal gritted.

"Larki ko agwa karraha hai tum?" The driver spoke in a heavy pushto accent.
(You're kidnapping the girl?)

"Nahi bhai. Aap bus chalen iska tu dimag kharab hai" he said gesturing for the man to keep driving.
(No brother. You just drive she's lost her mind)

"Mera dimag kharab hai? Mera? Tum-"
(I've lost my mind? Me? You-)

"Mene bhi wahi kaha hai. Sab ko Pat hai tum pagal ho" he said making her hit him on his shoulder. He grunted holding her hands in unabling any of her movement.
(I've said the same thing. Everyone knows you're a psycho)

He asked the man to stop at busy beans for a minute since it was in their way, Micheal went inside and got her something to eat and a coffee, along with a water bottle from the wending machine. She was somewhat pleased with the offering and stopped hitting him. After a long drive full of her screaming profanities at him they were dropped off at the beach. The cold air made her pull his jacket off him forcefully.

"What are yo-" he was startled by the sudden attack. He was stripped off if his jacket which was soon worn by her. It was ten times bigger on her hiding her figure in it.

The brown fleece hung on her from shoulder to mid thigh, sleeves hanging from her hands.

"I'm certain that with every second you're loosing brain cells" he said hiding his smile behind a scowl. She looked adorable with her hood covering her head and his jacket eating her up.

"It's not my fault that you have decided to bring me to the beach that too when it's about to get dark. But I'm also excited." She grinned bouncing on her toes.

They walked on the sand to a secluded spot. The sun was setting in the horizon and they were walking along the shore. He shivered a little in his white turtle neck. He blowed on his hands trying to warm them making her snicker at him.

"Dramay" she mimicked taking his hands in hers. She pulled his hands in the sleeves of the jacket filling the hanging space. Her warm hand held his. She blowed on top of the sleeves warming them.
(Dramatic)

He grinned at her holding her hand from inside tightly making her look up to him. His eyes glimmered with the golden hue of the setting sun.

Her heart did a somersault at the sight of the sun kissing his skin making it appear golden. The aura around them was making her feel jittery inside.

He pulled her forward making her stumble towards him. Her eyes widened at him kneeling down. She froze, her eyes widened.

"We'll continue but first let me tie my laces" Micheal smirked seeing her face grow red, he let go of her hands and looked down tying his shoelaces. Her mouth hung open as she burned red in embarrassment. She looked away cringing at the thoughts her mother had put into her innocent mind.

"Laila"

"Hm" she hummed almost immediately. She still chewed on her lip looking everywhere but him who still kneeled down infront of her.

"I'm done" he said looking up at her. She didn't look at him, instead nodded hurriedly.

"Yeah let's go" she said walking away from him. Her heart beats loudly against her ribcage reflection her face.

"Listen here you little shit." He pulled her back on her previous place.

"I'm done being your friend. I'm done waiting in that cafe just to see your stupidly annoying, adorable, and beautiful face all I want to do keep gazing at you like a creep, I'm done with having to wait to see you. I want to see you twenty four seven. Enough is enough." He said making her look at him as if he'd lost his mind. She mouthed a 'what even' at him making him sigh.

"Are you okay Micheal?" She asked placing her hand on his forehead.

"Woman, I have feeling for you and about time you realize that. I like you. I like since the very first time I saw you and I love since you stood up for your morals and yourself against all odds. I love you. More than a friend would, I dare you friend zone me and I'll drown you in the fucking sea" he said sighing at the end. It was hard saying all that. The sweet speech he had prepared went down the drain looking her face. He felt the self control slipping as he blurted out whatever came in his mind.

"You're joking? Oh... Doraemon you're playing me so well and I'm falling for it" she said grinning at him.

"Does it look like I'm joking? I'm literally kneeling down on one knee and it hurts like hell. I. Michael Raza. Love you. Laila Chaudhary. From the bottom of my heart and I want to make you mine. Mine in every sense of the world." She stood frozen as the grin ceased on her face. Her face flushed, her heart raced and her mind screamed for her to say yes and fall in his arms.

She thought about it. She thought it through. It was sudden but did she regret it? Did she want her life any other way? No. She could give this a chance. She wanted to give this a chance.

"Laila Chaudhary. Will you marry me? Will you be my midget for the rest of our lives? I'll do anything for you. I swear I will. I will not get a cat but I'll do everything just not that" he said making her narrow her eyes at him.

"Hurry up my knee hurts. So...." He said making her roll her eyes.

"Fine. I'll marry you." She said shrugging, she flicked her nail as if not effected by his confession at all.

"You what?"

"What part of yes Micheal Raza I'll marry you did you not understand?" She asked looking at him bored.

"Oh.." he said taking the ring out only now. He slid the silver band on her ring finger. Thin but delicate.

"That's all I could get you for now" he said rubbing his nape.

"It's perfect" she grinned looking at the ring.

"What about our parents?" She asked making him grin at her.

"That's all sorted" he said making her grin wider at him.....
