Chapter 20
We aren't 'just friends', are we?" She says as soon as they stop. Johnny looks at her, stunned. "Johnny you hesitated at the hospital when you answered my question before, please answer me truthfully now. What are we?"
"Ok, ok I like you, I have had feelings for you since I saw you laid up in the hospital the first time, and-
"Johnny. All I needed to hear was 'I like you'."
"I didn't say anything because I thought that you would just agree with me on everything because of the pain meds. I didn't mean to hurt you." Johnny explains.
Karla looks at the animal in front of her. "You apologize way too much." She grabs his jacket, pulls him down to his level and kisses him on the cheek. (Ha! You thought!) "I like you too." Johnny starts stuttering like an idiot, and is, thankfully, cut off from more embarrassment when the light dim down for a second. Karla looks up to the lights. "It's showtime, let's go." She looks back at him only to notice him just staring at her in a daze. "Johnny. Johnny!" He moves her paws to his cheeks. He blinks and actually looks at her. "We can talk more after the performances, okay?" He nods and wraps his arm around her shoulder and they head over to where Buster has gathered the other cast members.
"Ah, good, the lovebirds have decided to join us." Buster smirks while the two blush through their fur and everyone around them chuckle. "Okay, guys, listen up. Look, I gotta tell ya, um...there's not much of an audience out there, tonight. But you know what? It doesn't matter. It really doesn't. 'Cuz tonight is our night. And whatever happens, I want you all to know how proud I am to be a part of this with you." He addresses as he climbs onto a sandbag.
"Good luck Mr. Moon." Rosita tells him.
Good luck everyoooooooo–" Buster is shot up to the rafters on the sandbag. The cast looks over to Eddie, who is leaning on the lever.
"Oops. Eh-Sorry, just dropped the cue there. Don't worry. I-I'm gonna get the hang of this." The sheep responds, patting the rope.
Above them, Buster balances on the rafters. He tip-toes over to the crescent moon. He takes a breath. "Here we go." Eddie cues up the music and starts to lower the moon. "All creatures great and small, welcome to the- oh- hello there." Buster realizes he is facing the wrong way. He quickly, but safely turns around as the piglets and the news anchor laugh at his expense. "Welcome to our newly refurbished open air theater...."
Backstage, Rosita and Gunter are getting ready. Rosita is wearing her normal outfit and adds a blue and white checkered apron. She places a microphone into her ear. "You ready, big guy?" She asks.
Gunter pops up and does some final stretches, still in his golden tracksuit. "Yah. I'm like totally ready."
"Alright." She picks up a basket full of different colored fabrics. "Let's do this." She heads out to the stage. Gunter heading to his position, stripping out of the track suit.
"...Gunter and Rosita." Buster finishes his introduction as the crescent moon prop rises and the curtain opens to reveal a kitchen setting with a dryer added. Rosita walks across the stage, holding the basket of fabrics. The music starts and she sets the basket down beside the dryer, wiping nonexistent sweat from her brow.
"I stay out too late.
Got nothing in my brain.
That's what people say mmm mmm.
That's what people say mmm mmm."
As she sings, she takes out the 'clothes' from the dryer, revealing Gunter inside.
"I go on too many dates,
but I can't make them stay.
That's what people say mmm mmm,
that's what people say mmm mmm."
Gunter starts his lyrics off in a high pitch mocking type tone, making the audience laugh and Buster looks out from the wing, worried. Gunter then pops his head out the top of the dryer and his arms out the side so he can twirl his dance partner. The news anchor looks to his cameraman and asks, "Are you getting this?" Rosita spins to the other end of the stage where the refrigerator is and does some dance moves with Gunter while she sings her lyrics.
"But I keep cruising'
Can't stop won't stop movin'
It's like I've got this music in my mind
Saying it's gonna be alright."
Gunter spins her again but only to the other side of him, letting her lightly fall into his arm. She smiles at him before spinning once more to her original position. After her last line, Gunter bags his bald up trotters to the beat of the claps on the music track. Rosita sends out a wink to the audience before going behind the cardboard fridge to change. As she does this, Eddie turns on and off the spotlight, showing off Rosita's silhouette as she changes her costume and scribble scratches the mix board. (Had to spend 5 minutes just understanding what he was doing) Once Rosita finished getting ready, the set and sheets covering her blow away, revealing Rosita in a black sequin showgirl outfit. Norman and the piglets' jaws hit the floor. Eddie continues the song with a dubstep feel to it.
"I never miss a beat,
I'm lightning on my feet.
And that's what people say mmm mmm,
That's what people say mmm mmm."
Rosita struts forward to meet up with Gunter. She points to him, alerts Eddie to pause the music a couple of beats. Gunter breaks out of the cardboard dryer prop, screaming as he does so, and shows off his leotard of the same fabric as Rosita's.
"Players gonna play, play, play, play, play
And the hatters gonna hate, hate, hate, hate, hate
Baby, I'm just gonna shake, shake, shake, shake, shake
I shake it off, I shake it off."
As they are dancing and singing, Mike walks past a crowd on the street. They are all watching the live broadcast of the performance. "Aren't they great!?" A cat asks some animals in the crowd.
"What, are you kidding me? It's like watching jello dancing around." Mike responds.
"Oh, like you cando any better, pipsqueak." The cat retorts, the crowd laughing along with him.
"Alright, alright, alright, hey. You wanna see somthin' great. I'll show you great..." Mike marches off while the crowd continues to laugh.
"Heart breakers gonna break"
"Fakers gonna fake."
"I'm just gonna shake."
"I shake it off, I shake it off
I shake it off, I shake it off
I, I, I shake it off, I shake it off
I, I, I shake it off, shake it off
I, I, I shake it off, I shake it off
I, I, I shake it off, I shake it off
I, I, I shake it off, I shake it off
I, I, I, shake it off, I shake it off
I, I, I, shake it off, I shake it off"
Gunter and Rosita do a couple dance moves before running off to opposite ends of the stage. Rosita turns, pauses for a moment before they rush towards each other, doing a cartwheel as they do so. He picks her up and spins her around a few times before tossing her up in the air, her spinning once more, then catches her. He spins her around holding on to her trotters before letting go, sliding her on her legs and ending the dance.
As the song finishes, the unofficial couple cheer and all the piglets rush the stage to tackle their mother. "Kids! No! Back to your seats! Show's still-"
"Okay, okay....Norman!" Rosita yells. her husband blinks, coming out of a love struck trance. He rushes to the stage, sweeps her off her trotters and kisses her passionately.
"Alright! Piggy power! Ha ha!" Gunter cheers from the side, while Karla and Meena gush at the sight. The piglets swamp them both and the audience is in hysterics. Eddie lowers the curtain but one of the piglets pop through. "That was great."
