TWO ▶ TEAM FAYMON

chapter two

❧ ❧ ❧

Faye Daniels, in the duration of two weeks, mourned parents she did not remember, studied her butt off so she could pass an entry exam to become a junior in high-school, passed it, and begun her new life. She wasted no time to conform to the human lifestyle she was sure she once knew, and she didn't mind it. She wanted to bite the head off of her math teacher sometimes and other students, but playing dainty human worked well for her. Stefan got her in to volunteer work and she slowly was on her way to becoming the golden child of Mystic Falls.

She didn't have to play the role that day, though. Faye could be her hybrid self and do whatever she wanted. What she wanted to do, on the sunny day in Mystic Falls, was sleep in. Damon Salvatore will not ever allow her to do what she wanted, though.

"Good morning," Damon spoke up, causing her to crack open her eyes. He laid in bed next to her, his usual cocky grin on his face. She huffed, shutting it again.

  "Get out of my room."

Damon clicked his tongue and shook his head no. "This is my house, so this room is mine too."

"I don't care," Faye groaned out. "Go away."

"You're not a morning person are you, little red?" The vampire asked, pulling a pout. Faye rolled her eyes at him, especially at what he had called her.

  "I don't like that nickname."

"What about Amnesia?" She hated him. Faye kept quiet as Damon patiently waited for her to balk at the nickname. She would have, but she wasn't going to give him the satisfaction. "There's no protest."

The hybrid sat up fully and narrowed her eyes down at him. "What do you want?"

"You're getting out for the day," he said, demanding rather than offering. "We got invited to a BBQ and we're going to stick some silver in to Mason Lockwood, just to see if it works."

"Sounds like you got it planned out."

  "I do."

"Sorry I can't attend, though," she lied straight through her teeth. Faye slid out of her bed, making sure to adjust the pjs she wore carefully. Damon moved to sit up and watched as she crossed the floor of her room. "Got to go to school."

"It's the weekend," Damon countered, smirking. She silently cursed herself for thinking it would work as an excuse. "Also, you don't willingly go to school. Stefan had to drag you the other day because you didn't want to see people."

Faye whirled around at the mention of the incident and threw her hands up in the air. "They ask questions about being missing and keep saying 'I'm sorry'," she defended herself. "It's been two weeks since I found out. I mourned people I couldn't remember. They can stop having fake sympathy. Also, that doesn't even include the shy ones who stare at me like I'm a freak."

"I knew school was a bad idea."

"The learning is fine, I just wish everyone except the people who know not to ask stupid questions would go poof." She motioned her hands as if she were making an explosion. Damon cracked a genuine smile, one that could barely be seen. Faye caught him, though, and kept it placed in the back of her head.

"You're just the Mystic Falls scandal of the week," he told her, waving his hand. "Give it a week and they will all forget you and start talking about the newest hot gossip."

"Really?" Faye asked hopefully.

"Yes." He nodded. "So, BBQ?" Damon clapped his hands together excitedly

  "No."

  "Elena will be there."

  "Eh."

"Come on," he whined, "it'd be a good time to test your control."

"I have control," Faye responded, crossing her arms over her chest. "That's why Stefan let me go to school."

She wasn't going to let up on it. Damon sighed at her stubbornness, trying to think of a way to convince her.

"I'll teach you how to feed on humans." That got her attention. She perked up, her eyebrows raised at him. Faye had only been allowed animal blood or from a bag ever since she had begun living at the Salvatore boarding house. Stefan didn't have control feeding on humans so he could not teach her, neither would Caroline as she preferred feeding from the bag herself.

"Warm, fleshy humans rather than those gross blood bags," Damon continued on.

  "You will?"

  "Cross my heart."

Faye hesitated for a moment, thinking. Damon kept his eyes on her, waiting for an answer.

There was a sudden blur around the room and, the sounds of draws slamming open and close. Before Damon even knew it, there was a dressed strawberry blonde yanking him out of bed excitedly.

"You kept bugging me about the barbecue and now you're the one lagging. Let's go."

Damon shook his head at her, but followed along. "Whatever you say, Amnesia."

❧ ❧ ❧

The Grill was never a quiet place and it made Faye's ears hurt. She was used to the over-sensitive noises of the forest, but she did not know when she would get used to those of the social world. Chatter from every direction hit her and she scrunched up her nose in annoyance.

Damon's eyes flickered to her when he saw her scratch at her ears in irritation. The pointed look he gave was enough for her stop, reminding herself it wasn't as socially acceptable then as it had been before.

"What are we doing here?" Faye asked him as he led them over to the counter. "I thought we were going to a barbecue."

"We are. I just need to pick up something before we head there." Damon gave a tight-lipped smile, filled with more annoyance rather than anything. The hybrid only grumbled to herself in response.

A waiter soon came up and assisted the two, taking their order for a take-out peach cobbler. Faye nearly groaned hearing the would have to wait in store for a while, wanting to get the day over with as soon as possible. She wanted her bribe and then for it to be over with.

The waiter walked away from them with a smile plastered on his face, leaving two alone. Faye turned towards Damon with a frown. "Peach cobbler?"

"Jenna, the host, doesn't like me much," he explained. "Hoping this might help."

"Does anyone like you?" Faye questioned. She hadn't witnessed a single person since her shift be welcoming towards Damon, except maybe her history teacher who had only been somewhat kind.

He ignored her, his eyes darting around the rest of the Grill. They finally stopped, planting on the brunette sitting alone. He lit up at the sight of her.

"Speaking of people that don't like you," Faye muttered, seeing Elena Gilbert herself.

  "Shut it, Faye."

She should have known Damon would drag her over to the table as he couldn't resist the chance to bother anyone. The second the two walked up, Elena seemed like she wanted to bang her head against the table. She attempted to wear a good face, though.

"Hi, Faye," Elena greeted the girl. The strawberry blonde gave her an awkward grin and a small wave in return. The Gilbert then turned to Damon, the smile she wore disappearing. "What do you want?"

"So, this is where you spend your time when you're not stabbing people in the back," Damon spat out at her.

Elena sighed at his words, grabbing her bag and pushing it on to her shoulder. She stood up from her chair. "I tricked you into telling me the truth," she said to him, "that's not stabbing you in the back, it's using your own tactics against you."

"Where are you going?" Faye asked her when she moved around the two immortals.

"I made myself clear to Damon," Elena answered, her glare boring in to the said man. "I want nothing to do with him."

Faye swore there was a flicker of hurt that flashed across his face, not that he would ever admit it. Damon only shrugged it off as she began to walk away. "Okay. See you at Jenna's barbecue."

Elena paused in her tracks and turned to see him. "How did you know about Jenna's barbecue?" Her eyes narrowed in suspicion.

"It was my idea," he boasted, proud of himself for his scheming skills. "Jenna went to high school with Mason Lockwood so I figured a social gathering would be a good way to get to know the guy. So I told Rick to told Jenna and..."

"Does Jenna knows that you're going to be there because she's not exactly a fan of yours?"

As if on cue, the waiter came up with Damon's cobbler and handed it to him. The Salvatore offered a thank-you before taking it in to his own hands.

Faye glanced down at it before her eyes moved back up to Elena. "He thinks this is going to make her like him?" She said, questioning it herself.

"Plus, I did just take in a lonely orphan and am guiding her through life itself." Damon reached to pinch the strawberry blonde's cheeks, only earning a growl of warning. He backed off with a chuckle escaping his lips.

Elena was not having any of it, her hands placed on her hips as she continued to interrogate him. "What are you up to?"

"I'm gonna put some silver into Mason Lockwood and prove he is a werewolf," he reveled with a happy smile. "See you at the barbecue."

Faye didn't even get the chance to say goodbye before she was once again pulled away by Damon out of the Grill. She hoped what she was going through was worth feeding on humans.

❧ ❧ ❧

The Gilbert house's door was unlocked when Damon and Faye arrived, allowing one of them to enter easily. Damon stepped over the door frame with ease, but the second his companion tried to herself, she hit a barrier.

Faye frowned when she couldn't step over, moving her hand up to pressed against what was keeping her from moving. She laid her hand flat against it, staring at it in wonder. Being an undead creature of the night had rules, she knew that. Stefan had previously sat her down and explained how being a vampire worked, making sure to include everything, even if they weren't sure it applied to her. She could walk in the sun without a daylight ring, an ability no normal vampire had, but it seemed needing a invitation in to homes still applied for a hybrid.

"Shit," Damon cursed seeing her situation. Her eyes flickered towards him, her brows raised high. "I forgot you weren't invited in yet."

"So, what do I do?" Faye grumbled with her hand tapping against the barrier once again.

  "Stay here. I'll get, Elena."

  "Wait, Damon-"

He was gone in to the home, her protest either not being heard or blatantly ignored. Faye was sure it was the latter. Her hand curled into a fist against the barrier before she threw it to her side.

It wasn't long before Elena passed by the door, a sigh of disappointment escaping her.

"Did he really leave you out here by yourself?" The doppelganger questioned. The hybrid only shrugged. "Come on in."

Faye hesitated to step over the threshold, unsure if she would pass through even with the invitation. Elena patiently watched her with a raised brow and she waved to encourage her to cross. The strawberry blonde slowly took at step, her foot hitting flat against the hardwood flooring of the Gilbert home. A small smile stretched across her at being able to enter.

"Alright, cool," Elena muttered once Faye was inside. "Caroline and I are hanging out in the living room until everyone's done getting drunk. You can come hang with us after you introduce yourself."

Elena led her to the kitchen where the attendees surrounded the island counter. Faye only knew two of those in the room; one being her history teacher, Alaric and Damon himself. The woman, who Faye was sure was Jenna, was knocking shots back left and right, keeping her sight on the raven haired vampire across the room and another man.

Faye could smell it on him; the same smell she got from her opponent the night she shifted. She had tasted him in her mouth as she had tore at his throat. The man who shook Damon's hand as he introduced himself was their target; the werewolf, Mason Lockwood. She kept her eyes trained on Mason as he played the roll of welcoming new friend, but kept tense shoulders all the same.

  "-Damon Salvatore."

"I've heard great things about you-"

"From who?" Faye interjected. All eyes turned towards the hybrid with her brows furrowing. "No one in town likes him from what I hear."

Jenna nearly choked on her shot, coughing into her hand. "Oh my god," she said in surprise. The woman looked up at Faye and let out a chuckle. "I like you already."

❧ ❧ ❧

As the barbecue came to a start, Faye strayed herself from the adults the moment after she introduced herself. The alcohol had begun to irritate her senses and she wasn't too interested in hanging around a werewolf she had previously fought and defeated. She came to join Caroline and Elena in the living room, instead, eventually gravitating to the front porch as the doppelganger attempted to call Stefan.

Faye and Caroline sat side by side on the front step, both shoving their faces with potato chips. Their hands collided as they both went for a potato chip. The blonde scrunched up her nose at the other girl before giving her a grin.

"Are you still trying to call Stefan?" Faye asked when she heard Elena sigh once again behind her. She shifted around to look at the Gilbert girl.

"Yeah, he hasn't called me back," she responded. "I'm trying to decide if I should be worried."

"I'm sure he's fine." Even with Faye's attempt to assure her, Elena still did not seem convinced. She kept her worry etched across her face.

"God, I can't stop eating," Caroline groaned out, interrupting the two. Faye and Elena turned to see her shoving another hand full of chips into her mouth. "Stefan says it's a great way to sublimate the cravings. It's horrible just fighting the urge for blood every minute of every day."

"That must suck," Faye muttered. While she had cravings, she could keep them much under control. In the wild, she would only eat when she had to, making sure there would be food for the next time around. She always wanted more, surely, but to survive she could not indulge in herself.

"I know that Stefan really hates that part of himself." Elena said, plopping down next to Faye.

"Yeah and he hates that you're a constant temptation," Caroline continued.

"He said that?" Elena's face dropped.

"The desire to rip out your jugular every time he's with you?" The blonde vampire let out a scoff. "Trust me, it's there. It's why I had to break up with Matt."

Faye could feel Elena's shoulder's sag slowly next to her as Caroline rattled on. It didn't make sense on why the blonde vampire could be making the comments, but she knew they were hitting the doppelganger harshly.

"Stefan's been with Elena for a long time, right?" Faye raised her brow at Caroline "He hasn't ripped out her jugular yet. She may be a temptation or whatever, but he wouldn't ever hurt her." Her eyes flickered towards the girl in mention. "Don't worry about it."

An appreciative smile made its way to Elena's face at Faye's words. "Thanks."

"Food's ready!" Alaric's loud call interrupted, a saving grace for the three girls in the midst of the most awkward conversation. Faye jumped up quickly, darting right in to the house at the mention of food.

❧ ❧ ❧

Pictionary was a human game she didn't quite understand, but she played along the moment a burger was shoved in to her hands. Once the burger was gone, though; she was over it.

Faye watched with a dull expression as Damon took his turn, taking the marker to create his own picture. The drawing of a wolf in a tutu Damon had placed on the whiteboard didn't make any sense to her and it surely didn't make much sense to their drunk host either. Faye could see, though, that the other werewolf in the room eyebrow twitched as the vampire attempted get a rifle out of him.

  "Dress!" Jenna called out. "Ballerina."

Damon shook his head wildly, moving his hand around the picture.

"Puppy! Puppy with a tutu!" The wrong answer came from Caroline.

  "A dog! Hound-dog!"

"Dances with wolves." Faye looked over towards Mason Lockwood, his answer coming out in a defeated sigh. Damon grinned widely at him.

  "Mason wins; again."

"How is that a wolf?" Jenna scoffed out, throwing her hand up. Damon only shrugged and plopped down besides Faye as Mason went up to take his turn.

Under her breath, low enough for only those with enhanced hearing to hear, she muttered, "Way to make it obvious."

  "That's the point," Damon snarked.

  "It's a stupid point."

  "You think everything is stupid."

"Because so far it is." Faye stood up from her seat, grimacing at Damon as she stood. The room paused as she got up, looking towards her for a reason. "I'm gonna' go help Elena with the cobbler."

No one protested her leave as she stepped away from the game. Faye wandered over towards the kitchen where Elena stood, moving the peach cobbler Damon had bought to bribe Jenna from the pan to a plate.

"Hey." The doppelganger acknowledged her presence with a nod of her head. "Tired of the game?"

"I don't get the point of it or the references everyone keeps making," Faye muttered. "So, I thought coming in here would be slightly less painful."

Elena frowned at her word usage, pausing her movements for a second. "Alright... " She trailed off. "So, how's everything going? With you?"

"I'm fine, I guess," Faye responded. She wasn't lying; she was fine. The mourning of her dead parents she could not remember ended with ease and allowed her to pretend to be a part of the human life faster than ever. Dealing with being human had been mostly easy as well. She adapted quickly to her surrounding environment and its behaviors, but there were few slip ups here and there as always. As Stefan had told her, no one was perfect.

  "School going okay?"

  "I guess."

"You know you can talk to me, right?" Elena said, her eyes staring intently at Faye.

"I'm talking to you right now."

"I mean tell me your problems," she chuckled out at the hybrid's words. "I want us to be friends."

Confusion etched across Faye's features at her words. Ever since she had shifted, she had kept close to her pack which held three people; Stefan, Caroline, and somewhat Damon if she ever got over their first meeting. She didn't have friends outside of them so far and looking at Elena, she didn't know if she would be the first or why she would want to be.

Elena may have come and attempted to help when it came to refreshing her memory, but that was at Stefan's request; not for Faye herself. Did she want to be friends because of Stefan? Even without that, humans did not enjoy vampires from what she knew and Faye was half of one.

"Why?" Faye finally asked her, the possible answers swarming her mind. "You're human."

"Why does that matter?" The doppelganger inquired. "My boyfriend's a vampire and my best friends are a witch and a vampire. You being a hybrid or whatever isn't an issue." Elena finally set the peach cobbler fully down, finishing her starting task. When she was finished, she placed her hands flat on top of the island counter and rested against it. "And I want us to be friends because you can never have enough of them."

Faye opened her mouth to speak again, but Damon entered the kitchen, cutting her off. His usual smirk was stretched across his face.

  "Aunt Jenna is getting tipsy."

Elena's mood instantly shifted once he spoke. She placed her hands on her hips and grumbled, "Will you stop plying her with alcohol?"

"I want her to like me."

Faye snorted. "You don't have enough alcohol." Damon walked over and jabbed with girl with his elbow. She didn't budge, only rolled her eyes. "How's the werewolf mission?"

"Mason and I are BFFs," he stated proudly. Faye and Elena shared a glance, worry and annoyance coursing through it.

Another person made their way into the kitchen, a drunk Jenna joining the trio. She beamed brightly at both Faye and Damon. "There you two are!" She said excitedly. "Isn't this so much fun?"

"Mhmm," Faye nodded, trying to return her enthusiasm as much as she could. "Thank you for inviting us."

"Oh, sweetie, it's so nice to have you here! Damon, on the other hand..." Jenna leaned in towards Faye, placing her hand up to cover her mouth. "Not so much."

Damon heard her despite her terrible attempts to cover her words. "I know what you must think of me-" he began to say.

Jenna scowled. "No, you don't. You've never dated you; I have dated many you's."

  "I'm a work in progress."

Elena snorted from where she stood, pulling out a set of utensils. Faye eyed them, knowing exactly what they were when the Gilbert went for one of the knives, taking it out. Silver; perfect for Damon's plan to stab a werewolf.

He noticed as well, almost gleaming at the sight. "These are fancy," he acknowledged, walking over to stand over the set. He plucked out one of the other knives to glance at.

"Thanks," Jenna replied. "My mother's silver set."

Faye sighed deeply when she was the only one to see Damon slip the knife into his pocket, wondering what the hell she had allowed herself to get in to. All to learn how to feed from the vein.

❧ ❧ ❧

At every attempt to out Mason, Damon failed. Mason purposely avoided using the silver knife for the peach cobbler, laughing it off with those in the room. The Salvatore had been disgruntled by the act, but always had another plan.

Faye stood in the kitchen again, trying to get away from the chaotic party that was the Gilbert barbecue. No one ever left her alone, though, as she could feel a presence creeping up behind her. She whirled around to face the werewolf Damon had been chasing after all day.

"Can I help you?" She asked Mason, her brow raised at him.

"We didn't really get the chance to introduce ourselves to each other," he said, his hand reaching out to shake hers. "Mason Lockwood."

She glanced down at his hand, but did not take it. "Faye Daniels."

"Can you tell me why you smell like a vampire and a werewolf?"

Faye took a step back at the bold question. She should have expected him to know, her own sense strong enough to detect the species of those who surrounded her. She played innocent, though. "I'm sorry?"

"I don't really like to repeat myself."

Anger suddenly boiled inside her at him, her eyes flashing gold at him. "It's none of your business."

Mason grimly smiled. "It isn't, but it'd be nice to know what the hell you are?"

"Don't make me kick your ass," she growled out at him. Faye took a step forward, her finger moving to push directing in to his chest. "I did it once, I'll do it again."

  "What-"

"Dude, you are really barking up the wrong tree," Damon's voice cut in to the room, saving the day. Faye's eyes turned back to normal as both creatures turned to face him. The raven haired vampire moved up to them, pulling Faye to stand in between her and the male werewolf.

Mason laughed at what Damon had said. "I've had enough of your innuendos. You're hilarious. You win."

  "Thank you."

"Come on, man," he nearly groaned out. "Don't you think I know what this barbecue is all about?"

Damon cut to the chase, immediately asking. "How do you know about me?" Your brother was completely clueless."

"It doesn't matter; I'm not your enemy, Damon."

"You tried to kill my brother," Damon growled at him. "Then you're sitting here questioning a kid and trying to intimidate her."

"He tried to kill Caroline, technically," Faye critiqued him, pinching her fingers together. "Then I threw him off of her and we had a little battle for power."

"What the hell are you talking about?" Mason glanced towards her, his eyes squinting at her if she was speaking gibberish. He shook his head before turning his attention back to Damon. "Anyways, that was a mistake."

  "Really?"

"I was confused," he explained. "I couldn't chain myself up in time. I have no control once I shift."

Damon looked over towards Faye for confirmation. She gave him a nod, recalling the only memory she had of ever shifting; the moment she killed her parents. She received it once again in a nightmare; reliving the moment she had as a child where she slaughtered her family with no control.

"So, what?" Damon asked joking. "No obedience school?"

Mason huffed at him, sick of his remarks. "I'm serious. Let's not spark some edge old fuel that doesn't imply us."

"You expect me to believe that you are in Mystic Falls planting peace trees?"

A solemn tone came to the air as Mason spoke, "I lost my brother, my nephew lost his father. I'm here for my family." He held his hand out for Damon to shake, wanting to call a truce. "Let's be above this."

Damon agreed to the truce, his hand reaching out to shake Mason's. It didn't mean anything, Faye knew it, as she could sense the Salvatore itching to take the silver in his pocket and drive it in to him at any moment.

❧ ❧ ❧

The barbecue ended swiftly after that, everyone exchanging goodbyes. Mason offered to catch a game with Alaric and hugged Jenna gently before leaving for the Grill. Damon moved forward and kissed Jenna on her hand charmingly.

"Jenna, you are a wonderful hostess," he boasted in attempts to woo her.

There was a faded blush to her cheeks as he raised up. "And you are a terrible artist."

"Is that the only thing that makes me terrible?"

"I'm still deciding." Jenna moved on from him to hug Faye who stood besides them, ready to go. The hybrid returned the hug, despite how uncomfortable it was for her. "It was so nice to meet you."

"Thank you for letting me join," Faye returned with a smile as they separated.

Damon sighed, shrugging his jacket on. "Well, time to head on out Alaric, let's not catch that game next week."

With that, they were out the door, waving goodbye to the history teacher and his girlfriend. Damon and Faye walked over to the blue camaro parked and climbed inside. A sigh of relief escaped Faye's lips as she assumed the day was over.

"Okay, time to teach me how to feed on humans."

"After we stab ourselves a werewolf."

Faye's groan was heard by the entirety of Mystic Falls as Damon's car roared to life and began on its journey to Mason Lockwood. They traveled behind the man, nearly meeting him to the Grill.

Damon parked his own car far from him, making sure he could not be seen when he approached. When he got out, he looked towards Faye and pointed to her sternly. "Stay here."

  "No problem."

The door slammed shut without another word and Faye watch Damon walk away to the other side of the lot. She couldn't see what had happened, but she could hear the commotion. The tone in Mason's voice telling her he wasn't surprised, the laugh he released when the knife was stabbed in to him and didn't hurt him at all, and the threat he made against her pack.

Faye felt her face contort as she became inhuman. Her fangs poked at her gums, wanting to be released in anger. She wanted to kill Mason; to protect her pack from whatever he could be planning to do. Her hand found the door handle, pulling it. She wanted to sink her teeth in to the werewolf and tear out the same jugular vein Caroline had spoken about; wherever that was.

Her feet hit the pavement with a swift movement. Faye shut the door behind her as her eyes landed on her target. Mason calmly walked back towards his vehicle. She slowly started to charge in his direction, seeing red.

"What the hell are you doing?" Damon appeared, placing his hand on her shoulder to push her back. She calmed at the sight of him, her facial features becoming much more human than they were previously.

"Going to kill him," Faye told him. "He threatened you. You're my pack. I can't risk him hurting you."

Damon scoffed, looking up at the night sky. "He won't do shit, Amnesia."

  "And if he does?"

"Then you can kick his ass. I don't care," he said. "You just don't immediately pick fights in parking lots."

  "You did."

"Well, I'm stupid. You don't want to be like me, do you?" Faye shook her head. "Okay, good. I'm over this. Let's get a drink."

❧ ❧ ❧

Faye got her drink. She did easily what Damon called "snatch, eat, and erase". Her fangs had been shoved in to the neck of a man, feeding from him until she could hear a faint heartbeat. She healed him, compelled him, and received a clap on the back from the master himself. There was a sense of pride in him as he watched the girl perfect the art of vampirism.

"Damon," a voice said in the night as Faye pushed away the newly healed and compelled man. Her eyes flicked towards the owner, a woman who was the exact copy of Elena, but wasn't her. Stefan had given her a name; a picture held in his hand as he told Faye to avoid her at all cost; Katherine Pierce.

"And the girl I've heard so much about," Katherine purred at the hybrid. "Faye, right? You're a special one, alright. Very interesting." Faye wore a grimace of disgust at her. She used the back of her hand to wipe at the excess blood on her mouth.

"Oh, shut it," Damon groaned at her.

Katherine pulled a pout. "Bad day?"

  "Bad century"

"What's the matter? Jealous I spent the day with Stefan?

The raven haired vampire rolled his eyes at her, a common reaction between him and Faye. "I don't do jealous. Not with you, not anymore."

  "Then why so pouty?"

"He tried to kill a werewolf, he failed," Faye informed her in a bored tone. Katherine gained a sinister smile the moment she spoke, watching her as if she were her next meal.

  "Well, werewolves aren't easy prey."

Damon took a step towards her, his eyes narrowing. "What do you know about werewolves?"

"Why don't you ask your brother?" Katherine tried to pull at his strings, but Damon wasn't having it. He took Faye by her wrist and began to pull her away from the Grill. They walked past the mirror image of Elena who called out to her former lover as he passed. "Don't try to be the hero, Damon. You'll end up dead."

"Been there, done that," he muttered back. "At least this time it'll be worth it."
