TWENTY SIX ▶ SENIOR YEAR

Faye wanted to puke.

Today was the first day of her senior year and she was absolutely nervous. After being MIA for the whole summer, she would return like nothing had happened at all. She dolled herself up like she would usually have done and perfected her fake smile.

She stared into the full body mirror that stood in the corner of her room, inhaling deeply. Faye had chosen to wear dark blue, pink flower patterned dress paired with a jean jacket and biege colored ankle boots. She tried to look her best so no one would think anything was wrong with her.

Faye turned around and grabbed her bag, ignoring Dana and one of the men she had tore apart on her birthday who sat on her bed. They were going on and on about how Faye was a monster and needed to die. Faye rolled her eyes, hearing the same words all of the human she killed said.

She ignored them and walked out of her room to get downstairs. Faye wanted to leave for school as quickly as possible without running into Damon. After her nightmare and her story of what had happened to her, he knew he would try to keep her home and try to get her better.

But she was fine, Stefan was the one who needed the help.

Faye sped down the stairs, trying to make her way out the house quickly. She was stopped when she was sent plummeting to the ground by her tripping over something. Faye let out a loud groan as her face smacked against the hardwood floor.

She turned her head to see what she had tripped over. Her balked, seeing two dead girls.

"Ew." Faye stood up, dusting herself off as she stared at the dead girls. Had Damon done this? Or was it Stefan?

She frowned when her hybrid hearing picked up the sounds of giggling and loud, horrible pop music. Faye walked towards the sound, ending up in the living room.

"What in the holy hell?" Faye whispered as she stared at the scene in front of her. Sorority girls were scattered across a twister mat, giggling and bending so they could reach the certain colors they needed to. Stefan sat on the couch, spinning the wheel.

"Uh-oh. Alexandra, left hand, please." Stefan says when the spinner lands on left hand red for her. The girl got up and offered Stefan her wrist, which he gladly took and fed from.

"Hey, the two brunettes on the staircase owe me a Persian rug." Damon said as he walked up behind Faye. Stefan finally took notice of the pair and unlatched his mouth from the girl's wrist.

"You mean, they owe us a Persian rug? It's my house, too, brother." Stefan glanced over at Faye and smiled brightly, "Ooh! Faye, would you like a spin?"

Faye shook her head, "No thank you."

"So this is what Klaus had in mind when he compelled you to protect Elena?" Damon asked his younger brother.

Stefan gave him a large grin, "These ladies are helping me be all that I can be."

Faye opened her mouth to say something, but was cut off by the door slamming open. Lacey blurred inside, moving in front of Faye.

"Thank god." Lacey placed her hands on either side of Faye's face, "Are you okay? I was so worried about you!"

Faye scrunched up her face in annoyance, "I'm fine, Lacey. Perfectly okay."

Damon scoffed next to her, knowing she was lying. He knew the story of every time she killed and he knew the girl he had killed last night was following her around.

"What are you doing here?" Faye asked, "Not that I'm not happy to see you, but I was just going to come over later so you could see me."

"You're moving out of the boarding house and in with me." Lacey told her.

"Wait what?" Faye questioned her aunt. Did she just say move from the place she was used to?

"Look, I know I really haven't been here for the time you've been here, but I'm here now and I want to be in your life again. Also, I need to make sure you don't make an idiot deal again like you did." Lacey said. Faye began shaking her head, saying no. It wasn't that she didn't love Lacey, she did not want to move away from Damon and Stefan.

"I agree with her." Damon said, stepping into the conversation, "You need a normal home where you don't have to deal with all that-" He nodded his head to where Stefan was sitting, listening to their conversation.

"But you guys need me here." Faye looked over at Stefan, "Don't you need me here?"

Stefan shrugged, "I could honestly care less."

Faye scowled at him, "You're a dick." She turned back to Lacey who was pulling a puppy dog face, "Fine, but you have to pack my stuff because I don't have time."

"Good, I'll do that-"

The door was knocked on and Damon sighed. He walked up to the door and opened it. A blonde that Damon didn't recognize stormed in.

"Where's Stefan?" Rebekah asked as she carried her shopping bags past him.

"Who are you?" Damon was ignored by her.

Faye turned around, groaning when she saw Rebekah, "No, go away."

"Nice to see you again, Rebekah." Lacey said, grinning at the blonde.

Rebekah looked up, a smile breaking out on her own face, "Lacina, I haven't seen you in a century." They went in for a hug and Faye groaned even louder.

"What are you doing here?" Faye asked the original, "Klaus ran with his tail between his legs, shouldn't you being doing the same."

Rebekah pulled away from Lacey's hug and glanced at Faye, "He left me here. My brother actually left me here."

"Oh, I'm sorry. Your tone implies that we're actually supposed to care." Stefan spoke up from the couch.

"You're Klaus's sister?" Damon asked, rejoining them.

She turned and looked at him, "Rebekah. Pleasure, I'm sure." Rebekah then looked back at Stefan, "Which one's my room?"

"You're not staying here."Stefan told her, a giant sarcastic grin on his face.

"You can stay with us if you." Lacey suggested, causing Faye to screech.

"No!" Faye shook her head constantly, "No, no, no, no! I'll even say it in Spanish. Noh!"

Lacey gave Faye a look, "You're being rude."

"She helped turn my boyfriend into a hybrid without knowing it would work." Faye crossed her arms over her chest, her lip curled into a snarl at the sight of Rebekah, "I have a reason to be rude."

"He survived, get over it." Rebekah waved her hand at the strawberry blonde. She looked over at Lacey, smiling, "I would love to live you and Faye."

"Great, you can help me pack all of her things up." Lacey said, going to guide Rebekah up to Faye's room. Rebekah put her shopping bags down and turned to smirk at Faye.

Faye snarled at the original as she watched her walk up to her room. She turned around and looked at Damon for help.

"Do something!" Faye whispered to him.

Damon shook his head, "Sorry, Faye, you're on your own in this one." He kissed her forehead, "Just go to school and have a good day."

Faye pouted, grumbling, "Fine, but you better bring me lunch."

Damon smiled, patting her head, "And also, talk to Bonnie. She has something for you."

Faye nodded, sighing slightly. She made sure she had all of her things before kissing Damon's cheek, sending Stefan a look, and leaving.

__

Faye walked up to her locker in the school hallways and sighed, slamming her head against it. She was not looking forward to today at all.

"Hey."

Faye turned her head to the right, staring over, "Hey, Bon."

"So, Damon called me before school this morning and he told me about your situation." Bonnie bit her lip, thinking of how many people Faye had killed. Faye lifted her head up off of her locker, frowning. Did Bonnie think she was a monster now?

"From what I've heard from the spirits, the witch who cursed you also caused the hallucinations." Bonnie told Faye.

Faye sighed, "She loves ruining my life doesn't she?"

"Seems like it." Bonnie muttered before beginning to dig into her backpack, "I found something in my grimoire that could, though." She pulled out a jar of herbs, "It's rosemary. You can crush some into water and drink it like you would vervain. It stops nightmares and hallucinations as long as you take it."

Faye pursed her lips and took the jar Bonnie held out to her. She stared at it, making sure no one else could see it in case they thought it was a drug deal. Faye's face broke out into a large grin and she pulled the witch into her hugs.

"Bonnie, you are an angel and I love you so much." Faye squeezed the tiny girl, causing Bonnie to let out a laugh. The hybrid pressed a kiss to the girls cheek before pulling back, "Thank you. I honestly owe you my life."

"You don't owe me anything, okay?" Bonnie patted Faye's shoulder, "You're my friend and I wanted to help."

"I still owe you one and if you ever need me, I will be there in two seconds." Faye said with a smile.

Bonnie nodded, "I have to get to my locker, so I'll see you in History?"

"You know it." Bonnie sent the girl a smile before leaving her to gather her things.

__

"A bonfire?"

Caroline turned around and faced the strawberry blonde behind her, "We do a bonfire at the beginning of the years, always. We have beer, roast marshmallows, make out in the woods with hot boys..."

"It sounds boring." Faye said, taking the flyer from Caroline, "It also sounds like the setting of a horror movie. No thank you." She slid the flyer back to Caroline.

Caroline's eyes widened, "But you have to come! It's the first spirt-squad event of the year."

Faye bit her lip, not saying anything. Elena walked up behind Faye, smiling slightly.

"Hey, Faye, Caroline." Elena greeted. Her eyes darted over to Faye, "I heard about Rebekah."

Faye scrunched up her face at the name, "Yep. I get to live with the she-devil for a while now." She looked down at the ground, her eyes narrowed, "I'm going to poison her in her sleep."

Elena chuckled at Faye's antics. Her gaze drifted over to the flyers in Caroline's hands, "I forgot about the bonfire"

"You have to go." Caroline told Elena, "As I told Faye, it's our first spirit squad event. And it sets the bar for the whole year."

"Relax, Caroline. Faye and I'll be there." Elena promised the blonde.

"Wait, what-" Faye couldn't even finish her sentence due to the fact she was pulled into a sweet kiss by Tyler. Faye laughed and kissed him back. Elena smiled at them until she noticed the red stain on his shirt.

"Happy first day!" Tyler cheered as he pulled away from the kiss.

Elena, mouth gaped at him, spoke up, "Is that blood?" She pointed to the stain.

"Oh my God!" Faye hissed, grabbing Tyler. She dragged him into the boy's bathroom, Elena following them in.

"What's going on?!" Tyler asked once they were in the bathroom. Elena checked the stalls to make sure no one was in there.

Faye grabbed a paper towel and ran it under the water, "Vampire slash hybrid 101..." She put some soap on the paper towel and began wiping at the shirt, "Don't wear your breakfast to school!"

"Chill out. It was just a blood bag." Tyler said to the hybrid in front of him.

Faye narrowed her eyes at him, "From where?"

"Rebekah hooked me up."

"Rebekah?" Faye asked, stopping for a moment, "Why are you talking to her?"

Tyler shrugged, a smile on his face, "Klaus told her to keep a watch on me. Protect his new asset."

"His asset?" Faye questioned, scowling, "Why are you amused by this?"

"I'm his first successful hybrid, Faye." Tyler chirped, "Don't you think that's the tiniest bit awesome?"

Faye flashed her fangs at him, her anger getting the best of her, "I cannot believe you just said that." She sneered at Tyler.

Elena sighed, telling Faye she was still in the room, "So, I'm going to go. Good luck." She left the bathroom and Faye turned her head back to Tyler.

Faye finished up cleaning Tyler's stain once she was gone in silence. When she was done, she pursed her lips and looked up at him.

"I'm sorry I got mad at you. I know you're just excited about being a hybrid." Faye said to him, "I got that feeling too when I first shifted back." She smiled down at the ground.

"Stay away from Rebekah though, she's bad news." Faye said as she looked back up again, "If you need something, you can call me."

Tyler sighed, but nodded, "Okay."

"Good." Faye grinned, "I have to get to class, but I'll see you at lunch."

Tyler nodded and she reached up to kiss his cheek. They both left the bathroom and went their separate ways.

Faye walked into the history room as the bell rang. Alaric looked up, sending the hybrid a small smile. Faye saluted him and went to the back of the room. She took her seat behind Bonnie, pulling her text book out of her bag.

Stefan arrived and moved towards the seat next to Elena, who sat behind Faye. He looked at the boy who was already in it.

"You're in my seat." He sneered at the boy.

The boy got up in fear, going quickly to another seat. Stefan sat down and looked at Elena with a smirk.

Suddenly, Stefan felt something hit the back of his head. He reached up to the spot he was hit at and turned around. He looked at Faye who had shot him with a rubber band. He growled at her and she just wiggled her fingers at him

"Welcome back, seniors." Alaric said to the class, turning the attention to him,

"Let's turn our brains back on, starting with this country's original founders..." He turned around and began writing on the board, "The Native Americans."

"What about the vikings?"

Alaric looked towards the doorway where Rebekah stood, holding a binder against her chest.

"There's no evidence that Viking explorers actually settled in the United States." Alaric said to her, "Who are you?"

Rebekah walked inside, going to the only open seat which was next to Faye. The strawberry blonde groaned, seeing that she was never going to escape this girl.

"My name's Rebekah. I'm new." She sat down, "And history's my favorite subject."

__

Faye had gotten through the school day without attempting to kill Rebekah, who had followed her around to every class. She managed to get a locker next to her, to have all the same classes, and the same lunch period. Faye ignored her and spent her lunch with Tyler and Caroline on the bleachers by the football field.

After school, Faye went to the hospital to resume to her usual volunteering. She missed the kids over the summer and it made her happy that she could come back. Dani was excited to see her again and talked about how Damon came everyday to talk to her. She noted to thank Damon for that.

Faye had just left after doing her round and was driving to her house. She had her phone pressed to her ear as she drove.

"He compelled someone?" Faye asked.

"The coach, yes." Caroline said, "And he said that Klaus gave him a gift."

Faye shook her head,, "He's been acting really weird. I thought it was just because he's on the baby vamp rush, but with this and him thinking it was cool that he was Klaus' "asset"..." Faye sighed, "I don't know anymore."

"We need to keep him away from Rebekah." Caroline told her over the phone, "Rebekah said she was interested in him. She wants to take over my life and take your boyfriend." She grumbled, "I hate her."

"At least you don't have to live with her now." Faye mumbled back, "I got to go, I'm pulling into my driveway."

"Remember, the bonfire!" Caroline shouted into the phone before hanging up. Faye did the same and stuffed it back into her purse. She turned off her car and got out, going inside right after she locked it back.

"I'm home!" Faye shouted as she walked into the door. She walked into the kitchen and found Lacey sitting at the kitchen table with Rebekah, laughing over a photo album.

Lacey turned her head and smiled at her niece, "Hey, how were the kiddos?"

"They were good. Dani almost passed out seeing me again." Faye said as she sat her bag down on the kitchen counter.

Lacey smiled and turned back to Rebekah, "Faye volunteers at the hospital after school. She goes around and hangs out with the kids so they don't feel alone. She also slips blood into their drinks; enough to heal them though, not to turn them."

"Lovely." Rebekah said, looking over at Faye, "Maybe I can join you sometimes."

"No." Faye said, pulling her water bottle out of her bag. She had mixed some of the herbs Bonnie had provided with it earlier, "It's the one thing I want to keep as you try to take over my life."

Lacey sighed, "Faye, I'm sure she's not-"

"I need you to stay away from Tyler." Faye told Rebekah as she drank from her water bottle.

"Why?" Rebekah asked as she got up from her seat at the table. She walked over to the hybrid, "Did your friend Caroline tell you that I wanted him?"

"He's newly turned." Faye clarified, "I don't need you turning him into something he's not and forcing him to kill. So stay away."

Lacey decided to stay out of this one. She knew Faye was partially right.

"You don't control him." The blonde original responded.

"I'm his alpha." Faye's eyes flashed gold for a moment, "What I say goes." She then flashed Rebekah a grin, "I'm also his girlfriend and he listens to me."

Faye turned around and took her stuff upstairs to her room, not wanting to see Rebekah's face again. Rebekah huffed, turning around to look at Lacey.

"Territorial, is she not?" Rebekah asked rhetorically.

"Just like her mother." Lacey muttered softly, going back to the photo album in front of her. Rebekah plopped back down into her seat and sighed, knowing that the friendship she wanted to have with Faye was not going to happen.

__

"I'll lure Stefan away from the bonfire. Then when he's distracted..."

"I'll shoot him." Alaric finished for Elena as they went over their plan.

Faye sat on top of one of the desk in the history classroom, listening to them. She had been called by Damon when she had gotten up to her room and had been told to meet them at the school. By them she meant Alaric, Elena, Caroline, and him. She left the house despite Lacey's attempts to keep her there and keep her from getting into trouble.

"Can't Bonnie just ju-ju him or something?" Faye asked, hoping off the desk. She was all for getting Stefan back to his normal self, but this plan was bad.

Elena shook her head at the hybrid, "I'm trying to keep Bonnie out of this. I don't trust that Stefan won't hurt her." Her gaze flickered over to the blonde vampire in the room, "Caroline, are you covered?"

"Yes!" Caroline stated, "I will make sure that the old Forbes jail cell is prepped and ready."

"We're forgetting a key player here." Damon butted in. Everyone turned to look at him, "Rebekah? Wherever Stefan goes, the blond ponytail tends to follow."

"Which is why it's your job to keep her away." Elena announced.

"How?!" Damon questioned, "She's an original. Last time I checked, we're out of daggers."

"Preoccupy her with your charm, Damon." Faye suggested to him. Rebekah wanted a boy toy from what it seemed and Damon could fit that perfectly.

Alaric snorted from where he was leaning on his desk, "Might have better luck finding the dagger."

"Are you ever not going to be mad at me for a day?" Damon asked the history teacher.

"Doubtful."

The door to the history class opened and revealed Tyler, "Sorry I'm late." He stopped in the doorway to look around at everyone, "What's going on?"

"We need you to raid your mom's vervain supply. Enough to keep Stefan down for a while." Elena told him.

Tyler frowned and shook his head, "You can't do that to Stefan."

"Why not?" Caroline asked him.

"It's in his best interest, Tyler." Faye told her boyfriend.

Tyler shrugged, "Yeah. It's not in Klaus's."

"But Klaus is the bad guy, Tyler." Faye exclaimed. Tyler's facial expression didn't change and Faye scoffed at him, "You know, why are you acting like some freaky, hybrid, slave minion."

"Uh-oh." Damon stood up straighter, realizing what was going on.

"What?" Alaric butted in.

"Klaus made me who I am, Faye." Tyler said to the strawberry blonde, "I owe him everything."

Faye's eyes widened at what he said. What the hell was wrong with him?

"Oh, boy."

"Shut up!" Faye snapped at Damon, "We do not need your commentary right now."

"What is going on?" Elena questioned, confused.

Damon picked up one of the vervain darts off the table, slowly inching towards Tyler. Tyler eyed it warily, beginning to back away into the hallway.

"I'm just going to go."

Damon sped over before he could leave. He drove the needle of the vervain dart into Tyler's throat, knocking him out. Faye gasped, jumping towards them.

"What the hell are you doing?!" Faye shouted at him.

"He's been sired." Damon announced to the people in the room.

"What?" Alaric asked again.

Damon looked at the teacher, "Sired. He feels loyal to Klaus because Klaus's blood created him."

"Loyal how?" Elena inquired.

"He'll seek acceptance from his master." Damon told her, "It's really rare. But maybe not so much in hybrids." He glanced at Tyler who was on the ground.

Faye bit her lip, "So how do I fix him?"

"Get a new boyfriend." Damon said to her. She scowled at him, "Faye, take him home and make sure he stays away from the bonfire."

Faye sighed, but nodded. She went over to Tyler and picked him up. She threw him over her shoulder before leaving the classroom. As she walked to her car, she groaned out angrily.

Could her life get any worse?

__

Faye hated that she was missing the bonfire. She wanted to help fix Stefan and she couldn't do it from here.

She sat in one of the arm chairs inside the Lockwood's study. Faye had brought Tyler in there and laid him out on the couch. She watched over him while texting Caroline about Tyler and what was happening at the bonfire.

Tyler let out a groaned and slowly lifted his head from the throw pillow it was rested on. Faye looked up from her phone at him, the smile she usually wore when she saw him, gone. Tyler glanced around the room, confused.

"What the hell?" He whispered, "How did I get home?"

"I brought you here." Faye said. He gazed over at her, "You were acting like a d-bag."

"What is your problem today?" Tyler asked her.

Faye gave him an irritated look, "My problem is you've been sired." She revealed, "Do you even know what that means? It means that you put Klaus' needs first. He is your master now and your his bitch."

"I'm not anyone's pet, Faye." Tyler said, trying to calm her nerves, "He doesn't control me."

Faye shrugged, sitting on the edge of her seat, "Well, something's got to be controlling you. Because I don't know why else you'd be acting like the old you."

"The old me?" Tyler questioned.

"Caroline told me about you before you activated your curse. You were an obnoxious dick." Faye said to him, "Someone I would probably not touch with a fifty foot pole." She got up, moving to leave.

"Whoa! Wait, wait, wait, wait, wait." Tyler reached out and grabbed her arm. Faye sighed and turned back to face him, "I'm sorry. I don't want to be that guy. I hated that guy."

Faye sat down next to him on the couch, moving her hand to hold his, "You're a vampire now, Tyler. Everything about your personality is heightened." She explained to him, "So you have to be careful."

He nodded, "I will. I promise." Tyler's hand left hers to cup her cheek, "Just..." He inhaled deeply, "Don't hate me. Everything I like about me is you."

"I could never hate you." Faye responded, smiling slightly.

Tyler returned that smile and leaned into kiss her. He captured her lips in his and his hand found its way to the small of her back.

After a few minutes of kissing, Faye had ended up in his lap as they were in a heated make out session. Tyler's hand slipped under her shirt and that made Faye stop. He frowned when Faye pulled back all of the sudden.

"What?" Tyler asked her, "What's wrong?"

"I've never done this before, but I really want to." Faye muttered. Her hormones had been raging ever since she shifted back and she wanted to satisfy them more than anything. But, she was cautious, knowing that Tyler may leave right after she sleeps with him.

"Then what are you worried about?" Tyler sat up straighter, still keeping hold of her waist.

"Are you playing me?" Faye asked him, "I've seen all those movies where the girl gets used by the guy and-"

Tyler cut her off with a sweet kiss. She slowly shut her eyes, kissing him back. When he pulled away, her eyes fluttered open.

"I really do care about you, Faye." Tyler said, "You're the only girl I have ever really liked and I want to be with you, even if we don't sleep together."

Faye bit her lip and nodded, "Okay." She took his face in her hands and brought him into a hungry kiss, giving him the signal that she wanted this. She pulled away and smirked, "You don't have to be gentle though."

Those words set Tyler off. Her back was press against the sofa in a second and Tyler was kissing her once again. He released her lips to pull off her shirt, tossing it to the ground beside them.

Faye clawed at his t-shirt until she became impatient and tore it in two. Tyler's lips moved down to her throat and she gasped when he nipped at her skin with his blunt teeth.

Faye drifted into a state of euphoria as Tyler continued on, pleasing her in every way possible.

__

"You're running out on me?" Tyler asked as he tied a blanket around his waist. Faye was tugging back on her dress.

"Lacey's probably worried about me since it's almost midnight." Faye said, standing up. She grabbed her jean jacket and tugged it on, "And plus, you have to earn the overnighter."

"I consider that a challenge." Tyler said, grabbing her hand. He tugged her towards him, pressing his body against hers.

Faye slapped his shoulder, "Stop distracting me. I have to get home." She gave him a long drawn out goodbye kiss before backing out of his arms.

"Now who's distracting who?" Tyler joked. Faye grinned and turned away from him.

"Bye Tyler." She called back as she slipped out of the Lockwood home silently. Faye walked out to her car with a grin on her face, not a care in the world.

__

Faye was brushing her hair after she got of the shower. She hadn't stopped smiling since she had left Tyler's. She felt amazing and nothing could destroy that.

Faye set her brush down on her dresser and then plopped down on her new bed. She gasped when a rush of cold wind pass by her. She stood up at inhuman speed, glancing around the room with her fangs out.

Something knocked over a picture frame with force, sending it flying across the floor. Faye jumped and looked around again, seeing no one.

She slowly inched towards the photo. Faye picked it up, shaking off the broken glass so she could see it better. It was a photo of Faye and her parents when she was five.

"Faye..."

Faye's head snapped around to look in the direction she heard her name being whispered. No one was there again and she was freaking out.

"There's no such things as ghost." Faye muttered to herself, "Right?"
