THREE ▶ BLOODY PICNICS

"Hey, great, you're dressed." Damon said as he walked in to the kitchen where Faye was sitting with a blood bag and some of her homework. She had started school two days ago and she had already been assigned a paper (by Alaric which was totally uncalled for) about the history of the town. She was currently attempt to write a draft for it.

"Salvatore, what do you want?" She drawled out, annoyed, "I'm doing stuff."

Damon grinned and slammed the Salvatore journal she was using shut, "Not anymore you aren't."

"Damon!" Faye growled, "I have to work on my paper! It's due soon and I doubt Alaric will let me turn it in late!"

The vampire just rolled his eyes and tugged at her braid, "I'm sure Alaric wouldn't mind. Anyways, we have things to do today."

Faye sighed, "Why do you always drag me in to your little werewolf take down?"

"No werewolf take down this time, little red. Just a little picnic so I can show you off to the town and they can see how great I am for taking you in." He pinched her cheeks, causing her to flash her golden eyes at him.

"Why do I have to go?" She whined.

"Because I signed you up."

"Will Stefan be there?" Faye asked, not wanting to go without her best friend. She preferred him over Damon any day because he seemed to actually care about her.

"Of course Stef will be there." Damon said, "Why do you always like him better than me?"

She smiled at Damon before getting up, "Wouldn't you like to know." Faye gathered all her things off the table, "I'll be back down here in a minute and you can drive me to that stupid picnic or whatever."

Damon smirked as he watched her exit the room, "You better hurry."

Faye walked up to Stefan while he was watching Mason pull some things out of the truck.

He looked over at her and smiled.

"Hey." Faye greeted him, "Why are are you watching hot werewolf Lockwood?"

Stefan raised an eyebrow at her, "You think he's hot?"

"Hell yeah. I mean, if Damon wasn't planning to some how get rid of him, he'd total be my first time." He chocked on his drink when he saw Faye's eyes linger on Mason's behind, "Totally doable."

"Aren't you supposed to have a mind of an eight year old girl?" Stefan asked her.

She shook her head, "I grew up in the with actual wolves, Stef. I know all about the birds and the bees ever since many have tried to get with me."

"Not something I wanted to hear."

Faye smiled sweetly, "But you did." She then looked back at Mason, "So, are we going to talk to him or what?"

Stefan sighed before they both walked over to Mason who looked at them. Mason fake smiled, "Stefan right? The other Salvatore." He scowled at Faye, "Nice to see you Faye."

"The nice one." Stefan said, "We're the ones offering an apology."

"Not interested." Mason turned away from the, causing Faye to grab his arm.

"Hey!" She said, "I tried my best to stop the whole knife thingy from happening, but it did anyways. Damon acted impulsively."

Mason scoffed, "You think?"

"Look, if you and Damon keep at each other throats, somebody innocent is going to get hurt and we don't want that." Stefan told the werewolf, "You have family here so I can imagine you'd want that either. So what do you say we just quit the whole alpha male fighting thing and call a truce?"

"I made that same offer to your brother. He turned it down with a knife." Mason told them, sending a glare towards Faye. She sighed, pushing back the strands of hair that were falling out of her braids. Awkwardly, she tugged on the sleeves of her Mystic Falls High sweatshirt.

Stefan mimicked her actions, running a hand through his hair, "He made a mistake. I'm here to make sure that neither one of you make another one."

"Tell your brother to watch his back."

Faye growled and grabbed his arm, "Well, I'm guessing that he only has to worry about that during a full moon. Otherwise you're not as strong, am I right? Or you would have kill Damon by now." Mason looked at her, "There's one of you. There's three of us." She sneered, "I think you're the one that needs to watch his back."

Mason scowled at her, "If he comes at me..."

"He won't" Faye said sternly, letting him go to hold out her hand for him to shake, "Deal?"

She gave him a fangy grin as her eyes flashed gold. Mason eyed her and shook her hand before walking away. Damon took Mason's place and frowned at the pack mates.

"What are you doing?" Damon asked them.

Faye sighed, "Negotiating peace on your behalf."

"I don't want peace."

Stefan shrugged, "Consider it opposite day."

"Please tell me you don't seriously think a hand shake just solved our problem." Damon groaned to them.

"No, actually I think that the first chance Mason Lockwood gets, he's gonna drive a stake through your heart, through mine, and then he'll somehow find out how to kill Faye, all because you took it upon yourself to try to kill him." Stefan told him, "So thank you, because we don't have enough problems." He left and Faye gave Damon a look before walking away to go hang out with Caroline.

__

Mason was helping Liz with some boxes and she smiled at him, "Oh thanks Mason."

"Hey Sheriff, you've got a second?" He asked her.

Liz chuckled, "I'm out of uniform. Let's go with Liz."

"Alright Liz. I was hoping to talk to you about the council."

The sheriff stiffened at the word council. She didn't want to talk about it, "I don't know what you're talking about."

"I know you and the others founding families have a secret council." Mason told her with a sigh.

She was still uncomfortable about the subject, "If that were true then you'd know it's a secret and isn't discuss with non-council members."

"I know I rejected all that but it's only because I wanted a life outside of this town, not because I was a non-believer." He sighed once again, "Look, I know vampires exist and you have three of them living right under your nose."

"Really?" Liz asked, raising an eyebrow.

"Yeah."

"And who would they be?"

Mason inhaled sharply before telling her, "Damon and Stefan Salvatore plus they're new friend Faye."

"That's impossible." She said in disbelief, "I know Damon Salvatore. Do you know what he's done for this town?"

"I know it's a lot to digest."

Liz looked at him with a scowl, "No. I watched him kill vampires. He's an ally; he's part of the council. And Faye is a sweet girl. Caroline loves her to death."

"Think about it. When did the vampire attacks begin?" Liz thought about it and Mason asked another question, "When Damon and Stefan Salvatore moved to town?"

"They walk in the sun, Mason." Liz said.

"They've evolved. It's not 1864. They figured it out, Liz." He told her.

She shook her head, "No. Damon Salvatore is my friend."

Mason sighed, "What if I can prove it to you?

Both of them looked over at Damon and Stefan before their eyes traveled over to where Faye was chatting with Caroline as they both painted the fence with Elena. Liz couldn't help but wonder if Mason was right, especially with the Faye girl who appeared out of no where.

__

"So suddenly, she's in the running for mother of the year just when I'm trying to avoid her the most." Caroline complained to both Faye and Elena as they painted the fence. Faye didn't seem to be listening and neither did Elena, "I'm babbling, you don't want to hear all this."

Faye looked up at her, "Oh, no, sorry. Then what happened?"

"Well, I was a bitch which is part of the course with us." Caroline told her before looking over at the doppelganger, "So, how are things with you and Stefan? Anything?"

Elena sighed and shook her head, "No, not since the fight. He's been pushing me away because he thinks that Katherine might get jealous enough to hurt me. I just don't know how to change his mind."

Faye frowned, knowing something was off. She decided not to ask about it until she knew what it was.

"You said that Katherine's dangerous. Maybe he's got a point." Caroline replied with a shrug.

Faye scoffed, "Dangerous? How dangerous will she be when I rip her fucking throat out?"

"Faye..." Elena trailed off, giving her a look of disapproval. Faye rolled her eyes before getting back to work, "I know that she's dangerous, Caroline, and I know that he's just trying to protect me but it feels like giving up and I just..."

"Just what?"

Elena sighed, "I just thought that we were stronger than that."

"I still think we should just kick the bitch's ass."

This time, Faye got slapped on the head by Caroline causing her to wince and Elena to laugh. Suddenly, Elena went quite as she turned her head to look at Stefan. Faye sighed as Caroline frowned.

"Oh, oh. Longing looks are being exchanged." Caroline said as she looked between the vampire and doppelganger.

Elena stood up and wiped her hands on her pants, "I'm gonna go talk to him."

"No, Elena. I think it's a bad idea." Caroline tried to reason with her, but Elena walked away, ignoring her.

Damon walked up to the pair and looked at Faye, "What's her problem?"

"Don't worry about it." Faye replied, fiddling with the necklace she had on.

He then looked at Caroline, "Why are you being such a bitch to your mom?"

"Don't worry about it."

__

Elena walked straight up to Stefan and frowned, "Do you still care about Katherine?"

"Don't do this. Please don't turn this into something that it's not." Stefan replied, sighing.

Elena quirked an eyebrow, "So this is not for discussion. That's what you're saying?"

Caroline, Damon, and Faye were all listening from across the way.

"No, I'm saying that this isn't up for discussion right now because we have ears on us." Stefan and Elena both look up at the trio who were now acting like they weren't listening. Faye was pretend whistling while Damon and Caroline looked the other way.

"Okay, when?" She asked him.

He shrugged, "I don't know."

Elena faked being distraught, "I saw her Stefan. It's like we are the same person. How could you hate her and be in love with me?"

"You're reaching. I'm not..." Stefan shook his head, "I'm not Damon."

Elena scowled, "How about we don't bring Damon into this right now?"

"You know, I can't..." Stefan's eyes showed his love for her despite what he said, "I can't do this anymore, Elena."

She fought the smile off her lips when he said that, "Fine, Stefan. Whatever." Elena walked away from him and he faked his anger.

Damon looked at Faye as he stopped listening to Stefan and Elena's conversation,

"Relationships are about communication."

Caroline scoffed at him before walking away, going to find Elena. Faye turned to look a Damon, a frown on her face, "Something's up with them. That was totally fake."

__

Faye and Damon had separated for a while, both going to work on different things. Faye was with a group of girls at the lemonade stand, braiding their hair since they had asked. Mason had walked up to the group and took some lemonade off the table, giving Faye a death glare. She almost snarled at him, but she remembered the girls there.

"Hello, Mason. Working hard?" Damon asked as he walked up to Mason.

Mason bitterly smiled, "Doing my part."

"I heard you talked to Stefan and Faye." Damon said, his eyes darting over to where Faye was laughing with the two girls she was with while listening in.

"They're both nice."

Damon scowled, "Yeah, a lot nicer than me."

Mason just shrugged, "Nice is overrated."

"That's what I think." The raven haired vampire replied with fake enthusiasm.

"You have a good day, Damon." The werewolf said before taking off.

Faye gave the girls she was hanging out with a quick goodbye before walking over to Damon at the same time as Stefan. Damon looked at both of them, sighing.

"Please tell me that you were just bonding." Stefan said.

Damon rolled his eyes before asking the serious questions, "So what's up this faux drama in your relationship?"

"What are you talking about?" Stefan asked, acting oblivious.

Faye gave him incredulous look, "Oh come on, Stefan. You and Elena don't fight, especially not over Damon."

"Drop it, both of you." Stefan growled at them both.

"With pleasure."

One of the little girls Faye had been hanging out with, look up at Damon, holding out a cup of lemonade, "Would you like some lemonade?"

Damon smiled at her, causing the girl to blush, "Thank you, sweetie" She giggled before walking away to join her friends once again. Damon took a sip of it, but immediately spat it back out. Faye rushed to his side as he coughed.

"What is it?" Faye asked him.

"Vervain." Damon said, "Vervain."

"Mason." She growled, knowing who it was. She looked around, her eyes landing on Mason who had a smirk on his face. Her upper lip curled as she snarled, "Stefan, go get Damon some water."

Stefan quickly did that, coming back with a bottle of water. Damon chugged it down to get rid of the disgusting taste of vervain from his mouth. Faye ran a hand through her hair as she stood up.

"I'm gonna kill him." She growled, ready to sniff out Mason and kill him.

Stefan tried to calm her down, "Listen to me! Sit! Sit!"

"I'm done trying to make peace with him!" Faye said, "He's dead!"

"Okay." He replied, nodding, "I don't like it. He's making threats. He could expose us. We need to put him down."

Damon stood up after he finished chugging down his bottle of water, "Alright. Let's do it." He spied Mason going in to the woods, "Woods. Trash duty. Come on."

__

Mason was in the woods when Faye appeared in front of him. He attempted to make a quick escape, but Stefan and Damon were behind him.

"Don't look so surprised. You knew this was inevitable." Faye sneered, he fangs extracting as her veins popped out, "Go ahead, run. I'll give you a head start."

Mason instead ducked and a bullet went flying in the air. It struck Faye in the back, causing her to collapse to the ground. Damon and Stefan were about to rush to her side, but two shots were fired and hit them both. They fell to the ground next to the hybrid, all of them unconscious.

Liz and her deputies walked out of the bushes and over to where the vampires were, "Thank you, Mason." She leaned down and injected them with vervain.

Mason picked up Faye's body as the other two deputies picked up Stefan and Damon's body. They began walking towards the Lockwood estate, towards the cellar. They all stopped when they had gotten there.

"It's down the stairs to the left." Mason told them, Faye still in his arms.

"Careful." Liz told the deputies as they carried Damon and Stefan down the steps, "The wooden bullets and vervain won't keep them down for long." She then looked back at Mason, "What is this place?"

Mason sighed, "Old slave quarters from the original Lockwood house."

Liz nodded before they walked down in to the cellar. Mason threw Faye to the ground, not being gentle at all. Liz walked over to stand in front of the three supernatural creatures lying on the cold floor.

"Thank you, Mason. I appreciate all you've done. We got it from here." Liz told him.

Mason looked over at her, "You're gonna kill them, right?"

"Yes." She replied with a nod, "That's why you should go. Here it's the council, not the law. You can't be a party to this. It's for your own protection."

"Liz, I don't care about..."

"I do and I'm not asking." Liz said sternly, "Goodbye Mason."

Mason sighed, "Don't take any chances." He left the cellar and didn't look back once.

__

Faye woke up, groaning in pain. She looked around the cellar as she tried to sit up. She couldn't, but she could see Damon out of the corner of her eye along with Liz. Liz pointed her gun at Damon and shot him.

"This is how it's gonna work." Liz told him, "Answer me and you don't get shot, understand? How many of you are there?"

Damon looked up at her with pleading eyes, "Liz, please." She shot him, causing him to scream.

"Damon!" Faye cried out, making herself known.

"How did you fool us?" Liz asked, "How do you walk in the sun?"

Damon didn't answer so she shot Faye. Faye screamed in pain, feeling a burning sensation in her side.

"I will drag this out painfully." Liz growled.

Damon called out to Faye before turning to Liz, "She hasn't done anything. If you're my friend, don't hurt her. Please."

"Our friendship was a lie." Liz sneered, "Answer me and I'll kill you fast."

Damon didn't respond, only causing Liz to lower her gun, "They aren't going to say anything. Let's just kill them."

Faye struggled to get up, not wanting to either of the Salvatores to die. She tried to get over to Damon but she was too weak due to the vervain. She collapsed back on the ground, giving up.

"Let's do this. Each with a stake in the heart, then burn them all." Liz told her deputies. They heard a noise, "Check it out."

One of the deputies walked up to the stairs, going to see what the noise was. He was suddenly hit in the back of the head with a wooden plank. Elena stood in front of his unconscious body, holding the plank.

"Elena! What are you doing?" Liz yelled out.

Elena shook her head at the sheriff, "You can't kill them. I'm not gonna let you."

Another sound rung throughout the cellar, causing everyone to jump. The door slammed on it's on. The remaining deputy began to freak out, "What was that?"

"Who else is with you?" Liz asked Elena.

Blonde hair seemed to be the only thing that Faye could see through the blur that rushed at a deputy. She knew it was Caroline. Caroline attacked the deputy, ripping out his throat and sending him to the ground. The deputy Elena had hit woke up and rushed at her, only to be thrown across the room by her punch. Slowly, Caroline emerged from the shadows, exposing her face that was covered in blood. She looked like a demon.

"Hi mom."

__

Faye laid still as Caroline huddled over her, attempting to get out the bullets her mother had shot her with, "Okay, on a count of three. One, two-" Caroline ripped it out, causing Faye to scream.

"You said three!" She cried out.

"I lied." Caroline told her before grabbing one of the dead deputies and bringing it over to her, "Drink. You need to heal."

Faye didn't have to be told twice. She latched her mouth on to the deputy, draining him of his blood. Her wounds began to heal and when they were all done, she stopped. She looked over at Damon and Stefan, checking on them.

"You alright Day?" She asked him.

Damon nodded, "I'm fine. I got some blood. Stef, not so much." He looked over at his brother, "You need to drink some deputy blood."

Stefan shook his head, "No. I'm gonna be fine. It's just gonna take a little bit longer."

"Damon's right you know. If there's ever time to break your diet..." Faye was cut off by Elena.

"He said he didn't want it, okay?" Elena said sternly.

Damon stood up and sighed, "This is a most unfortunate situation. Two deputies dead and you." He looked at Liz, "What am I gonna do with you?"

"You won't tell anyone, will you?" Caroline asked her. Liz didn't answer, "Mom? Mom? Please. Look, I know that we don't get along and that you hate me but I'm your daughter and you'll do this for me, right?" Faye frowned when Liz still refused to respond, "Mom, please. He will kill you."

Liz grew a cold, hard expression, "Then kill me."

"No!" Caroline cried out.

"I can't take this. Kill me now."

Damon stood a step forward and gripped Liz's chin, "But you were gonna drag it out so painfully."

Caroline shook her head, "No, no, no, no, no, no, no!"

"Damon, don't!" Faye yelled.

"Damon, please!" The doppelganger was next.

"Relax guys. No one is killing anybody." He looked at Liz, "You're my friend." Damon then looked at the deputies, "We've got to clean this up."

__

Faye watched as she sat in the cellar of the Salvatore boarding house, waiting for Liz to come up with an excuse to be away from work. They were going to wait until the vervain

"A stomach bug. Yeah, it came on fast. I'll definitely be out tomorrow." Liz told her work over the phone. She looked at Damon, "Or longer. I'll text you. Yeah. Good night." She hung up the phone and handed it to Damon.

"Thank you." Damon told her, "It's not exactly the Ritz, but it's secure. Brought you a good thread count. And once the vervain is worked out of your system, I will compel you, you will forget everything and you will be a free woman."

Caroline, Stefan, and Elena arrived outside of the cell and listened in to the conversation.

"Can you keep Caroline far away from me please? I don't want to see her." Liz said, making Faye grow angry. How could she even say that?

"She's your daughter, Liz." Faye growled.

"Not anymore." Liz replied, "My daughter's gone."

"You have no idea how wrong you are about that." Damon said, looking over at Caroline who was leaving. Faye stood up angrily.

"How the hell can you say that?" She yelled at Liz, "She is your daughter! She's exactly the same as she was a year ago just stronger!" Faye looked at her with cold eyes, "Elena told me how sad you were when you thought she was going to die and here she is, right in front of you and you won't let her explain herself. My mother died when I was eight years old because of a curse a witch put on me. I was raised in the wild by wolves and never ever did I feel the warmth of a mother or someone who loved me." She felt tears in her eyes, "Be glad you saw your daughter grow up."

Faye left the cell, storming her way up to the parlor. She saw Caroline sitting alone on the couch, staring off in to space. Faye slowly sat down next to her.

"Thank you." Caroline spoke up, "For what you said down there."

"It's the truth." Faye said, taking Caroline's hand and giving it a squeeze, "You want me to take you home?"

Caroline shook her head, "I can't go home."

"Why not?"

"Because I'm scared."

Faye grew concerned, "Why are you scared? Caroline, you can talk to me."

"Katherine's gonna be there and she's gonna want me to tell her everything that happened today. She told me I had to spy on Elena and report back to her." Caroline told her.

Faye nodded, "I know and I know Elena's been so mad at you. But then, I tried to put myself in your position so that I could understand why you would do this to her and to Stefan because he's been such a friend to you. Who did she threaten?"

"Matt, she threatened Matt and I'm so scared of her Faye!" Caroline cried, "I am so scared of her."

Faye sighed, "You don't have to be."

"Why is she doing this? What does she want?" Caroline asked.

Faye shrugged as she took the girl in to her arms, "That's the million dollar question."

__

Damon sat down next to Faye in her room, bringing her a glass of bourbon.

"Are you doing okay?" He asked her, "You seemed really upset down there with Liz."

She took the glass of bourbon and knocked it back, "I'm fine."

"No you're not." Damon said, "Tell me what's on your mind."

"You told Liz not to hurt me. Why did you say that?" Faye asked him. He had never seemed to truly car about her, not at all. The first time they had met, he attempted to kill her and now he was trying to save her life.

"Because I care about you. You're like the little sister I've never had but always wanted." He told her truthfully, "Someone to protect and some who doesn't judge my actions like Stefan does because they care about me too much."

She snorted, "Well, trust me. I'm a hybrid who killed both of her parents. I won't judge."

He kissed her forehead and gave her a grin, "Goodnight Faye."

"Goodnight." She said back, "And Damon?"

"Yeah?"

She smiled at him, "I care about you too."
