THIRTY NINE ▶ THE "L" WORD
Hearing her cell phone blaring at full blast was something she didn't want in the morning. Eight was too early for anyone to be ringing her with anything important. Supernatural business didn't usually start until around ten.
Faye groggily lifted her head, turning it to look over at her phone on her night stand. She groaned, face plummeting back into the pillow. She wasn't ready to start her day just yet, not after having barely any sleep.
Her night had been a long one. After telling Elijah that his brother had been killed, the stench of guilt, anger, and grief filled the home. They made Faye want to puke and it kept her up most of the night, tossing and turning. She couldn't help but feel the least bit guilty, seeing as his brother died at the hands of most of her pack.
When the phone produced another loud tone, she huffed and reached for it. Faye pressed answer with her eyes barely open to see the caller's name. She pressed the phone to her ear and spoke.
"You have three minutes to say what you need because it's early and I am too tired for this." She simply put it.
"Meet me at the Lockwood cellar at noon?"
Faye shot up in her bed at the voice on the other line, her mouth gaping. She had waited for what felt like forever to hear it again ever since the voicemail.
"Tyler?" She said to him. She remembered what he had said and she nodded feverishly, "Yeah. Yeah, of course. I can meet you there."
"Good." He replied, "I'll see you then."
He hung before she could say anything else, which was a whole lot. She wanted to know everything and anything he could tell her. Where was he all this time? Why didn't he answer her calls? Did he break the sire bond? Faye was sure she would get all of her answers later and it eased her.
A large smile broke out on her face as she stared down at her phone. Faye dared to let out a girlish squeal in excitement. Her boyfriend, who she had missed dearly over the past few miserable weeks, was back.
She fell back on to her pillow, letting out the deep breath in relief that things were going her way.
__
"Salvatores?" Faye called as she walked into the boarding house. She had gotten ready pretty fast that morning due to her excitement of seeing her boyfriend again, so she had time to kill.
Visiting Stefan who was supposed to keep an eye on Alaric and seeing how the progress was going with getting the other him to come out and spill the beans seemed like the best option out of the few. The other was helping decorate for the dance, but since Rebekah had taken reign with the help of Matt and pissed off Caroline, she wasn't for it.
"Faye, hey." Stefan came into view, holding a bottle of liquor and two glasses, "What are you doing here?"
"Checking in." Faye told him, "Hoping Alaric's dark side has come out yet. Which has it?"
Stefan shook his head and held up the bottle he had, "That's the reason I have this. Hoping he'll fall asleep as soon as he gets some in him." He looked towards her with a quirked eyebrow, "Wanna' help?"
"Please. I have a lot of time to kill." Faye responded, "Lead the way."
Stefan gestured for her to follow him. The two made their way down to the cellar where the door was shut tight for precautions and Alaric laid on the cot with his eyes closed. The minute Faye and Stefan arrived outside the door, he spoke up.
"Do you know how hard it is to fall asleep when that is what you're supposed to do?" He asked.
"Well, do not worry, Faye is here." Stefan told him, "Maybe she can bore you to sleep with one of her talks about science."
Faye elbowed him sharply in the ribs, rolling her eyes, "Obviously, you have not fully gotten rid of the ripper attitude. You're still a sarcastic asshole." She said to Stefan who just grinned. Her gaze turned back to Alaric, "We brought liquor. Maybe it will speed up the process."
Alaric opened his eyes and began to sit up, "What the hell." He said as he placed the open book that had been lying on his chest beside him on the bed.
Stefan opened the door and the two supernaturals walked in. The younger Salvatore handed him the bottle before he went to grab the chair Faye hadn't already sat down in for himself.
"You know, I'll feel decidedly less pathetic if I don't drink alone." Alaric added.
"Oh, I am one step ahead of you." Stefan said, showing two glasses, one for himself and one that was meant for Alaric, but seemed useless now that the man was drinking out of the bottle. The vampire sat down and held out one of the glasses so Alaric could pour some whisky into it. He held the other out to Faye, "You want to take a drink?"
Faye shook her head, "I didn't come here to get drunk."
"Suit yourself." The two men with liquor took a drink, both letting out a refreshed sigh after.
"So, road trip, huh?" Alaric asked Stefan.
Faye frowned, "Road trip?"
"Damon and Elena went to go see Jeremy because of a new discovery." Stefan revealed to Faye, "When we killed Finn, everyone he sired died along with him. Damon and Elena are hoping Jeremy could see Rose to figure out what line we apart of so we can kill Klaus."
Faye's eyes widened at the news. She hadn't expected that to be a problem in the whole thing. She then remembered the one person that was very important to her that she was sure came from Klaus' linage, "Tyler is-"
"We know." Stefan cut her off, taking a sip of his whisky. He didn't say any much further on the Tyler subject and then changed it, "Do you know which line Lacey is apart of?"
"I'll have to ask her." Faye nodded slowly. She then grabbed the glass that she had denied earlier and held it out to Alaric, "I need that drink now."
Alaric complied and poured the whiskey for her. The minute he was done she raised the glass to her lips before knocking back all of the bitter liquid. She winced and rested the glass against her knee.
"So..." Faye began, "Why did you not go with them on the 'road trip'?" She questioned Stefan.
"I needed to stay here."
"Why?" Alaric cut in, "I mean, why you? You know, it doesn't take much to babysit me while I sit here waiting for a psychotic break."
Stefan sighed, "Well, unfortunately, we only have a limited amount of time."
"Before what?" The history teacher inquired.
"Before we have to resort to other methods."
"So, you're worried that you're gonna have to torture him." Faye commented, trying to get him to really admit the reason he didn't go. She knew him better than she thought most people did and was sure he did it with an objective in mind, "You don't think Damon could have done that?"
Stefan huffed, knowing the two weren't going to let up, "Look, Elena needed to go on that road trip with Damon." He explained, "No matter what I go through to get her back; fighting my bloodlust, trying to gain control of my life again..." There was a pause, "None of that matters if she has feelings for somebody else."
Faye took that in slowly, staring at Stefan with sympathy in her eyes. She knew it was hard for him to do all that to get her back and if the outcome was not having her; he would be a wreck. Her promise stayed though, she would be there to pick either Salvatore up when Elena made her choice.
"You know what." She held out her glass towards her history teacher, "I'm gonna' need more whiskey."

Faye spent a while with Stefan and Alaric, just drinking and speaking of the horrible predicament they were all in. She was slightly buzzed by the time she decided it was time to leave and go meet Tyler, but it wore off when she got to the old Lockwood cellar.
The female hybrid stopped by the staircase going down into the cellar, being the only one in the small clearing at the moment. There was a rustle in the leaves, causing her to turn around quickly to look.
When her eyes landed on Tyler, every word she wanted to say to him flew out of her mind. Her mouth was slightly gapped open as she stared at him. His scent eased the worry that she had during the time he wasn't home.
"Hi." She finally spoke up, a smile gracing her face.
"You have no idea how much I've missed you." Tyler replied, moving towards her. He wrapped his arm around her waist while her hands went up to caress his jawline. His lips pressed against hers in an instant, Faye savouring his taste. She missed him horribly and didn't ever want him to leave again.
The two began making their way down to the cellar, being careful on the steps. Faye pushed open the door as she took of the jacket she wore, careful to not disconnect their lips. Tyler did the same before he pressed her against one of the walls. It was then that she tore off his shirt, tossing it to the floor beside them. Faye gave him a soft peck on the lips before resting her forehead against his and smiling.
"I missed you so much." She told him, kissing him lightly once again. He pulled up the shirt she was wearing and tossed it where his was, "It was hell without you here."
"It was hell not to be with you here." Tyler replied, his voice mumbled by him moving to kiss her jaw softly. She hummed softly.
"I love you so much."
The words slipped out of her mouth before she had even realized what she said. Tyler pulled away, shocked by her words.
"You what?"
"I love you." Faye repeated her words and she meant them. She loved Tyler Lockwood. He willingly left the city so he could break a sire bond so he wouldn't hurt her. He made her happy and it seemed that distance did make the heart grow fonder.
Tyler slowly grew a large smile on his face. He cupped her cheek and pressed a sweet, passionate kiss to her lips. He moved down, beginning to kiss along her collarbone. Between every kiss, the male hybrid muttered 'I love you', causing Faye to smile.
When his lips traveled lower, Faye let out a sigh, shutting her eyes in complete bliss.
__
With her head laying on Tyler's bare chest, Faye snuggled against him. A blanket was shrugged over them, keeping their bare bodies warm along with candles Tyler had lit after their second round around them. The past two hours were full of love and Faye felt completely at ease for once. Tyler's fingers running through her wild hair calmed her.
"Did I mention I miss you? Bad." Tyler told her. She let out a giggle and pressed a kiss to his chest.
"Mm, at some point we are going to do this in an actual bed, right?" Faye questioned, "I love this whole setup you got here, but my bed's got some nice springs-" His chuckle cut her off, which she joined in with.
"Yes, I promise." He said, "Once I figure out how to deal with Klaus."
"Tell him to go fuck himself." Faye suggested, "You broke his sire bond, you won't have to deal with him anymore."
Tyler let out a sigh in response, "It's easier said than done. Besides, I won't know if it's broken for sure until I test it."
Faye's eyebrows furrowed together at his words. She sat up, using her elbows to support her, "Wait, I thought that's why you came back, because you feel different. Less loyal to Klaus different."
"I do feel different." He assured her, reaching up to tuck a piece of hair behind her ear, "I feel freer. Way more myself. All I know is I just turned about a hundred times in the Appalachian Mountains. If I can get through that, I can get through anything."
Faye gave him a half smile before speaking again, "Good. Because Klaus might not be our only problem."
"Why?" Tyler sat up quickly, his eyes filled with worry, "What else did I miss?"
"Stefan and them killed an Original and then every vampire that Original had ever turned mysteriously died along with him." Faye revealed, "Right now, Damon seems desperate to figure out which Original created their vampire bloodline and if he finds out it wasn't Klaus, they're probably all gonna kill him."
"But Klaus turned me." Tyler realized as she finished, "So if he dies, I die."
"I know." Faye said, "They know, but they don't seem to care."
It was obvious the statement worried him, it worried her too. Faye was quick to try to calm him. She placed her hand on his bicep and sighed.
"Hey, you know I won't let them." Faye rubbed his arm comfortingly, "Yes, I hate Klaus as much as the next person and I want him dead, but I'm not going to let it happen if I lose you in the process. I love you."
Tyler was awestruck by her words for the second time that day. He stared at her with a small smile playing on his lips. She canted her head to the side and blushed.
"What?" She asked him.
"Has anyone told you that you are the most amazing person in the world?"
Faye became flustered and hid her face by bowing it down. A large grin was plastered on her face and she giggled softly. He placed his hand on her chin and lifted her head up so she would face him. He leaned over, pressing his plump lips against hers.
"You should keep telling me. I like it a lot." Faye said, laying back down on the makeshift bed they had made on the floor. Tyler rolled his eyes and nudged her arm with his, "Ooo, watch it Lockwood, I'm still stronger than you."
He responded by rolling over on top of her and pinning her against the floor. There was a cocky grin on his face that Faye just felt the need to wipe off as he said, "Are you sure?"
Using her hybrid strength, Faye flipped them over so she had him back pressed against the floor and her holding him down. He let out an oof as she did so and tried to push himself up, but she had him pinned.
"Yeah, I'm sure."
Tyler let out a laugh in response before placing his hands on her hips, "I'm fine with you being the stronger one if this is what it includes."
Faye scoffed, "Tyler, has anyone ever told you you're a pig."
"Multiple times. Many by Caroline."
The strawberry blonde rolled her eyes. Tyler only grinned, pulling her done once again so their lips could meet in sweet euphoria.
__
The two made their way back to the Daniels home before dark. Faye had said Tyler could stay there since he was attempting to lay low and stay out of Klaus' way. When they walked inside, they were met with a confused Elijah and Lacey who she had to explain everything to. Both them were fine with it, but Faye owed Lacey and Elijah. She dealt with it because it was better than them saying no.
"So, Lacey said you can stay here as long as you want." Faye told Tyler when she stepped up to her room where he was looking around.
"Did she say we could share the bed?" Tyler asked, quirking an eyebrow.
"No." Faye said, faking a pout, "She said you could sleep in the guest room. At least until we figure out what Damon and Stefan find out about Klaus."
"And if Klaus didn't create their line and they try to kill him?" His worries were still not depleted despite Faye's attempts to reassure him earlier.
Faye sighed and walked forward. She placed her hands on either side of his face, "Tyler, I just got you back." She took a pause to kiss him before speaking again, "I'm not losing you again." She pulled away from him, "I'm going to make sure everything's set up for you in there."
Tyler nodded and she left the room. She went across the hall into the guest room and began making up the bed. As she did so, Tyler looked through all the photos she had tucked into her mirror and had on her dresser. He paused when his eyes landed on one that seemed to have fallen. It was a sketch of Faye and a horse, signed by Klaus. He frowned and picked it up.
"Klaus drew this for you?" Tyler called out to Faye.
"Huh?" She responded, coming back into his few. She walked over from the guest room back to her room.
"That's pretty creepy." He continued on talking about the drawing.
"Yeah, Klaus is pretty creepy." Faye said as she walked towards him, "Even when he's trying to be charming."
Tyler's frown deepened even more, "Charming? Does Klaus have a thing for you or something?" He questioned.
"No." Faye shook her head, though Klaus had said otherwise, "As far as I know that man isn't capable of human emotion."
"I'm serious." Tyler said, "What the hell happened while I was gone?"
"Tyler. Nothing." Faye told him with her eyebrows furrowed together, "Nothing happened."
"Then why'd you keep this?" He asked in an assertive tone.
"I don't know!" She yelled back at him, feeling defensive of the drawing.
Tyler was visibly upset by it. He pushed the paper into her hands and stared at her, his hard expression not breaking, "I think I'm gonna find someplace else to spend the night." The Lockwood boy moved around her, making his way out the door.
"Tyler." Faye attempted to get his attention as he left the room, "Tyler!" She called after him, but it only fell upon deaf ears. She heard the front door open and shut within second from each other.
Faye sighed and sat down on the edge of her bed. She looked down at the sketch Klaus had given her, feeling the need to burn it. Instead, she tossed it next to her and glared at it.
"Stupid drawing." She mumbled, resting her elbows on her knees and her head in her hands, "Stupid Klaus."
A knock sounded at her door and she knew exactly who it was. She lifted her head slightly and looked over towards Lacey who had a sheepish smile on her face.
"Let me guess, you heard?"
"Hard not to." Lacey told her, moving over to her bed. She sat down next to her niece and ran her hand through Faye's hair, "Want to talk about it?"
"Please."
Lacey chuckled and reached across Faye to grab the sketch she had tossed aside moments ago, "So, why did you really keep this?"
"I don't know." Faye said, looking over at it, "I just like it. It's nice, but it doesn't mean anything to me. Klaus doesn't mean anything to me except that he's the enemy."
"Is that truly how you feel?" Lacey narrowed her eyes at the strawberry blonde, "That he's just the enemy?"
"Lacey I swear to god I will punch you right in the face-"
"I'm just joking." She immediately said with a teasing smile on her face. She pinched Faye's cheek, "Any mention of Klaus gets you riled up. It's hilarious." The hybrid responded with an eyeroll and moved her gaze away from her aunt.
There was a few moments of silence before Faye looked back over at Lacey and asked, "Hey, Lace, do you know who originated your bloodline? Like which Original's blood is running through your veins?"
"That's an odd question." Lacey replied, "But it's Klaus'. He turned me because if I didn't I would have to separate from Charlie and live my own life, so I asked him to turn me."
Faye's eyes were widened and full of fear now that Lacey had said that. If Damon discovered Klaus wasn't the originator of their line, he would Klaus and she would not only lose Tyler, but Lacey as well. Anxiety filled her whole being as she sat in complete silence with a mouth agape.
"You should get some bed, kiddo, you sound like you had a rough day." Lacey pressed a kiss to her niece's temple before getting up from beside her, "Goodnight, I love you."
"I love you too." She said as she watched her aunt leave. When she was gone, Faye laid back on her bed and hoped to god that wouldn't be the last time she ever said that to her.

A/N: So, this chapter is shit like the last three, but it's these episodes! They're not my favorite. The only thing I actually enjoy in this chapter is the Stefan, Faye, and Alaric scene. The other's were okay, but I feel like they weren't the best. And this chapter is shorter than most because this episode is kind of shabby unless you have a Damon x OC fic.
So, Fayler. I know many of you are gonna go ew why, but it's necessary. I want Faye to experience everything before she goes with Klaus and then she can get him. They won't last through the next season so don't worry. And, I can't just have Faye jump Klaus' bones already, it's not in her character to do so.
Reminder: I am doing a Q&A after this season of FTHOAW ends! IF you have a question you can either comment it on this chapter, but I prefer if you would do it on the one titled 'Q&A NOTICE' so it's easier to rifle through them.
Also, ONLY THREE MORE CHAPTERS LEFT THIS SEASON OF FTHOAW ISN'T THAT CRAZY! I can't wait to write the next one. Plus that, the next chapter is the fortieth chapter making this the longest book I have on wattpad! Wooh.
Next chapter: Decade dances, witch troubles, and a Klaye scene I have been waiting to write for forever.
REMEMBER I NEED TEN COMMENTS THAT DON'T INCLUDE THE WORD "UPDATE" OR ANYTHING LIKE IT FOR ME TO DO EXACTLY THAT.
