SIX ▶ SAVE ELENA SQUAD
Faye picked the clothes off the clothes line in the backyard of the boarding house like she did after every run she had in he wolf form. She threw on one of Stefan's old flannels from the 90's and a pair of leggings that hung there. She pushed her hair out of her face as she walked in to the boarding house, the flannel falling off her shoulder.
"Go get dressed." Stefan told Faye as soon as she entered, "Properly."
She frowned, "Why?"
"We're going to school." He replied instantly.
"School?" Faye asked, "You're actually going to go to school?"
Stefan scoffed, "I go to school."
"Not unless there's a dance or some sort of fundraiser. You never go to school." Faye told him, "What's happening today?"
"Nothing I just thought it would be nice to go to school with you and make everyone jealous because of my flashy car." Stefan said with a shrug.
Faye gave him a look, "No. You want to see Elena, that's why you're going." She just grinned, "I don't mind. I mean, she's your epic love and all."
"Just go get dressed Faye."
"I'll be down in ten minutes."

Faye walked up to her locker and sighed, banging her head against it. Everything reeked of depression and concern and it was pissing her off. Everyone was morning the loss of the high school student Sarah and were concerned about the missing girl Aimee Bradley. Little did everyone know, they were going to have another person to mourn soon due to another supernatural creature.
She began pulling all her stuff out of her locker, her history and math things. She shut her locker again after she got everything she needed, resting her head on it once again.
Tyler walked up to the locker next to her and attempted to open it, but instead, he broke the lock. Faye growled, looking over him.
"Chill out." She told him, "Breaking your lock like that is going to attract some unwanted attention."
Tyler rolled his eyes, "I'm having a bad day so excuse me."
"Oh I can tell. You reek of anxiety and anger." Faye stood up straight, letting him get a good look at who she was, "It's annoying."
"You're the girl from the party last night. Faye." Tyler said, "How am I reeking of anxiety and anger?"
Faye groaned, "I thought you were a wolf. How can you not smell how people are feeling? I can." Then, she realized what she said, "And I wasn't supposed to say that."
Tyler's eyes were wide as he looked at her, "You're a wolf?"
"I've got to go." Faye rushed out quickly before turning and running down the hall to Stefan's locker. She took no time to walk over to Stefan with a panicked look on her face, "I did something that I didn't mean to."
"What did you do, Faye?" Stefan asked, concerned, "Did you try to-"
Faye groaned, "No I didn't try to eat the math teacher again. I might have let something slip that wasn't supposed to."
"And what was it?"
Before Faye could answer, Jeremy walked up to Stefan. The teenager had an upset kind of look on his face. Stefan looked over at him and smiled.
"Hey Jeremy." He greeted him.
"Look, Elena's got to let me know if I'm supposed to cover for her." Jeremy told him, "Jenna's cool with the two of you but you guys are pushing it."
Stefan frowned, "What are you talking about?"
"You and Elena." Jeremy said, sighing, "Look, I'm glad you guys are back together but if she's gonna sleep over..."
Stefan shook his head, "Wait, wait..." He cut Jeremy off, "Hold on a minute. We're not back together."
"Wait..." Jeremy frowned, "She didn't stay at your place last night? Not even with Faye?"
"No, I mean I saw her at the party but that was it. She didn't sleep over."
Faye spoke up, "Why are you even asking this?"
"'Cause her bed hadn't been slept in and Mrs. Lockwood said that her car was still in the
driveway." Jeremy told her and Stefan, "Where is she then?"
__
Faye groaned as she stood outside with Damon and Stefan. She was skipping math (which honestly did not bother her) just to talk about what could have happened to Elena (even though she was warming up to the doppelganger, that bothered her). She tapped her foot as she listened to Stefan's panicked voice.
"This has Katherine written all over it." Stefan said, running his hand through his hair.
Damon sighed, annoyed, "Katherine's in the tomb. Trust me; I'm the one who shut her in."
"Did you?"
Was Stefan really going there, Faye thought to herself. Damon looked at Stefan, "Did I what, Stefan?"
"Well, I know the hold that Katherine has on you." Stefan replied with a shrug.
Faye scowled, "Stefan! He sealed her in there! I watched him do it and heard her pathetic cries afterwards." She then thought about something, "She did say something to me and Damon right before he shut her in. We thought she was lying."
Stefan quirked an eyebrow, "What did she say?"
"Elena's in danger." Damon told him.
"What? And you didn't think you should ask her to elaborate?" Stefan asked his older brother.
Damon sighed in frustration, "Everything she says is a lie. How am I supposed to know if she's gonna start spouting out the truth?"
"We have to go talk to her." Stefan began walking away.
Faye retaliated and grabbed Stefan's shoulder, "Hell no! Let me tell you how that's gonna go: We're gonna go ask her for help, she's gonna negotiate her release which we're gonna be dumb enough to give her and she's gonna get out and kill us! This is exactly what she wants!"
"I don't really care."
Faye growled at Stefan. He didn't care if he died for Elena? She was just a human doppelganger who was stringing both of them along. Also, did it not matter who cared if he did die?
Damon agreed with Faye, "It's a bad idea, Stefan."
"It's Elena."
__
"How does this work?" Jeremy asked Bonnie as they stood in Alaric's classroom. Faye sat in the chair at the desk, spinning round in it as she overlooked the locating spell Bonnie was going to do.
Bonnie spread the map out further on the table, "I'll use your blood to draw energy for the tracking spell. You're blood related; it'll make the connection stronger."
Stefan walked in to the room and sighed, "Alright, Alaric said we've got to clear out of here within 10 minutes. I've got weapons, he stocked me up."
"Are you ready?" Bonnie asked Jeremy, holding up a small pocket knife. Jeremy looked at it nervously.
Faye rolled her eyes, "Yes! He's ready." He gave her a look, "Stop being a pussy, Jer."
Bonnie sighed before placing the blade on Jeremy's palm. She pulled at the knife, slicing his skin open. Jeremy winced as he turned his hand over and let his blood drop on the map. Bonnie concentrated, chanting the spell. The blood drops merged together and traveled across the map. It finally stopped.
"There. She's there." Bonnie said.
Faye got up and walked over to where the map was, frowning at where the blood stopped, "That's 300 miles away."
"No Bonnie. We need a more exact location than that." Stefan told her.
Bonnie shook her head, "That's as close as I can get."
"We can map it, aerial view will show us what's around there, help us narrow down the area." Jeremy told Stefan.
Stefan nodded in approvement before making his way towards the door, "Perfect. Call me with whatever you find."
"No, no, I'm coming with you!" Jeremy protested.
"No Jeremy, you're not."
"No, I'm gonna just sit here. What if she's hurt okay?" The younger Gilbert said.
Suddenly, the smell of blood hit Faye's nose, causing her to look over a Bonnie. Bonnie had a stream of blood running from her nose.
"You okay?" Faye mouthed to her. Bonnie just nodded, wiping the blood away.
Faye turned back to the conversation.
"Or worse? What if she's...?" Jeremy was panicking.
"She's not." Stefan assured, "You two go back to your house just in case. I'll call you the minute I find her."
Jeremy shook his head, "Well, you can't do this alone."
Damon walked through the door at that moment, "He's not. Let's go."
"You're coming with me?" Stefan asked.
"It's Elena." Damon replied, "Lets go."
Faye jumped to her feet as they began walking out of the door of the classroom, "Wait!" Both of the Salvatores turned around, "Aren't you forgetting something?"
Damon looked up at the ceiling, fake pondering for a moment, "I don't think so."
"You need all the help you can get. So, I'm coming along, offering up my lady hybrid power." Faye told them, swinging her arms around their shoulders.
Stefan frowned, "I thought you didn't like Elena."
"But I like you both and who's going to protect you while you both protect Elena." Faye replied with a smile, "But we need to pick up something first."
__
"Why are you here?" Lacey asked as she looked at the man in front of her, "You only come when you need something from me."
"You're the best tracker I know, Lacina. I'm still trying to find my eldest brother." He replied as he sipped his cup of tea, "I'm also still wondering about your niece and her curse."
"Well-" She was cut off by the sound of glass shattering and a groan in pain, "Wait here."
Lacey walked toward the front foyer, ready to fight if she needed to. When she walked in there, she saw Faye lying on the ground, holding her head.
"Faye, goddammit." Lacey muttered, "You broke the window."
Faye pulled a piece of glass out of her hand, "Well, I didn't think you were home and I needed something."
"And what is it you need?" Lacey asked, quirking an eyebrow.
"Dad had a blow torch. I remember him having a blow torch because we used to have bonfires outside while Mom was a wolf." Faye said, tapping her temple, "It's coming back really slowly but it's something I remember."
Lacey rolled her eyes, "Get to the point."
"Where is it?" Faye asked her.
"In the basement..." The vampire replied, causing the hybrid to take off rushing towards the staircase, "Faye! Why do you need it?"
"Vampire bitch took human bitch so me and the Salvawhores are going to get her back!" Faye said as she looked around the basement for the blowtorch, "I wanted a cool weapon!"
Lacey sighed, "Faye! Don't kill anyone!"
"I killed a werewolf last week! Well, Damon did it but I tortured him a bit!" Faye came running back up the stairs with the torch in hand, "He was good looking though." She held up the torch and smirked, "I'm keeping this by the way." She ran up and kissed her aunt's cheek before rushing out once again, "Bye Lacey!"
"Be safe!" Lacey sighed before walking back in to the dining room where her guest was sitting. He looked up at her, an amused smirk on his lips.
"And who was that?" He asked.
"That was Faye." Lacey told him, sliding in to the seat, "My niece."
__
Faye sat in the back of Damon's Camaro, sipping at a blood bag and holding one of the grenades.
"Alaric sure likes his weapons." Damon commented as he looked at her, "What the hell is that?"
Faye shrugged, tossing it up, "I don't know, it's a vervain bomb or a grenade launcher or something like that." She looked at the clip, "What if I just...?" She tugged on it, not pulling it off to trigger it.
Damon's eyes widened, "No! Faye, don't you dare! Not while we're in the car!"
"Oh, that's what you care about. Not, 'Faye, don't blow that up. It will hurt you and Stefan.' So inconsiderate, Damon." She replied, mocking his voice.
"I do not sound like that." Damon said, scoffing.
"You do. You attempt to sound so dark and mysterious, but you sound horrible." Faye sipped at her blood bag, a smirk on her face.
Stefan rolled his eyes, "Will you both please shut up? You're acting childish." He looked over at Damon and sighed, "How much further is it?"
"About 80 miles." Damon told him, looking down at the map.
Faye sat up, leaning forward, "Who do you think took her?"
"Someone from Katherine's past." He responded, "She said she was running from someone. They got the wrong girl."
Stefan looked at the other two in the car and gave them a look of appreciation, "Thank you for helping me. Both of you."
"Awh, Stef. You're such a softy." Faye said before pinching his cheek.
Damon, did not react like that, "Can we not do the whole road trip bonding thing? The cliche of it all makes me itch."
"Oh, come on Damon." Stefan said, "We both know that you being in this car has absolutely nothing to do with me anyway."
Damon sighed, "The elephant in the room lets out a mighty roar."
"Well, it doesn't have to be an elephant." Stefan said, "Let's talk about it."
"There's nothing to talk about."
"That's not true. I'm sure there is. Just get it out. I mean, are you in this car because you want to help your little brother save the girl that he loves? Or is it because you love her too? Hmm?" Damon didn't reply, causing Stefan to groan, "I mean come on, express yourself. I happen to like road trip bonding."
Damon looked at him with a scowl, "Keep it up, Stefan. I can step out of helping as easily as I stepped in."
"No, you see that's the beauty of it. You can't."
Faye groaned, "Okay. Stop it with the teasing. You both are assholes."
"Fine, whatever."
__
"We're getting close. Jeremy said there's an access road just past mile marker 6." Stefan told Damon and Faye.
Damon took a blood bag and sipped from it. Stefan looked at it hungrily, "If you want some, just ask."
"I want some."
Faye's eyes widened, "What? Stefan you want human blood?"
"I do, Faye." Stefan answered.
Damon faked a look of adoration, "Ah, that's so sweet. You're gonna be all big and strong and save your girl but don't worry, I've got your back. It'll be fine."
"I'm not joking." The youngest Salvatore replied, "I've been drinking a little every day. I'm slowly increasing my intake and building up my strength."
Faye shrugged and tossed him a blood bag, not thinking twice about it, "Does Elena know you're drinking blood?" She asked, honestly curious.
"I've been drinking hers."
"Hmm, how romantic." Damon said bitterly, sipping at the blood, "Since we're road trip bonding, remember the days when all you lived for was blood? You were the guy who ripped someone apart just for the fun of it."
Stefan snorted and looked over at his brother, "You mean when I was more like you?"
"Yes, Stefan, exactly. Back when you put blood into me so I could be a big bad vampire. I wonder if Elena would be so quick to open her veins to that guy." Damon tapped the steering wheel, looking over at Stefan, "By the way, what happened to that guy? He was a hoot."
Faye hit Damon upside the head, "Maybe he found something to live for. Shut up and keep your eyes on the road, dimwit."
__
Damon stopped the car in the middle of nowhere, looking over towards Stefan and Faye, "The house should be just beyond those trees. Wait, I got a lot more experience than you do with those sorts of things."
Faye rolled her eyes, "What's your point?"
"My point is, whoever has Elena is probably who was after Katherine in 1864 and before that." Damon said.
Stefan raised an eyebrow, "And?"
"And it puts them at 500 years old and strong." Damon nervously glanced at Stefan, "Are you sure you want to do this?"
Stefan didn't change his mind, "Yeah, I'm certain I want to do it."
"Because if we go in that house, we may not come back out."
"Alright, then I won't come out." Stefan replied with a shrug.
Faye groaned, "So, noble, Stefan."
"I can't think of a better reason to die, but if you want to stay here, I'll totally understand." Stefan walked towards the trees, not looking back. Faye looked over at Damon and sighed before following Stefan, Damon trailing behind her.
__
Elena was scared. She had no reason not to be. A vampire named Elijah had just walked in and sniffed her neck, making sure she was human, and now he was dragging her along with him.
"We have a long journey head of us. We should be going." Elijah said, standing up straight.
Elena looked at Rose, her kidnapper, with pleading eyes, "Please, don't let him take me." Everyone ignored her.
"One last piece of business and we're done." Elijah walked towards Rose's accomplice, Trevor.
"I've waited so long for this day, Elijah. I'm truly, very sorry." Trevor told the older vampire.
Elijah shook his head, "Oh no, your apologies not necessary."
"Yes, yes it is. You trusted me with Katerina and I failed you."
"Oh yes, you are the guilty one and Rose aided you because she was loyal to you and that now I honor." Elijah seemed to scowl at Trevor, "Where was your loyalty?"
Trevor shook his head in shame, "I beg your forgiveness."
"So granted."
Trevor smiled. Elijah did not grant him freedom at all, maybe in his own way. He swung his fist, knocking Trevor's head clean off his body. Elena's eyes widened with shock as Rose cried out for her friend.
"You...!"
Elijah sighed, turning away from her, "Don't, Rose, now that you are free." He looked at Elena, "Come."
Elena shook her head, "No, what about the moonstone?"
Elijah was now listening to her, "What do you know about the moonstone?"
"I know that you need it and I know where it is." She replied.
"Yes?"
"I can help you get it." Elena told Elijah.
Elijah took a step towards her, "Tell me where it is."
"It doesn't work that way."
"Are you negotiating with me?" He looked at Rose, looking for some sort of explanation.
Rose just shrugged, "It's the first I've heard of it."
Elijah attempted to compel it out of her, but it didn't work. She stiffened up as his eyes raked her body, landing on her necklace, "What is this vervain doing around your neck?" He ripped it from her neck, throwing it across the room. Elena looked at it sadly before he grabbed her hand, forcing her to look at him, "Tell me where the moonstone is."
"In the tomb, underneath the church ruins." Elena said, not having a choice to not speak at all.
"What is it doing there?" Elijah compelled her again.
"It's with Katherine."
"Interesting."
Suddenly, there was the sound of glass breaking and a girl giggling. A faint smile spread across Elena's face as she recognized the laugh. Faye.
"What is that?" Elijah asked Rose.
"I don't know." She replied.
"Who else is in this house?"
"I don't know."
Elijah grabbed Elena and they moved to another part of the house. A rush of wind hit them as firey red hair flew past them. Elijah threw Elena in to Rose's arms.
"Rose." Elijah said threateningly.
Rose shook her head as she held on to Elena, "I don't know who it is."
"Up here." Someone said. Elena knew it was Stefan. Elijah sped towards the voice.
Damon was the one who spoke up next, "Down here."
"I'm right behind you." Faye whispered in to his ear before speeding away quickly. Elijah turned around, receiving a stake shot at his hand. When he had pulled it out and looked up, Rose and Elena were gone. Elena was with Stefan while Rose was with Damon. Faye still sped around, taunting and teasing Elijah.
"Excuse me. To whom it may concern, you're making a great mistake if you think that you can beat me. You can't. Do you hear that?" He broke the wooden coat rack, making a stake, "I repeat, you cannot beat me. So I want the girl, I'm gonna count to 3 or heads will roll. Do we understand each other?"
Elena appeared at the top of the stairs, "I'll come with you, just please don't my friends, they just wanted to help me out."
Elijah went up the stairs, stake still in hand, "What game are you playing with me?"
Elena threw the vervain grenade in his face, causing him to scream as he face burned. He quickly recovered and attempted to go to Elena. Faye jumped on his back, her fangs tearing in to his skin. Elijah threw her off of him, throwing Faye to the floor. They both fell down the stairs, Elijah getting up almost immediately after. He went towards her but Damon arrived and staked Elijah, pushing him up against the door. Then he was dead.
Rose left as soon as Elijah was staked. Damon attempted to follow her, but Elena shook her head.
"Just let her go." Elena told him. Damon smiled at her and she smiled back before rushing in to Stefan's arms.
The younger Salvatore hugged her, "Hey come here. Are you hurt? Are you okay?"
Elena mouthed, "thank you" to Damon and he mouthed "you're welcome" back. Faye finally got off the ground, rubbing her back.
"Guy knew how to pack a punch." She said, groaning, "But he tasted good." She took her pinkie and wiped the blood of the corner of her mouth, liking the finger.
Damon looked at her, "You weren't supposed to bite him, Faye."
"I panicked and I was hungry. Plus, biting is my natural instinct." Faye said with a shrug, "But, he's dead we're safe. That's all that matters right."
Damon nodded before embracing her, "Never do that again."
"I won't unless it's absolutely needed."
__
"Where's Elena?" Damon asked as he poured himself a drink. Faye was walking in to the room when Stefan had entered, drying her hair with a towel. She was dirty and covered in blood so she needed a shower.
"She's home." Stefan informed him.
Faye frowned, looking at him through her wet, tangled, curls, "And you're here why?"
"Because she wanted to be with Jeremy." He replied.
Damon sighed before pouring Stefan a drink and handing it to him, "Here."
Stefan took a sip of it, "Thanks. Listen, what Rose told Elena about the curse..."
"We know. We'll keep her safe." Faye replied, walking over to the liquor cabinet.
"You know, the only way we're gonna be able to do that is if Damon and I not fighting each other." Stefan looked at Damon, "We let Katherine come between us. If we let that happen with Elena, we're not gonna be able to protect her."
Damon nodded, understanding, "Yes Stefan, I heard it all before." He began walking away, but Stefan stopped him.
"Hey."
Damon turned, "What?"
"I'm sorry."
"About what?"
"For being the guy who made you turn 145 years ago." Stefan said. Faye looked between both of them, suddenly sensing the tension.
Damon sighed, "Enough Stef, it's late. Don't need to rehash that."
"You know what? I've never said it out loud. I guess I just need to say it and you need to hear it. I'm sorry. What I did was selfish. I didn't want to be alone." Stefan shrugged, "I guess I just needed my brother."
The Kim Possible beep interrupted the sweet moment, causing both brothers to turn towards Faye. She smiled sheepishly before pulling her phone out of her hoodie's pocket. She opened up the text she had gotten from Caroline.
MY HOUSE ASAP.
Faye sighed before nodding towards the door, "Gotta run. I'll be back as soon as I can." She told the brothers and then used her super speed to leave the boardinghouse.
__
"Blondie! I'm here!" Faye yelled as she walked through the door of Caroline's home, "You ask me to come at the worst times. Stefan and Damon were having quite the heart to heart."
She walked in to the living room where she had sniffed out Caroline, only to see her with Tyler. Her eyes widened.
"Please tell me you didn't invite me over to have a freaky threesome because I do not wish to take part in at all." Faye said quickly, ready to back out of the house.
Caroline groaned, "Faye. I called you over for something serious."
"Serious enough that I needed to leave the comfort of the boardinghouse to journey to your home?" Faye asked.
Tyler finally spoke up, "I know what you are, Faye. Caroline told me."
"You told him?!" Faye yelled at Caroline, "That's super top secret information!"
Caroline rolled her eyes, "Faye, shut up. I thought you would be better at helping him since you're partially a werewolf and you've been one for a long time."
Faye sighed, "Fine." She walked over to sit down across from Tyler, "So, you know what I am. Do you know everything about it?"
Tyler shook his head, "Caroline just said you were a hybrid. Both a vampire and werewolf."
"I've actually been this way ever since I was born. A witch put a curse on my vampire dad, causing him to get my werewolf mom pregnant. I came out as a hybrid and we all lived in peace until the night of my eight birthday when I shifted in to a wolf." Faye began explaining to him.
Tyler's eyes widened, "You killed someone when you were eight?"
"The witch triggered my curse, not a kill. But I did kill my parents after that." She informed him, "Then I had been stuck in wolf form for ten years until about two months ago Caroline over here broke me free of it because I recognized her as pack." She may have tweaked the story a bit, but most of it was true.
Faye got up and made her way over to the liquor cabinet in the house, grabbing bourbon. She poured some for Tyler and Caroline before passing it to them.
"Liquor? Really?" Tyler asked.
Caroline shrugged, "It actually helps with all that inside jittery stuff."
"I'm hot. It's like my skin is on fire." Tyler told them.
"That happens." Faye said, "Werewolves are naturally warm while vampires are cold. I'm in the middle since I'm both."
"At the beginning, I was very, very emotional. Everything was heightened." Caroline told Tyler.
"I have that." Tyler said, "Who else is like you?"
"In the town, there's just us." Faye told him, "What about you?"
"Just me and my uncle Mason but he left town." Tyler replied, causing Faye to stiffen slightly. He didn't notice, which was good.
Caroline sighed, "Look, Tyler... You can't tell anyone, okay? Not about you, not about me. No one will understand."
"I know."
"I want to tell you about my mom and yours and the founding families and the council but I need you to promise me no one will find out about us." Caroline told him, "This is life and death, Tyler."
He nodded, "I have no one else to tell. I'm sorry about earlier. It's just, I'm alone with this. It's gonna happen to me. On the next full moon, I'm gonna turn and I won't be able to stop it. I'm scared."
"Tyler... No.... it's." Faye reached over and pulled him in to a hug, letting him cry softly on her shoulder, "I'm going to help you, okay? I will help you through all this."
"I always help pack."
