FORTY THREE ▶ THE AWAKENING
The sun rose in the town of death in the morning, its rays shining down on the grounds where many had passed on to another world. The human citizens would see it as another normal day where they would go about their life without worrying about the demons that lurk in the shadows, waiting to taste the blood that ran through them. They would get up, go on about their life and face the world as they normally would. Faye Daniels, on the other hand, would try when there was a enormous possibility she would fail.
In her nineteen years of life, the strawberry blonde hybrid had been through hell and back. She had faced death without problem and dealt with more loss than any regular teenage girl would have. It hadn't been those things that had brought her down to her knees, crippled by loss. Through all of it, she had trudged on with her head held high, but now, she didn't know if she could continue that.
The loss of Tyler Lockwood and dare she say, Klaus Mikaelson, had shattered her. Losing her first love, the boy she gave everything to, caused her to cry out in rage. Faye had failed him. Her job as an alpha was to protect her pack and she hadn't been able to save his life as she had promised. Not only had she let down him, but she had allowed Elena Gilbert who had been turned after an accident which Rebekah caused.
Klaus wasn't any different. She had let him die when there was more she could've done to stop Alaric from driving that stake into his heart. She could've fought harder to keep him alive like he had done for her. He went to save her when the same man was prepared to murder her with the same weapon, but she hadn't done the same.
Faye couldn't let it drag her down much longer. She had a life to live, one that she could do without the two hybrids who had caused feelings she didn't still quiet understand for one of them to erupt throughout her. She had to help the doppelganger turned vampire, someone she could possible save from impending doom unlike Klaus and Tyler.
The female hybrid trudged into the kitchen, dressed and ready for whatever day she was going to have. She had been awake for hours, having only gotten the smallest amount of sleep due to her constant sobs and her phone blowing up with texts from Stefan and Damon updating her on Elena. Lacey was already sitting at the table with her usual mug full of blood, staring at a piece of paper with a solemn look on her face.
"Hey." Faye greeted her aunt simply, heading over to the fridge to grab her own blood bag.
Lacey repeated her words, not looking up at the strawberry blonde, "How'd you sleep?"
"Not very well." The younger Daniels answered as she poured her blood bag into a mug before placing it into the microwave for a few seconds. When it was finished, she took it out and slowly began sipping the red liquid, "What about you?"
"Fine." Lacey replied shortly, "Do you hear Elijah come home last night?"
Faye raised her eyebrows in wonder, "He came home?"
"Yep." Lacey said, her voice seeming strained. She slid the piece of paper she had been staring at ever since Faye had walked into the room to the said girl, "And then left."
Faye frowned and placed her mug aside so she could pick up the parchment that had been passed to her. Her eyes trailed along the elegant script, taking in each word that had been written down. With the finishing signature that belonged to her godfather, her heart dropped and the depression that had been building up in the wake of the deaths that had happened, had just been topped of with another heavy load of anger and sadness.
"So he just left?" The hybrid questioned, her voice raised in anger, "Without saying goodbye?"
"Packed all his bags and everything. Left no trace that he was even here." The blonde vampire sitting at the table looked down sadly.
Faye shook her in disbelief, "I can't believe he would do this. I know he just lost Klaus, but you don't just up and leave like that." She hadn't even realized until then how that must of affected her aunt. Elijah was the love of her immortal life and they were finally together after years of being apart. Now, he was gone.
The strawberry blonde looked towards Lacey and sighed, "I'm so sorry, Lacey."
"It's alright." The woman waved her hand, despite how she was obviously bothered by it, "I guess it's payback for me running out on him back in the twenties. I just thought this was our moment. That we were finally going to be together."
Tears welled up in the woman's eyes. She went to speak again, but a choked sobbed came out instead of words. Faye let out a soft sigh before pulling the woman to her feet. She pulled Lacey into her arms, allowing her to cry on her shoulder. Her aunt had done it for her before and it was time she returned the favor.
Lacey sobbed into the strawberry blonde's shoulder for a while, but the woman suddenly stopped and went limp in her arms. Faye looked at her aunt confusedly, lifting up the woman.
"Lacey?" There was no response except for the sound of the blonde vampire's body crashing against the floor, knocked out. Faye glanced down at her, seeing a dart that had must have fallen to the ground as she fell. The smell of vervain radiated from it.
Worry spread through her as she glanced up to see where it had come from. Her eyes connected with a man she recognized, holding a gun in the open window of her kitchen. Faye couldn't react before she was shot with a dart herself, the vervain immediately flooding her system and sending her crashing to the ground, her world dark.
__
A groan escaped her lips as Faye awoke in the back of a van. Her hands were bound behind her back, her skin raw from the vervain coated on the thick material. She attempted to break it with her strength, but the vervain in her system made her weaker.
Across from her was Lacey and Rebekah, both knocked out and in the same situation as Faye. Caroline took the spot next to her, her head lagging to the side. The hybrid let out a sigh and rested her head against the wall of the van. It had to have been the council who had done this. They were the only ones with enough vervain and knowledge of the supernatural community in Mystic Falls, due to Alaric, who could have done this.
Lacey and Caroline finally began to stir awake. The older blonde vampire lifted her head in confusion, trying to figure out what was happening. Caroline knew exactly what was going on and just let out a huff in annoyance.
"They're vervain ropes, Lacey." Faye informed her aunt when she began trying to set herself free, "The Council got us."
"The Council?" The woman questioned, "How do they even know about us?"
"Alaric outed us all it seems like." Caroline jumped in to say.
Rebekah spoke up when she finally came to, having heard most of the conversation, "What exactly do they think they can do to me?"
No one had the chance to reply due to the fact the wheels on the van began to screech loudly. The four girls were sent flying as the van flipped over on to its side. Faye landed harshly next to Lacey, her head banging again the metal side.
"What the hell happened?" Lacey questioned loudly.
Her answer came in the form of the back door being torn off and revealing one of the people Faye had been beating herself up over for the past twelve hours. Her heart jumped at the sight of her first love in shock, not having ever thought she would see him again. Tears began to well up in her eyes the more she stared at him.
"Tyler?" His name slipped past her lips in a whisper.
The male hybrid's hands reached to move behind Faye, grabbing a hold of the ropes tied around her wrist. Tyler's skin sizzled at the touch, but it didn't bother him, "I'm harder to kill than you think." He said to her.
"You're alive?" She cried out, still in disbelief, "How are you alive?"
Tyler finished tearing off the ropes on her wrist and helped her to her feet outside of the van. The rest of women watched the two interact.
"No time." He told her, "Come on, we've got to go."
"What about Lacey and Caroline?" Faye asked him.
"I'll handle it." Tyler said before pushing her towards the direction of the woods. Faye was hesitant to go, not wanting to leave them behind, "Go, Faye!"
Faye finally gave in, rushing off in the direction he had directed her to go. She hadn't wanted to leave Lacey and Caroline behind without knowing they would definitely be alright. Tyler was persistent though and she trusted him to do his best job.
The female hybrid came to a pause in a small clearing, waiting for Tyler to arrive. He showed up a few seconds later. Faye rushed over to him, throwing her arms around his shoulders and burying her face into the crook of his neck. To feel his warmth against her skin once again calmed her. The guilt she had been feeling washed away for that single moment as she was close to him again. His arms snaked around her waist, pulling her closely to him.
"Where is everyone else?" She asked him when she pulled back slightly.
"There wasn't anytime. I had to get out of their before the council got me too." Tyler saw the disappointed look on Faye's face and sighed, "I'm sorry."
Faye shook her head, "No, it's fine. We'll go back for them later." She assured him. A small smile stretch across her face as she stared at Tyler, "I never thought I would see you again. They said you died. How're you even alive?"
"This is going to sound incredible, but I...."
Faye cut him off, pressing her lips to his in a small kiss. When she pulled away, the other hybrid seemed breathless, "We'll talk about it later, okay?" She didn't want to hear anymore about all the things were unnatural about their lives. Instead, she wanted to be near him for just a while before they had to go out and save the world once more, "Right now, I need you."
"But.."
The strawberry blonde silenced him with a kiss, pulling him close to her once again. It took Tyler a few seconds before he finally put in the ferociousness Faye had been seeking. He sped them to over to a tree, Faye's back pressed against the rough bark of it. She helped him push off his jacket and his shirt, kissing him once again when she had finished. Tyler pulled away suddenly.
"Easy, love." Tyler said to her, "Wrong time. Wrong place. Wrong equipment."
"But you're alive!" Faye called out, "And we're together despite the fact that there are literally people hunting us down right now. Can we just have some hot hybrid reuniting sex?"
Faye didn't wait for his answer and instead flashed them over to another tree where he was back against it. She tore off her jacket before going for her shirt and tossing it to the ground. Her lips connected with his again before she realized something.
"Did you just call me "love"?" She asked him.
"I don't know, love." Tyler replied, "Did I?"
Disgust filled her as she yanked herself away from him. Tyler would never call her love and there was only one person who enjoyed it more than anything. Klaus was alive and he was standing right in front of her, in control of her boyfriend's body.
"What the hell did you do to Tyler?!" Faye yelled at him, pushing his chest so he would hit the tree.
Klaus smirked at her, "That's what I enjoy about you. So much more than a pretty face."
"You are Klaus!" Faye shouted even louder, bulking, "You disgusting pervert!"
"And you're a glorious kisser."
Her hand connected with Tyler's face and Faye hoped that even though she was hurting Tyler in the process, Klaus would feel more pain then he would. Not only did he fake Tyler's death and leave her burdened with emptiness, but he allowed her to feel guilty for his own death, which hadn't even happened.
Faye turned away from him and walked to put the clothes she had stripped off back on. Klaus spoke to her as she did so.
"Listen, I didn't have to risk exposure to come save you."
"You think doing one semi-decent thing makes up for all the shit you put me through in the past day?!" Faye yelled at him, angry, "Oh, I need to go sanitize my mouth! My whole body even!"
Klaus grinned, "Your mouth was all over me. I was an innocent victim."
Faye whipped around to look at him once she was dressed, her eyebrows furrowed together and her lips curled into a snarl. She poked him in Tyler's chest and growled, "Put Tyler back!"
"Gladly." The male hybrid responded, "Then maybe I'll take you up on your offer of hot hybrid sex." A smirk grew widely on Tyler's face before he grabbed the shirt he had been wearing and walked away.
Faye watched him with a glare before stomping her foot and following him to wherever the hell he was going, hopefully to put her boyfriend back in his rightful place.
__
Klaus had led Faye to the witch house, the one of the few places in Mystic Falls she didn't really like to be. The thought of the witch spirits in the house terrified her, seeing as she was a hybrid, an abomination, which witches hated. She had attempted to steer clear of it, but it seemed she just keep coming back to it.
The older hybrid trapped in Tyler's body sought out Bonnie, who had placed him in his body in the first place. They had been arguing back and forth for what seemed like forever about putting Klaus back in himself once again. Faye hung out in the back while he, Bonnie and Jeremy all fought.
"She said she's not strong enough." Jeremy told Klaus, protecting the witch from him.
"You were strong enough to put me in here. Surely, you're strong enough to get me out." Klaus responded, speaking directly to Bonnie.
Bonnie let out a sigh, "I upset the spirits trying to save Elena. I can't use that kind of magic again. It's too dangerous."
Klaus tensed as he stared at the witch and his teeth clenched together, "Bonnie, do the bloody spell!" He yelled at her.
"She said she can't, okay?" Faye jumped in before anything got too rough. Everyone turned to look over at her, "We'll just wait a few days until you're strong enough to do it with traditional magic, right Bonnie?" She looked up at the witch who supplied a small nod.
Klaus wasn't pleased with the answer. He tore open the shirt he wore in retaliation and took in a dee breathe. Faye watched with furrowed brows as he grew the claws out of Tyler's right hand before lodging them into his chest. Her eyes went wide, her lips parted in a gasp.
"What are you doing?" She asked him.
"Ripping Tyler's heart out." Klaus informed her as he slowing pulled Tyler's hand out of his chest. Faye watched with horror in her eyes, "I'll jump into someone else." He looked over towards Jeremy, "Maybe you."
"Oh my God!" Bonnie yelled out.
Faye cried out, "You're hurting him! Stop! Stop!"
"He's bluffing." Jeremy interjected, "He needs a witch to do that."
"What makes you think I don't have one? Or ten?" Klaus said, teeth bared, "Pick, Bonnie! You or Tyler!"
The strawberry blonde yelled when she saw blood come down in pools, telling her Tyler's heart could be torn out any second, "Stop, please! You're killing him!" Her cried fell upon deaf ears.
"Fine, I'll do it!" Bonnie said, finally getting Klaus to pause from tearing out the Lockwood's heart, "Just stop."
Klaus pulled his hand out from Tyler's chest, leaving his heart there. He stood up straight and looked towards Bonnie, "Good. Let's begin."
The set up for the spell was quick and easy with a few candles here and three. Klaus in Tyler's body sat on his knees with Bonnie's hands on either side of the Lockwood's head. The witch chanted softly, barely loud enough for Faye to make out the Latin words she spoke with using her vampire hearing. The Daniels girl and Jeremy watched worriedly as the spell was being performed.
"This is black magic." Jeremy pointed out to Faye, shaking his head, "She shouldn't be doing this."
Tyler's eyes opened, blinking a couple of times to clear his vision. Faye gained a hopeful expression on her face as she looked at him, "Tyler?" She checked to see if it was him.
A small smile grew on his lips as he looked up at her, "Faye, hey." He attempted to get up, but only collapsed to the floor. Faye rushed over to his side, checking to see if he was alright. He was awake, just weak from the spell.
In the background of it all, Bonnie continued chanting the spell. Jeremy moved to get Bonnie to quit, telling her it had worked, but she didn't dare finish. She continued on and not long after she stopped and began speaking to what sounded like her Grams. Bonnie began sobbing over what ever had happened that neither Faye or Jeremy had been able to see. The witch fell to the ground, the Gilbert boy quick to comfort her as she cried out.
"What have I done?!" She yelled, "What did I do?! What did I do? What did I do?"
"You should take Tyler and go, Faye." Jeremy suggested to the girl who had her hand laying on her boyfriend's shoulder.
Faye nodding, understanding. Bonnie wouldn't want to be around vampires right now, not even a hybrid, after what had just happen. It had been caused by them mostly and who knows if she would lash out on them.
She helped Tyler get up, wrapping his arm around her shoulder so she could carry him out of the house. His head slightly lagged as they walked, his eyelids drooping.
"Where are we going?" Tyler asked her.
"I'm gonna go take you home to your mom." Faye began to tell him, "And then I'm gonna go save my goddamn aunt."
__
Following Lacey's scent trail, using one of the woman's jackets from her home, Faye drove out in to the country to some type of ranch she knew the Council had brought all of the vampires to. She caught Stefan, Elena, Rebekah and Caroline's scent when she had arrived.
When she had showed up, it had been a little to late to come to the rescue, seeing that Damon was already there, surprisingly being pinned down by a full on vampire Elena. Faye canted her to the side at the sight, wondering what the hell was going on for a moment. It didn't matter anymore when Lacey came out of the barn positioned at the side of the home.
The hybrid rushed forward, throwing her arms around her aunt. The older Daniels woman placed her hand on the back of Faye's head, pressing a kiss to the strawberry blonde's temple. They both had been worried about each other, wondering if one had ended up dead or caught once again.
"I'm so sorry." Faye told Lacey when she pulled back from the hug, "I should have gotten here sooner, but I got held up. Klaus is still alive and was wreaking havoc in my boyfriend's body."
"We figured that out when he called Rebekah "little sister" and told us to keep them busy." Lacey replied.
"He's back to normal now." Faye informed her, "No more mistakenly making out with him thinking it's my boyfriend and not him."
A chuckled escaped Lacey's lips at the new information, causing Faye to pout and punch her in the arm, "It's not funny."
"It is kind of funny." Lacey responded. Her fit of giggles quieted and she smiled softly at her niece, "I'm glad you're okay."
Faye gave the woman a cocky smile, "I'm also glad you're not dead, either. Who would've made me dinner from now on?"
"Shut up, we got a mess to help clean up."
__
Faye sat in her bed later that night, having had a long two days that finally ended on good news. For the most part, everyone was alive and well. Elijah may have disappeared without saying goodbye and Bonnie may be down in the dumps for what had happened earlier in the witch house, but no one was really dead. Except for Elena Gilbert, who had joined the undead crew.
A knock on her window sounded throughout the room, causing Faye to turn her head towards it. Tyler was on the other side, standing on the small ledge of roof that was there. A smile graced her lips when she saw him. Faye got up from her bed and walked over to the window, sliding it open so he could step inside.
"Hey." Tyler greeted her when his feet hit her carpet.
Faye threw her arms around him, pulling him close to her and never wanting to let go, "I'm so glad you're not dead and Klaus just possessed you instead."
"That means a whole lot to me that you say that." Tyler said to her, a grin on his face.
She looked down shyly, "I'm serious, though. I felt so much guilt and sadness when I heard that you had "died", even before then I had to tell you to go and live your life without me." She finally glanced up at him, "I don't ever wanna live my life without you. You mean the world to me."
"I don't want to ever live in a world without Faye Daniels either." Tyler responded, pressing a light kis to her forehead and holding her tightly to his chest.
"Oh, I'm so glad you're not Klaus anymore." Faye told him as her head laid against his chest, "Kissing him was awkward enough, imagine confessing my feelings for you to him."
A frown formed on Tyler's face and he looked down at Faye, "You kissed Klaus?"
"Not purposely." She jumped to assure him, "I thought it was you and you just supposedly came back from the dead. I wouldn't have ever kissed Klaus if I had known it was him in your body." Tyler didn't seem very convinced, so she reached up and cupped his cheek, "Hey, I would never ever cheat on you. I love you too much to do that."
The male hybrid smiled down at her, his arms slid around her waist, just as Klaus had done earlier in the same body, "I love you too, Faye."
She stood on the tips of her toes, reaching up to press a kiss against his lips. Tyler returned it soon, lifting her up more. As they kissed, the beautiful scents of love and passion spread throughout her room, but their was one, guilt, that had been mixed in and Faye was sure as hell it wasn't coming from her.

Also, I'm looking for some amazing fan art for this story. If any of you have the ability to draw (or art as I like to call it) I would love if you guys could make art centered around Faye, Faye and Klaus, or just anyone or anything that has to do with this story. I want to use it to put on a t-shirt so I can wear it (and if you are the creator of the art, I will send you a free t-shirt with your art on it as well). So please guys! That would be amazing to have.
Next chapter: Memorial, hunters, and newbie vampires.
REMEMBER I NEED TEN COMMENTS THAT DON'T INCLUDE THE WORD "UPDATE" OR ANYTHING LIKE IT FOR ME TO DO EXACTLY THAT.
