FIFTY SIX ▶ RIGHT AND WRONG

The next morning after Faye's first full day spending with a jailed Klaus Mikaelson wasn't much different than the first. She had been sleeping peacefully on the couch, curled up in a ball without a care in the world until her phone began ringing and awoke her from her sleep.

"No." Faye groaned out, rolling over so she couldn't see the screen lighting up, "Not right now."

A scoff could be heard from the living room, "No wonder your friends end up in so much danger without you there. You never decide to answer their possible calls for help."

Faye sat up just to glare at Klaus who smirked, amused at her actions, "You're input is unnecessary." She told him before somewhat deciding he was right. The group who had gone to get the cure could be in danger and sending a call for help. She reluctantly grabbed her phone to answer.

Seeing Elena's name flashing on the screen gave her more of a reason to be angry at her than just for murdering Kol. Faye let out a long sigh and made a signal for Klaus to be quiet before answering.

"What do you want?"

"We're having some issues here." Elena revealed to her the minute she answered, not even offering her a greeting.

"What do you mean?"

"Well, first off, Jeremy's missing and we couldn't find him when we went looking." The Gilbert rushed out.

Faye jumped up from her seat at the words, slowly going into panic at the thought of a pack member in danger, "Tell me you're not serious."

"I wish I weren't." Elena said with a sigh, "When we got back from looking for Jeremy, Shane and Bonnie were both gone, too. Shane needs Bonnie to cast a spell on Jeremy's tattoo in order to find the cure, and he managed to sneak them both out from under our noses." Her voice had a combination of worry and anger laced throughout it.

"Shane's human. How did he get past three vampires and a freaking Original?" The hybrid has to question. Elena was silent making her worried, "Why do I feel like something else is wrong?"

"Damon's missing too." Elena was hesitant to say, "We had an argument. I thought he was just taking a walk, but then when we went to the beach, we saw signs of a struggle."

"Meaning what?" Faye didn't want to know the answer.

"Meaning somebody probably jumped him and then grabbed him."

There it was. Something that sent Faye off the rails and made her regret ever staying behind for the sake of Klaus. She inhaled deeply, trying to keep herself from having a full blown panic attack. Damon was missing and she should've have been there to help protect her best friend along with Bonnie and Jeremy. If she had been there, nothing like that would have happened.

A growl emitted from her throat, "I'm going to kill Shane."

"No, I don't think Shane took him." Elena immediately shut down the idea Faye had in her mind, "I mean, he's not strong enough to take Damon on, even with the element of surprise. He must have someone or at least a few someones helping him."

It didn't help very much hearing that. Now she knew there were two people out there out to get her pack. Faye sighed and ran her hand over her hair, "I should've been there."

"You were supposed to be." The brunette on the other line commented.

"Thanks for making me feel better." Faye muttered to her, "Is there anything I can do from here to help?

"Actually, yeah." Elena began to say. Faye sat up straighter and listened carefully, "So Shane's looking for the cure. We think we can find him. We have pictures of Jeremy's tattoo, but we just can't translate the map."

"Unless you get the hunter's sword from Klaus." The strawberry blonde connected the pieces.

"Exactly."

Faye was up to the task and nodded even though Elena could not see, "I'll find it. Don't worry. Just email me photos of Jeremy's tattoo. I'll find the sword and I'll call you back. Please find them and make sure they're safe, okay?"

"Thank you and I will. Bye."

The conversation ended there, seeing as Faye had her own work to do as well as Elena. The hybrid hung up and adjusted herself. She was going to need to make a stop at her house before she would go get the sword, which she had no idea where it was.

"Need my help with anything, love?"

Faye looked over towards Klaus, almost forgetting he was here. She had almost forgotten the Original hybrid she was in love with was there. He stood with his arms crossed over his chest and his brow raised at her. She shook the thought of love from her head, knowing she had something to do.

She wish could just ask him where the sword was, but she doubted that the man would cooperate with her when the outcome was helping her friends. She could handle it herself for now and if she became desperate, she would just have to plead for her own sake.

"Not right now." Faye answered him. He was amused by her words, seeing as the corner of his lips turned up into a smile,  "Just stay here and don't do anything stupid."

Her order was not responded to, or it was and she didn't care to hear. She turned on her heel before he could say anything and left, a mission to accomplish.

__

It took an hour to find the sword in the largest house in Mystic Falls and ended up with Faye not having to ask the help of Klaus, but rather someone she didn't think would come to her and Caroline's rescue. Tyler Lockwood had the most knowledge of the Mikaelson Manor out of everyone who was in Mystic Falls, not locked up in their enemy's house. Caroline had to call him instead of Faye running back to the Gilbert house and beg the location of the sword out of Klaus.

After the encounter the other day, Faye had thought he wouldn't ever want to see her again, but Tyler would risk the awkward encounter just to help his friends. He made sure not to speak to her though and she did the same.

Caroline, Faye and Tyler arrived to the Gilbert house with a collection of items in their arms. Tyler had the sword, Faye had her laptop and Caroline brought all the studying supplies she thought of as neccesary for their decoding.

"Well, if it isn't little orphan Lockwood." Klaus commented when first saw Tyler come in behind the two girls, "Come to show how laughably impotent you are against me?"

Of course Klaus would decide to throw unnecessary comments at Tyler and create the same problems as they had the day before. Faye let out a long sigh as she set her laptop down on the coffee table. She knew if Tyler responded in a way deemed threatening, all hell would break loose once again.

"I'm just trying to help my friends find the cure." Tyler answered, deciding not to start issues with Klaus anymore than he already had. There was still the undertone of cockiness as he revealed the sword under the blanket it was wrapped in, "Found this in your attic."

Klaus canted his head at him, a grin playing on his lips as if Tyler was an idiot, "And you think finding the sword brings you closer to the cure?"

"You tell me." The Lockwood sounded smug as he stepped closer to Klaus with the sword in hand, "I was playing around with the handle on the ride over and I found this." He showed him the end of the sword that turned and revealed different symbols with every twist.

"And what do you think this is?"

"It's called a cryptex." Caroline finally butted in, earning glances from the three wondering how she knew, "I've seen "The Da Vinci Code." You turn the different sides to the different symbols to get the translation on the other side. And, with the magic of the Internet, Elena sent over these." She held up the picture of Jeremy's tattoo that Faye had printed out herself.

"So now all we have to do is cryptex away." Faye clapped her hands together, "Now, if only you two could end your pissing contest then we could work in the peace and quiet we need." She was stern and she sent a glare in the direction of the two men.

Klaus smiled and nodded at her, "Whatever works for you, love." He said and was immediately mocked by Tyler on the side.

"Thank you." The strawberry blonde made sure to say, "And if you happened to want to help, we wouldn't stop you."

"Right." Klaus nodded, "Well, might I suggest using the magic of the Internet to purchase an Aramaic-to-English dictionary from your nearest retailer?"

"What's Aramaic?" Tyler asked with his brows furrowed together.

A look of worry crossed Caroline's face, "It's a dead language. It hasn't been used since, like, biblical times."

"Qetsiyah's native tongue, I'm guessing." Klaus responded, "You know, even if you had the best dictionary in the world, it could take days to translate. Perhaps weeks." He didn't seem very empathetic about their new found situation, despite his shrug, "In bas so-teen-too ara-ma-eet."

"What did you just say?" Faye asked him.

"If only you spoke Aramaic."

Faye scoffed at him, "Are you freaking serious?" It was just their luck. The Daniels pack never had anything go their way and Klaus seemed to always be one step ahead even trapped in a living room.

"I didn't create the cryptex, sweetheart, don't blame me." Klaus held up his hands in defense seeing the glare the Daniels was delivering him.

"You're annoying." She hissed at him before walking over to Tyler and taking the sword out of his hands, "We're gonna figure this out with or without you."

There was a smirk playing on his lips as Faye turned away from the man she loved, stomping her foot like a child. She sat down on the couch with Caroline and got straight to work trying to decipher the symbols and letters as well as she could. Tyler bumped in a few times and tried to help, googling what he could. It took awhile to manage something, but in the end they had a sentence that was barely something they understood.

"Ok, this is it." Caroline said with it all laid out, "We've translated all the symbols on the tattoo. "Passage inside..." She squinted in confusion, "Requires a young senator and a pretty flower."

"None of this makes sense." Faye groaned out, slamming her head into her hands. It was impossible for them to understand any of it, but there was someone in the room who did. They could only figure the code out with him, not without.

With her own amount of pride, she did not want to ask for help, but there wasn't much of a choice. She had to swallow some of it in order to glance over toward the Original hybrid with a pitiful look, silently pleading for his help. Faye wasn't sure if it would work or not, but she was at least going to try.

Klaus looked at her with his own silent question, asking her if she was serious with her puppy dog eyes and batting her lashes at him. It was childish, but it worked. He could not stop himself from giving in to her with a small huff passing his lips.

"Requires a powerful witch and a hunter in full bloom." He said clearly to the group of three, correcting their mistakes.

"What are you doing?" Tyler asked him.

"I don't need to tell you my reasons." Klaus told him before speaking to Faye, "Bring my sword over here, please."

Faye did as she was asked to do and held the hilt of the sword up for him to see. She couldn't help though to snicker at his wording, "Your sword?" She asked lowly.

"I took it and it belongs to me. Now, love, what were you saying about peace and quiet while working?" Klaus teased her. She rolled her eyes and kept quiet so he could focus, "Silas rests on the far side, the means of his destruction at hand."

"Turn the cryptex to the right." He instructed for her to do, "Stop. The top of the hilt reveals a key to a nautical map. Turn it to the left." She followed each and every order, "Now turn the other piece."

"Wait. There's something else." There was silence throughout the Gilbert home in wait for what last piece of information there was.

"What does that mean?" Faye asked him when he was silent for a while, "Klaus, what does it mean?"

Klaus only shook his head, "Nothing of importance." He said, but the pleased look on his face made her think otherwise.

There wasn't any time to press though. The group on the island needed the information as soon as possible and Faye was on that.

__

There was only one dose of the cure. No one had been expecting it. The Daniels pack still in Mystic Falls were reeling from the news, not because they had wanted it, but more for their friend who were had their hopes so high for this cure. Faye wasn't all that surprised there was some sort of catch to it. She had always said it sounded too good to be true and it was.

Klaus let the information slip out while Faye had been on the phone with Rebekah, giving he the directions to where the said cure was. Everyone had froze for a second before the group of three who were not trapped inside the house had to go outside to handle the issue. Faye herself was worried, knowing that Rebekah was going to turn that island into a warzone for that cure. Klaus was an idiot.

"Every time I think I have him, that son of a bitch gets the upper hand." Tyler hissed as they were outside.

"We won't let him hurt you." Caroline assured him, "Stefan and Elena will bring back the cure."

"That won't matter because you're not shoving it down Klaus' throat." Faye said, putting her foot down.

Tyler scoffed at her protection of Klaus, "Then Klaus kills me." He said, "I need to get out of town to figure out how I'm gonna stay alive..."

"Wait, hang on, ok?" The blonde vampire stopped him from saying anything else, "Gosh! Before you get all doomsday."

"There's another way. I can talk to him and get him to stop from going on a murder spree." Faye suggested.

"He's got nothing to lose, Faye." Tyler stared at her as if she was an idiot, "His brother's dead, his hybrids are gone. All he wants right now is blood, starting with mine"

Caroline shook her head at him, "You're wrong. He's got her to lose." The two pairs of eyes fell on the mentioned Daniels girl. There was anger behind Tyler's eyes at the thought of Klaus even having Faye on his side enough for him to do something wrong and she can fully back out.

"I-"

"Tyler, just trust me." Faye cut him off, "I'm not gonna let him kill you and I'm not gonna let you kill him. I still care about you." He opened his mouth to speak, but she stopped him again, "And I'm not lying. How many times do I have to say I care before it gets through your thick skull? Let me fix this before you start running for the hills in fear."

He wasn't even allowed to tell her yes or no before Faye went inside to negotiate for his safety. She was going to do it with or without his permission because no one else was going to die on her watch. Especially not Tyler, despite everything he's done.

Klaus was still in the same position she had left him in when she walked up to the living room. He sat on the coffee table, smirking at Faye. She crossed her arms over her chest and kept a straight face at him.

"You can't kill Tyler." She got straight to the point with him this time, "I know how much you want to, trust me I do, but I'm not going to let you. And I'm not expecting you to forgive him for anything. All I'm asking is that you let him live, somewhere far from here." She rushed it all out before he could even deny anything just yet.

Klaus didn't seemed to convinced, "So he gets to live a happy life after he turned all my hybrids against me, after he tried to kill me, after he made it his life's mission to find the cure so he could use it against me..."

Faye scoffed at his reasoning, "I've done worse to you and you let me live."

"That's different, Faye, and you know it." The male hybrid shook his head at her.

"Because somehow amongst all the shit in Mystic Falls and despite everything we've done to each other, we became more than enemies?" Faye asked him, "I know you care about me and you know how much I care about Tyler even with everything he's done. You know if he dies that I will be torn apart."

"Eventually, you will get over it."

"But I'll never get over the fact that I lost you over it."

There it was, the turning point. Klaus visibly gulped at he stared at Faye, her eyes wide and her hands clasped together as she pleaded for him to spare her first love. It was as if he hand been stabbed in the heart by the truth she had served him. She would never forgive him if he killed Tyler, despite everything they had together and then she would lose it all. She had successfully tugged on his heart strings.

"Klaus." She continued on, not knowing she had won him over, "Please, let him live. Show him mercy."

"Mercy..." He said with as if he was still questioning it, "For Tyler?" Faye nodded, hopping for the best, "Tell him to leave town immediately. And tell him to run and hide in a place I will never find him."

"Thank you." A relieved smile was on the strawberry blonde's lips, "Thank you so much."

Klaus only nodded, not saying anything in response. But there was on thought running through his head. Anything for Faye, right?

__

Faye walked outside of the Gilbert house after getting the news of Klaus would spare him to see Caroline hugging Tyler as if she was saying goodbye. A sad smile was on their lips as they pulled away from each other, tears in Caroline's eyes.

"You all heard?" Faye asked them both, only earning a nod, "Care, can I talk to Tyler?" She rocked back and forth on her feet, nervous about speaking to him. Faye did not want him to leave on a bad not with her and even if he was going to, she at least wanted to say goodbye.

Caroline of course agreed, saying a simple goodbye to Tyler before going back inside the Gilbert home to leave them be. When she was gone, the two were quiet. Faye couldn't think of what to say. She wanted to talk to him and she couldn't even think of what to start with. Apologizing? Goodbyes? Reminiscing? She's said goodbye to him so many times already, but this one was different. They weren't in love this time and so much had happened between them to make it feel as if they wouldn't miss each other if they were gone. That wasn't true though, for Faye at least.

Faye finally sat down on the porch swing, inhaling deeply as she tried to calm her nerves down, "I just wanted to say I'm sorry before you left. I'm sorry for everything. For everything I've ever done to hurt you." She said finally, "You probably won't accept my apology, but I didn't want you to go without me saying it."

Instead of what she expected, Tyler just shook his head, "You shouldn't be the one apologizing." He replied, sitting down next to her on the swing, "I hurt you and I continued to be a dick. I'm sorry."

Faye was surprised to hear him apologize to her, "You don't hate me? Just yesterday you were disgusted with me for protecting Klaus."

"I still am, but I don't hate you." He replied, "We've been through too much together for me to hate you the minute you do something I don't like, despite how much I want to."

"I get that." Faye said to him. She remembers wanting to hate him after he cheated on her, but she couldn't. She loved him too much too, "I never thought we would end up here, you know."

"Saying goodbye again? I saw that one coming." Tyler joked.

Faye chuckled, but shook her head, "No. Us apart. I always thought that we would be kind of forever."

"Was there ever a chance for us?" He asked.

"I don't think so."

They fell into silence, the two staring up at the night sky together for what may be the last time. This could be the the end of their story together, they wouldn't know, but they knew it didn't want to be.

The more she thought about it, Faye felt the need to tear it, "I hate this." She said, "We're finally somewhat okay again and it's only because we're saying goodbye."

"Then don't say goodbye." Tyler responded, "See you soon."

"Maybe." Faye had a small smile on her face as she looked at him. She wrapped her arms around him one last time for a while and squeeze him tight, "I'll miss you."

"Be careful, okay?" Tyler told her when they pulled apart.

"You too."

Then he was gone, not taking Faye's heart with him as he had a time before. It had to be the end of their story, so another could begin.

__

"You've been out here for a while."

Faye's head shot up when she heard Klaus' voice outside of the Gilbert home. He stood on the front porch, looking down at her form on the porch swing. It was a surprise to see him when he was supposed to be trapped in the living room, "How did you get out?"

"I fear something awful has befallen your friend Bonnie." He answered her question. She let out a sigh, knowing that was another thing on her plate to worry about, "Are you alright, love?"

"Yeah." She answered, nodding, "Today has just been a lot. All the cure stuff and Tyler leaving." Faye sent him a small smile, "Thanks for that again. I really owe you one."

"No you don't, love." Klaus told her.

"Yes, I do." She rolled her eyes at him and stood up from her seat, "I know it took a lot for you to do that for him."

"I didn't do it for him." He stopped her from saying anything else, "I've shown kindness, forgiveness, pity..." Klaus stepped towards her and brushed her hair behind her ear, "Because of you, Faye. It was all for you."

"Klaus..." She didn't know what to say. For him to admit it, it changed things for her. It made her see that maybe their story was ready to reach in to it's climax and become something. As she stared up in to his eyes, she knew it.

Faye stood up on her toes and pressed her lips against Klaus'. The thought to do so had crossed her mind and as she always did, she didn't think much about it. She just did. Her impulsive tendencies got the best of her and she wasn't sure if she minded just yet.

Klaus was hesitant to kiss back. Not because he hadn't wanted it; of course he had been longing for this moment. He had been surprised, but the minute he was over it, he pulled her close and lost himself in the moment

It sounds cheesy to say it felt right, but it did. Faye Daniels had never been so sure about something in her life. The kiss felt right. The two together felt right. The two cursed hybrids who wanted to live an eternity; a match that was obvious to everyone except the strawberry blonde who was too blinded by anger to see a thing. A pair so much alike but opposite at the same time. A match made in hell with the best intentions.

Faye pulled back earlier than expected for Klaus as she remembered what was going on around her. Her friends were in a war for the cure, Tyler had just left and she was kissing Klaus. It wasn't the right moment at all to do this, despite it being with the right person.

"I probably need to make some phone calls and make sure people are okay." Faye said to Klaus and left his arms, "But we should totally do this again. This kissing thing."

"Alright, love." Klaus said, a grin on his face.

"So, I'll see you soon." Faye told him.

With that, she left him outside and shut the door behind her, starstruck from what she had just done.

A/N: WERE YA'LL EXPECTING THAT BITCHES???? HELLA NO?

So like they were planned to kiss at a totally different time, but this just kind of felt like them more. Totally in the wrong place at the wrong time, but like also the right place ya know. I'm not very proud of that kissing scene tho because i mean im kind of half dead while writing this and dont like relationships because me and my girlfriend fucking broke up. DOWN WITH LOVE AM I RIGHT. im not that bitter but still man.

BUT AYE BACK TO KLAYE. YEah they kissed and then in two chapters something else is gonna happen between them. The rest of them in this book is literally gonna be fluffy relationship building and a sprinkle of angst. My babies have grown so much.

THAT FAYLER TOO. What a sad little closing to their story because everything between them is over. no more hate, no more appearances, over. finished. kaput.

ALSO ANOTHER LIT THING THAT'S GONNA HAPPEN IS THAT YOU'LL GET A LEAD IN TO THE SEQUEL IN A COUPLE OF CHAPTERS WHICH WILL BE DOPE AF. and before you get your hopes up, it centers around Lacey and Elijah rather than Faye and Klaus (they'll be there but eh not so much).

as this story finishes out, ya'll should suggest oneshots and prompts you wanna see for Klaye or other relationships in the story because imma be writing them and posting em after this book is finished.

crappy title for this chapter too ew. roast the fuck out of me please for anything i need someone to feed my need for death.

Next chapter: EVERYONE I LOVE IS DEAD, faye is smad, and elena's flipping the fuck out

REMEMBER I NEED TEN COMMENTS THAT DON'T INCLUDE THE WORD "UPDATE" OR ANYTHING LIKE IT FOR ME TO DO EXACTLY THAT.
