ELEVEN ▶ I'LL BE STRONG
Two days. That was how long it took to learn everything about her life and family. She stayed in the guest room at Elijah's apartment during the time, since she didn't want to go home to Damon. He was upset and on a murderous rampage. He needed time alone.
Elijah and Faye acted normal together. It reminded her of how Alaric and Jeremy acted. He was like a father figure to her at the moment. She didn't have anyone else who was going to put her first besides him. Stefan and Damon always helped Elena first, besides the fact they were supposed to care for her.
Faye brought the tea mug too her lips as she watched the news on the flat screen in Elijah's living room. Her eyes narrowed at the photo placed in the top right corner of the screen as Andie Star spoke.
"The authorities believe last night's assailant may also be related to the missing campers and Park ranger who have yet to be found, as well as 25 year old Jessica Koenig, reported missing this morning. The sheriff department says investigations are pending and no further comment will be made."
Elijah walked in to the living room and greeted her, "Good morning."
"Morning."
"Another attack?" Elijah asked as he walked in to the kitchen and made himself tea.
"Damon's lost it. He's lashing out because he cared about Rose." Faye sighed, "If he's not careful, we're going to get caught by the council and then that's one more thing we'll have to deal with."
"The council seems too ignorant to discover that there are multiple vampires living under their noses." Elijah responded.
Faye chuckled, "I'm surprised the haven't caught us all yet. We're really sloppy when it comes to hiding dead bodies."
"And you can't be a good vampire if you don't know how to properly take care of your mess." He said with a grin. She laughed, smiling at her god father, "What are your plans for today?"
"Probably to the Grill to hang out with Caroline and Stefan. Then I'll probably annoy Elena a bit and tell her what I found out from you." Faye saw the confused look on his face, "She's the one who pushed me to find out and wanted to know." She picked up her bag before walking to the door, "I think I'm going to go home tonight, but I'll call you if anything changes. Bye." She waved and left the apartment.
__
Faye pulled up at Caroline's house and got, only to run in to Tyler. She smiled at him as she pull her bag over her shoulder.
"Hey. How have you been?" Faye asked him.
"We need to talk."
Faye frowned, "Is this how I was MIA after the full moon? I found my god father and I was learning things about my parents. I'm sorry that I didn't check up on you."
"Fine." Tyler said coldly.
She nodded, "Good." Faye began walking up to Caroline's house to get her, but when Tyler called out something, she stopped, "What happened to my uncle Mason?"
"What?" Faye asked, turning around to look at him.
Tyler took a dangerous step forward, "He's dead, and I want you to tell me what happened."
"I..." Faye couldn't find the words, "I don't..."
"Then let me tell you: Stefan and his brother Damon killed him, because Stefan and Damon are vampires, just like you and Caroline." Tyler sneered at her.
Faye shook her head in disbelief, "Who told you that?"
"Is it true?" He sneered.
"Let me explain."
"Did you know he was dead this whole time?" Tyler asked her. Hatred for her filled his eyes and she whimpered.
"Please..." She tried to get him to let her talk.
Instead, he yelled at her, "Did you know?!"
Faye nodded slowly, her eyes shut tightly. He threw her against her car and held her there, growling at her.
"I'm sorry, Tyler. I'm sorry." Faye apologized.
"I trusted you!" Tyler roared. He left her go and left, leaving behind a stunned and upset Faye. Caroline came rushing out and frowned when she saw Faye clutching her chest as she breathed heavily.
"What happened?" Caroline asked her, "Was that Tyler?"
"I need to call Stefan. Now."
__
Caroline and Faye sat in the living room of the Forbes' household, waiting for Stefan to show up. Faye was panicking. Tyler knew Mason was dead and that wasn't good. Werewolves are aggressive creatures and they will kill if someone hurts their own. Tyler's target would be Stefan and Damon, which she didn't want.
The doorbell rang and Caroline went to let Stefan in. Stefan walked straight inside and towards Faye. When he saw the fear in her eyes and the look of sadness on her face, he sat down beside her and rubbed her back comfortingly, "What's wrong?"
"Tyler knows about you and Damon. He knows that Damon killed Mason." Faye told him.
Stefan looked at Caroline for an explanation, seeing that Faye wasn't going to say anything more than that, "We didn't say a word." Caroline said.
"It's that woman, Jules. She had a run-in with Damon." Stefan said instantly. He knew Jules was the one who did this right away.
Faye had a distant look at her as she stared off in to space, "Tyler was so upset. The look on his face, he was so betrayed."
"Wow, this is bad." Stefan breathed out, feeling stressed.
Caroline looked at Stefan, "You're not gonna tell Damon, are you?"
"No! He already wants to kill him. He thinks all werewolves should die, sans Faye, and he's not wrong to think that." Stefan said, making Faye turn her head towards him, "I mean, what if Tyler tries to retaliate? He has every right to. He could get himself killed."
"Well, we're not gonna let that happen. We have to get to him and reason with him before he does something stupid." Caroline insisted.
Faye sighed and ran a hand through her hair, "You have to talk to him. Just try to explain, you know? You always know the right things to say, okay? He and I... we're pack." She said to Stefan, "Please."
"I'll try, okay. But, I can't promise anything." Stefan said and Faye squeezed him in a tight.
__
Tyler was sitting in his father's old study on the computer when Stefan appeared in the room. He panicked and tried to escape, but Stefan blocked his path.
"I'm not gonna hurt you, I just want to talk." Stefan told him.
Tyler had fear in his eyes, "Then why did you break in?"
"Would you have let me in otherwise?" Stefan questioned.
Both of their heads turned as they heard footsteps. Carol walked down the steps and looked over at the study's door way, "Tyler?" Tyler tried to run. Stefan grabbed him before he could and threw him on to the desk.
"Shh. Not a word." Stefan growled.
Carol sighed and yelled out for her son, "Tyler? I'm leaving for the memorial." Seeing that he wasn't going to reply, she left.
Stefan waited until he heard the door shut before releasing Tyler, "Maybe we're getting off on the wrong foot, here."
"What happened to Mason?" Tyler questioned him.
"Tyler, there's a lot for us to talk about." Stefan said. Tyler tried to leave again, but Stefan caught his arm, "I wouldn't do that. Without a full moon, you're no match for me."
__
Faye walked in to the Grill, needing to just step away from the supernatural world and get a nice burger. She looked around for anyone she knew, especially Damon. She wanted to talk to him a bit. Her eyes landed on Alaric and Jenna who were joined by a man she didn't know. She decided to go introduce herself.
Jenna smiled when she saw the red hair girl standing in front of their table, "Faye! Hey, how have you been? You haven't come to bother Elena and Jeremy in day."
"I found my god father recently and I've been learning about my parents since they were all friends back in the day." Faye told her with a smile, "It's been nice."
Alaric was confused. Damon or Stefan didn't tell him that Faye found her god father. He wondered if they even knew.
"That's great." Jenna replied, happy for the teen.
The man at the table took the chance to introduce himself now, "I'm John Gilbert. Elena's father." He stuck out his hand for her to shake.
"Faye Daniels. Pleasure." Faye politely shook his hand, "I'm guessing you're asshole Uncle John?" Alaric choked on his drink when he had taken a sip. Faye could really be a blunt person. Jenna was trying so hard not to break out in to a fit of laughter.
John grimaced at her words, "That I am."
Faye smiled innocently, "Well, I would say nice meeting you but..." She slowed to a stop when Damon and Elena entered the Grill, "I gotta go." She quickly tried to make her exit, but she ran straight in to Damon when she tried to make it to the pool tables.
"Where have you been? You haven't been home in two days." Damon asked her.
Faye rolled her eyes, "I don't have to tell you. You aren't my father."
"Faye..." Damon trailed off, "You haven't been gone this long since you found out your parents were dead. I'm worried."
"I'm worried about you too." Faye said, "I saw the news this morning. Another girl dead? You're being messy. I know you cared about Rose, but you have to stop lashing out."
Damon sighed, "Don't start with me about this."
"I'm going to get some lunch, Damon. Bye." She told him before walking away.
__
"Look, about Faye and Caroline, no matter what their flaws are, when push comes to shove, you're gonna want them on your side. They're your friends, stop being a dick to them." Stefan told Tyler sternly. He didn't like seeing Faye upset. She was just trying to help him and he was hating her.
"I thought vampires hated werewolves." Tyler said in confusion.
"That's some sort of leftover idea from another time. It doesn't have to be that way anymore. We go to the same school, we have the same friends. we keep the same secrets." Stefan sighed, "This can work, Tyler. I mean, it's your home, it's my home too. I want this to work."
Tyler's phone began to ring loudly. They both looked at each other before Tyler quickly slipped past Stefan. He answered it since it was Jules and yelled out, "Help, help!"
Stefan grabbed the phone and threw it on the desk, "Who's number was that?" Tyler didn't answer and that mad Stefan know exactly who it was, "Damn it Tyler! I'm trying to save your life, can't you see that?"
__
Jules was far out in the woods with her boyfriend when she ended the call and looked up at him, "We have a problem"
__
Faye lit a candle on the table for the memorial, sighing softly. Maybe she was lighting it for her parents more than the people the town had lost.
John walked up next to her and lit a candle himself. She turned to look at him and frowned, "I'm guessing you're the replacement for Isobel since she couldn't come."
"I am, do you have a problem with it?" John asked.
"I honestly don't care." Faye said before blowing out the match she had and walking away from he. She was going to leave the the Grill but she was stopped by Damon.
"Are you coming home tonight?" Damon asked.
Faye nodded, "I am, Damon. Why? Miss me?"
"Of I course I do, Amnesia. It's no fun with just broody Stefan in the house." Damon said with a smile, "And you can tell me about this god father Alaric was telling me about."
Faye sighed, "I will tell you when I'm ready."
"Oh come on, Faye. I'm practically your guardian, I want to know." Damon told her, "Talk to me."
"I will when you talk to me about something important to you." She countered before taking her leave.
Faye made her way out in to the parking lot and to her car, throwing her bag inside it. Just as she was about to make her way to the driver said, a woman appeared behind her. She knew it was Jules, she could smell it.
"Excuse me, Faye right?" Jules asked her.
Faye turned and looked at her, "Yeah."
"I'm looking for Tyler. You haven't seen him, have you?" Jules asked her.
Faye decided to be polite and tell her the truth. She honestly just wanted to get home, "No, not since earlier. Sorry." She told her with a shake of her head. Faye began walking back to her car.
"I know you're lying." Jules said to her.
"Really? How? Is that one of your little wolf tricks?" Faye asked, stepping towards her. Her claws were slowly extending from her finger tips.
"Actually, it is."
"Well, I have a trick too."
Faye flashed her hybrid face at Jules. Jules quickly reacted, pulling out a bottle of vervain and spraying her with it. Faye yelped and turned to cover her face. Once she had heal, she turned back fight, but she was shot in the head, falling to the ground as if she had died.
__
A groan erupted from the cage as Faye woke up. Her hand instantly flew to where she had been shot. She felt the wound and the bullet still inside her. Faye took the chance and began pulling it out, whimpering and crying as she did.
When it was out, she went to unlock the cage she was. She stopped when she the guy who had shot her early still holding the gun not to far away. She backed in to the wall of the cage.
"I see you got the bullet out. That was nasty." He said with a smirk on his face that made Faye cringe, "I got lots of wooden bullets, other toys." She whimpered when he pointed the gun at her, "It's gonna be a long night, sweet pea."
A bullet went through her stomach, causing her to scream.
__
"You want to be friends, great, we're friends. Will you go now?" Tyler said to Stefan, getting annoyed with his presence.
"I don't know what else to say to you Tyler." Stefan responded, "I came back to this town because I wanted a life, I wanted to exist where I could have friends and where I could build a family. I have that here, we can both have that."
Tyler didn't reply. Stefan's phone began ringing and he pulled it out, looking at the caller ID. Faye's name and picture flashed across the screen so he answered it.
"Hey. Is everything okay?" Stefan asked her, concerned.
"That depends. How badly do you want to keep her alive?" The woman on the other line asked.
Stefan growled, "Who is this?"
"Ask your brother. Where's Tyler?" She asked.
"Jules? Where's Faye?" Stefan questioned.
"You made a mistake, Stefan. I'm gonna give you a chance to fix it." Jules told him over the phone.
"Where is she?"
"Right here. Want proof?" He heard shuffling on the other side and Jules faintly speaking, "He needs proof." Suddenly, there was a gun shot and Faye began screaming loudly. Stefan's eyes widened.
"What's happening?" Tyler asked him.
"Hurt her again and you're dead." Stefan threatened Jules.
"I hurt her again, and she's dead. Bring Tyler to me, the clearing by Wickery Falls. You have 20 minutes until she dies." Jules hung up.
Stefan growled and looked at Tyler, "You're coming with me."
__
Damon and Elena stood in the bathroom after she had told him everything about Tyler and Faye. Damon angrily ran his hand through his hair.
"Why am I just finding out about this now?" Damon asked her.
"Stefan was worried that you-"
Damon cut Elena off, "That I'll what? That I'd kill him? Of course, it's what's need to happen."
"No, Damon, not Tyler. Do whatever you need to do to get Faye back but just leave Tyler out of it, okay?" Elena told him.
"Why? He's a werewolf, he needs to die. I'm willing to kill him, it's win-win." Damon responded back.
Elena touched his arm, "Damon please, okay? Too many people are dead."
"You need to stop doing that." He growled at her.
"Doing what?" Elena asked.
"Assuming that I'll play the good guy because it's you who's asking." Damon said.
"Be the better man, Damon."
John walked in to the restroom causing Damon to groan, "Do you mind?"
"What's going on?" He asked them.
"Nothing." Elena replied instantly.
"It doesn't look like nothing."
Damon rolled his eyes, "Well guess what John, trust works both ways. Get out."
"Look, we don't have time for this. We need to get Faye back." Elena said, worried. Faye was her friend and she didn't want her to be hurt or killed. She was to innocent to be tortured.
"We don't need to do anything. I'll take care of it." Damon turned and looked at John, "First dad duty: ground your daughter. Keep her here." He left.
Elena tried to follow him, "I'm coming with you." John grabbed her before she could leave.
"No, no, no, no, no. I'm with Damon on this one." John said as Elena fought against him, "No, stop, stop. You're not going anywhere. Just tell me what's going on."
__
"So, How many vampires are there in this town anyway?" The werewolf who Faye had learned his name was Brady. She was still kept in the cage, sobbing her eyes out. She couldn't get the bullets out of her since they hurt and he kept putting more in her.
Since Faye didn't answer him, he sprayed vervain on her, causing her to scream, "No?"
"Why are you doing this to me?!" Faye screamed, "Why are you doing this? Why?"
Brady shrugged carelessly, "You're a vampire. Why not?" He shot darts in to her neck, causing her to roar out in pain, "I'm sorry, what was that?"
"Let me out!" Faye yelled.
"Excuse me? What was that?" Brady asked her sarcastically.
"Let me out!" Faye cried out once again. He chuckled before leaving the RV.
Faye looked around for anything that could help her and saw her phone lying right next to the cage. She saw the opportunity and tried to reach for it. Her hand got through the bars enough so she grab her phone. Faye called the only person she thought could get her out of this without dying. Elijah. She laid the phone on the ground next to her so she could hid it.
When it made the sound showing Elijah answered, she sobbed, "Elijah. The werewolves. They got me and I'm stuck. Help me, please." The called ended and she began pulling the bullets out of her, screaming softly and crying as she did.
__
Jules was outside alone when she heard a rustle of leaves, "I know you're out there."
Stefan emerged from the woods with Tyler, "Where's Faye?"
"Locked up tight."
"Let her go, and I'll release Tyler." Stefan told her. Jules didn't move, "It doesn't have to get any messier than it already has. I'm not your enemy, Jules."
"It's a little late to be waving the white flag, don't you think?" Jules asked him.
"You need to leave town. No one else has to get hurt." Stefan told her.
Jules shook her head, "I'm not leaving without Tyler."
"Tyler is free to make his own decisions, as soon as you release Faye." Stefan told her.
Damon arrived and groaned, "My brother the peacemaker. Since Stefan got here before me I'm gonna let him try it his way before I resort to my way, which is a little bloodier. So give us Faye."
"Let go of Tyler." Jules countered.
"Give us Faye." Damon growled, "Without a full moon it's not an even fight and you know it. We will take you."
"I'm not so sure about that, tough guy." Jules whistled and the rest of her pack walked out of the woods with weapons, "Let's try this again. Give us Tyler."
Damon looked at Tyler, "You heard her. Go. Get over there." Tyler walked over to Jules quickly.
"Which one of you killed Mason?" Brady asked the Salvatores.
Damon wiggled his fingers in the air, "Uh, that'd be me"
"Boys, make sure that one suffers." Brady instructed. All the werewolves began closing in on them.
"We can take them." Damon said to Stefan.
Stefan shrugged, "I don't know about that."
"Well then..."
Damon rushed over to Jules, but she flipped on to the top of RV. Tyler went inside as everyone fought. One of the pack members tried to set Stefan aflame. Stefan instead turned it around and burned two of the werewolves. Damon ripped out of the heart of a werewolf who had tried to jump on him.
Inside the RV, Faye looked up when Tyler entered, "Tyler, there's a latch on the door and I can't get to it." Tyler hesitated, "Tyler?" She looked up at him pitifully, "Tyler, please! Tyler?"
Finally, Tyler opened the cage for her. She rushed out as fast as she could to help Damon and Stefan fight.
Faye rushed towards Stefan when she saw him fighting with one of the werewolves. She latched herself on to the werewolf's throat, ripping out his jugular vein. He fell to the ground dead and Stefan looked at Faye, seeing blood covering her face. She nodded before turning around to fight.
An arrow flew through the air at Faye and she caught it. She threw it straight back at the werewolf. It stabbed him in the throat, killing him.
One of the werewolves staked Stefan in the back, sending him in to the ground. Damon was fighting with Brady when Jules shot him. Faye growled and went after her, but Jules slammed her up against the RV, the gun she had pressing in to her back. Tyler watched as tear filled Faye's eyes, not doing anything to help her.
Suddenly, all the remaining werewolves, besides Tyler, dropped to their knees, clutching their heads. Their screams rang throughout the forest.
Faye looked around with a frown, "What's happening?"
"What the hell is going on?" Tyler asked.
Jonas Martin appeared in the clearing, chanting a spell. Faye smiled, knowing Elijah had come through for her. Damon and Stefan got up from the ground and looked at the warlock.
"Elijah made a promise to Elena. I'm here to see it's upheld. You need to go. Get out of here. Now." Jonas told the Salvatores, "Elijah's says to take care of his god-daughter." His eyes flickered over to Faye who was covered in blood. Damon and Stefan looked at her, confused, before they all rushed off together.
__
Faye went home. She went to her actual home out on the outskirts of Mystic Falls where her aunt had currently lived. She came here so she can just get away from it all. She didn't want to hear Damon yelling at her for not telling them about Elijah.
"So is Lacey home?" Stefan asked Faye as they stood in the doorway of the Daniels' home, talking.
Faye shook her head, "She's in New York visiting a friend. She knows I'm here though."
"I can come in, if you want me to." Stefan told her.
"I'm fine, Stefan." She insisted.
"You don't have to pretend with me." He said, "Anybody would be upset after what you went through tonight."
"I'm okay. I'm not a little girl. I can handle myself." Faye told Stefan.
"Sure you can."
Faye sighed, "I just really want to go shower so..."
"Okay."
"Good night."
"Good night."
Faye retreated back in to the house, shutting the door behind her.
__
Faye got up from her spot on the couch after she had taken a shower and heard the door knock. She opened it.
"Are you okay?" Tyler asked as soon as she opened up the door.
"How did you find me here?" Faye asked him.
"I followed your scent." Tyler informed her, "Are you okay?"
She nodded, "I'm fine."
"I had no idea they would come for you." He said, shaking his head.
Faye narrowed her eyes at him, "Do you know what they did to me?"
"I'm sorry, but it's crazy now, okay?" Tyler said, "I don't know who to trust. You lied to me."
"I lied to protect my friends. I lied to protect you. Don't you get that?" Faye looked at him, not believing he was this delusional.
"Faye..."
"You just stood there when they were going to kill us. You just stood there!" Faye yelled at him, tears in her eyes, "You didn't do anything!"
Tyler shrugged at he yelled back, "I didn't know what to do!"
"You help your friend, that's what you do." Faye said.
Tyler looked down shamefully, "I'm sorry."
"No, it's too late, because we're not friends anymore. And what happened to me tonight, that will never happen again or I'll will slaughter every single one of them." Faye threatened, "So, you take that back to your little werewolf pack, and you get the hell out of my house!" She slammed the door in his face, going back to her spot on the couch.
__
The door knocked again and Faye had to get up and go get it. Again. Stefan was once again on the front porch.
"What's going on?" Faye asked softly.
"I was a bit worried about you, after everything you went through tonight." Stefan told her.
Faye sighed, "I already told you Stefan, I'm fine."
"Good. But, just in case, I brought some back up." Caroline, Elena, and surprisingly Bonnie appeared behind him in their pajama's and holding pillows.
"We're gonna slumber it!" Caroline called out.
Elena smiled at the hybrid, "You've never done it before so were introducing you to slumber parties."
"It's fun, we swear." Bonnie said, grinning.
Faye broke out in tears all the girl enveloped the girl in a big hug. She looked up at Stefan and mouthed a thank you before snuggling in to the group hug.
