A horrible decision, really. (50)
*Eugene's POV*
It's finals week. I'm getting an average B in every class but one. Music history. No matter how many times Rapunzel tries to help me with it, I still do horrible on the tests. The only test I've passed with an A+ was the singing test I sang with Rapunzel. "Come on Eugene, you know what this symbol is." Rapunzel said holding up one of her flash cards.
"Umm, a whole note?" I asked.
"No, it's a quarter note." Rapunzel sighed. "Fine, you should know this one."
"Umm dotted quarter note?"
"Whole note! Did you even study before I came?"
"No, I thought I knew them."
"Well, turns out you're wrong. Let's start from the beginning. How many counts does a whole note get?"
"Umm three?"
"Four, Eugene! Four!"
"Why is this so hard!?"
"Let's go from another angle. Every note that isn't filled in has an even count."
"Okay."
"So, how many counts does a HALF note get?"
"Umm one?"
"No, no, no. Whole means four. So half of four issss..."
"Two!"
"Yes! So a quarter of four isss..." Rapunzel said excitedly.
"One!"
"Yes! Yes!" Rapunzel yelled hugging me. "Okay, okay. So how many counts does a dotted quarter note get?" Quarter equals one..and dotted equals a half..
"One and a half!" I yelled.
"Yes, yes! You're finally understanding!" Rapunzel screamed as she kissed my cheek. We studied for about two more hours and I finally felt ready for the test. "Eugene."
"Yes Blondie."
"I think you're ready for the test."
"Yes!"
"But, but, but. You need to keep studying and get an A on the test. You have a D. If you get an A, you will pass with a high C. Anything lower than an A, you might not pass."
"Don't worry Blondie, I'll study." I replied as I kissed her cheek.
"Good, now I'm going to go study for my math test. Bye, Eugene!" Rapunzel said as she walked to the door.
"Goodbye Rapunzel." I replied as I waved goodbye. I studied for about twenty more minutes until the guys came back.
"Eugene studying?" Kristoff teased.
"Yeah." I replied.
"Let's go do something fun!" Jack said.
"Yeah, today's our last full day here. Tomorrow is testing and the next day, we pack to leave." Kristoff added.
"Let's go out!" Hiccup said.
"I'm down for it." I said.
"K, I'll go tell the girls." Jack said.
*Rapunzel's POV*
I was so happy that Eugene was finally understanding music! I think he has a really good chance of passing music history. He just has to work at it. I walked into my room and saw everyone studying their books.
"Hey girls!" I greeted.
"Hey Rapunzel." They replied.
"Soo, how's the studying going?" I asked.
"Good, I only have one subject left to study." Elsa answered.
"Were you helping Eugene?" Merida asked.
"Yeah, he's finally understanding music!" I cheered.
"Good for him. I know how much he hates it." Merida laughed. I sat down on my bed and started studying. I was deep into my math book when Jack came.
"Me and the guys are going out." Jack said to Elsa.
"Okay, have fun." Elsa replied.
"Wait, wait, wait. Is Eugene going out?" I asked.
"Yeah?" Jack questioned. I grabbed my frying pan and ran to their room.
"EUGENE FITZHERBERT!" I yelled as I ran into their room.
"Yeah?" Eugene asked scared.
"Are you going out tonight?" I asked crossing my arms.
"Yeah, why?"
"Shouldn't you be studying?" I asked.
"I've got this test in the bag." Eugene said trying to walk past me.
"I don't think so. You are going to stay here and study." I replied, blocking his path.
"No, I'm going out with the guys." Eugene replied walking past me. He walked away, thinking I was going to let him leave. Before he got out the door, I smacked him in the head with my frying pan. He fell to the floor.
"What did you do!" Jack screamed.
"I think I knocked him out?" I said. I jumped to the floor to listen for his breathing. I heard his steady breathing and knew he was unconscious. "He's not dead."
"At first I thought you murdered him." Kristoff laughed.
"I will if he leaves with you guys." I replied.
"What?" The buys questioned. I wrapped my hair around his body and dragged him to my room.
"Can you open the door?" I asked the boys.
"What are you going to do to him?" They asked mortified.
"Making sure he doesn't leave." I replied. They opened the door and I dragged him in.
"What did you do?" Anna asked.
"Knocked him out. He'll be fine." I replied. I sat him in a chair and started tying him up with my hair.
"You're starting to creep me out Rapunzel." Hiccup said from the door.
"Really? I like this side of Rapunzel!" Merida cheered. I finished tying him up and waited for him to wake up.
"So you're making him stay here?" Jack asked.
"Ya, until he agrees to study." I replied. We all sat and waited for him to wake up. Pascal got curious and climbed up his shoulder and slapped him. He got scared and blended into Eugene's vest. We laughed and he shot us a glare.
"Ooo, when he wakes up. I want to scare him." I said.
"Ooo, what if we turned off all the lights except the one above him." Elsa said.
"And he can only see Rapunzel!" Jack added.
"Perfect!" I said. We shut off all the lights and everyone hid in the dark except Eugene. Pascal decided to wake up Eugene. He started slapping his face, but Eugene wouldn't wake up. Pascal shot his tongue into Eugene's ear. Eugene yelled and scared Pascal, making him fall to the floor.
"What? Blondie...is this...your hair?" Eugene asked as he tried freeing his hands and legs.
"Struggling is pointless." I yelled.
"Rapunzel, let me out." Eugene groaned.
"No." I argued, stepping into the light.
"Why are all the lights off?" Eugene asked.
"For dramatic effect, duh!" I replied.
"Rapunzel ca-" Eugene started.
"So what do you remember?" I asked cutting him off.
"I was studying music when the boys came back. I was getting ready to leave when you came down the hall screaming my name and...wait...where are the others?" Eugene questioned.
"I've hidden them. Somewhere you'll never find them." I replied. Eugene looked around.
"They're hiding in the dark, aren't they?" Eugene smirked. I smacked him on the head with my pan, knocking him out again.
"Punzie!" They cried.
"What? He found out. Now we have to find a new finding spot." I replied.
"Fine." They replied. They hid under our beds. Pascal climbed up Eugene's shoulder and stuck his tongue into Eugene's ear again. Eugene woke up and saw Pascal and yelled.
"Would you stop that?" Eugene said rubbing his ear against his shoulder.
"Now they're hidden where you'll never find them." I replied. "So, what were you planning on doing tonight." I asked as I circled him. "Staying up late?" I questioned.
"What?" Eugene asked.
"Going drinking?" I asked.
"No!" Eugene yelled. "Listen the only thing I want to do tonight, is hang out with the boys."
"Wait, you're not planning to stay up?"
"Why on earth would I do that before finals?" Eugene asked.
"You're telling the truth?" I asked.
"Yes!" Eugene cried. Pascal climbed up my frying pan and stared Eugene in the eyes, making sure he wasn't lying. I turned around to have a private conversation with Pascal.
"I think he's telling the truth." I whispered. We debated and finally deciding to trust him. I heard Eugene try to scoot his chair away from me, closer to the door. "Okay, Eugene Fitzherbert, I'm prepared to offer you a deal." I said.
"Deal?" Eugene questioned.
"Look this way." I replied turning his chair around. I pulled too hard and he fell on his face.
"Do you know what this is?" I questioned holding a clock.
"Yeah, a clock." Eugene said with his face smashed against the floor.
"Tomorrow, we have finals. You will have no alcohol and be back by 10:00 and then and only then will I let you go out. That is my deal." I replied.
"Ya, no can do." Eugene said twisting his chair so he was on his side. "My friends and I want to stay out later then 10:00 so I don't think this deal will work." I looked at Pascal and he punched his fist against his hand.
"Something brought you here, Eugene Fitzherbert. Call it what you will, fate, destiny.."
"You."
"And I have made the decision to trust you."
"A horrible decision, really."
"But trust me when I tell you this." I yelled as he pulled his chair so I was holding it.
"You can go out and party as long as you want. But unless you study, you will never pass music history."
"Let me just get this straight. I can go out tonight with my friends if I come back by 10:00 and have no alcohol."
"Exactly." I replied. He gave me his "are you serious" face.
"Alright listen I didn't want to have to do this but you leave me no choice, here comes the smolder." Eugene said knowing that it always makes me smile. He pulled his head up in his signature smolder pose. Man, he does look cute. I tried my hardest to keep a straight face."This is kind of an off day for me, this doesn't normally happen." I hid my smile under a frown. "Fine, I'll be back home by 10:00." Eugene said in defeat.
"Really?" I cheered as I jump up. "O0ps." I said as I heard Eugene fall to the floor face first.
"You broke my smolder." He cried. As I picked him up he looked shocked.
"What?" I asked.
"There's people under your bed." Eugene cried.
"Yeah, about that." I said.
"Why are they there?!" Eugene asked. Someone ran over and turned on the lights. Everyone crawled out from under the beds.
"Hey Eugene." Jack said.
"Hey?" He replied confused.
"Guess we know who wears the pants in your relationship." Kristoff chuckled elbowing Eugene playfully. Eugene shot him a death glare. "No?" Kristoff replied. He back away quickly.
"They were under the bed the whole time!" Eugene yelled.
"Well they were hiding in the dark until you found them." I replied.
"Well it's not my fault I'm a good guesser. Can you untie me now please!" Eugene begged.
"No I want to have some fun!" Jack said. He reached over messed with Eugene's hair.
"Hey!" Eugene yelled.
"Jack." Elsa scolded.
"Okay, okay." Jack chuckled.
"Looks like you're tangled up." Hiccup laughed. Eugene shot him a death glare and mouthed 'do you want to get punched?'. I giggled because Eugene was really mad at everyone.
"Someone's cranky. Maybe I should put your bedtime to 9:30." I teased as I untied Eugene.
"No thanks, I'm in a great mood and 10:00 is late enough." Eugene quickly smiled.
"Remember our deal." I said as I walked with Eugene to the door.
"Yeah, yeah. Be back by 10:00 and no alcohol." Eugene said as he kissed me on the cheek.
"Good. And it's okay if you come back earlier." I said.
"Yeah, like that's going to happen." Eugene chuckled. I shot him a glare, making him stiff up.
"Okay, okay. I'm going to go now. Love you!" Eugene called as he walked down the hall.
"Love you too! Be smart!" I yelled.
"I will! But we might have to watch out for Jack." Eugene teased.
"Hey! I heard you." Jack said as he tackled Eugene. I giggled and shut the door. I walked back to my bed to continue studying. I felt happy knowing that Eugene would be safe.
