Chapter 11
And we are back for Chapter 11. Going to be a short one so let's just get right into it. This stays in the same perspective as that last chapter left off, the gang's. Well if you hadn't guessed already there you go. Like the last chapter, there is a soft transition but back to the normal PoV.

It had only been a few days since the new group of riders and dragons had been rescued from the Queen, and they had spent those days observing how the King ruled over the Sanctuary. What they saw shocked them as they had grown up in an environment where every dragon in the Nest was expected to give all food from the raids to the Queen and then hunt for their own food during the day while they were tired. It was completely different here. Instead of having to give all the food from the raids to the Queen; the King provided food for his subjects by making it rain fish once a day, literally.
"What took you two idiots so long? We were supposed to do this hours ago!" Blaze snapped at the Twins once he saw they had finally arrived at the meeting. They had planned to meet earlier in the day but neither of the Twins could be found and it was now approaching night time.
"Chill out man, we just lost track of time." Spark offhandedly said to him as the two sat down with their dragon behind them. Blaze made to respond when he noticed Aqria glaring at the both of them and he did not want to be on her bad side, again.
"Now that everybody is here; we have to decide if we are going to stay in this Sanctuary or leave and survive on our own," Aqria said once the three settled down. "I think that no matter what we pick, we should try and free the others from Her control. Not having to worry about the consequences of being under Her control, it's something that every Dragon should know." The rest of the gang looked at her and they all shared a common look. They had all just agreed that rescuing their fellow dragons from the evil grasp of the Queen's control should be a priority.
"Then if we are doing that then I guess we should leave. Cause I doubt they will want us coming and going while leaving dragons they don't know," Earthen suggested to the group. "It would incite a Nest War."
"I guess it's decided then, let's go. I've had enough of this place anyways," Blaze said while standing up and preparing to leave the cave that had been their temporary home for the past few days.
"Sit back down," Aqria snapped at him, which he did under protest.
"If they thought that way then why would they bring us here and insist we stay? I mean they could have left us anywhere out in the wild." Spark pondered aloud.
"They could be holding us prisoners?" Boom responded.
"Then why let us walk around freely?"
"It could be a trick to make us think we aren't, then when the time is right we get trapped!" The other three teens ignored most of what the twins said in their crazy banter but every now and again, one of them came up with something that actually resembled a coherent thought. Especially considering more often than not it ended with them in sibling squabbles that Barf and Belch would have to break apart, and this was no exception. The rest of the group would ignore the twins and their Zippleback as they wrestled.
"You know, they actually made a good point. Why would they bring us here and wish we would stay if they didn't want to fight Her?" Earthen asked, trying to think about the bigger picture that was at play.
"Well, it's not like we can't ask them." One of the twins said from the tussle they were still in. The three other riders looked at each other before back at the twins just as Barf and Belch got them separated. With that discussion at its end, the group got on their way to find one of the riders who had helped rescue them from the Queen. It just so happened that they found Hiccup and Toothless first.
"Hello, how are the five of you doing today?" He asked the group in mind speech, something that they still had not gotten used to hearing from a human despite always being able to hear it from their dragons, the Queen, and the King. The group would all answer collectively, talking over each other and nodding. "I'm glad to hear everybody is doing good, was there something you wanted to talk with me about?"
"There was, we came to a decision about what to do but first we have a few questions to ask you," Aqria said to the pair. Hiccup looked at Toothless expectedly for a few seconds before back at them.
"Well then, ask away and I'll do my best to answer them," came the response in their heads.
"Why did you take us away from the Queen?" Blaze asked suddenly and with a hint of accusation in his voice as if he was sad to have been taken away from Her.
"Because it was the right thing to do. She is an evil tyrant who needs to be deposed, and we figured that by taking out Her five top generals she would be weakened enough to give us more time and allow us to come up with a proper strategy to defeat Her," Hiccup stated rather matter of factly to the group.
"So would it be possible for us to use the Sanctuary as a base to try and free other dragons from Her tyranny?" Aqria asked hopefully. Hiccup couldn't hear the apprehension that she held in her voice, but he could see it in her body language.
"Ya, cause this place is, like, totally awesome!" Spark added in from where he was standing near the back of the group. Hiccup looked over at Toothless and held the gaze with him for about a minute as they seemed to be discussing it, that is if their body language was anything to go off of. The pair soon looked back at the group and Hiccup once again spoke up.
"That is an issue you would have to take up with the King because it is his Sanctuary. Though honestly, I don't see any reason why he would turn down your offer to help us," Hiccup told them. That made the group ecstatic as even though they had talked seriously about leaving, deep down they all wanted to stay. After all, here they were protected, food was plentiful and everything was provided.
"Hiccup is correct, there is no reason that I would deny your request to stay and help us in our battle against Her tranny, though I would still allow you to stay even if you did not help in our fight," The calm voice of the Great Bewilderbeast came echoing through their heads. The group became even more excited with the Twins headbutting each other and their dragon. Though Hiccup couldn't hear anything that they said or did, he could only see their celebration and sense their happiness.
"Well I hate to interrupt the celebration, but since you are going to stay here on a more permanent basis then we need to go over a few more things with you," Hiccup said to them and they soon stopped their celebration and looked at him. He went over a few things, such as where the nursery was, the little nuances of how the pairs lived in the Sanctuary, and some other things that it was decided not to tell them unless they decided to stay there. Once Hiccup had finished he let the group continue to celebrate while he and Toothless went to their cave.
"So how helpful do you think they are going to be?" Zahnlos asked his bonded as they made their way to their cave to sleep. Hiccup had been working on some more intensive mental exercises with the King and because of Zahnlos sharing his energy through their bond, this had made both of them rather tired.
"No doubt they will be helpful. Without their leadership, the raids should become more chaotic and easier for this plan of ours to work," Came the response as they entered their cave. Hiccup would let out a yawn. Even though it was mid-day, the fact that he was up all night patrolling and dealing with raids meant he had effectively become nocturnal. Not that Zahnlos was complaining about his human joining him in the nocturnal lifestyle.
"I hope it works...But I still don't like it."
"Oh, you worry too much you big baby boo."
"And you not enough, now let's get some sleep before you pass out," Zahnlos said as Hiccup stumbled over a dip in the floor and ended up lying down in his wings with the pair soon falling fast asleep.
-------------Magic Line Break-------------
"Zahnlos! Where are you, buddy?" Hiccup shouted out through the thick, heavy, black smoke that was surrounding him, trying to find his bonded. He didn't hear anything back but a loud raspy breathing that seemed to echo from everywhere.
"Zahnlos!" Hiccup tried again but with no better results. This time instead of standing in place he started walking forward, hoping he would come across something friendly and familiar sooner rather than later. No sooner had he started walking forward than he tripped on and fell onto something cold and scaley. Feeling around for something to identify who he had just fallen on, he felt the tell-tale spines of a Nadder and something else that made him horrified. Suddenly the world seemed to light up and Hiccup could see what he had just felt.
The dragon he had landed on was Stormfly, Aqria's Nadder, and she was covered in deep gashes, like the one he had felt a moment before. Horrified at the sight, and seeing that there was nothing he could do for her, Hiccup stood up and looked around and he felt like puking. Where he was standing was the middle of what could only be described as a killing field. Dead and dying dragons were spread out on the ground as far as his eyes could see.
"See What Resisting My Rule Gets You?" Hiccup heard in his head as he dropped to his knees from the pain that it caused his mind, his hands reaching up to grasp his head.
"Who are you?" Hiccup shouted as the pain subsided. Slowly getting back to his feet, Hiccup would see a massive shape appear through the smoke. Hopeful that it was the King, he would have that hope shattered before his eyes as the rough bulbous face of the Queen appeared through the smoke. Hiccup fell backward to the ground, the overwhelming pain in his mind back and now spreading to the rest of his body.
"You Know Who I Am," She said to him while advancing on where he was writhing on the ground in pain. Soon, She would be standing directly over Hiccup, one of her claws easily big enough to crush him completely.
"Oh I'm Sorry, Is That Painful?" She taunted him while lowering Her head to be just in front of the boy. All six eyes opened and focused on the little human lying on the ground in front of her. Hiccup couldn't hold it in any longer, and finally let a scream escape past his lips as the pain became unbearable. It felt as if he was being stabbed with pins and needles all over his body.
'This isn't real, this isn't real!!' Hiccup kept thinking as pain assaulted him. His eyes were closed, his lips pursed to keep him from crying out again and he was curled up into a ball on the harsh stone floor. 'Come on Hiccup, pull yourself together!' He thought as a burst of loud and horrible laughter filled the space, echoing from the Queen.
"What do you want?!" He heaved when the feeling of being stabbed let up slightly as Her large head moved away. The massive dragon still had its multiple beady eyes trained on him.
"Your Broken and Mangled Body At The Bottom Of A Ravine Would Be A Good Start." It grumbled, before starting to chuckle as if imagining that very scene.
"Zahnlos!!" Hiccup shouted again in desperation. The thought that this horrible creature was going to kill him in his sleep starting to seem like a real possibility and the panic was starting to seep in. "Zahnlos, bud, please where are you!?!"
"Look Around You Viking, I Killed Them All," The Queen gleefully roared. "No One Can Save You Now, Little Viking."
"You couldn't have!" Hiccup heaved as the intense pain still coursed through his body, though it was starting to seem to dissipate.
"Nobody Tells Me What I Can't Do, And You Will Soon Find Out Just What I Can Do......Now BURN!" Hiccup's eyes widened as the gigantic maw started to fill with gas.
"Oh, Thor no.... Oh, Thor no.....ZAHNLOS!!" He shouted one more time in desperation as the Queen let loose with her fire directly at him, incinerating the entire area. Still incapacitated by the pain, there was nothing Hiccup could do as the flames landed directly on him and spread out. The flames seared his flesh and he screamed in pain louder than he had ever screamed before. Hiccup bolted upright screaming as his eyes snapped open, his bonded's head hovering closely over him with worry evident on his face, flooding their bond and overwhelming him once again.
"Hiccup! Oh, thank Thor you're alright!" Zahnlos said as he gave a tentative lick to make sure he was okay. "You were screaming for me in your sleep and nothing I did could wake you."
"It was horrible," Hiccup said as he laid back down and turned over to hug Zahnlos tightly, letting the dragon wrap his wings tight around him as well and he started to cry. Hiccup didn't say anything else as he lay there crying. Zahnlos didn't say anything either, neither of them did. Everything was going through their bond; emotions, feelings, the memory of the nightmare, everything. It was all moving at a rate faster than if they were talking. Nothing else was said between the two for the rest of the night as they fell back asleep with Hiccup held protectively against the Night Fury's chest. The feeling of Zahnlos's steady heartbeat as well as their minds intermingling helped provide comfort to each other even after they fell asleep.

So uhm, ya. That happened. Just some casual nightmares for Hiccup and, by extension, Zahnlos to have to deal with....or were they? *Maniacal laughter* That's for me to know and you to find out.
Also, yes I am aware I have been gone a long time. Blame that on getting a second job and just generally being busy. Hopefully I can get back long enough to finish this story for everybody and not leave you hanging any longer then I need to. If I can remember, I'm going to aim for an every other week upload.
Until Next Time,
