Chapter 1: Farmer Refuted

1st chapter
Samuel's POV

I sigh, slowly making my way to my room. Everything went to shit. This month was horrible. I was sent to the colonies to give my thoughts on the continental congress, only to be publicly humiliated. King George was not pleased to hear about the rude orphan. I believe his name was Alexander Hamilton? I really don't care. I've been stressed ever since the encounter with Mr. Hamilton. Hopefully, some rest will help. I passed the king's room and heard muffled yelling. I ignored it and continued to my bedroom. Changing into my nightgown and jumping into bed, my mind wandering off.

(small flashback)

"They're playing a dangerous game. I pray the king shows you his mercy. For shame, for shame..." I stated, only to be rudely interrupted by a young rebel. "Yo! He'd have you all unravel at the sound of screams, but the Revolution is comin'!" I raise my voice, only for the boy to shout over me. After a while, the man started insulting the king. "I pray the king shows you his mercy."

"Is he in Jersey?"

"For shame."

"For the Revolution."

"For shame!"

"FOR THE REVOLUTION!" The man successfully got the crowd on his side. I made one last attempt to get the people to see my way, only to be interrupted again. "Heed-"

"You repeat yourself again I'm gonna scream! Honestly, look at me please don't read!" The man yanks the papers I held out of my hands, quickly throwing them onto the ground. "Not your interests-"

"Don't modulate the key then not debate with me!" The man continues to ramble as another male, who I guessed was his friend, walks up and says, "Alexander, please!"

"Burr, I'd rather be divisive than indecisive, drop the niceties." That's when British soldiers took notice of the situation. They pushed the man named 'Alexander' aside while saying, "Silence! A message from the King! A message from the King!"

I sighed deeply. That Hamilton fellow made a fool out of me. If the guards (and that Burr guy) didn't interfere, I don't know what I would've done. It didn't help that there was a group, probably more of Hamilton's friends, laughing. It was bad enough that had to speak in front of that many people, but I was made a joke. Why am I like this? Hamilton of all people was the one to frighten me. I was never great at defending myself. I was only good at following orders and giving speeches; and even I messed up at that! I hope tomorrow will be better. Please god, let my luck turn around. And make sure the king doesn't yell at me in the morning. I don't want to wake up to shrieking. With that, my eyelids grew heavy, and soon closed.
