"They are so still," Zoe comments as she and Lucy look up at the trees, who use to be full of life.

"They are trees what do you expect?" Trumpkin, The dwarf, asks as he glances at the girls before up at the trees.

"They used to dance," Lucy answers with a frown as she continues to look up at the trees from the boat.

"It wasn't long after you lot left that the Telemarines came. Those who could, retreated to the woods. The trees retreated so deep into themselves that they haven't been heard from since," Trumpkin explains with a grim expression, causing Zoe to look down sadly since they did not mean to leave Narnia.

"I don't understand. How could Aslan have let this happen?" Lucy asks as she looks around with a frown.

"Aslan? We thought he had abandoned us when you all did," Trumpkin responds which causes Zoe to let out a sigh as she holds back tears that does not go unnoticed by Peter.

"We didn't mean to leave, you know?" Peter tells him as he slowly wraps an arm around Zoe, who melts into his embrace. There is something about Narnia that seems to bring the two closer together.

"It makes no difference now does it," Trumpkin says with a shrug as he continues to row the boat with Edmund's help.

"Get us to the Narnians and it will," Zoe replies with a newfound determination to help save the place that was their home for ten years.

They soon come to shore before getting out of the boat. Zoe, Susan, Peter, and Edmund pull the boat on shore before Trumpkin anchors it.

"Hello there," Lucy softly greets as she sees a bear, which stands up on two legs. "It's all right. We're friends."

"Don't move your majesty," Trumpkin orders as the bear drops back down onto four legs with a growl.

"Lucy!" Zoe yells as the bear starts running towards the little girl. "No."

Lucy tries to run away but she ends up tripping, causing her to fall. Zoe quickly runs towards the girl, sliding through the sand to get to her before covering Lucy with her body.

"Shoot, Susan, shoot," Edmund yells as the bear gets near Lucy and Zoe.

"Susan! Now!" Peter screams as the bear stands up ready to attack before an arrow embeds into the bear, killing it.

Zoe and Lucy look at the bear before looking back to find that it was Trumpkin who shot the bear.

"Why wouldn't he stop?" Susan asks as she lowers her bow with a frown.

"I suspect he was hungry," Trumpkin responds as they walk over to Zoe and Lucy.

"Thanks," Lucy tells Trumpkin.

"He was wild," Edmund states as he inspects the bear.

"I don't think he could talk at all," Peter adds as he places a hand on Zoe's arm to make sure that she is not injured.

"You get treated like a dumb animal long enough, that's what you become," Trumpkin explains with a huff as he looks up at them with a frown. "You may find Narnia a more savage place than you remember."

"I don't remember this way," Zoe admits as she walks with Peter, who is leading the way to where Trumpkin last saw the boy that blew the horn.

"That's the problem with girls, you can't carry a map in your heads," Peter quips with a teasing smile, causing Zoe to playfully roll her eyes as she pushes him.

"Because our heads have something in them," Lucy retorts which causes Zoe to lightly laugh as she drops back to join Lucy and Susan.

"I wish he would just listen to DLF in the first place," Susan says as she, Lucy, and Zoe walk together.

"DLF?" Edmund asks confused as he catches up to the girls.

"Dear Little Friend," Lucy answers him with a smile while glancing at Trumpkin.

"Oh, that's not at all patronizing, is it?" Trumpkin asks with a slightly annoyed expression.

"I'm not lost," Peter says to himself as he comes to a stop while looking around.

"No, you are just going the wrong way," Trumpkin retorts as he walks over to Peter.

"You last saw Caspian in the shuddering woods, the quickest way there is to cross at the river rush," Peter explains as he motions in the direction that river rush is supposed to be.

"Unless I am mistaken, there is no crossing in these parts," Trumpkin states with a shake of his head.

"That explains it then, you're mistaken," Peter responds as he continues the path he was on.

They come to the spot where Peter remembers the crossing to have been, but there is no longer a crossing, just a sheer drop off of a cliff.

"See over time water eroded the Earth's soil..." Susan starts to explain the scientific reasoning for the crossing to be gone.

"Oh, shut up," Peter says as he rolls his eyes.

"Is there a way down?" Edmund asks as he turns to look at Trumpkin.

"Yeah, falling," Trumpkin replies as Zoe looks over the edge with a slight gulp because of how far down the drop is.

"Well, we weren't lost," Peter defends with a shrug of his shoulders.

"There's a ford near Beruna. How do you feel about swimming?" Trumpkin asks as he looks at each of them.

"I'd rather that than walking," Susan answers as everyone besides Lucy and Zoe turn around to start walking.

"Aslan?" Lucy asks as she sees the great lion. "It's Aslan!" Lucy turns to the others as Zoe is quick to look where Lucy is pointing. "It's Aslan over there!"

Lucy gets everyone's attention but when she turns back Aslan is gone. Zoe sighs as she doubts whether she actually saw Aslan or just some random lion since she had only caught a glimpse.

"Do you see him now?" Trumpkin asks with unimpressed expression since he did not see anything.

"I'm not crazy. He was there. He wanted us to follow him," Lucy explains as she glances over at Zoe for help.

"I'm sure there is any number of lions in this wood. Just like that bear," Peter responds as he notices Zoe's unsure look.

"I think I know Aslan when I see him," Lucy quickly defends herself as she glares at her brother.

"Look, I'm not about to jump off a cliff after someone who doesn't exist," Trumpkin states with a shake of his head.

"The last time I didn't believe Lucy I ended up looking pretty stupid," Edmund admits, knowing not to doubt his little sister.

"Why wouldn't I have seen him?" Peter asks as he looks back to where Lucy had pointed.

"Maybe you weren't looking," Lucy replies with a shrug while Zoe glances back over where she had seen the lion. "Zoe, did you see him?"

"I'm having a very hard time believing what I saw was a lion or even Aslan. I'm sorry. But you know it doesn't matter what I believe, Lu. As long as you believe that it was Aslan over there then it really was," Zoe explains to her with a small frown as she glances back over where the lion was seen.

"I'm sorry, Lu," Peter apologizes since he could simply not believe that Lucy saw Aslan when he did not.

Zoe squeezes Peter's arm before she, Peter, and Susan start following Trumpkin. Lucy looks to where she saw Aslan while Edmund hangs back for her before they quickly follow the others.
