"On your feet".

Benjamin eyes the sharp sword hovering above his neck and slowly raised himself up. Beside him, Jack did the same. A well dressed man ran forward towards the soggy woman and pulled her away from the two men. Benj thought that he had seen him before somewhere but he couldn't place it. He wrapped her up in a cloak to cover her state of undress and shot a accusing look at the soldier currently holding the remains of her corset. The soldier shook his head and pointed to Jack. All eyes turned to Jack and Benj.

"Shoot them", the man, probably a lord or some other rich toff, ordered coldly. All the barrels lifted and pointed themselves at Jack and Benjamin.

"Father", the girl cried out in disbelief. So she was some rich girl, maybe Benjamin could get some money out of this. "You don't Honestly plan on shooting my rescuers".

"Indeed", the man in the blue coat who had pointed his sword at Benj's neck, lowered his gun. He was obviously a leader of some sort as the soldiers followed his action. The commander stuck out his hand. "We thank you for saving Miss swan".

Benjamin was too busy contemplating the familiar name to notice Jack hesitatingly reaching to take the commander's hand. The commander seized him by the wrist and yanked up his sleeve. "Had a brush with the East Indian trading company have we?" He asked triumphantly as everyone got a glimpse of the branded letter P on Jack's wrist.

"Sorry mate", Benj grinned, waving his bare wrists. "No brands on me".

"Not so fast". Using his sword tip, the commander pushed down the wide neck of his shirt to reveal a tattooed pattern of scales and water decorating his collar bone.

"Hang them", the rich toff ordered.

"Keep your guns on them men", the commander directed and the barrels raised to point directly at them again. "Well, well", the commander continued smugly. Benjamin wanted to run a sword through him. "If it isn't Jack Sparrow and Benjamin Bennet. I thought you'd be better, or"- he gave a pointed look at Benjamin's bare feet -"wearing shoes at the lest".

"Captain", Jack corrected. Benj rolled his eyes.

"Well I don't see your ship".

"He said they had come to commander one", one of the two stupid guards spoke up. "These are Their's sir", the second stupid guard held up their things.

"A musket with one bullet, a compass that doesn't point north", the commander listed as he rummaged through their belongings. Benj gritted his teeth and glared. The man drew both their swords. "And I half expected them to be made of wood. You two are by far the worst pirates I have ever heard off".

"Aha", Benj smirked. "But you've heard of us". This set the commander off somehow and he grabbed the two of them by their shirts and thrust them forward. The soldiers marched them across the jetty and over to where a man was waiting with handcuffs.

"Commander!" Elizabeth stormed forwards to stand in front of them before the commander. "I really must protest. Pirate or not, these men saved my life".

"One good deed is not enough to ignore a lifetime of wickedness".

"But it seems a lot to condemn him", Jack muttered as the cuffs were locked around his wrists. He raised his eyes to meet Benjamin's and he nodded. Breaking free of the commander's hold, he caught Elizabeth by the throat and pull her tightly against him.

"No!" Her father cried as the soldiers surged forwards. "No don't shoot!"

"Don't move or my friend here will rip her pretty throat out", Jack stated. "Savvy?"

"With what weapon?" Someone stupid asked. Benjamin grinned, revealing his row of very sharp pointed teeth. The soldiers recoiled in shock and Elizabeth whimpered slightly.

"Ah I knew you'd warm up to me", Jack smiled. "Pass me My affects or Elizabeth, it is Elizabeth right?"

"It's miss Swan to you".

"Right, or Elizabeth gets it".

"I would hurry up if I were you", Benj smirked at the terrified soldiers. "I don't make a habit of eating human flesh but it has been known to happen and I'm quite hungry". Jack's items were practically shoved into his hands and he began re-strapping them with glee. He gave Benj his sword who slung it through his belt with one hand.

"You're despicable", Elizabeth cursed.

"Sticks and stones love", Jack grinned evilly. "We saved your life, you save ours".

Slowly, Jack and Benj began to walk backwards, keeping Elizabeth in front of them. "Gentleman, lady", Jack said. "You shall always remember the day that you almost caught Captain Jack Sparrow and Benjamin Bennet". As soon as he finished speaking, Benjamin shoved Elizabeth forwards. Her sudden weight caught the soldiers by surprise and the two pirates darted away; Jack going right, towards the town, whilst Benj threw himself into the sea, swimming away before anyone could think of shooting at him.

Luckily Jack provided an extravagant distraction by swinging around on a rope whilst being shot at before escaping into town. Benjamin watched his escape, keeping pace with the other through the water until Jack ducked down a side street. Cursing his luck, he watched the soldiers run down a different route before leaving the safety of the sea and sprinting silently up the beach.

Footsteps sounded behind him and Benjamin sneakily ducked into the blacksmiths forge, locking the door behind him. The donkey powering the bellows and the power hammer brawled quietly at his entrance. "What are you doing?" He hissed at Jack who was messing with the tool racks. "We need to get out of here". Glancing around, Benj could see that there was no one here, save for a man snoring in the corner completely drunk. He doubted that he would be much of a threat.

"Jimmy. You might want to lose the", Jack gestured to his mouth, baring his teeth and flapping his hands in a ridiculous imitation of Benj's mermaid features. Benj groaned but allowed himself to turn back to human. His teeth dulled and the webs between his fingers and the flippers of his feet smoothed back to their original shape.

"Fine, happy?"

"Much so. You look a lot less bitey. Now help me with these chains". With an exasperated huff, Benjamin obediently too the hammer out of Jack's hands and picked up the chisel. With a well placed hit, the link between the two cuffs broke and Jack waved his hands triumphantly.  "There, now let's get out of here". They were interrupted by the sound of the door opening. Quickly, both men ducked into hiding.

Benjamin jumped and quicker than a blink, climbed up into the rafters to hide in the gloom. Jack just ducked behind the forge, glaring jealously at Benj who shrugged smugly down at him as he lounged on a beam. He wicked his legs in the air for a minute to show off before pulling them up to his chest. It wasn't Benj's fault he had advanced reflexes, blame the mermaid blood. The door opened and a young man entered. He was dressed nicely in a pair of breached with white socks and a white shirt covered by a brown waistcoat. The clothes were clean but obviously poor quality, it just made Benj appreciate his clothing style a lot more.

The young man turned to calm down the donkey with an ease which made Benj think that he must work here, before shrugging off his coat and turning to the snoring drunkard in the corner. "Right where I left you", the man muttered to himself before turning to the anvil. Benj watched him frown as he spotted the discarded hammer. "But not where I left you".

The young man threw his coat onto a nearby hook and surveyed the room. His eyes caught on where Jack had left his hat hanging on a a set of swords, Benjamin almost cursed at Jack's stupidity. (If the guy was so attached to his hat, he shouldn't leave it lying around). As he reached out a hand a sword point descended to tap lightly on his wrist.

"You're the one their hunting, the pirate," the man stated, backing away from Jack's sword.

Benj could see Jack frown. "You're somewhat familiar, have I threatened you before?"

"I make a point of avoiding familiarity with pirates", the man replied.

"Ah", Jack said as if it solved everything. "Then I'll avoid putting a black mark on your record. If you'll excuse me"-

Instantly, the man snatched up a sword form the rack behind him and pointed it at Jack. Benjamin tried not to chuckle at the prospect of a good fight. Jack turned and regarded the sword. "Trying to pick a fight with a pirate, do you think this's wise boy?"

"You threatened Miss Swan". Was that the posh drowning girl's name? Benj had no clue.

"Only a little", Jack smirked before striking with his sword. The two traded blows and the forge was filled with the sounds o clanging steel. Benj watched with mild interest as the two danced below. The man was actually quite good.

"You know what you're doing, I'll give you that", Jack remarked between slashes. "But how's your foot work? If I step here"- the two circled each other warily, trading light attacks and parrys. They dance a bit more, Jack skipping around the man so that his back was to the door. He was enjoying this, Benj could see it. With a wave of his hand, Jack knocked the man's sword out of the way before hopping back.

"Ta", he grinned before lunging towards the door. He had just reached the handle when the man's sword impaled itself into the wood an inch from Jack's nose. Benjamin snorted in both surprise and in humour at the look on Jack's face. Luckily, neither man heard him. Jack tried to dislodge the sword only to fail at even shifting it, much to Benj's amusement.

"That is a nice trick, I'll give you that", Jack remarked. He strolled lightly along on the empty cart before pulling out his sword and pointing it at his opponent. "Except once again you are between me and my way out, and now you've got no weapon". Benj wondered why Jack couldn't just use the back door, every forge had one. It was stupid to have a building that was most likely going to burn down, depending on the skill of the blacksmith, and only have one exit. However, Jack seemed to have forgotten that fact.

The man thought for a second before lunging behind him and pulling the half finished sword from the fire and pointing it at Jack. The tip glowed red with heat, scaring the donkey into walking again. The wooden machinery began clunking as the Donkey walked, braying in panic, powering the bellows and a wooden power hammer. Up in the rafters, Benj watched excitedly from the corner of the room. He crossed his legs and peered below at the fight as Jack tried not to get impaled with a red hot sword.

The fight was a bit more serious now and whilst the man was good, Jack was better. Soon enough he had the sword skittering out of the man's hand. The man dived in the other direction, rolling under the wooden machinery to pull another sword from a rack on the wall. "Who the hell makes all these?" Jack asked, only now seeming to notice the dozens of swords hanging around the forge.

"I do", the man replied proudly as he ducked under Jack's swipe. "And I practice with them"- he dodged another swipe -"three hours a day".

"You need to get yourself a girl mate", Jack retorted as they ducked around the bellows. "Or a boy, depending on what you're into. He's just your type". The last part was directed towards Benj who was staying silent above.

"Or," Jack continued as their swords crossed. Each man was held at a standstill for a moment as they struggled to gain the upper hand. "You have already found yourself a girl or boy and are incapable of wooing said strumpet". Jack's face morphed into panic, "you're not a eunuch are you?"

"I practise three hours a day so that when I meet a pirate, I can kill him", the man shouted. He broke away from Jack to swipe angrily at him, forcing Jack to retreat onto the cart. The two of them battled for a moment, balancing like a seesaw on the rickety two wheeled cart, before with a flick, the man caught the end of the chain attached to Jack's wrist and pinned it to the beam above. Jack slashed wildly from his position, stomping on a wooden plank which caught the man under his chin and knocked him of the cart. The man fell back with a thump and Jack took the opportunity to struggle with the sword pining him. It was quite firmly lodged and Benjamin watched as Jack hoisted his whole weight up in an effort to dislodge it. Unfortunately, it was the exact moment the man leapt back onto the cart that it gave way. Jack hit one side of the cart, his weight catapulting the other man up into the air where he caught onto a stray beam. Once he had regained his footing, Jack glanced around in confusion for a moment before spotting his opponent. The man grinned at him before cutting down several sacks which was hanging from the ceiling. Their weight on the end of the cart in turn sent Jack up and into the air. He caught a beam and pulled himself up.

Seeing that both of them were on the same level as him, Benj got to his feet. As the two began fighting again, he danced around behind the man's back with quick agility. Luckily, the man seemed so occupied with Jack that he didn't notice the light footfalls behind him. Jack pulled a face at Benj as he avoided a particularly nasty strike and Benj responded with a grin and forming his hands into bunny ears above the Man's head. Jack snorted. And the man turned but Benj had already danced out of sight. Using the distraction of Jack's humour, the man knocked the sword out of his hand. The two of them stared at each other for a moment before both flipping onto the floor. As the man lunged towards him, Jack grabbed the bag full of sand from where it was hanging on the fireplace and threw it in the man's face, taking the opportunity to kick the sword from his hands. By the time he had recovered and snatched up a pair of tongs as a weapon, Jack had a gun to his face.

"You cheated", the man accused childishly. Benjamin could almost hear him whining. He bet that this sword fight had been the most fun that guy had experienced in years.

"Pirate", Jack sang. A loud banging came from the front doors. The soldiers had found them and were trying to break in. Immediately, the man jumped between Jack and the back door. "Move", Jack commanded.

"No".

"Please move".

"I can't let a pirate like you escape". This guy really had a thing against pirates, Benj wondered if they had killed anyone of his. A family member perhaps? A friend maybe? Even so, he seemed to have a massive grudge.

Jack sighed and removed the safety off his pistol. "This wasn't meant for you". The other man frowned in confusion at his words only to watch as there was a crash and Jack fell forward. The old drunkard stood behind him holding an empty bottle.

Benj retreated back into the shadows of the rafters at the door finally broke and the soldiers came pouring in. They surrounded the unconscious figure of Jack as the commander surveyed the scene. "Thank you Mr Smith", he commended the drunk who grunted before returning to his seat. He turned to the man Jack was fighting with distain. "Turner, you look dreadful. You should clean yourself up man. There was two pirates. Have you seen the other? He's younger, probably about your age". Turner shook his head and the commander sighed, "well no matter. He probably drowned trying to swim away. We'll find his corpse eventually". He glared smugly down at Jack's prone figure. "This is the day you almost escaped. Chain him up", he commanded before strolling out. The soldiers hastily re-chained Jacks hands before pulling him up and stumbling after him leaving Benjamin hidden safely in the rafters.
