For Greenleaf's Love
"Go north, Legolas, there you will meet a young ranger. His father, Arathorn, was a good man; his son could be even greater."
"What is his name Ada?"
"That you must figure out for yourself, though some call him Strider."
Legolas turned to leave, but more of his father's words stopped him.
"Your mother loved you, Legolas," Thranduil said. "She loved you more than life."
Legolas sat awake while the others slept. Elves did not need rest like other creatures, they took some when they were hurt or sick, but more than that was unnecessary. Legolas could hear the loud snoring of Gimli, the soft breathing of Samwise, the quiet sleep talk of Merry and Pippin. Gandalf was muttering something as h slept, and Aragorn just laid still. Frodo, however, stirred.
"Why do you wake, half-ling?" Legolas asked softly.
"Many dreams have haunted me since the carrying of the ring." Frodo answered sadly. "Do elves ever have dreams, Legolas?"
"Yes, but we rarely ever sleep. Much like dreams, though, we have visions when we are fully awake." Legolas looked down to see Frodo's curly brown head.
"Oh. When I sleep I only see a great fiery eye. It never closes, never moves, never goes away." Frodo's voice was shaky.
"It's the Eye of Sauron, Frodo. It senses the ring with you. It will only leave when the ring is destroyed. And even then, you will probably still be haunted by it." Legolas smiled grimly.
"Why did you come, Legolas?" Frodo looked into Legolas's grey eyes.
"Because I had to take my mind off of the elf who I loved. She loved another, you see, but the other is dead. She is in the Grey Havens now."
"Who did she love?"
"A dwarf." Legolas answered shortly.
"Really?" Frodo raised an eyebrow.
"Yes, Kili, the last decedent of Durin. Ask Gimli, he'll know of him." Legolas stared at the ground.
"How did Kili die?" Frodo pushed.
"Bolg killed him; I was too late. Maybe if I would've killed Bolg, Tauriel would have been happy. We all have our regrets, I suppose."
"Tauriel? Is that her name?"
"Yes, Frodo. Now sleep, you need your rest."
Legolas sat there while Frodo slept soundly beside him. He missed Tauriel immensely. He missed her fiery temper, her warm smile. He needed her love so badly, bt he knew he could never get it.
As you can see this was based off the MOVIE, not the book. Though I did through in one minor twist that was only in the book. In the book, Legolas has grey eyes, in the movie, Legolas has blue eyes. Any who, this is sort of for @Jesusgirl62426 because Ice in Shards was accidentally deleted, I know she might be a wee bit disappointed. But, she likes LOTR, sooo I gave her this.
