Chapter 9
(John P.O.V)
"Ok, I posted it." Alex slumped back in his chair and stroked Ducky, who was curled up in his lap.
He spun the chair around slowly, still stroking his cat. He looked like a villain in a classic cartoon movie or something. The Green-Eyed Man or whatever his name was from Bolt. I laughed at the thought of this short sleep-deprived man staring menacingly at the main character. He could be pretty menacing I guess...
"So, what now?" Alexander drew me from my thoughts.
"I was hoping you'd know."
"I do not."
Ducky meowed loudly and rolled over.
"Yeah yeah, I know." Alexander responded to the cat, reading his body language though to me it just looked like a normal cat's roll.
"What'd he say?"
"John, he's a cat. It was nothing you need to hear if you didn't catch it the first time."
"Oh, ok..." I shrugged, not getting the appeal of the life of a cat owner.
"Well, d'you want to get something to eat?" Alexander offered hesitantly.
"Sure I guess..." I frowned a little when my phone rang and checked who it was. "Peggy."
Alexander raised an eyebrow and leaned foreword to see the screen.
"I'll pick up." I sighed, hitting the green button. "Hey Pegs."
Omigod omigod!!! (I had to)
"Nice to see you too."
You're dating Alex?
"Yes."
I heard shrieking from the other side, then Angie's voice as she yelled at her sister.
I'm coming over.
"I'm not home."
Are you with Alex?
"Yup."
I'm upset.
"See you later Pegs."

I hung up.
Alexander was smiling and his eyes gleamed with laughter. I grinned back and took his hand in mine, leaning my head on his shoulder.
"I'm gonna put this on airplane mode." I said, indicating my phone. "Peggy's just the tip of the iceberg."
"Wow. You have lots of friends." He picked up his phone and stared at it for a moment. "I have like, one actual friend."
"What about me?"
"Well you're my boyfriend so..." He shrugged.
I laughed and kissed him quickly.
"Well anyways, Angelica invited me to this party thing tomorrow, wanna come?"
"And here you are saying you have no friends."
Alexander chuckled and stroked Ducky under the chin. "Yeah, I guess you have a point. Anyways, do you want to come or not?"
"Uhh... tomorrow?" I searched through my brain to see if I had anything. "No sorry, my sisters are coming over."
"Oh, that's fine. Do you think I could meet them?"
"Yeah, I'm sure they'd love you."
"Tell me more."
"My younger sister's called Mary, she's 7. My other sister is Martha, she's 15. They're both really nice but Mary can be pretty stubborn and don't even try to argue with her." I paused for a second, and raised an eyebrow at Alexander. "Kind of like you."
"Kind of like me? What do you mean? Mary sounds exactly like me!" Alexander smiled.
"Yeah... I guess she does." I chuckled. "Martha's a dog person, she's saving up all her money to buy a golden retriever puppy. Mom and dad can't really say no if she buys the dog then pays for everything. I've agreed to pitch in."
"Do your parents know?"
"Nope."
"That's gonna be a shocker." Alexander laughed. "Once I found a kitten in a box by the road and took it home. I fed it, gave it water and cleaned it. My mom came home, saw her son playing with a kitten and nearly had a heart attack. His name was Todd."
"You come up with the most random names." I laughed, imagine a young Alexander finding a kitten and taking it home. It seemed like something he would do.
"I know. That's what makes me so fabulous." He said sweetly, almost pitying. It was funny.
"You really are."
