It has been a couple days since that surprising morning Michael knocked at my door. After he spent a night and a big part of the next day, he decided to go back to his place, but he promised me we would keep in touch. I was really happy that we finally talked about our -strange- relationship. It felt like we grew up and stopped arguing like little kids. We became mature.

That was the positive side.

On the other hand, a part of my mind was constantly trying to make me feel bad. I mean... what was wrong with me ? How could I let my ex come back so easily after all the shit he put me through ? He didn't deserve me, and I was acting stupid.

"Shut up," I groaned and tried to think about something else. I hated it when my mind was playing with me that way. I thought about what I could do, now. I'd been seating on my couch for over an hour, fighting against my mind.

"I'm hopeless," I mumbled and sighed.

Maybe I could go to Jerry's and meet Harry or Jerry. I hadn't seen him in a while. I jumped up from the couch with great motivation and tried to find my purse. When it finally came to sight, I smiled and took a deep breath, going out of my apartment.

~

I held the door for the lady behind me who gave me a quick smile before looking around the café. As usual, few people were there, sipping silently their coffees or teas as slow music played.

"Blanche !" I looked at my right and saw Harry coming towards me with a small smile. I smiled back at him and said hello. "What's up ?" he asked, taking his apron off his neck, turning back his attention to me.

"Well, I just stay in the apartment , y'know... Nothing really interesting." I blushed and rubbed my arm shyly. It felt like I was lying to him. Was I ?

I didn't really know... I mean... It's not like he would actually appreciate hearing that Michael stayed at my place for over a day.

"Cool," he said awkwardly and looked behind me. "Uhm," he blushed and looked at our feet. "Would you like to come to my place ? I-I've just finished my shift, so..." he proposed.

I snorted and nodded. "Yeah, sure." It wasn't like I was going to his place for the first time.

Harry smiled and I waited for him to put his job clothes in the back of the café. When he came back, he had a deep green sweatshirt that made his eyes sparkle and a brown scarf. He put his long black coat and smiled at me.

"You ready ?" I asked with a genuine smile as Harry nodded, signaling me to follow him to his car.

As a real gentleman, he opened the car door for me and then, put some music in the car. An old sixties' song started to play and I smiled. I never actually asked about his music tastes as I never imagined him listen to any kind of music. The beat of the song was strong, yet the melody was calm and peaceful.

"You like old songs, don't you ?" I asked curiously as Harry started the vehicle. Harry chuckled and shook his head.

"It's not an old song." he replied with a cute smile. "I'm just not really into that new commercial music. It's just... wasting money on poor sound." he explained and I nodded, surprised.

I wouldn't have thought he would dislike nowadays' music that much. I disagreed with his opinion but decided to let it go. Music could get us into a long discussion, and a probably fight.

"Michael Jackson's music for example isn't really my type of thing, y'know ?" he continued, looking over at me as he held the wheel with both his hands. I stayed silent and bit my lip. I really didn't want to talk about Michael with Harry...

"Sorry," Harry mumbled when he saw my expression. "I shouldn't have mentioned him."

"It's okay, don't worry." I faked a smile and looked outside the window during the rest of the road.

When we finally arrived to Harry's place, I watched him as he searched for his keys in his pockets.

"Ah," he mumbled when he finally found them. I smiled at him and waited for the door to be opened. "Make yourself comfortable." Harry said and disappeared to a room right after we came in.

I sighed and placed my purse on the coffee table, seating on the couch and taking my boots off like he told me to do the first time I came here.

I waited patiently for Harry's return, fumbling with my fingers. I looked around his place, checking every details that I didn't notice the first time. Family pictures were hung on the wall, showing a smily boy with another girl, looking the same age. She had blond hair and looked beautiful. I assumed the boy was Harry as a child.

"Who is she ?" I asked Harry when he finally came back. He had taken his coat and scarf off.

"Gemma," he replied, sighing as he sat next to me. "My sister." he explained, looking at the picture. I nodded with my mouth slightly agape.

"She's really pretty," I told him.

"Yeah. She is."

Harry looked at me awkwardly with rosy cheeks.

"What do you wanna do ?" he asked me, changing the topic and I shrugged.

"Whatever you want us to do." I told him. Harry sighed and I noticed an anxious expression glued on his face. "Are you alright ?" I asked him, putting my hand on top of his, as I looked at him with worry.

His usual sparkly green eyes seemed troubled and it seemed like he was scared of something. Harry looked back at me after looking down at his feet for a moment.

"I don't know," he answered and left me confused.

"What do you mean you don't know?" I asked, turning my gull attention to him.

"After the incident with Michael, I feel like you're hiding things from me." he explained and I furrowed my brows.

What ?

"I mean... It's not like you should actually tell me everything, but..." he paused, scratching his chin as if he tried to find the right words. "I thought we were starting to trust each other, and it scares me to see you like this-"

What ?!

"Wait," I interrupted him with my index finger in the air. My eyes were slightly wide at his confession as I honestly didn't understand why he was telling me that. "First of all, what makes you think that I'm hiding things from you ?"

Harry signed once again and fumbled with his fingers. "I don't know... You seemed odd when I came to your place to give you your watch. And then, earlier, when I mentioned your ex's name, you- it was like you'd seen a ghost and you didn't talk to me the rest of the drive. I mean, you have to tell me when I say wrong things." Harry continued, a frustrated expression written on his face.

Wow. Was it that obvious ?

"I mean-" I closed my eyes and sighed. "I really don't know what to tell you right now," I mumbled and Harry frowned.

He immediately raised up from the couch and ran his hands through his hair in frustration. I watched him as he passed in front of me.

"Just tell me what is happening !" he raised his voice and I looked at him with surprise.

What was wrong with him?

"Nothing, really," I replied, trying as best as I could to hide my lie.

Harry stopped and turned to face me completely.

"You're lying," he said lowly and I rolled my eyes.

"Why do you care, anyway?" I asked him, becoming impatient myself at his behavior.

"Because I'm your- your friend." Harry said, blushing as he had paused before the word "friend".

"Well, I'm telling you ; there is nothing you have to worry about, Harry," I said, looking deep into his eyes. I got up and stood in front of him. "Trust me."

Harry sighed while looking at me, then dropped his glare to the floor.

"I'm sorry," he whispered shamefully and rubbed his eyes. "I thought there was something going on... with Michael," he confessed and I looked away.

He's going to be disappointed...

"With everything he has done to you, it would make me so mad," Harry continued, looking at me with a stern look. I gulped and nodded.

"Don't worry," I said. "Nothing is going to happen between him and I."

That wasn't true.
