C.5~The Babysitter

Still feeling extremely flabbergasted by Mikayla's statement, he lay on the couch in the family room trying to determine his next step in his mission. He stared up at his ceiling and thought about what she had said.

How could he love her again after they broke up?

Wouldn't Mikayla already have another boyfriend?

Aris replayed what he had just thought and realized that exact statement could be fired right back at him, I mean shouldn't he have another girlfriend? A million other thoughts surmounted his mind as he lay on the couch. Aris frowned and sat up slowly in his seat.

He then peered down at Rose, who was calmly resting on her belly on the floor beside him. She began making herself giggle as she spotted her reflection in the mirror. Cameron, on the other hand, was in his room playing with his Paw Patrol and Thomas the Train figurines.

Aris smiled to himself as he thought dreamily about Mikayla, and suddenly he had a brilliant idea. He stood up and ran one of his hands through his thick brown hair. He slowly strolled over to the marble counter and examined the plethora of knives, spoons, forks and other kitchen utensils lined up against the wall.

"Daddy, what are we gonna do today?" Cameron inquired suddenly as he grabbed a strawberry off of the platter with his petite still-chubby fingers.

Aris looked down at his son and let out a long content sigh," Well, someone very special is coming over, and daddy needs to prepare a special surprise for this person, and you know what? I have the perfect idea."

Cameron nodded with a large smile plastered on his face, but before he could reply, Aris answered the question that was soon to be asked.

"-and yes, you can help."

"Yay!" Cameron squealed as he dragged his Winnie the Pooh stool into the kitchen and leaped on top of it. He peered over the counter and looked at the ingredients that had already been placed on the table.

"First off, can you grab some eggs from the fridge? We need. . ." Aris paused for a moment as he scanned the recipe," three-three eggs I think." He stated as he pointed out other ingredients he would need.

"Okay, give me one minute," Cameron obliged as he sprinted over to the fridge. He grasped the fridge door and pulled it open, releasing a blast of frigid air that managed to linger around them. "One egg, two eggs, three eggs!" He muttered to himself as he balanced the three eggs in between his hands and chin.

Once the ingredients had been physically mixed and placed into the bowl, Aris gently placed it in the oven and turned the dial for ten minutes. When he closed the door he looked around the room,"well, I think someone needs to do a lot of cleaning in the family room," He stated as he peered down at Cameron who was licking the spoon from the batter without permission.

"Hey!" Aris shouted jokingly at his son who darted off into the hallway," get back here!"

Cameron laughed as he held the spoon closer to him so his dad could not grab it from him.

"Nah, nah, nah boo, boo, you can't catch me!" Cameron chanted while sticking out his tongue.

He darted every direction of the house, trying to dodge his father who was catching up to him.

Aris finally finished making Mikayla's favorite dessert and he was now gelling his hair and putting on an outfit to make him look more handsome.

He knew that he was taking this whole thing to a higher level since they were an ex-couple, but he thought it is still more appropriate to dress nicely when he has a guest over- no matter their status.

He stood still for a moment in order to examine himself in the bathroom mirror. His thick brown hair was slicked to the right side, a precious little curl added more volume to it. His soft blue eyes were identical to the color of the sky; no clouds or birds, just the sky, a plain blue sky.

Hi eyes were the one of the many things that captivated girls at first sight. No one could miss them when they would walk down the halls. Besides, who would ignore one of the best and most popular football players anyway?

He glanced at his reflection for a few more seconds before walking out into the hallway where Cameron was holding his new flawless tuxedo. He was examining it oddly for a moment and then when he saw his father, his mouth gaped.

"Daddy? Is that you?" Cameron asked as he ran around in circles trying to figure out if that was his father or not.

"Yes, it's me, bud. Where's Rose?" Aris replied with a smiled as he ruffled Cameron's thick hair.

"I think Rose is pwaying with her toys but hey. . . you don't look like my daddy! You look too different. My daddy has brown hair that is always-"

Aris grasped Cameron's little body and pulled him up in the air, then he placed him on his shoulders and began to run around the room. Cameron was still grasping on to his tuxedo.

"Woah, woah, woah! Okay, daddy! You are my real life daddy, I guess," Cameron concluded with a shrug as he casually slid off of his father's back and on to the carpet.

Aris kneeled down in front of him with a warm smile and placed his hand on Cameron's broad shoulder," Yep, I told you it was me, goofball."

"Okay, you win daddy," Cameron finalized sticking out his tiny tongue and squinting his eyes at Aris.

"Haha, okay." Aris replied letting the silence take over the house for a few moments, "wait a second, where's your shirt?"

"I took it off  'cuz I don't like shirts or anything like that." He replied with a I-know-I-am-so-cool look plastered on his face as he spoke.

"Yeah, I don't think so, maybe when you are like fifteen and trying to impress a girl or something." Aris responded with a small laugh.

"Ew, I do not wanna impress some girl, or kiss one! That is super gross daddy, blah! Have you ever kissed a girl? They have cooties you know!" Cameron spoke as he began to giggle.

"Yes, I have kissed plenty of girls in my lifetime," Aris admitted as he felt his cheeks begin to burn with guilt.

"Ew, that is gross! I am never ever gonna kiss a girl. Wait, if you have kissed a girl on your lips, that means when you kiss me goodnight on my forehead, you are spreading girl cooties all over me?" Cameron questioned. Realizing what this meant, he began to flail his arms around and scream.

"Alright, alright, it is not that bad, buddy. Trust me, one day you will kiss a girl. I am positive." Aris responded as he quickly slipped on Cameron's undershirt on him wild he continued to babble about cooties.

"Hey!" Cameron scolded as he realized he had his short back on him some how," why is this on me? I don't want it on me, daddy!"

"Shh, be quite, Cam! Rose is trying to take a small nap before the special guest arrives! Please cooperate with me, Cameron." Aris pleaded as he glanced into Rose's pink and princess themed bedroom to see her still fast asleep.

He still did not understand how babies and one year olds can sleep through such noise, especially an obnoxious three year old screaming his lungs out he whole day.

A frown came upon Cameron's face," I do not like shirts. I like jeans and only jeans. I don't wanna wear any shirt, daddy," Cameron replied as calmly and nicely as he could.

Aris rubbed his temples and ran a hand through his hair again and sighed," look, you will get extra dessert if you cooperate with me and wear the shirt. Understand?" Aris offered as he set his hands on his hips, and looked at his watch witch read, 5:31.

The time indicated that there was only a half hour to forty five minutes until Mikayla would arrive at his home. He looked down at Cameron who was now groaning and acting all squirmy-like on the floor.

"Alright, change of plans, you need to take a bath since I don't want you smelling like Ollie." Aris sighed as he struggled to pick up and carry Cameron into the bathroom while he was still squirming through his tough grip.

After Cameron had taken his bath, it was now 5:52, and Cameron was still not being very cooperative with Aris. Thankfully, Rose was awake and content, like her usual self. She was currently in her pack-n-play gurgling and giggling to herself.

"Daddy, why do I have to wear this tix-i-a-do?" Cameron asked in his cute and quite voice. A frown took over his usual happy-go-lucky attitude," and why is Rose wearin' that big poofy dress?"

"Well. . ." Aris hesitated for a moment," first off, it is tuxedo, buddy, and we need to look nice for the person who is coming over," He replied as he helped Cameron button up his tuxedo correctly.

"I am already very impressing, daddy." Cameron replied with no sense of humor in his voice.

Aris laughed heartily as he replayed his son's comical response as he finished pulling up Cameron's new pair of jeans over his small legs.

"I know you are handsome- just like your father-" I added as I stifled a laugh," but this person is practically the only reason you are here right now. Oh, and be on your best behavior, I don't want you spilling all of the dinner onto your tuxedo. This person would not be very pleased." Aris added as he stood up, feeling the tension in his upper thigh from kneeling awkwardly for so long.

"Daddy, I don't like this," Cameron pouted as he crossed his arms and puffed out his chest.

"Cam, come one, let's be nice and cooperate with everything. This gathering is really important for all of us," Aris demanded as he glared into his son's angry and tired blue eyes.

In response, Cameron let out a long groan as he repositioned his bow tie and his jeans, which were beginning to slip off of his waist as he walked. Aris watched his son and thought to himself:

If only he knew who was coming, things would be so much different.

Aris was suddenly yanked out of his trance when the doorbell rang. The noise echoing through the quite and stillness of the small home.

As he proceeded to answer the door, his palms began to sweat and he felt the blood rushing to his cheeks as he stepped in front of the door, slowly turning the handle, his mouth gaping in response to what he saw.
