AN: I hardly know football, so I apologize for the time skip.

Fourteen seconds on the clock. Randy Marquel, a wide receiver, was in our endzone. I had the ball. The score was tied at 21.

The seconds turned into hours. The cheering turned into sounds of rushing water. My breathing filled my ears like a windstorm. Everything slowed down. Time seemed to stop. I shoved past an opponent easily. My heavy footsteps came crashing down.

I turned to see Randy. He was wide open.

I glanced at the clock. Nine seconds left.

Time slowed down even more.

I heard every tick of the clock pounding in my ears, echoing throughout my mind.

I take a deep breath.

And throw.

Time speeds up again. I see the ball fly through the air, hurtling, hurtling... the crowd leaps to its feet in anticipation... and...

It's good.

I am swimming in the eruption of the applause and hollers. I spot Jack freaking out in the front row, leaping over the fence to join the team on the field.

Then, I'm smacked back into reality as the team tackles Randy and I into a huge celebratory hug. We're laughing, screaming, and simply taking in the joys of our first win.

Jack Jansen has added you and 34 others to "Football Babes😍"!

I clicked on the notification. Snapchat opened up and I went into the new group chat.

Jack sent a snap.

It was a picture of him smiling with his tongue out. The caption read, "So proud of my boys😝".

Peter Pascall sent a snap back of him and his girlfriend smiling. It read, 'thanks cutie love ya".

I smiled and replayed Jack's snap. He was so adorable.

Suddenly, another notification from Snapchat came up.

Jack Jansen has sent you a snap!

I opened it up. My breath caught for a second. It was a shirtless picture of Jack, with the caption as "Hey we need a pic at the next gaaammmeeee😉".

I turned on my flash and sent a snap back of the top of my forehead. I didn't want him to see how much I was blushing. I quickly typed "Sure thing" and hit send.

He opened it right away. A few seconds later, he sent another snap.

He was making puppy-dog eyes. "Let me see your faaaccceeee".

I blushed madly and took a snap of me with my tongue out and smiling. He opened it right away again and sent another snap back quickly.

"There's my qback :)". I smiled and checked who all had updated their stories. Pretty much everyone who went to the game had, so I only viewed a couple. Jack had put something up, so I clicked on it.

He was in his bed, shirtless, with the dog face filter and his green and white facepaint still on.

"Great win Serpents❤❤" it read.

The weekend flew by, with me doing pretty much nothing but sleeping. Much too soon, it was Monday again. Five dreaded days of classes until another game. When I heard my blaring alarm go off, I groaned and rolled over, trying to ignore it, but eventually accepted defeat, sighed, and got out of bed.

The first half of the day dragged, but after lunch, it wasn't too bad. Shawn and I walked to Spanish together, and my heart skipped a beat when I remembered Jack had the same Spanish class as me.

"Hola, class," Señora said as we sat down.

"Hola, Señora."

"Today we are going to be starting a project!"

The class groaned.

"I'll be assigning you partners. You and your partner must find something you both love, and make a poster explaining why. All of it must be in Español. Due Friday!"

Señora passed out numbered chips to the class. Whoever your number matched with was your partner. I looked down at my chip. Huh. Eight- just like my jersey number.

Señora went through the numbers, reading down the list. When she got to 8, I raised my hand without looking up.

"Alright, Señor Rivera and Señor Jansen, you will be partners."

I snapped my head up and blinked. Huh? Hold on, I actually got paired with Jack?

I looked over across the room at him. Jack was grinning at me widely. I smiled shyly back, trying to hold back how happy I really was.

Once she let us loose, I had hardly sat up before Jack was over in front of my seat. His eyes were bright and shining.

"We're doing football, right?"

I smiled and laughed a little. "You know it."

I spent the rest of the period sneaking glances at Jack and using Google Translate instead of the Spanish book. Even though we had picked our topic, the two halves of the poster were very different, considering I'm a quarterback and he's pretty much a cheerleader. Oh well. Anytime spent with Jack was good for me.

"Hey, we have practice after school today, right?" I asked. Jack always came and sat in on our practices.

"Yep," he said, "today, Tuesday, and Wednesday, then Friday's an away game."

"You think we got a chance of beating them?"

Jack looked up at me as if that was the dumbest question he had ever heard. He raised his eyebrows and flashed me a smile.

"Are you kidding me? Dude, it's us. And the team's under your leadership! It's an automatic win, trust me."

I blushed and looked down at my hands, lacing them together.

"Thanks."

After school, I grabbed my books and headed down to the locker rooms. Practice may not be until 4, but I always did this. If I finished my homework, I could just put everything back in my locker and not have to worry about it.

I stress over projects a lot, so, after finishing my initial work, I took my laptop out of my bag and began typing up the paragraphs for my side of the Spanish project.

At 3:30, Dad came into the locker room.

"Hey, Champ," he said, ruffling my hair. "How was school?"

"Good," I said, not looking up from my laptop.

"Good," Dad said. He picked up his bag and headed into his office.

I was almost done with the paragraphs, so I quickly saved and logged out.

The players began filing in slowly. I put on my helmet and began tying my cleats when I felt a sharp knocking on my helmet.

"Hey!" I snapped, looking up to see who it was, but I immeadiately turned red to see the smirking face of Jack looking back down at me.

"Aw, is Ollie annoyed?" he said, then he made a fake sad face. "I see how it is."

"Jaaaccckkk," I said, laughing a little and fixing my hair and I stood up, "I could never get annoyed by you." I blushed more when I realized how that might have come across. Jack didn't catch it, however.

"Yay!" he said, immeadiately brightening up and giving me a huge hug.

I chuckled lightly, and was going to reply, but that's when Dad came out of his office and told us to get on the field. Jack winked at me, then sprinted for the door.
