Cork the Champagne

I like to run alongside the

Vertical tether, and I have been turned inside out by more

Than a few lovers,

Loving lovers as they hover

Beneath my eyelids, as wings

Unfurrow. I don't like straight lines, I rather

Run in circles, left turn, left turn, left turn,

And left turn, just to start over again; three hundred 

Laps for cars racing,

Fans cheering, and women popping the cork

For the champions, who will do it all over next week.

Crash and burn, as the cliché goes, but perhaps

Tomorrow we will burn and then crash, cork

The champagne, run backwards, and then do

Four right turns on the oval track. Let's go water

Tubing at the water park in an ice storm, four

Tubes for the four days of impending ice.
