Chapter 3: The Scooping Room
Michael awoke abruptly and rubbed his eyes as his alarm went off.
Ever since the previous night, all he could think about was trying to get Elizabeth back. This was his last chance at reuniting with family that loved him.
He decided not to call Henry today and went straight to the office.
Liara was waiting for him at the door, "G'day, Afton Jr! Ready for your third day?"
"Actually I had a question about something", Michael said, "Have any of your previous night shifters had any experience with the mascots talking to them?"
"Oh heavens no!", Liara exclaimed, "Well there was one time, but that was just a vocal error. We fixed it soon after."
"Huh. Well off to work", Michael replied before returning to the elevator once again.

After Michael's trip down into the basement and the rudimentary check on the two galleries, Hand-Unit explained that he'd have to remove Funtime Freddy's power module and that he'd have to crawl through Foxy's gallery to get there.
"...There is no need to check on Baby tonight; please refrain from entering unauthorized areas. Proceed directly to Funtime Auditorium", Hand-Unit instructed him.
Michael remembered that Hand-Unit may not be the most trustworthy person and went into Circus Gallery.
Once he got there, he went under the desk crawlspace again and closed the door.
"Elizabeth?", Michael called out.
"Did you know that I was on stage once?", she noted, "It wasn't for very long, only one day."
She continued monologuing, but Michael drifted off into the memory of that day.
Kids and adults ran as that alarm went off. But Elizabeth was nowhere to be found. Tristen was cowering in a corner as his father attempted to calm the crowd. But to no avail, the restaurant they'd worked so hard on was shut down. William broke and put that feeling onto Michael as well.
"...A little girl, standing by herself", Baby explained. Michael started focusing again.
" I was no longer myself. And I stopped singing. My stomach opened and there was ice cream", she continued, "I couldn't move at least, not until she stepped closer."
"There was screaming for a moment, but only for a moment. Then other children rushed in again, but they couldn't hear her over the sounds of their own excitement."
"I still hear her sometimes. Why did that happen?"
Michael didn't have an answer. The memories were too great for him to handle so he decided to do what Hand-Unit asked.
Once he was in Foxy's gallery, Hand-Unit explained, "Unlike Ballora, Funtime Foxy is motion-activated. It's important to keep the room dark, as to not accidentally activate her."
"You have been provided with a flash beacon. Use it if you need to get your bearings and to ensure you don't bump into anything. However, use it as sparingly as possible."
Michael made a note to use the light as much as possible and only move when the light was bright.
After making it through the gallery, he proceeded to follow Hand-Unit's instructions to remove Freddy's power module.
"Great job. You've acquired both power modules. This completes your tasks for the night", Hand-Unit said matter-of-factly, "Please exit through Funtime Auditorium and we'll see you back here again tomorrow."
Michael was excited to leave because the lifeless husk of Freddy was not a very pleasing sight, considering the previous night.
Michael began crawling back through Funtime Auditorium. But right before he got to the exit, Funtime Foxy appeared in front of him.

Shallow creaking awoke Michael.
"Shhh. Be still, and quiet", said Baby. Michael stood stiffly.
"You've been sleeping for quite a while", she continued quietly, "I think they noticed that you never left the building last night. The cameras were searching for you, but they couldn't find you. I have you hidden too well."
"I kidnapped you."
Michael's breathing quickened.
"Don't be afraid, I'm not going to hurt you. I am only going to keep you for a little while. Try not to wiggle though. You're inside something that came from my old pizzeria", she stated.
His eyes grew wide as he knew what he was in.
"I don't think it was ever used; at least, not the way it was meant to be used. Too dangerous. It's just big enough for one person to fit inside, but just barely."
Michael froze again but began looking around the room as much as he could. There was a camera blinking in the corner of his eye. He wanted to jump and wave to get help but he knew what horror would await him if he tried. He continued to stand still as Baby continued droning on and on about the "Scooping Room" and what it was for.
"Uh-oh, it sounds like someone else is in the building. Shhh."
He tried looking around to see where the people might be but he didn't see them. Two voices argued over fixing some female mascot. Is it Baby or Ballora?, Michael asked himself.
He heard some machinery activate and saw Ballora being moved into the room with him. Baby started talking about but Michael was stricken with fear and didn't pay much attention to her.
An alarm started blaring and a metal arm reached toward Ballora quickly and repeatedly, removing metal from her. Her faceplates fell open and her head turned towards Michael, one eye active and watching.
"I'll open the face-plates for you", Baby explained.
Michael whispered, "Elizabeth wait."
The faceplates opened, "That way they can find you on the cameras. Now all you have to do is wait."
He began hearing a ticking noise.
"I'd recommend that you keep the springlocks wound up. Your breathing and your heartbeat are causing them to come loose. You don't want them to get too loose; trust me", she told him.
Michael began panicking as he pulled his arms out of the arm sockets and began trying to tighten the bolts as they were slipping. After a short time, Ballora's "Mini-reenas" started crawling up the sides of the mask and into the suit with him.
He kept as calm as possible and started winding the locks faster. The camera was almost facing him. Ballora's eye kept staring him down as he frantically wound the locks.
Eventually, the camera was on him.
Immediately the two technicians burst through the door and fully wound the springlocks with a crank, allowing Michael to get free.
"Well how in the bloody hell did you get in there?", the first guy asked.
Michael decided not to answer and pushed past them to leave the underground facility.

"It's almost time", Baby said.
"We should go give him a sur-urprise!", Funtime Freddy yelled. Foxy only made a garbled noise.
Baby sighed, "Losing Ballora earlier than expected has made me do something drastic."
