Not a sound.
Not a worry.
Just the birds singing in this beautiful day of spring.
(Y/N) was humming a tune as she was swiping around the leaves on the ground, clearing the path around her little house.
Her mother just then walked out, carrying a basket with dirty clothes.
The older woman set it down, huffing softly from the pain on her back.
A gentle hand rested on her shoulder,as she gave her mother a smile.
"Let me do the clothes for you mother,go rest."
Before she could protest, she had already taken the basket and sat down on the chair, soaking the clothes in the water as she grabbed a bar of soap.
Her mother smiled lovingly, moving her body to take a seat as she looked around this calming day.
She scrubbed the dirty wet clothes with the bar of soap, humming softly as she tried to remove any annoying stains that remained on the fabric.
"The knights from the king's castle are coming this way!"One of their neighbors exclaimed, catching the females off guard.
She dried her hands and stood up,following her mother at the front of their house where the rest of the villagers were slowly gathering up.
In the distance, the sound of running horses could be heard, making her chest form an uneasy feeling.
The two knights in their horses came to a stop, looking down at them.
"People of Fazbear village! From our king's orders,i am here to collect the best of the men to be send to kill the Great Dragon!"
A few gasps went along the crowd, following with a small sobs.
"The Great Dragon?I thought it was killed years ago."(Y/N) mumbled,as her mother softly exhaled.
Bad memories.
That was all to that years ago with that dragon.
The knight, who was going by the name sire Mike, looked over to the knight on the other horse, who handed him a paper.
"With this royal stamp."He showed the paper around the villagers,so they can see the stamp and king's signature."The names that will be called are obligated to follow king's orders and come to the castle for this mission."
He cleared his throat, looking at the paper as he started calling out names.
Many young men approached at the call of their names, following up with worried mothers and cries.
"And lastly,(F/N=Father's Name),from the house of (L/N)."
At the sound of his name, the older man stepped out of the house, making his daughter gasp.
"Sire Mike!"(Y/N) approached him by his horse,a pleading look in her eyes."You can't take my father! He hasn't been in a good shape ever since his last fight years ago!"
The knight's blue eyes furrowed, huffing at her words.
"Whatever the king requests,we must follow. Now get out of my sight!"
He moved his horse so she could step back,as he looked down at the chosen men.
"Tomorrow at dawn, sire Jeremy will be here to collect you all.Be prepared."
He made the horse to start running out of the crowd,as his fellow knight followed him close behind.
A long sigh caught her attention, looking back at her father.
"Father, you don't have to do this."
"Dear, your last fight."Her mother started,as her hand gently rested on his side, where a large scar was laying.
"I can't go against the king's orders. It will be an honour to serve for him, even if i end up dying."
Her (colour) eyes were building up tears, falling into his embrace and hugging him tightly.
"I will be alright, pumpkin pie."His fingers ran through her hair, laying a kiss on her forehead."Don't worry about it."
~~
Dawn was close to the horizon.
A figure was awaken in the house, and it wasn't the one of her father's.
The female sneaked inside her parent's bedroom, seeing them sound asleep.
Her fingers carefully pulled the closet doors to open, seeing his old armor, still in good shape along with his sword.
Her eyes looked over the sleeping figure of her father, remembering last night's events as she exhaled deeply.
Every move.
Every turn he would take.
He had him on his knees, clutching on his injured side with a hiss.
Mother was trying to keep a strong smile, but every time she would end up wiping the tears from her wrinkled face.
She took a hold of his armor and sword, exiting their room.
She ripped a piece of fabric form some spare bedsheets, wrapping them around her chest area before wearing the heavy armor.
The helmet covered most of her hair and it had a cover for her face too,so hopefully no one would notice her features.
With a pen and ink,she wrote a small note to her parents, leaving it on the table as she kissed their foreheads for goodbye.
The sounds of a horse was coming down the neighborhood road made her move quickly,as she was out of the house, ready to go.
Sire Jeremy was already there, calling out the men's names, making sure everyone was there.
"(F/N) (L/N)?"
She cleared her throat, trying to bring herself to make a low deep voice.
"Here!"
Confidence in your words,show confidence.
"Very well,everyone,on their horses."
He moved on his own horse, making the rest to follow.
She noticed from the corner of her eye her horse was looking at her,as it recognized not being the male figure of the house.
She smiled, running her hand along its head, letting her pet it.
"Let's go.We will have a long journey ahead of us."
She propped herself up on the horse, following the rest of the young men towards the castle.
The ride was silent, mostly because the village was still sleeping at this time of day.
Only a few farmers stopped and looked, wishing good luck and may the Gods be at their side.
They approached the gate,as Jeremy got off his horse.
"Leave your horses here, they will be taken care of."
She patted her horse goodbye for now, watching it being taken away from some guards.
She followed, along with the other men,Jeremy into the castle, leading them towards the throne room.
Outside of the closed doors sire Mike was waiting for them with crossed arms.
"Is everyone here?"
"Yes sire."
Jeremy said, taking a step aside for the higher ranked knight to inspect them.
His fierce blue eyes looked at each male with a hum, before stopping himself upon looking at her.
He looked around the armor,as he tried to look behind the covered helmet and into her eyes.
"Sir (L/N)."
A lump was trapped in the middle of her throat, shaking slightly under the armor as he stayed in place.
But a harsh pat on the back and a chuckle, made her softly huff.
"Glad to see you here (L/N).The king will be more than happy that his orders went through."
She tried to chuckle back, nodding her face as she watched him walk towards big doors.
That was close.
As that thought went through her head, the big doors of the throne room slowly opened.
"Your majesty!I present to you with the men who you requested to kill the Great Dragon!"
Her feet slowly took her inside the throne room, noticing a tall figure was looking outside of the large windows,as his hands were resting behind his back.
His long dark purple hair were tied together in a low ponytail,as his red cape was reaching the floor.
He turned his face to the side upon hearing Jeremy's voice, before turning around and fully looking at the people in his throne room.
His dark complexion was being caressed by the morning sunlight,as the corners of his mouth came to build a cheeky smile.
"Excellent!"
His voice,so smooth and deep,it could make anyone shiver under that cold armor.
She was blushing, mainly because she had never seen the king before, and she didn't expect him to be this handsome.
She blinked,shaking her head.
Focus on your mission (Y/N),not on his pretty face.
He approached the chosen men,who bowed as he stepped closer.
She bowed to him, only for the king to stop once seeing the last man.
She noticed him still standing there, making her gulp in worry.
"State your name,sir."
She kept her head low, still bowing to him.
"(F/N) (L/N),your highness."
His eyes squinted, but still managed a smile.
"Ah,sir (L/N)!So brave of you to come into this mission, even after that deadly injury you had years ago!"
She softly growled under her breath, annoyed since the king already knew of her father's condition yet he wanted his presence anyway.
"My father have told me great things about you.Your bravery and excellent mind.Such an honour to have you here to this mission."
"The honour is mine, your highness.Choosing me to come along in this mission to kill the dragon."
Vincent smiled, humming softly before walking towards his throne, taking a seat.
"The maids will show you your assigned rooms.Your training will start as soon as possible in today's time.Sire Mike and Jeremy will inform you for the rest."
A maid approached her, bowing to her and with her kind voice tried to lead her towards her room.
The castle was huge,so getting lost was already a thing she would face.
"Sire Mike told me to inform you for your practice today,so once you are settled, your presence will be required."
The maid bowed, and before she could thank her she was already out of the room.
She removed the helmet, exhaling deeply as her hair was bit of a mess.
"Keeping this act will be the death of me.But it's better than having my father being at risk."
She inhaled and exhaled, wearing her helmet once again before opening the door.
She looked up and down the fancy corridors, blinking to herself.
Which way is the right way now.
~~
"That's enough for today!"
Mike huffed, crossing his arms and looking at the tired men who were struggling to keep their breaths under the heavy armor.
"Let's hope you won't disappoint me as much tomorrow."He turned around and left,as Jeremy was left with them.
"A meal and a warm bath are ready for you.Be sure to rest well."
And with that, the kind knight left in the same direction as Mike did.
They were guided to a specific area of the castle,as they were eating and talking with one another.
(Y/N) had to wait until everyone had gone to their rooms,to both eat and have a bath.
Once the last male was out of the bath area, she slipped inside the steamy room.
She started removing her metal armor, dripping in sweat as everything was sticking to her skin.
She removed the ripped piece of bedsheet from around her chest, finally having a breather.
Her body slightly ached at the touch of the warm water, dragging the bar of soap around her body, noticing some bruises were already forming on her skin.
She ignored them, not caring at the cost of her body as long as the people she loved were safe.
Her hands were around a cup, filling it up with water and washing herself off, humming softly.
The door of bath area creaked open, making her gasp.
She was quickly on her feet, with a towel around her body as if trying to hide herself behind the steams.
No sound.
She was too afraid to even exhale, and simply wore back her armor and left the bath area.
Surprisingly, she found her way back to her assigned room, closing the door and locking it.
"I really hope nobody saw me."She mumbled with an exhale, removing once again the armor as she was left wearing some oversized clothes.
She stepped further into the room, only to notice a tall figure by the window.
"Decided to take a late night bath,Sir (F/N) (L/N)?"
Her eyes went wide, stumbling backwards as her heart dropped in her stomach.
He turned his head,as his almost white eyes looked at her shocked face.
Vincent slowly inched closer to her, arms crossed in front of his torso.
Her body was quickly on her knees, lowering her head.
"Your highness,i deeply apologize for lying to your face, but i did this to protect my father."
He hummed, raising an eyebrow as he stopped in front of her bowing figure.
"Was he too coward to come and defend his own family so he sent his only child?"
She huffed, raising her head as she placed her hand on her chest.
"No!My father would never mean harm to his family!I chose to be here because i wanted to!I wanted to protect him and my mother. He is in no condition to fight and i will gladly accept his place in order to see him happily alive."
His eyes squinted, looking down at her.
"I knew something was off about you.In the throne room, during practice, how distant you were with the others."He clenched his jaw, lowering himself on her kneeled down figure on the floor."I could easily send you back, like nothing ever happened,or humiliate you in front of the whole kingdom, that should be fun."
His teasing smirk made her guts twist in disgust, gripping at her clothes.
"I dare you to do it then."
His gloved hand reached her face, cupping her chin and slightly gripping it.
"Already brave enough for a woman to be here, but to bring yourself against me?"He chuckled, twisting his lips into a grin."You must not care about your little life.Do you want to play that badly?Let's play then."
The leather of his glove made her shiver,as he gripped her chin and brought her closer to his face.
Her (colour) eyes looked into his almost white eyes,as his soft breath caressed her trembling skin.
"You will bring the head of the dragon to me,if you do,then your family will be free from any future duties this castle may have.If you fail to do so,either death or you will serve yourself to me as a slave will await you once you return."
His voice was so low and calming, but his words were simply the opposite.
She swallowed, rather hard as she let out a long exhale from her dry lips.
"I will be sure to throw that head of the dragon right at your feet of your fancy throne, just to prove you that i did it."
He smirked, letting go of her face as he stood up.
"It's a deal then."
Vincent moved himself towards the door, unlocking and opening it.
"Have a good rest,sir (L/N),and good luck."
The irony of his last words made her boil in anger,as the door closed behind him, hearing his cocky chuckle.
The grip on her clothes tightened,as her eyes looked outside of the starry night with determination in her fierce eyes.
I am going to prove you wrong.
I will save my family and my own dignity.
I will prove you that i did it,even though i am a woman.
No genders should be labeled of what to do or not.
I am going to kill that dragon and bring its head to you.
Just watch me.
